Gracing Visnagar Yet Manifesting in Ganf to Accept Vasta Raval’s Dudhpak, and Rescuing Naja Jogiya in Jasdan
In Samvat 1868, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj was gracing North Gujarat with His divine assembly of sadhus. Traveling from Vijapur and Gerita, Maharaj arrived at the historic Bhimnath Mahadev temple beside the lake in Visnagar. There, He performed countless wondrous lilas, hosting an immense feast (chhorasi) for thousands of Brahmins, distributing double handfuls of silver coins as dakshina, and feeding consecrated ladus directly to stone elephant statues to confirm His supreme Godhood. Pious devotee Udekumvarbai served elaborate food offerings (thal) daily.
Simultaneously, in the distant village of Ganf in the Bhal region, lived Shreehari’s devoted disciple, Vasta Raval. Being a widower, his sister-in-law (sali) had been residing at his home to manage household cooking and farm chores. One morning, noticing how hard she toiled cleaning the stables, Vasta Raval thoughtfully concluded: “My sister-in-law is an honored guest; why should she endure such exhausting labor caring for livestock? I shall sell the buffalo!” That very morning, he sold the animal to a neighbor.
Shortly thereafter, when his sister-in-law went to the barn and discovered the buffalo missing, she asked: “Brother-in-law! Where is the buffalo?” Vasta replied: “You are our respected guest; to spare you the heavy toil of cattle chores, I have sold her!” Hearing this, she sighed with deep regret: “Alas! For weeks I held a heartfelt vow to prepare rich milk pudding (dudhpak) and hot puris from her rich milk to offer to Lord Shreeji Maharaj! Now that the buffalo is gone, how will my cherished offering ever be realized?”
Vasta Raval reassured her with unshakable faith: “Sister, despair not! The fresh milk churned from her this very morning is still preserved in the earthen vessel! Boil that milk and prepare your dudhpak; if your devotional love is genuine, Lord Shreeji Maharaj will surely arrive in person by noon to accept the thal! Place the milk on the hearth; I shall run to the bazaar to purchase green cardamom, nutmeg, and saffron!” Filled with tender love, she began simmering the milk, while Vasta Raval hurried to the village market, chanting Shreehari’s holy name.
Though physically residing in Visnagar—over a hundred kilometers away—the omniscient Lord perceived His devotees’ pure love. In an instant, Shreehari manifested divinely upon His mare Manki in the village bazaar of Ganf! Vasta Raval looked up in the marketplace and beheld Supreme Lord Shreehari riding toward him! Overcome with tears of joy, he fell prostrate in the dust and reverently escorted Maharaj to his dwelling. Seating Shreehari upon a low wooden throne on the veranda, they washed His holy feet. His sister-in-law lovingly served a sumptuous platter of piping hot dudhpak, golden puris, savory fritters, lentil curry, rice, and homemade pickles. Shreehari ate heartily with immense delight, showering boundless divine grace upon both devotees!
Upon completing the meal, Shreehari departed with lightning speed. In the distant town of Jasdan near Rajkot, the tyrannical chieftain Vajasur Khachar was cruelly tormenting and imprisoning Shreehari’s beloved disciple, Naja Jogiya, who was chanting “Swaminarayan… Swaminarayan…” continuously for deliverance. Traveling divinely across regions, Shreehari reached Jasdan within twenty-four hours, miraculously liberating Naja Jogiya from his cruel tormentors and demonstrating His omnipresent protection of His devotees.
