કચ્છના વથોણમાં વ્યસની કુટુંબમાં સાસરે જવાનો ઇનકાર કરનાર દેવુબેન સુતારના આગ્રહે શ્રીહરિ સ્વયં ગાડે બેસી સાથે પધાર્યા અને સસરાના કુસંગના તમામ વ્યસનો છોડાવી સમસ્ત વથોણ ગામને સત્સંગના રંગે રંગી દીધું.
કચ્છ જિલ્લાના વથોણ ગામે દેવુબેન સુતાર નામે શ્રીજીમહારાજના એક અનન્ય પ્રેમવાળા એકાંતિક સ્ત્રીભક્ત રહેતા હતા. તેઓ માનકુવા ગામના સત્સંગી સુતાર નાથાભાઈનાં પુત્રી હતાં.
તે સમયના રિવાજ મુજબ નાનપણમાં દેવુબેનનાં લગ્ન વથોણ ગામે થઈ ગયાં હતાં. લગ્ન પછી પિતા નાથાભાઈના પરિવારને સત્સંગ થતાં પિયરમાં ડુંગળી-લસણ જેવા અભક્ષ્ય પદાર્થોનો ત્યાગ થયો હતો અને બીડી-હુક્કાનાં તમામ વ્યસનો છૂટી ગયાં હતાં. પરંતુ વથોણમાં દેવુબેનના સસરાના કુટુંબમાં સત્સંગ ન હોવાથી ત્યાં હુક્કો, તમાકુ અને દારૂ જેવાં તમામ દુર્વ્યસનો વ્યાપેલાં હતાં. આથી સંસ્કારી અને સદાચારી દેવુબેનને આવા વ્યસની કુટુંબમાં સાસરે જવાની જરાય ઇચ્છા નહોતી. ઉંમર થતાં જ્યારે સસરા માનકુવા તેડવા આવ્યા ત્યારે દેવુબેને સાસરે જવાની સ્પષ્ટ ના પાડી દીધી!
પિતા નાથાભાઈએ આ વાત માનકુવા પધારેલા શ્રીજીમહારાજ સમક્ષ મૂકી. મહારાજે દેવુબેનને સમજાવ્યા ત્યારે રડતાં રડતાં તેમણે સાસરાના કુકર્મો અને વ્યસનોની વ્યથા જણાવી કહ્યું, “મહારાજ! એવા વાતાવરણમાં મારો સત્સંગ અને નિયમ-ધર્મ લોપાઈ જશે!” શ્રીહરિએ સસરાને બોલાવી પુત્રના પુનર્લગ્નનો ખર્ચ પોતે આપવાની રજૂઆત કરી, પરંતુ સસરા માન્યા નહીં. આખરે દેવુબેને બે હાથ જોડી પ્રભુ સમક્ષ શરત મૂકી: “હે મહારાજ! જો આપ સ્વયં મારી સાથે વથોણ આવો, તો જ હું સાસરે પગ મૂકું!” ભક્તવત્સલ શ્રીહરિએ તેમની આ વિનંતી સહર્ષ સ્વીકારી લીધી!
બીજે દિવસે માનકુવામાં થાળ જમી શ્રીજીમહારાજ દેવુબેનના સસરા સાથે એક ગાડામાં બેઠા અને બીજા ગાડામાં દેવુબેન બેઠાં. માર્ગમાં જતાં જતાં શ્રીહરિએ સસરા સાથે સ્નેહપૂર્વક વાતો કરી અને તેમના પર એવી દિવ્ય કૃપાદ્રષ્ટિ કરી કે એક જ ઝાટકે સસરાનું અંતઃકરણ સંપૂર્ણ પલટાઈ ગયું! હુક્કા-તમાકુના તમામ વ્યસનો તત્ક્ષણ છૂટી ગયાં અને તેઓ શ્રીહરિના શરણાગત થઈ ગયા!
વથોણ પહોંચીને સસરાએ શ્રીજીમહારાજને પોતાના ઘેર અત્યંત આગ્રહપૂર્વક ઘણા દિવસો સુધી રોક્યા. શ્રીહરિના પાવન સંગથી દેવુબેનના સસરાનું આખું કુટુંબ અને સમસ્ત વથોણ ગામ સ્વામિનારાયણ સંપ્રદાયના રંગે રંગાઈ સત્સંગી બની ગયું! આમ, ભક્તના પ્રેમને વશ થઈ શ્રીહરિ સ્વયં તેને સાસરે મૂકવા પધાર્યા.

वथोण की देवूबेन सुतार को ससुराल पहुँचाने श्रीहरि का शुभागमन और श्वसुर कुल का सत्संग-परिवर्तन
कच्छ के मानकुवा निवासी नाथाभाई सुतार की पुत्री देवूबेन का विवाह बाल्यकाल में वथोण गाँव में हुआ था। बाद में मायके में सत्संग आने से सबने अभक्ष्य एवं व्यसन त्याग दिए, किंतु ससुराल में मद्य-धूम्रपान का बोलबाला था। अतः देवूबेन ने ऐसे व्यसनी परिवार में ससुराल जाने से इनकार कर दिया।
जब श्रीजी महाराज मानकुवा पधारे, तो देवूबेन ने प्रार्थना की, “महाराज! यदि आप स्वयं मेरे साथ वथोण पधारें, तभी मैं ससुराल जाऊँगी!” प्रभु सहमत हो गए।
यात्रा में श्रीजी महाराज देवूबेन के ससुर के साथ बैलगाड़ी में बैठे। मार्ग में चर्चा करते हुए प्रभु ने उन पर ऐसी अलौकिक कृपादृष्टि की कि ससुर का हृदय पूर्णतः परिवर्तित हो गया और उन्होंने समस्त व्यसन त्यागकर सत्संग अंगीकार कर लिया।
वथोण पहुँचकर प्रभु कई दिनों तक उनके घर विराजे। परिणामतः ससुर का समूचा परिवार और पूरा वथोण गाँव स्वामिनारायण सत्संगी बन गया!

Devuben Suthar of Vathon: Shrihari Personally Escorting His Devotee to Her In-laws and Transforming an Entire Village
In the village of Vathon in Kutch lived Devuben Suthar, an exceptionally devoted female disciple of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. She was the daughter of Nathabhai Suthar of Mankuva.
In accordance with prevailing social customs, Devuben had been married into a family in Vathon during early childhood. Later in life, her paternal family embraced Satsang, renouncing onions, garlic, and all intoxicants like tobacco and alcohol. Conversely, her in-laws’ household in Vathon was heavily steeped in bad habits and addictions. Consequently, the pious Devuben flatly refused to relocate to such a toxic domestic environment. When her father-in-law arrived in Mankuva to escort her, she adamantly refused to depart.
When the matter was placed before Shreeji Maharaj during His visit to Mankuva, Devuben wept and explained her predicament: “O Maharaj! In that house of vices, my devotion and spiritual vows will be ruined! If You personally accompany me to my in-laws’ home in Vathon, only then shall I set foot there!” Ever ready to protect His devotees, the Lord graciously agreed!
The following morning, Shreeji Maharaj sat inside a bullock cart alongside Devuben’s father-in-law, while Devuben rode in a second cart. As they traveled, Shrihari conversed affectionately with the father-in-law, casting a single profound glance of transcendental grace upon him. In that transformative moment, decades of demonic vices dissolved, and the father-in-law’s heart was completely purified! He cast away his tobacco and surrendered at Shrihari’s lotus feet.
Upon arriving in Vathon, the overjoyed father-in-law hosted Shreeji Maharaj at his residence for several days. Through Shrihari’s divine presence, the entire family and virtually the entire village of Vathon embraced the Satsang fold, turning a haven of vices into a sanctuary of devotion.
