ઉપલેટાના સવજીમહારાજે પ્રભુના આદેશથી તૃષ્ણા ત્યજી ચાવીઓ સોંપી; જેઠ સુદ પૂનમે ગામજનો સમક્ષ વિમાનમાં પધારેલા શ્રીહરિ સાથે અક્ષરધામ સિધાવ્યા.
સૌરાષ્ટ્રના ઉપલેટા નગરમાં લાલાબાપા અને અરજણબાપા જેવા પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજના પરમ સ્નેહી અને અનન્ય નિષ્ઠાવાન એકાંતિક હરિભક્તો રહેતા હતા. એ જ સમયમાં એમનું કુળગોરપદું કરતા વિદ્વાન બ્રાહ્મણ શાસ્ત્રી સવજીમહારાજ વિપ્ર પણ લાલાબાપા આદિના સત્સંગે કરીને સદ્ગુરુ શ્રી અચિંત્યાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારીજી પાસેથી પંચવર્તમાન ધારણ કરી અત્યંત પવિત્ર સત્સંગી બન્યા હતા.
વૃદ્ધાવસ્થામાં સવજીમહારાજ માંદગીના બિછાને પડ્યા. તે સમયે તેમનો વિદ્વાન પુત્ર સુંદરજી શાસ્ત્રી તેમની સેવાચાકરી કરતો હતો. એક દિવસ સવજીમહારાજે પુત્ર સુંદરજીને કહ્યું: “જો બેટા સુંદરજી! જે દિવસથી મારા ગુરુદેવ અચિંત્યાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારીજી પાસેથી મેં વર્તમાન ધારણ કર્યાં, તે દિવસથી મારો કામદોષ તો નષ્ટ થઈ જ ગયો હતો; પરંતુ હવે તો અંતરમાં રહેલા બાકીના ચારેય દોષો પણ સદંતર નાશ પામ્યા છે!” સુંદરજીએ પૂછ્યું: “પિતાજી! એ ચાર દોષો કયા?” સવજીમહારાજે જણાવ્યું: “પ્રથમ ક્રોધ, બીજો માન, ત્રીજો લોભ અને ચોથો તૃષ્ણા!” ત્યારે સુંદરજીએ સ્મિત સાથે કહ્યું: “બાપા! આપે ઘરના ધન-સંપત્તિના પટારાની કૂંચીઓ (ચાવીઓ) હજુ સુધી પોતાના હાથે દોરામાં બાંધી રાખી છે! જો આપ એ કૂંચીઓ મને સોંપી દો, તો માનવું કે આપની તૃષ્ણા સાચે જ નષ્ટ થઈ ગઈ છે!” સવજીમહારાજે સ્વસ્થતાપૂર્વક કહ્યું: “ભલે દીકરા! હું રાત્રે ધ્યાન-સ્મરણમાં શ્રીજીમહારાજને પૂછીને તને કૂંચીઓ આપીશ.”
રાત્રિના સમયે શ્રીજીમહારાજે સવજીમહારાજને દિવ્ય દર્શન આપ્યાં. સવજીમહારાજે કૂંચીઓ વિશે પૂછતાં શ્રીહરિએ આજ્ઞા કરી: “સવજીમહારાજ! તમે પટારાની કૂંચીઓ સુંદરજીને સોંપી દેજો. અને સાંભળો, આવતી જેઠ સુદ પૂનમના દિવસે બપોરે બાર ઉપર બે વાગ્યે (૨:૦૦ કલાકે) અમે તમને સાક્ષાત્ વિમાન લઈને અમારા અક્ષરધામમાં તેડી જઈશું!”
બીજે દિવસે સવારે સવજીમહારાજે પોતાના હાથમાંથી પટારાની ચાવીઓનો જૂડો છોડી સુંદરજીના હાથમાં સોંપી દીધો અને સંપૂર્ણપણે નિર્વાસનિક બની શ્રીહરિની મૂર્તિમાં લીન થઈ ગયા.
જેઠ સુદ પૂનમનો દિવસ આવ્યો. સવારે સવજીમહારાજે પુત્રને કહ્યું: “સુંદરજી! આજે બપોરે બે વાગ્યે શ્રીજીમહારાજ મને તેડવા આવવાના છે, માટે તું અહીં ગાયના છાણથી લીંપીને પવિત્ર આસન તૈયાર કર!” સુંદરજીએ શાળાએ જવાની ઉતાવળમાં કહ્યું: “બાપા! આપ ઘણા દિવસથી કહો છો, એમ કાંઈ ધામમાં જવાતું હશે? મારે નિશાળે જવું છે.” સવજીમહારાજે કહ્યું: “સારું, નિશાળે જતાં જતાં ગામના ચોરે બેઠેલા કેશવ વાણંદને અહીં મોકલજે, મારે અંતિમ ક્ષૌરકર્મ (વત્તું) કરાવવું છે.” સુંદરજીએ ચોરે જઈ કેશવ વાણંદને કહ્યું: “મારા બાપાને આજે બપોરે બે વાગ્યે ધામમાં જવું છે, માટે જઈને વત્તું કરી આવો!” ચોરે બેઠેલા ગામના અગ્રણીઓ આ સાંભળી દંગ રહી ગયા. કેશવ વાણંદે આવી ક્ષૌરકર્મ કરી આપ્યું.
સવજીમહારાજે સ્નાન કરી નવાં ધોયેલાં શ્વેત વસ્ત્રો, નવી કંઠી અને પવિત્ર જનોઈ ધારણ કર્યાં. હાથમાં માળા લઈને તેઓ ઓસરીમાં ઊંચા સ્વરે “સ્વામિનારાયણ… સ્વામિનારાયણ…” સ્મરણ કરતાં આંટા મારવા લાગ્યા.
બપોરે શાળામાંથી સુંદરજી ઘેર આવ્યો ત્યારે પિતાને હસતા મુખે ઓસરીમાં ફરતા જોઈ બોલ્યો: “બાપા! બપોરનો એક વાગી ગયો છે. જો આપ ધામમાં નહીં જાઓ અને વાત ખોટી પડશે, તો લોકોમાં આપણી આબરૂ જશે અને લોકો કહેશે કે સ્વામિનારાયણવાળા ખોટું બોલે છે!” સવજીમહારાજે ગંભીરતાથી કહ્યું: “દીકરા! શ્રીહરિનું વચન ક્યારેય મિથ્યા ન હોય! તું ગાયનું છાણ લાવી તુરંત અહીં લીંપી દે.” સુંદરજીએ ઓસરીમાં લીંપણ કરી કણબીના ઘેરથી કાળા તલ લાવી પાથર્યા. ગામના યુવાનો ગંગાજળ લાવ્યા, જે સવજીમહારાજે ગાળીને પીધું. તે સમયે આ અદ્ભુત ઘટના જોવા ગામમાંથી બસો-અઢીસો લોકોનું મોટું ટોળું ફળિયામાં એકઠું થઈ ગયું હતું!
બરાબર બપોરના બે વાગ્યા! સવજીમહારાજે લીંપેલા આસન પર પદ્માસન વાળીને બેસતાં જ ઉચ્ચ સ્વરે પુકાર કર્યો: “જુઓ! સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજ દિવ્ય વિમાન લઈને મને તેડવા પધાર્યા છે! અને એમની સાથે સદ્ગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી, સદ્ગુરુ ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામી, મારા ગુરુ અચિંત્યાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારીજી તથા આપણા ઉપલેટાના લાલાબાપા, અરજણબાપા અને રતનભાઈ પણ વિમાનમાં બિરાજમાન છે!” આમ પ્રત્યક્ષ દર્શન કરતાં કરતાં ભજનના નારા સાથે સવજીમહારાજે ક્ષણવારમાં દેહત્યાગ કર્યો અને અક્ષરધામમાં સિધાવી ગયા!
બપોરે બે વાગ્યે આપેલી આગાહી સો ટકા સાચી પડતી જોઈ ઉપસ્થિત અઢીસો ગ્રામજનો અહોભાવથી પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં નમી પડ્યા અને સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનના અગાધ સામર્થ્યનો જયજયકાર કર્યો!

उपलेटा में शास्त्री सावजीमहाराज की गुरुभक्ति, तिजोरी की चाबियाँ और ज्येष्ठ पूर्णिमा को अक्षरधाम गमन
उपलेटा के विद्वान शास्त्री सावजीमहाराज सदगुरु अचिंत्यानंद ब्रह्मचारीजी से दीक्षित होकर निष्ठावान सत्संगी बने थे।
वृद्धावस्था में उन्होंने पुत्र सुंदरजी से कहा कि मेरे पाँचों विकार नष्ट हो गए हैं। सुंदरजी ने कहा कि तिजोरी की चाबियाँ मुझे दे दें तो मानूँ कि तृष्णा मिटी। रात्रि में श्रीजीमहाराज ने दर्शन देकर चाबियाँ सौंपने और ज्येष्ठ पूर्णिमा को दोपहर दो बजे अक्षरधाम ले जाने का वचन दिया।
सावजीमहाराज ने चाबियाँ सौंप दीं। ज्येष्ठ पूर्णिमा के दिन उन्होंने केश कटवाए, स्नान कर श्वेत वस्त्र और नई जनेऊ पहनी। पुत्र ने गाय के गोबर से लीपन किया। दोपहर ठीक दो बजे दो-ढाई सौ ग्रामीणों के सम्मुख उन्होंने पुकारा: “श्रीजीमहाराज दिव्य विमान लेकर आए हैं, साथ में गोपालानंद स्वामी, गुणातीतानंद स्वामी, मेरे गुरु अचिंत्यानंदजी और लालाबापा भी हैं!” और वे देहत्याग कर अक्षरधाम सिधार गए।

Shastri Savjimaharaj of Upleta: Total Detachment, Surrendering the Keys, and Foretold Departure on Jeth Poonam
In the town of Upleta in Saurashtra lived Lalabapa and Arjanbapa, ardent and deeply devoted disciples of Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj. Their scholarly family priest, Shastri Savjimaharaj, was deeply influenced by their noble devotion and formally accepted the five moral vows from Sadguru Achintyanand Brahmachariji, blossoming into an exemplary, pious satsangi scholar.
In his twilight years, Savjimaharaj fell bedridden with illness. His learned son, Sunderji Shastri, attended to his personal care. One day, Savjimaharaj addressed his son: “Look, son Sunderji! Ever since the day I accepted initiation from my guru, Achintyanand Brahmachariji, lust was utterly eradicated from my heart; but today, the remaining four inner vices have likewise been thoroughly vanquished!” Sunderji asked: “Father, which are those four vices?” Savjimaharaj replied: “First anger, second pride, third greed, and fourth worldly desire (trishna)!” Sunderji smiled affectionately and countered: “Father! You still keep the heavy iron keys to the family treasure chest firmly tied to your wrist with a sacred cord! If you surrender those keys to me, only then shall I truly believe that desire has departed!” Savjimaharaj calmly responded: “Very well, my son! Tonight in my prayers, I shall seek permission from Lord Shreeji Maharaj and surrender the keys to you.”
That night, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj granted a radiant vision to Savjimaharaj. When Savjimaharaj inquired regarding the keys, Shreehari commanded: “Savjimaharaj! Hand over the keys to Sunderji at once. Furthermore, know with certainty that on the upcoming full moon day of Jeth (Jeth Sud Poonam), at precisely two o’clock in the afternoon, We shall descend in person with a celestial chariot to escort you to Our eternal abode of Akshardham!”
The following morning, Savjimaharaj untied the ring of keys from his wrist, placed them in Sunderji’s hands, and remained completely absorbed in contemplation of Shreehari’s divine form.
The full moon day of Jeth arrived. In the morning, Savjimaharaj instructed his son: “Sunderji! Today at two o’clock in the afternoon, Shreeji Maharaj will arrive to escort me; sanctify this spot with fresh cow-dung plaster to prepare my final seat!” Hurrying to attend school, Sunderji remarked skeptically: “Father! You have spoken of this for days; can one simply depart for God’s abode on schedule like this?” Savjimaharaj replied: “Very well, but on your way, please dispatch Keshav the village barber from the village square to shave my head for my final rites.” Sunderji conveyed the request to Keshav in the town square: “My father intends to depart for the divine abode at two o’clock this afternoon, so please go and shave his head!” The village elders assembled at the square were astounded. Keshav hurried over and performed the shaving.
Savjimaharaj bathed, donned spotless white robes, and put on a fresh kanthi and sacred thread (janoi). Holding his rosary, he paced back and forth along the veranda, chanting “Swaminarayan… Swaminarayan…” in a ringing, joyful voice.
When Sunderji returned home at one o’clock, he saw his father smiling energetically and exclaimed in worry: “Father! It is already one o’clock. If you do not pass away and this prediction proves false, our family honor will be ruined and people will mock the Swaminarayan fellowship as untruthful!” Savjimaharaj said with absolute serenity: “Son! The promise of the Supreme Lord can never fail! Fetch fresh cow dung and plaster the floor immediately.” Sunderji plastered the veranda and scattered sacred sesame seeds upon it. Village youths brought sanctified Ganga water, which Savjimaharaj strained and drank. By this time, hearing rumors of the impending departure, a crowd of over two hundred and fifty villagers had gathered in the courtyard!
At precisely two o’clock, Savjimaharaj sat down upon the plastered ground in the lotus posture (padmasana) and proclaimed aloud with eyes wide with wonder: “Behold! Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj has arrived in a resplendent celestial chariot to take me home! Seated beside Him in the chariot are Sadguru Gopalanand Swami, Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami, my revered guru Achintyanand Brahmachariji, and our fellow Upleta devotees Lalabapa, Arjanbapa, and Ratanbhai!” Chanting the divine name with his final breath, Savjimaharaj peacefully released his life-force and ascended to Akshardham!
Witnessing this exact prediction fulfilled to the very minute before their own eyes, all two hundred and fifty villagers bowed in profound reverence, glorifying the unmatched divine power of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan!
