સાવરકુંડલાના કંદોઈ ભાઈઓ કરશનજી અને પ્રાગજી સુખડીયાએ સત્સંગની ટેક માટે સામાજિક બહિષ્કાર સહન કર્યો; સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીના વરદાનથી જમણવારની બગડેલી ચાસણી સુધારી મહાજનમાં સન્માનભેર પરત સ્થાન મેળવ્યું.
સાવરકુંડલા નગરમાં કરશનજી અને પ્રાગજી નામે બે સગા સુખડીયા (કંદોઈ) ભાઈઓ રહેતા હતા. તેઓ ગઢપુરમાં સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી પાસે કથાવાર્તા સાંભળી શ્રીજીમહારાજના સ્વરૂપનો દ્રઢ નિશ્ચય કરી કંઠી ધારણ કરી સત્સંગી બન્યા હતા. ગામમાં પાછા આવ્યા ત્યારે જ્ઞાતિના પંચને જાણ થતાં બંને ભાઈઓને સત્સંગ છોડી દેવા દબાણ કર્યું અને નાતબહાર મૂકવાની ધમકી આપી. બંને ભાઈઓએ શૂરવીરતાપૂર્વક કહ્યું, “ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી જેવા સમર્થ સંતના યોગે અમને પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ નારાયણ મળ્યા છે; અમારો પ્રાણ ભલે જાય, પણ કંઠી નહીં ઊતરે!” જ્ઞાતિજનોએ તેમને નાતબહાર મૂકી તેમની દુકાનેથી માલ લેવા પર પ્રતિબંધ મૂક્યો.
ઘણા મહિના સુધી સામાજિક બહિષ્કાર સહન કરીને પણ બંને ભાઈઓ સત્સંગમાં અડગ રહ્યા. તેઓ ગઢપુર દર્શને ગયા અને ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી સમક્ષ પોતાની વ્યથા જણાવી. સ્વામીએ બંનેના માથે હાથ મૂકી આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા: “તમે શ્રીહરિનો નિશ્ચય અંતરમાં દ્રઢ રાખ્યો છે, માટે જાઓ, શ્રીજીમહારાજ તમને ચોક્કસ સહાય કરશે! તમારી નાત જ તમને સામેથી માનપૂર્વક તેડાવશે અને સર્વે દુઃખ દૂર થશે!”
થોડા સમય પછી કુંડલાના એક અતિ ધનિક શાહુકારના ઘેર મોટો લગ્ન-જમણવાર હતો. આખા ગામ અને નાતને નોતરું હતું, સિવાય કે આ બે ભાઈઓ. જમણવારની મીઠાઈ બનાવતાં કંદોઈએ ખાંડની ચાસણી લીધી, પણ ચાસણી કાં તો નરમ થઈ જતી અથવા કડક પથ્થર જેવી થઈ જતી! કોઈ પણ રીતે પાક સારો થતો ન હતો અને સેંકડો મણ ઘી-ખાંડ બગડવાના આરે હતાં. કોઈએ શાહુકારને કહ્યું, “કરશનજી અને પ્રાગજી ચાસણી લેવામાં પ્રવીણ છે; તેમને બોલાવો તો જ રસોડું સુધરશે!”
પ્રસંગ બગડવાના ભયથી શાહુકારે તુરંત બંને ભાઈઓને આદરપૂર્વક તેડાવ્યા. બંને ભાઈઓએ આવીને કડાઈઓમાં ચાસણીનો યોગ્ય મેળ બેસાડી દીધો અને થોડી જ વારમાં ઉત્કૃષ્ટ મીઠાઈઓ તૈયાર થઈ ગઈ! ધનિક શેઠે ગદ્ગદ થઈ કહ્યું, “આજે આપે મારી આબરૂ બચાવી લીધી છે; આપ જમ્યા વિના નહીં જાઓ!” નાતના લોકો જમવા બેઠા ત્યારે શેઠે છડેચોક જાહેરાત કરી, “આજે આખી નાતને કરશનજી અને પ્રાગજી જ પીરસશે! જે કોઈ પંગતમાંથી ઊઠશે તેને નાતબહાર ગણવામાં આવશે; હું આ બંને ધર્મનિષ્ઠ ભાઈઓના પક્ષમાં છું!” સમગ્ર મહાજને પોતાની ભૂલ સ્વીકારી બંને ભાઈઓની માફી માંગી અને સન્માનભેર નાતમાં પુનઃ સ્થાન આપ્યું.
આમ, સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીના વચનથી કરશનજી અને પ્રાગજીનો સત્સંગ-ટેક સમગ્ર પંથકમાં દીપી ઊઠ્યો.

सावरकुंडला के हलवाई बंधु करशनजी और प्रागजी गढपुर में सद्गुरु गोपाळानंद स्वामी के सत्संग से स्वामिनारायण संप्रदाय के निष्ठावान भक्त बने। जाति के पंचों ने उन्हें जाति से बहिष्कृत कर दिया और उनकी दुकान से सामान लेने पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया, किंतु दोनों भाई धर्म पर अडिग रहे।
गढपुर में गोपाळानंद स्वामी ने आशीर्वाद दिया, “प्रभु आपकी सहायता करेंगे और यही समाज आपका सम्मान करेगा।”
कालांतर में गाँव के एक धनी सेठ के यहाँ विशाल विवाह-भोज था। कारीगरों से मिठाई की चाशनी बिगड़ गई और सारा घी-अनाज व्यर्थ होने लगा। विवश होकर सेठ ने दोनों भाइयों को बुलाया। उन्होंने तुरंत आकर चाशनी ठीक कर दी और उत्तम मिठाइयाँ तैयार हो गईं।
सेठ ने कृतज्ञ होकर भरी सभा में घोषणा की कि आज समस्त जाति को करशनजी और प्रागजी ही भोजन परोसेंगे और जो इसका विरोध करेगा, वह बहिष्कृत समझा जाएगा। पूरी जाति ने नतमस्तक होकर दोनों भाइयों से क्षमा माँगी और उन्हें ससम्मान जाति में पुनः प्रतिष्ठित किया।

Karshanji and Pragji Sukhadia of Savarkundla: Gopalanand Swami’s Blessing and Restored Honor in the Sugar Syrup Test
In the town of Savarkundla lived two confectionery brothers named Karshanji and Pragji Sukhadia. Upon hearing spiritual discourses from Sadguru Gopalanand Swami in Gadhpur, they developed unwavering faith in Bhagwan Swaminarayan and received sacred vows. When the local caste leadership discovered their allegiance, they subjected the brothers to severe harassment, threatening social excommunication unless they renounced Satsang. The heroic brothers replied fearlessly: “Through the grace of such an exalted saint as Gopalanand Swami, we have recognized the Supreme Being; take our very lives if you must, but our sacred kanthis shall never be surrendered!” The council formally excommunicated them, boycotting their sweet shop.
Enduring months of social ostracization without bitterness, the brothers traveled to Gadhpur and poured out their hearts before Gopalanand Swami. Swami placed his blessed hands upon their heads: “Because you held fast to your spiritual conviction, Shreeji Maharaj shall unfailingly come to your aid! That very same caste council shall invite you with highest honors, and all your grief will vanish!”
Shortly thereafter, a prominent wealthy merchant in Savarkundla organized a lavish wedding banquet for the entire town, inviting everyone except the two ostracized brothers. During preparation, the hired confectioners repeatedly failed to achieve the correct consistency for the boiling sugar syrup (chasni)—it either turned overly hard like stone or ruined into syrup, threatening hundreds of kilograms of costly ghee and sugar. An attendant advised the merchant: “Karshanji and Pragji are master artisans of sugar syrup; summon them at once, or your entire feast will be ruined!”
Fearing complete social humiliation, the merchant personally requested the brothers’ help with folded hands. Karshanji and Pragji immediately arrived, skillfully corrected the temperature and chemistry of the boiling syrup, and within hours produced flawless, delectable sweets! Overcome with gratitude, the merchant addressed the assembled gathering: “Today, Karshanji and Pragji alone shall serve the entire assembly! Whoever objects to their presence may leave the banquet, for I stand unconditionally in support of these righteous men!” Humbled, the entire community apologized to the brothers, reinstating them with immense honor.
Thus, through their unflinching fidelity to Satsang and the benediction of Sadguru Gopalanand Swami, the brothers triumphed over all adversity.
