પીજ ગામે ખૂંખાર લૂંટારા તખા પગીનો હાથ પકડી શ્રીહરિએ કરુણા વરસાવી તેનું હૃદય પરિવર્તન કરી પરમ ભક્ત બનાવ્યો.
શ્રીહરિની પાવન આજ્ઞાથી સદગુરુ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી ચરોતર પ્રદેશના વડતાલ આસપાસનાં ગામોમાં વિચરણ કરીને મુમુક્ષુ જીવોને સત્સંગનું અમૃતપાન કરાવી રહ્યા હતા. સ્વામીના બ્રહ્મતેજ અને કરુણાભરી વાણીથી અનેક કઠોર હૃદયના લોકો પણ સદાચારના માર્ગે વળ્યા હતા.
એક વખત પરબ્રહ્મ શ્રીજીમહારાજ સ્વયં પીજ ગામે પધાર્યા. તે સમયે વડતાલ, બામરોલી વગેરે આસપાસના વિસ્તારોમાંથી જોબન પગી, રૂડીયો રખડુ અને તખા પગી જેવા અઠંગ બહારવટિયા અને લૂંટારાઓ પણ શ્રીહરિના દર્શને આવ્યા. તખા પગી સમગ્ર ચરોતરમાં એક ખૂંખાર, નિર્દય અને ત્રાસવાદી લૂંટારા તરીકે પંકાયેલો હતો. નિર્દોષ લોકોને લૂંટવા અને હિંસા આચરવી એ તેનો નિત્યક્રમ હતો.
જ્યારે તખા પગી શ્રીહરિ સમક્ષ આવીને ઊભો રહ્યો, ત્યારે સર્વજ્ઞ શ્રીહરિએ તેના પ્રત્યે કોઈ તિરસ્કાર દાખવ્યા વિના અતિ પ્રેમ અને વાત્સલ્યભાવથી તેનો હાથ પોતાના પવિત્ર કરકમળમાં પકડી લીધો. શ્રીહરિએ અત્યંત કરુણાસભર શબ્દોમાં કહ્યું:
“તખા પગી! ભગવાને આ અમૂલ્ય મનુષ્ય દેહ કોઈના ઘર લૂંટવા કે જીવોની હિંસા કરવા માટે નથી આપ્યો; આ દેહ તો પરમાત્માને ઓળખીને પોતાના આત્માનું કલ્યાણ સાધવા માટે મળ્યો છે. તમે અત્યાર સુધી અનેક ઘરો ઉજ્જડ કર્યાં, અનેક નિર્દોષોને રડાવ્યા, છતાં તમારા જીવનમાં શાંતિ આવી? જે કાંઈ લૂંટનો માલ હડપ કર્યો એ તો વ્યસનો અને દુષ્કર્મોમાં ઊડી ગયો અને પાછળ રહી ગયા કેવળ પાપના ભયંકર પોટલાં!”
શ્રીહરિના મુખેથી વહેતી અમૃતવાણી અને કરુણાપૂર્ણ સ્પર્શથી તખા પગીના પથ્થર જેવા હૃદયમાં પરિવર્તનની સરવાણી ફૂટી. અંતરમાંથી ક્રૂરતા અને કઠોરતા ઓગળી ગઈ અને પશ્ચાત્તાપના પાવન અશ્રુઓ વહેવા લાગ્યા. પરબ્રહ્મ પુરુષોત્તમ નારાયણના બ્રહ્મવચનો તેના અંતરાત્માની આરપાર ઊતરી ગયા.
તખા પગીએ તત્કાળ ઘૂંટણિયે પડી, બંને હાથ જોડીને શ્રીહરિના ચરણકમળમાં મસ્તક મૂકી દીધું અને ગદ્ગદ કંઠે પ્રાર્થના કરી: “હે પ્રભુ! હે અધમોદ્ધારણ! હે પતિતપાવન! આજે તમે દયા કરીને મારો હાથ પકડ્યો છે, તો હવે ક્યારેય છોડશો નહીં! મારાં પાપો અને અવગુણોનો કોઈ પાર નથી, પણ આપ મારા અવગુણો સામે ન જોતાં આપના શરણમાં રાખી લો!”
ભગવાન શ્રીહરિ તખા પગીની નિષ્કપટ શરણાગતિ જોઈ અત્યંત પ્રસન્ન થયા. તેમણે તખા પગીના મસ્તક પર પોતાના બંને વરદહસ્ત મૂકી તેને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા, કંઠી બાંધી પંચવર્તમાન ધરાવ્યા અને એક ખૂંખાર લૂંટારામાંથી પરમ વૈષ્ણવ સંત સમાન ભક્ત બનાવી દીધો.

पीज में सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी का सत्संग प्रभाव और लुटेरे तखा पगी का हृदय परिवर्तन
श्रीहरि की आज्ञा से सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी वड़ताल के समीपवर्ती गाँवों में विचरण कर मुमुक्षुओं को सत्संग के रंग में रंग रहे थे। एक बार जब साक्षात श्रीजीमहाराज पीज गाँव पधारे, तो जोबन पगी, रूडीया रखडू के साथ तखा पगी भी दर्शनार्थ आया। तखा पगी पूरे चरोतर क्षेत्र का एक कुख्यात, क्रूर और निर्दयी लुटेरा था, जिसकी क्रूरता से लोग काँपते थे।
जब तखा पगी श्रीहरि के सम्मुख आया, तो करुणामय प्रभु ने बिना किसी घृणा के उसका हाथ अपने करकमलों में थाम लिया और परम वात्सल्य से बोले:
“तखा पगी! ईश्वर ने यह अमूल्य मानव देह लूटपाट और हिंसा के लिए नहीं, बल्कि परमात्मा का भजन कर मोक्ष पाने के लिए दी है। तुमने अनेक घर उजाड़े, निर्दोषों को सताया, किंतु क्या तुम्हें सच्ची शांति मिली? लूटा हुआ धन व्यसनों में उड़ गया और पल्ले बँधे केवल पाप के भारी बोझ!”
श्रीहरि के इन अमृतमयी वचनों और स्पर्श से तखा पगी का पाषाणवत हृदय पिघल गया। उसकी क्रूरता समाप्त हो गई और आँखों से पश्चाताप के अश्रु बहने लगे।
तखा पगी ने घुटनों के बल बैठकर श्रीहरि के चरणों में मस्तक रख दिया और हाथ जोड़कर प्रार्थना की: “हे प्रभु! हे अधम-उद्धारण! आज आपने मेरा हाथ थामा है, तो अब इसे कभी मत छोड़ना! मेरे पापों का कोई अंत नहीं, किंतु आप मेरे अवगुणों को न देखकर अपने चरणों की शरण दीजिए!”
श्रीहरि अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने तखा पगी के मस्तक पर अपने दोनों हाथ रखकर आशीर्वाद दिया, कंठी बाँधी और एक भयंकर डाकू को परम पावन भक्त बना दिया।

Sadguru Muktanand Swami’s Satsang Influence at Pij and the Miraculous Spiritual Awakening of Bandit Takha Pagi
Acting on the divine command of Shreehari, Sadguru Muktanand Swami was touring the villages surrounding Vadtal, showering the nectar of Satsang upon earnest seekers. Sometime later, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj personally visited the village of Pij. Among the gathering of devotees from Vadtal and Bamroli were notorious outlaws such as Joban Pagi, Rudiyo Rakhadu, and Takha Pagi. Takha Pagi was a dreaded and ruthless bandit whose very name struck terror across the entire Charotar region.
When Takha Pagi approached Shreehari, the merciful Lord harbored no disdain whatsoever. Instead, Shreehari affectionately grasped Takha’s rough hand in His own tender lotus hands and spoke words flowing with boundless spiritual compassion:
“Takha Pagi! The Almighty did not bestow this priceless human body for violence and pillage; this sacred gift is granted solely to realize God and attain eternal salvation. You have wrecked countless homes and tormented the innocent, yet has it brought peace to your soul? The plundered wealth has vanished in vices, leaving behind only colossal mountains of sinful karma!”
Shreehari’s pure, compassionate words and divine touch pierced the hardened crust of Takha’s heart. Cruelty and ruthlessness melted away, replaced by an upsurge of profound remorse and spiritual awakening. Tears of heartfelt repentance streamed from his eyes.
Falling to his knees, Takha buried his head at Shreehari’s lotus feet, pleading with folded hands: “O Lord! O Redeemer of the fallen! Today You have graciously taken hold of my hand; please never let it go! My sins are beyond measure, yet look not upon my vices, but shelter me eternally at Your lotus feet!”
Deeply moved by Takha Pagi’s genuine, wholehearted surrender, Shreeji Maharaj placed both His sanctifying hands upon his head. Bestowing the tulsi kanthi and sacred moral vows, the Lord transformed the once-dreaded bandit into a devout, gentle servant of God.
