સાવરકુંડલાના મેંકડામાં સંતસેવા કરતાં ઠારણભાઈ સોનીના ઘરમાં પત્નીના તીવ્ર કલેશ વચ્ચે સંતોએ ક્ષમા અને ધીરજ દાખવી ગામમાં ભિક્ષા માંગી લીધી અને પરિવારમાં સત્સંગ પ્રગટે તેવી પ્રાર્થના કરી.
સાવરકુંડલા પંથકના મેંકડા ગામે સદગુરુ યોગાનંદ સ્વામીના સત્સંગ વિચરણના યોગથી ઠારણભાઈ પરજિયા સોનીને સત્સંગ થયો હતો. તેઓ અખંડ ‘સ્વામિનારાયણ… સ્વામિનારાયણ…’ મહામંત્રનું રટણ કરતા અને ગામમાં જ્યારે પણ સંતો પધારતા ત્યારે છાશ, જળ અને સીધું આપીને હૃદયપૂર્વક સેવા કરતા. પરંતુ તેમનાં પત્નીને આ જરાય ગમતું નહીં; તેઓ સતત કજિયો-કંકાસ કરી ઠારણભાઈને મેણાં-ટોણાં મારતાં. ઠારણભગત સંસારને દુઃખરૂપ માની મૂંગા મોઢે બધું સહન કરી લેતા હતા.
એક દિવસ જૂનાગઢથી સંતોનું મંડળ ગામના હરિમંદિરે પધાર્યું. ઠારણભાઈ સંતોના દર્શને ગયા અને પ્રાર્થના કરી, “સ્વામી! આવતીકાલે ઠાકોરજીનો થાળ અને સંતોની રસોઈ મારા તરફથી સ્વીકારજો!” મંદિરેથી ઘેર જતાં તેમણે રસ્તામાં રહેતી એક નિરાધાર વૃદ્ધાને કહ્યું, “બહેન! હું દુકાનેથી પાંચ શેર ઘઉં અપાવું છું; તે દળીને સવારે લોટ મંદિરે પહોંચાડી દેજો. તમને દળામણની બમણી મજૂરી આપીશ. આ વાત ઘરમાં કોઈને કહેશો નહીં, નહીંતર કજિયો થશે.” તેમણે કરિયાણાની દુકાનેથી ઘી, તેલ, ગોળ અને મસાલા પણ સવારે મંદિરે મોકલવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરી દીધી.
પ્રભાતમાં ઠારણભાઈનાં પત્ની કૂવે પાણી ભરવા ગયાં ત્યારે પેલી ભોળી નિરાધાર બહેન ઉતાવળે પાણી સીંચી ચાલવા લાગ્યાં. પૂછતાં તેમણે કહી દીધું, “આજે મંદિરે સાધુઓને તમારી રસોઈ છે, માટે ઠારણભાઈએ મને ઘઉં દળીને લોટ પહોંચાડવા કહ્યું છે એટલે ઉતાવળ છે!” આ સાંભળતાં જ ઠારણભાઈની પત્ની ક્રોધથી લાલચોળ થઈ ગયાં. ઘેર આવીને તેમણે આક્રોશમાં મેડા પર દોરડું બાંધી ગળે ફાંસો ખાવાનો પ્રયાસ કર્યો! દૈવયોગે દોરડામાં ગાંઠ આવી જતાં જીવ બચી ગયો અને પુત્રે દોડી આવી તલવારથી દોરડું કાપી માતાને નીચે ઉતારી.
મંદિરે આ સમાચાર પહોંચતાં જ સંતોએ ઠારણભાઈને તુરંત ઘેર જઈ પત્નીની સારવાર કરવા કહ્યું: “ભગત! આપ ઘેર જાઓ અને એમની સારસંભાળ લો. અમારા માટે રસોઈનું સીધું મોકલશો નહીં; અમે તો ગામમાંથી ભિક્ષા માંગીને ચલાવી લઈશું! અમે શ્રીહરિને પ્રાર્થના કરીએ છીએ કે તમારા ઘરમાં સત્સંગનો સાચો દીવો પ્રગટે અને સૌના અંતરમાં સંતો પ્રત્યે નિર્દોષભાવ આવે!”
ઠારણભાઈએ ઘેર જઈ પત્નીની સેવા કરી. સંતોએ કઠોર વિરોધ સામે પણ અપ્રતિમ ક્ષમા અને કરુણા દર્શાવી શ્રીહરિની ભક્તિનો આદર્શ પ્રગટ કર્યો.

मेंकडा के ठारणभाई सोनी की साधु-सेवा: पारिवारिक विरोध के मध्य धैर्य और संतों की प्रार्थना
सावरकुंडला के निकट मेंकडा गाँव में सद्गुरु योगानंद स्वामी के सत्संग-प्रचार से ठारणभाई परजिया सोनी सत्संगी बने थे। वे नित्य स्वामिनारायण महामंत्र का जप करते और संतों की सेवा करते, किंतु उनकी पत्नी सत्संग से तीव्र द्वेष रखती थी।
एक बार जूनागढ़ से संतों के पधारने पर ठारणभाई ने गुप्त रूप से एक निर्धन महिला को गेहूँ देकर आटा पिसवाकर मंदिर भेजने और दुकान से घी-सामग्री की व्यवस्था की, ताकि घर में कलह न हो। प्रातः कुएँ पर उस भोली महिला के मुख से यह बात जानकर ठारणभाई की पत्नी अत्यंत क्रोधित हो गई और घर आकर फाँसी लगाने का प्रयास किया, किंतु पुत्र ने समय रहते बचा लिया।
समाचार पाकर संतों ने ठारणभाई से कहा, “भगत! आप तुरंत घर जाकर पत्नी की सेवा कीजिए। हमारे भोजन की चिंता न करें, हम गाँव से भिक्षा माँगकर निर्वाह कर लेंगे। हम प्रभु से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि आपके परिवार को सद्बुद्धि प्राप्त हो।” संतों की ऐसी असीम क्षमा और करुणा देखकर सब स्तब्ध रह गए।

Tharanbhai Soni of Menkada: Devoted Service to Saints Amid Fierce Domestic Opposition and the Saints’ Compassion
In the village of Menkada near Savarkundla, Tharanbhai Parajiya Soni embraced Satsang through the spiritual travels of Sadguru Yoganand Swami. He continually chanted the divine Swaminarayan Mahamantra and served visiting ascetics with milk, buttermilk, and grains. However, his wife vehemently opposed Satsang, frequently hurling insults and initiating bitter quarrels. Bearing these tribulations patiently, Tharanbhai remained firm in his faith.
Once, a group of ascetics arrived from Junagadh. Tharanbhai prayed to sponsor their sanctified meal for the following day. To avoid strife at home, he arranged for a poor widow to grind five seers of wheat into flour for double the wages and instructed a shopkeeper to deliver ghee and spices directly to the temple at dawn.
The next morning at the village well, the naive widow inadvertently revealed to Tharanbhai’s wife that she was hurrying to deliver flour for the sadhus’ meal sponsored by Tharanbhai. Enraged beyond measure, the wife stormed home and attempted suicide by hanging from the rafters; fortunately, a knot in the rope spared her life, and her son rushed in, cutting the rope with a sword.
When the alarming news reached the temple, the compassionate saints urged Tharanbhai to return home immediately: “Bhagat! Return home at once and attend to your wife! Do not send any provisions for us; we shall sustain ourselves through humble alms from the village! We earnestly pray to Shrihari that the light of true spiritual understanding dawns in your household!” Even in the face of bitter hostility, the saints exemplified sublime forgiveness and unconditional goodwill.
