કારીયાણીમાં શ્રીહરિએ ગોવા પટેલને ચાર વાર નામ પૂછતાં તેમને પ્રભુ પ્રત્યે અભાવ આવ્યો; સર્વજ્ઞ શ્રીહરિએ તેમના અંતરના ગુપ્ત વિચારો પ્રગટ કરતાં ગોવા ભગતે ચરણોમાં માથું મૂકી ક્ષમા માંગી.
તીર્થધામ કારીયાણીમાં વસ્તા ખાચરના દરબારમાં શ્રીજીમહારાજ સભા ભરીને બિરાજતા હતા. તે સમયે ગામના અગ્રણી કણબી ખેડૂત ગોવિંદ પટેલ (ગોવાભાઈ પટેલ) દર્શનાર્થે આવ્યા. પ્રભુએ સન્માનપૂર્વક બેસાડી તેમનું નામ અને ગામ પૂછ્યું. ગોવિંદભાઈએ કહ્યું, “મારું નામ ગોવિંદ અને હું આ કારીયાણી ગામનો જ વતની છું.”
પરંતુ શ્રીજીમહારાજે મનુષ્યચરિત્ર કરતાં-કરતાં ઉપરાઉપરી ચાર વખત અજાણ્યા બનીને ગોવાભાઈને તે જ પ્રશ્ન પૂછ્યો! આથી ગોવાભાઈના મનમાં તીવ્ર અભાવ આવ્યો: “આમને લેશમાત્ર ભાન કે સાન નથી, અને લોકો આમને ભગવાન કહીને બેઠા છે!”
સુધ સાન નથી આને લેશ, પાટે બેઠો થઈ પરમેશ..!
ભોળા લોકોને શું હોય ભાન, બેસાર્યો છે કરી ભગવાન..!
ગોવા પટેલ સભામાંથી ઊભા થઈ ચાલવા લાગ્યા. ત્યારે શ્રીજીમહારાજે સાન કરીને પાસે બોલાવ્યા અને તેમના કુટુંબીઓ, પાડોશીઓનાં નામ તથા ગોવાભાઈના મનમાં ચાલતા અતિ ગુપ્ત સંકલ્પો સભામાં અક્ષરશઃ બોલી બતાવ્યા!
આ સાંભળી ગોવાભાઈ સ્તબ્ધ થઈ ગયા. મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીએ મહારાજને વધુ ન બોલવા વિનંતી કરી. ગોવા પટેલને પોતાની ભૂલ સમજાતાં પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં માથું મૂકી ચોધાર આંસુએ ક્ષમા માંગી. ત્યારબાદ તેઓ ગઢડા જઈ સંતોના સંગમાં રહ્યા અને શ્રીહરિના પૂર્ણ અવતારપણાનો અડગ નિશ્ચય કર્યો.

कारियाणी के गोवा पटेल की परीक्षा और श्रीहरि का अंतर्यामी स्वरूप
कारियाणी में वस्ता खाचर के दरबार में श्रीहरि विराजमान थे। गाँव के कृषक गोविंद पटेल (गोवा पटेल) दर्शनार्थ आए। प्रभु ने नाम और गाँव पूछा, उन्होंने उत्तर दिया।
किंतु श्रीजी महाराज ने लीला करते हुए लगातार चार बार उनसे वही प्रश्न पूछा! गोवा पटेल के मन में तीव्र दुर्भाव आया: “इन्हें तनिक भी सुध-बुध नहीं है, और लोग इन्हें भगवान मान बैठे हैं!” वे सभा से उठने लगे।
तब अंतर्यामी प्रभु ने उन्हें निकट बुलाकर उनके कुल, पड़ोसियों के नाम और उनके मन के गुप्त विचार शब्दशः प्रकट कर दिए! गोवा पटेल का अभिमान चूर हो गया। उन्होंने अश्रुपूरित नेत्रों से प्रभु के चरणों में गिरकर क्षमा याचना की और गढ़डा जाकर संतों के सान्निध्य में दृढ़ सत्संगी बने।

Gova Patel of Kariyani: The Repetitive Question and the Revelation of Omniscience
In Kariyani, Shreeji Maharaj was holding court at Vasta Khachar’s Darbargadh. A prominent local farmer named Govind (Gova) Patel arrived for darshan. Maharaj politely asked his name and village, to which he answered.
However, enacting human-like sport, Shreehari feigned ignorance and asked the exact same question four times in succession! Irritated, Gova Patel thought cynically: “This man possesses no sense or memory at all, yet naive people worship Him as God!” He rose to leave.
At that moment, the omniscient Lord summoned him close and effortlessly enumerated the names of all his family members, neighbors, and the deepest confidential thoughts swirling within Gova’s mind! Shattered by this display of divine omniscience, Gova Patel broke down in tears, pressing his head against Shreehari’s lotus feet in deep repentance. Later, he spent time with the sants in Gadhada, attaining unshakable faith in the Lord’s divinity.
