જૂનાગઢમાં આસોપાલવ તળે બ્રહ્મચર્યની મર્યાદા દર્શાવી પ્રભુએ પાખંડ ખુલ્લો કર્યો; વનવિચરણમાં રોટલો દેનાર હાટકેશ્વરના પુજારીને ૫૦૦ સોનામહોરો આપી દિવ્ય રાસ લીધો.
પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજે સોરઠ પ્રદેશના હરિભક્તોને પૂર્વે વચન આપેલું કે: “દેશ સોરઠ જૂનો તિયાં સહુ આવજ્યો તમે, સુંદર ચૈત્ર માસમાં સુદી પૂનમે આવીશું અમે!” એ વચન અનુસાર કચ્છ દેશમાંથી સંતો-પાર્ષદો સાથે વિચરણ કરતાં કરતાં શ્રીહરિ ચૈત્ર સુદ પૂનમના સમૈયા નિમિત્તે ઐતિહાસિક જૂનાગઢ નગરમાં પધાર્યા.
પંચાળા દરબાર મુક્તરાજ ઝીણાભાઈ, જામનવડના દરબાર દાદાભાઈ, રામજીભાઈ મહેતા અને પાંચુબાઈ આદિ અગ્રણી ભક્તોએ વાજતે-ગાજતે શ્રીહરિનું અત્યંત ભવ્ય સામૈયું કર્યું. શ્રીહરિ શણગારેલા અશ્વ પર વિરાજમાન થઈ જૂનાગઢના મુખ્ય બજારોમાં નગરચર્યાએ નીકળ્યા. સંતો-ભક્તો ઢોલ-શરણાઈના તાલે મંગલ ધૂન-કીર્તન ગાતા ચાલતા હતા. શ્રીહરિએ નાગરવાડામાં ગરીબ અને અમીર સર્વે હરિભક્તોના ઘેર પધરામણી કરી અને દાદાભાઈ તથા ઝીણાભાઈના વિશાળ દિવાનખાનામાં ઉતારો કર્યો. સદ્ગુરુ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીએ ‘ભક્તચિંતામણી’ માં નોંધ્યું છે કે પ્રભુએ દીન-દુર્બળ દાસો પર અપાર મહેર કરી.
શ્રીહરિ નિત્ય દિવાનખાનાની ફુલવાડીમાં આસોપાલવના વિશાળ વૃક્ષ નીચે દિવ્ય સભા ભરતા. જૂનાગઢના ભંભલીયા મેળામાં આવેલા સેંકડો મુમુક્ષુઓ શ્રીહરિના દર્શન-સમાગમથી પ્રભાવિત થઈ સત્સંગી બન્યા. સંતોના કંચન-કામિનીના ત્યાગવાળા નિર્મળ ચરિત્ર જોઈ લોકોમાં સ્વામિનારાયણ સંપ્રદાય પ્રત્યે ભારે આકર્ષણ ઊભું થયું.
આ લોકપ્રિયતા જોઈ કેટલાક દ્વેષીઓને ઈર્ષ્યા થઈ. તેમણે સંપ્રદાયને બદનામ કરવાનું ષડયંત્ર ઘડ્યું: “આ સાધુઓ સ્ત્રીઓથી દૂર રહેવાનો દંભ કરે છે, એ દંભ આપણે આજે ખુલ્લો પાડવો છે!” તેમણે એક ગરીબ સીદી જાતિની સ્ત્રીને પૈસાની લાલચ આપી પુરુષના અંગરખા અને પાઘડી પહેરાવી પુરુષનો વેશ ધારણ કરાવ્યો, અને આસોપાલવ તળે બેઠેલી સભામાં સાધુઓની વચ્ચે ધકેલી દીધી! તેને એવી શીખ આપી હતી કે જો કોઈ તને રોકે તો મોટેથી કોલાહલ કરજે!
પેલી સ્ત્રી જેવી પુરુષવેશે સભામાં પ્રવેશી, કે અષ્ટ પ્રકારે બ્રહ્મચર્યનું ચુસ્ત પાલન કરતા નિર્દોષ સંતો સ્ત્રીની ગંધ પારખી તત્કાળ ઊભા થઈ દૂર હટી ગયા! પઢાવેલી સ્ત્રીએ મોટેથી બૂમાબૂમ કરી પૂછ્યું: “સ્વામિનારાયણ! તમારા આ સાધુઓ મને જોઈને કેમ ભાગી ગયા?” ત્યારે અંતર્યામી શ્રીહરિએ ગંભીર વાણીમાં કહ્યું: “બહેન! તમે ગમે તેટલો વેશપલટો કરીને પુરુષના વસ્ત્રો પહેરીને આવ્યા હો, છતાં કોઈનું પાખંડ ક્યારેય છૂપું રહી શકતું નથી! બ્રહ્મચર્ય વ્રતના રક્ષણ અર્થે અમારા સંતો કંચન અને કામિનીથી સદાય જોજનો દૂર રહે છે. અમે આ મર્યાદાઓ જગતને છેતરવા કે દંભ કરવા માટે નથી રચી, પરંતુ મુમુક્ષુ જીવોના આત્યંતિક મોક્ષ માટે સ્થાપી છે!” શ્રીહરિના આ સત્ય અને તેજસ્વી વચનો સાંભળી પેલી સ્ત્રી લજ્જિત થઈ ગઈ અને દ્વેષીઓનું કાવતરું ધૂળમાં મળી ગયું.
ત્યારબાદ શ્રીહરિ સર્વે સંતો-હરિભક્તો સાથે દામોદર કુંડ પધાર્યા. ત્યાં પવિત્ર સ્નાન કરી નગરના વિદ્વાન બ્રાહ્મણોની વિશાળ ચોરાસી કરાવી અન્નદાન અને દક્ષિણા આપ્યાં. ત્યાંથી પ્રભુ શ્રી હાટકેશ્વર મહાદેવના મંદિરે દર્શનાર્થે પધાર્યા. મંદિરમાં દર્શન કરી શ્રીહરિએ ત્યાંના વૃદ્ધ પૂજારી સાથે જૂની ઓળખાણ કાઢી: “પૂજારીજી! વર્ષો પહેલાં અમે વનવિચરણ દરમિયાન નીલકંઠ વર્ણી વેશે અહીં આવેલા, ત્યારે આપે અમને પ્રેમથી ભોજન જમાડેલું!” આ સ્મૃતિ તાજી કરી શ્રીહરિએ પૂજારીનું આજીવન દારિદ્ર્ય દૂર કરવા પાંચસો સોનામહોરો (કોરીઓ) દક્ષિણા રૂપે અર્પણ કરી અખંડ આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા. નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીએ લખ્યું છે: “શિવસેવક લાગી પાય, માગી માયા મુખ દુઃખ કઈ; તેનું દરિદ્ર કાપીયું, મહોર શત પાંચ દઈ!”
ચૈત્ર સુદ પૂનમના પાવન દિવસે શ્રીહરિએ સ્વહસ્તે સંતો-ભક્તોને પકવાનો પીરસીને જમાડ્યા. રાત્રિના સમયે પૂર્ણિમાના ચંદ્રના અજવાળામાં શ્રીહરિએ સંતો-હરિભક્તો વચ્ચે સાત થર (સાત વર્તુળો) નો ભવ્ય દિવ્ય રાસ લીધો! કીર્તનોની રમઝટ અને કરતાલોના નાદ વચ્ચે શ્રીહરિએ સહુને અલૌકિક બ્રહ્માનંદનું સુખ પૂરું પાડ્યું.

जूनागढ़ में चैत्र पूर्णिमा के समैया पर श्रीजीमहाराज का भव्य स्वागत हुआ।
द्वेषियों ने संप्रदाय को बदनाम करने हेतु एक सिदी स्त्री को पुरुषों के वस्त्र पहनाकर सभा में साधुओं के बीच भेजा। संतों ने स्त्री को पहचानकर दूरी बना ली। श्रीहरि ने पाखंड उजागर करते हुए कहा: “हमारा ब्रह्मचर्य लोकदिखावा नहीं, अपितु आत्म-कल्याण हेतु है; पाखंड कभी छिपता नहीं!” षड्यंत्रकारी लज्जित हुए।
दामोदर कुंड स्नान पश्चात श्रीजी हाटकेश्वर महादेव मंदिर गए और वनविचरण में भोजन कराने वाले पुजारी को ५०० स्वर्ण मुद्राएँ देकर उसका दारिद्र्य दूर किया। पूर्णिमा की रात सात घेरों का दिव्य रास खेलकर सभी को आनंदित किया।

Chaitra Punam Festival at Junagadh, Foiling the Disguised Intruder, Blessing Hatkeshwar’s Pujari, and the Celestial Raas
True to His prophetic promise given to the devotees of Sorath: “Come all to the ancient land of Sorath, for on the sacred full moon of Chaitra, We shall surely arrive!” Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj arrived in the historic city of Junagadh from Kutch, accompanied by a retinue of revered sadhus and parshads, to celebrate the Chaitra Sud Punam festival.
Muktaraj Jhinabhai Darbar of Panchala, Darbar Dadabhai of Jamnavad, Ramjibhai Mehta, Panchubai, and leading devotees accorded Maharaj a magnificent reception with drums, trumpets, and devotional pageantry. Mounted upon a splendidly decorated horse, Shreehari traversed the main avenues of Junagadh while the congregation sang joyous hymns. Visiting the humble abodes of both affluent and indigent devotees in Nagarwada, Shreehari took up residence at Dadabhai’s and Jhinabhai’s grand reception estate (diwankhana). Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami notes in ‘Bhaktachintamani’ that the Lord showered boundless compassion upon the poor and downtrodden.
Daily assemblies were convened beneath the sprawling shade of an ancient asopalav tree in the orchard. Hundreds of spiritual seekers attending the renowned Bhambhaliya fair were drawn to the fellowship, enraptured by Shreehari’s divine discourses and the sadhus’ uncompromising detachment from wealth and women.
Envious of this surging spiritual influence, malicious sectarian opponents hatched a deceitful plot to disgrace the movement: “These ascetics feign strict celibacy; let us expose this pretense before the public!” Bribing a poor African (Sidi) woman, they dressed her in a man’s coat, trousers, and turban, and thrust her into the dense assembly right amidst the sadhus, coaching her to cause a raucous scene if stopped!
As the disguised intruder entered among the sadhus, the monks—strictly observing eightfold celibacy—instantly discerned her presence and respectfully stepped aside to safeguard their vows! The coached woman shouted loudly: “Swaminarayan! Why have Your sadhus fled at the sight of me?” All-knowing Shreeji Maharaj addressed her with unshakeable spiritual majesty: “Sister! No matter how cleverly you disguise yourself in masculine attire, hypocrisy and deceit can never remain hidden! To preserve their sacred vows of celibacy, Our sadhus maintain total detachment from women and wealth. We have not instituted these codes to deceive the public, but as an indispensable discipline for the ultimate liberation of souls!” Pierced by Shreehari’s righteous words, the woman bowed her head in deep shame, and the opponents’ conspiracy collapsed into dust.
Thereafter, Shreehari visited the sacred Damodar Kund with the assembly, bathing in its holy waters and conducting a grand feast (chhorasi) for hundreds of learned Brahmins, distributing generous dakshina. Subsequently, Maharaj graced the ancient temple of Shri Hatkeshwar Mahadev. Remembering the elderly temple priest, Shreehari smiled warmly: “Pujariji! Years ago, during Our forest travels as young Nilkanth Varni, you lovingly served Us a hot meal!” Recalling that humble offering, Shreehari permanently eradicated the priest’s grinding poverty by bestowing five hundred gold coins (kori/mahor) upon him! Nishkulanand Swami celebrated this in verse: “The servant of Shiva bowed at His feet, crying out his worldly sorrows; The Lord destroyed his poverty, presenting five hundred gold coins!”
On the full moon night of Chaitra, after personally serving a feast to all sadhus and devotees, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj played an enchanting celestial Raas arranged in seven concentric circles under the silver moonlight! Amidst the rhythmic cadence of clapping hands and resonant kirtans, Maharaj bestowed the highest bliss of divine communion upon everyone present.
