ગઢપુરમાં મંદિર માટે મૂર્તિઓ લેવાની શ્રીહરિની ઈચ્છા હતી. લાઠીના સલાટો ૨૬ મૂર્તિઓ લાવ્યા, પરંતુ સોદો ન થતાં પાછા વળ્યા. હસનભાઈએ પોતાની કુનેહથી ગાડાં પાછા વાળ્યા અને શ્રીહરિએ ૨૨ મૂર્તિઓ પસંદ કરી વિવિધ મંદિરોમાં પધરાવી.
એક સમયે ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ ગઢપુરમાં દાદાખાચરના દરબારગઢમાં લીમડાના વૃક્ષ નીચે સભામાં બિરાજમાન હતા. શ્રીહરિએ વારંવાર સંતો સમક્ષ વાત કરી કે: “આપણે સંપ્રદાયના નવનિર્મિત મંદિરો માટે મૂર્તિઓ લેવી છે.” તેવામાં સદગુરુ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી વડોદરાથી પધાર્યા અને વાત કરી કે: “અમે વડોદરાથી શ્રી લક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવની મૂર્તિઓ લાવતા હતા, પરંતુ રસ્તામાં ભારે વરસાદ થતાં હાલ બોચાસણ મંદિરે પધરાવીને આવ્યા છીએ.” શ્રીહરિએ કહ્યું: “લક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવની એ મૂર્તિઓ તો આપણે વડતાલ મંદિરમાં જ પધરાવીશું.”
તે જ સમયે હરિભક્ત હસનભાઈએ સમાચાર આપ્યા કે: “મહારાજ! લાઠી ગામે શિલ્પકાર સલાટોના ત્રણ ગાડાં સુંદર મૂર્તિઓ ભરીને આવ્યાં છે.” શ્રીહરિએ હસનભાઈને મૂર્તિઓ લઈ આવવા જણાવ્યું અને પોતે વડતાલ પધાર્યા.
બે-ત્રણ દિવસ બાદ સલાટો ગાડાં લઈને સમઢીયાળા થઈ ગઢપુર પહોંચ્યા. વડતાલથી શ્રીહરિએ સદગુરુ આનંદાનંદ સ્વામીને મૂર્તિઓ ખરીદવા મોકલ્યા. આનંદાનંદ સ્વામીએ આવીને ૨૬ મૂર્તિઓમાંથી માત્ર ૮ મૂર્તિઓ માંગી, પરંતુ સલાટોએ આગ્રહ રાખ્યો કે: “અમારે તો તમામ ૨૬ મૂર્તિઓ એકસાથે જ વેચવી છે!” મેળ ન બેસતાં સલાટો નારાજ થઈ ગાડાં પાછાં વાળી ઉગામેડી તરફ ચાલ્યા ગયા. રસ્તામાં વડતાલથી આવતા શ્રીહરિ સાથે તેમનો ભેટો થયો. શ્રીહરિએ ગાડાં પાછાં વાળવા કહ્યું, પણ સલાટોએ કહ્યું: “તમારા સાધુએ મૂર્તિઓ ન લીધી, હવે તમારા કહેવાથી અમારો ખોટો ધક્કો થશે!” એમ કહી તેઓ આગળ ચાલતા થયા.
શ્રીહરિ ગઢપુર દરબારગઢ આવ્યા અને માણકી પરથી ઉતરતાં જ પૂછ્યું: “આનંદ સ્વામી અને હસનભાઈ ક્યાં ગયા? મૂર્તિઓ કેમ ન લાવ્યા?” આનંદાનંદ સ્વામીએ કહ્યું: “મહારાજ! સલાટો માન્યા નહીં ને જતા રહ્યા.” હસનભાઈ બોલ્યા: “મહારાજ! આપ આજ્ઞા કરો તો હું સો કળા અજમાવીને પણ એમને પાછા બોલાવી લાવું!” શ્રીહરિએ હસીને કહ્યું: “તો તો આનંદ સ્વામીની ઘોડી લઈને તત્કાળ જાવ!”
હસનભાઈ અશ્વારૂઢ થઈ દોડ્યા અને ઝીંઝાવદરની સીમમાં સલાટોને આંબી ગયા. તેમણે વેપારી કુનેહ વાપરી: “ભાઈ! હું તમને દરેક મૂર્તિ દીઠ દસ રૂપિયાની દલાલી કરાવી બધી જ મૂર્તિઓ રોકડેથી વેચાવી આપીશ!” સલાટો લલચાયા અને ગાડાં પાછાં વાળી ગઢપુર અયોધ્યાપ્રસાદજીના વંડામાં મુકામ કર્યો.
બીજે દિવસે શ્રીહરિએ તમામ મૂર્તિઓ વાસુદેવનારાયણના ઓરડામાં પધરાવી અને સ્વહસ્તે મૂર્તિઓ સ્પર્શતાં કહ્યું: “આમાંથી ૨૨ મૂર્તિઓ અમે રાખીશું; એક કાળભૈરવ અને ત્રણ વાઘેશ્વરી માતાજીની મળી ચાર મૂર્તિઓ અમે નહીં લઈએ. બાકીની ૨૨ મૂર્તિઓનું મૂલ્ય બોલો!” સલાટોએ ૪૪૦ રૂપિયા માંગ્યા. હરજી ઠક્કરે વચ્ચે પડી સોદો પાકો કરી સલાટોને ૪૪૦ રૂપિયા રોકડા ચૂકવી આપ્યા.
શ્રીજીમહારાજે પોતાના વરદહસ્તે સ્પર્શ કરેલી એ ૨૨ પ્રસાદીની મૂર્તિઓ સુરત, ગઢપુર, ભુજ, ધોલેરા વગેરે શિખરબદ્ધ મંદિરોમાં પધરાવવામાં આવી. જે કાળભૈરવની મૂર્તિ પર શ્રીહરિએ હાથ મૂક્યો હતો તે પ્રસાદીની મૂર્તિ હાલ પાલિતાણાના કાળભૈરવ મંદિરમાં બિરાજે છે.

गढड़ा में २२ प्रसादी मूर्तियों का क्रय और हसनभाई का व्यापारिक चातुर्य
एक समय भगवान श्री स्वामिनारायण गढड़ा में दादा खाचर के दरबारगढ़ में नीम के वृक्ष के नीचे सभा में विराजे थे। श्रीहरि ने संतों के सम्मुख कई बार कहा कि: “हमें नव-निर्मित मंदिरों हेतु देव-मूर्तियाँ प्राप्त करनी हैं।” उसी समय सद्गुरु मुक्तानन्द स्वामी वडोदरा से आए और बताया: “हम वडोदरा से लक्ष्मीनारायण देव की मूर्तियाँ ला रहे थे, किंतु मार्ग में वर्षा के कारण उन्हें बोचासण में सुरक्षित रखकर आए हैं।” श्रीहरि बोले: “वे मूर्तियाँ हम वड़ताल मंदिर में पधराएँगे।”
उसी समय हरिभक्त हसनभाई ने सूचना दी: “महाराज! लाठी गाँव में मूर्तिकार सलाटों की तीन गाड़ियाँ सुंदर पाषाण-मूर्तियों से भरी आई हैं।” श्रीहरि ने हसनभाई को मूर्तियाँ लाने का निर्देश दिया और स्वयं वड़ताल चले गए।
दो-तीन दिन बाद सलाट गढड़ा पहुँचे। वड़ताल से श्रीहरि ने सद्गुरु आनन्दानन्द स्वामी को भेजा। आनन्दानन्द स्वामी ने २६ में से केवल ८ मूर्तियाँ माँगी, किंतु सलाटों का हठ था कि: “हम तो सभी २६ मूर्तियाँ एक साथ ही बेचेंगे!” बात न बनने पर सलाट अप्रसन्न होकर गाड़ियाँ लेकर लौट पड़े। मार्ग में वड़ताल से लौट रहे श्रीहरि से उनकी भेंट हुई। श्रीहरि ने गाड़ियाँ लौटाने को कहा, किंतु सलाट नहीं माने।
गढड़ा पहुँचकर श्रीहरि ने पूछा: “आनंद स्वामी और हसनभाई कहाँ हैं? मूर्तियाँ क्यों नहीं लाए?” आनंद स्वामी ने क्षमा माँगी। तब हसनभाई बोले: “महाराज! आज्ञा दें तो मैं व्यापारिक चातुर्य से उन्हें मनाकर वापस ले आऊँ!” श्रीहरि ने कहा: “शीघ्र जाओ!”
हसनभाई अश्व पर सवार होकर दौड़े और झींझावदर की सीमा में सलाटों को जा पकड़ा। उन्होंने युक्तिपूर्वक कहा: “मैं तुम्हारी समस्त मूर्तियाँ नकद बिकवा दूँगा!” सलाट मान गए और गाड़ियाँ लेकर गढड़ा लौट आए।
अगले दिन श्रीहरि ने वासुदेव नारायण के कक्ष में सभी मूर्तियाँ रखवाईं और अपने करकमलों से स्पर्श करते हुए कहा: “इनमें से २२ मूर्तियाँ हम लेंगे; एक कालभैरव और तीन वाघेश्वरी देवी की चार मूर्तियाँ हम नहीं लेंगे। शेष २२ मूर्तियों का मूल्य बताइए!” सलाटों ने ४४० रुपये माँगे। हरजी ठक्कर ने मध्यस्थता कर सलाटों को ४४० रुपये नकद दिलवाए।
श्रीहरि द्वारा हस्त-स्पर्शित वे २२ पावन प्रसादी मूर्तियाँ सूरत, गढड़ा, भुज, धोलेरा आदि मंदिरों में प्रतिष्ठित की गईं। जिस कालभैरव की मूर्ति पर श्रीहरि ने हाथ रखा था, वह प्रसादी विग्रह वर्तमान में पालीताना के कालभैरव मंदिर में सुशोभित है।

The Acquisition of Twenty-Two Sanctified Murtis in Gadhada and Hasanbhai’s Astute Negotiation
On one occasion, Bhagwan Swaminarayan was presiding over an assembly beneath the sacred neem tree in the Darbargadh of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. Repeatedly, Shri Hari mentioned to the sadhus: “We need to acquire sacred stone murtis for the upcoming newly-constructed temples.” Around that time, Sadguru Muktanand Swami arrived from Vadodara and reported: “We were conveying the divine murtis of Shri Lakshmi-Narayan Dev from Vadodara, but due to torrential rains along the way, we temporarily safeguarded them at Bochasan.” Shri Hari declared: “Those murtis of Lakshmi-Narayan Dev shall be ceremoniously consecrated at the Vadtal mandir.”
Just then, a Muslim devotee named Hasanbhai informed: “Maharaj! Three bullock carts belonging to stone sculptors (salats) laden with exquisite murtis have arrived in Lathi village.” Shri Hari directed Hasanbhai to inspect them and departed for Vadtal.
A few days later, the sculptors arrived in Gadhada with their carts via Samdhiyala. From Vadtal, Shri Hari sent Sadguru Anandanand Swami to negotiate the purchase. Anandanand Swami selected only eight specific murtis from the twenty-six available; however, the sculptors stubbornly insisted: “We will sell either the entire lot of twenty-six together or none at all!” As negotiations stalled, the frustrated artisans yoked their carts and departed towards Ugamedi. On His return journey from Vadtal, Shri Hari crossed paths with them and requested them to turn back, but the obstinate sculptors refused to return.
Arriving at the Darbargadh, Shri Hari dismounted from Manki and inquired: “Where are Anand Swami and Hasanbhai? Why were the murtis not brought?” Anandanand Swami offered pranams and explained the artisans’ refusal. Hasanbhai stepped forward: “Maharaj! If You permit, by employing every mercantile art of negotiation, I will bring them back!” Shri Hari smiled: “Take Anand Swami’s mare and ride immediately!”
Hasanbhai galloped away, overtaking the carts at the boundary of Zinzavadar village. Employing shrewd commercial psychology, he persuaded them: “Brothers, I will ensure every single murti is sold for ready cash with an additional premium!” Enticed, the sculptors turned their carts back to Gadhada and unloaded them in the compound of Ayodhyaprasadji.
The following day, Shri Hari had all twenty-six murtis placed in the chamber of Vasudevnarayan. Touching each murti with His divine hands, the Lord declared: “We shall purchase twenty-two of these murtis; the remaining four—one of Kaal-Bhairav and three of Goddess Vagheshwari—We shall not acquire. State your price for these twenty-two murtis!” The sculptors quoted four hundred and forty silver rupees. Harji Thakkar mediated, finalizing the transaction and paying four hundred and forty rupees in cash.
Those twenty-two sanctified murtis personally touched and blessed by Shriji Maharaj’s divine hands were subsequently enshrined in major temples across Surat, Gadhada, Bhuj, and Dholera. The specific Kaal-Bhairav murti that was consecrated by Shri Hari’s touch is reverently enshrined to this day in the Kaal-Bhairav mandir in Palitana.
