Dada Khachar’s 200-Bigha Land Grant in Gadhada, Punja Sheth Collecting Holy Footdust, and Laduba’s Grazing Wisdom

In the royal court of Darbar Dada Khachar in Gadhpur, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj constructed the glorious pinnacled mandir of Shri Gopinathji Maharaj and consecrated the divine deities amidst grand celebrations.

One day, Muktaraj Dada Khachar prostrated before Shreehari. Maharaj conversed affectionately: “Dada Khachar! We have consecrated Shri Gopinathji Maharaj in the temple, but an enduring source of revenue is required to fund the daily offerings (rajbhog-thal) and temple maintenance!” Having already surrendered his entire ancestral principality, palace, and wealth at Shreehari’s feet, pure-hearted Dada Khachar replied with folded hands: “O Maharaj! Everything I possess belongs entirely to You; command whatever You desire and I shall fulfill it!” Shreehari said: “Dada! Grant a tract of land for Thakorji’s daily food offerings, so that the grain harvested from it may sustain Gopinathji Maharaj’s kitchen perpetually!” Dada Khachar joyfully offered: “Indeed, Maharaj! Take as many bighas from my share of the estate as Your heart desires!”

The following morning, Shreeji Maharaj walked toward Radhavadi accompanied by Dada Khachar, Parshad Bhaguji, and devout householder Punja Sheth of Sundariyana. From there, along the trail to Adtala, Shreehari removed His footwear and began walking completely barefoot upon the rough country path! Trudging across fields and furrows, Maharaj walked barefoot all the way to the Ugamedi road.

Walking reverently behind Maharaj was Punja Sheth of Sundariyana. Seeing the tender, lotus-like feet of the Supreme Lord treading unprotected across thorns and pebbles for the sake of the mandir, Punja Sheth’s heart surged with profound reverence! Regarding this as the supreme blessing of his existence, at every step where Shreehari planted His holy feet, Punja Sheth bent down and scooped up the sanctified footdust (charanraj) into his cotton turban sash (faliyu) with deep devotion!

Pausing along the boundary line, Shreeji Maharaj pointed across the expanse: “Dada! Deed this parcel of land to the mandir of Shri Gopinathji Maharaj!” Without a moment’s hesitation, Dada Khachar deeded two hundred bighas of prime arable land to Shri Gopinathji Maharaj on the spot!

When Shreehari returned to the Darbargadh, seeing the Lord arriving fatigued and barefoot, revered elder sister Laduba rushed forward with a bronze pitcher of cool water, washed His holy feet, and offered Him a drink, asking: “O Maharaj! Where had You traveled since dawn?” Shreehari smiled warmly: “Laduba! Dada Khachar has generously gifted two hundred bighas of land to ensure perpetual thal offerings for Gopinathji Maharaj!”

Hearing this, wise Laduba remarked: “O Lord! That is truly a noble and auspicious deed! This palace, estate, and our very lives are Your property; our ultimate salvation lies solely in Your pleasure! However, O Maharaj, where shall Dada’s cattle and cows graze from tomorrow? Pray reserve a portion between the Adtala and Ugamedi trails as pastureland (gauchar) for the livestock!” Deeply touched by Laduba’s compassionate discernment and care for the cows, Shreehari smiled: “Laduba! Your counsel is entirely just!” Maharaj immediately designated a generous corner parcel between the two roads as protected pastureland for Dada Khachar’s cattle.

Thus, Dada Khachar’s selfless generosity and Laduba’s thoughtful wisdom became immortalized in the annals of Satsang history.
