ડભોઈના વણિક શ્રેષ્ઠી દ્વારકાદાસ અને તેમના પુત્ર ત્રિકમદાસે સંસારનો ત્યાગ કરી સર્વસ્વ સમર્પણ કર્યું; ત્રિકમદાસે જૂનાગઢ મંદિરમાં બાવીસ વર્ષ કોઠારી સેવા આપી પાછળથી સેવામૂર્તિ અક્ષરસ્વરૂપદાસ સ્વામી તરીકે ખ્યાતિ પામ્યા.
વડોદરા જિલ્લાના ડભોઈ ગામમાં દ્વારકાદાસ નામે એક સુખી અને પ્રતિષ્ઠિત મુમુક્ષુ વણિક શેઠ રહેતા હતા. સંતોના સમાગમથી તેઓ સ્વામિનારાયણ સંપ્રદાયના પાકા સત્સંગી બન્યા. સંવત ૧૮૮૨માં તેમના ઘેર ત્રિકમદાસ નામે એક તેજસ્વી પુત્રનો જન્મ થયો. ત્રિકમદાસ માત્ર સાત વર્ષના હતા ત્યારે તેમની માતાનું અવસાન થતાં તેઓ માતૃસુખથી વંચિત થયા. પિતા દ્વારકાદાસ પુત્રને લઈને અવારનવાર વડતાલ દર્શને આવતા. નાની વયે જ ત્રિકમદાસે સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી, સદગુરુ નિત્યાનંદ સ્વામી તથા આદિ આચાર્યશ્રી રઘુવીરજી મહારાજ વગેરે સમર્થ મુક્તો પાસેથી સત્સંગનું અમૃતપાન કર્યું. ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીની સાંખ્ય અને યોગની વાતો સાંભળી નાની વયે વિધુર બનેલા દ્વારકાદાસે પુનર્લગ્નનો વિચાર જ માંડી વાળ્યો. પિતા-પુત્ર બંને સંસારમાં રહેવા છતાં કમળવત્ વિરક્તભાવે વર્તતા હતા.
એક વખત દ્વારકાદાસ શેઠ પોતાનો વેપાર-ધંધો સંકેલી વડતાલ આવ્યા અને સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી સમક્ષ પ્રાર્થના કરી, “સ્વામી! આપ કૃપા કરો તો મારો પુત્ર ત્રિકમ આ દુષ્કર સંસાર છોડીને સાધુ થાય!” સ્વામીએ રાજી થઈને કહ્યું, “નિયમિત કથાવાર્તા સાંભળજો અને ભજન કરજો; મહારાજ રજોગુણ શમાવી મૂર્તિનું અખંડ સુખ આપશે.”
પિતા-પુત્ર ડભોઈ પાછા આવ્યા. માંડ એકાદ સપ્તાહ વીત્યું હશે ત્યાં એક દિવસે યુવાન ત્રિકમદાસે પિતા સમક્ષ પોતાના સર્વે સોના-ચાંદીના અલંકારો ઉતારી મૂકતાં કહ્યું, “પિતાજી! આ તમામ ઘરેણાં સંભાળી લો; મારે હવે કશું પહેરવું નથી. તમારે જે વહીવટ કરવો હોય તે કરો, મારે તો કેવળ ભગવાન ભજવા છે!” પુત્રનો તીવ્ર વૈરાગ્ય જોઈ દ્વારકાદાસને સ્વામીના આશીર્વાદ યાદ આવ્યા. પિતાએ તમામ ઘરેણાંની પોટલી બાંધી વડતાલ આવી લક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવના ચરણે કૃષ્ણાર્પણ કરી દીધી. ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી અને રઘુવીરજી મહારાજ આ બાપ-દીકરાનો અદ્ભુત ત્યાગ જોઈ ગદ્ગદ થયા. ત્રિકમદાસે વડતાલમાં સ્વામી પાસે રોકાવાની રજા માંગી, જે પિતાએ સહર્ષ આપી.
થોડા સમય પછી ઉપેન્દ્રાનંદ સ્વામી જૂનાગઢ જતા હતા ત્યારે ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીએ ત્રિકમદાસને તેમની સાથે મોકલતાં કહ્યું, “તમે જૂનાગઢ જઈ સદગુરુ ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીની અનુવૃત્તિમાં રહી સેવા કરજો.” ત્રિકમદાસે જૂનાગઢમાં છ માસ અખંડ સેવા કરી સ્વામીનો પૂર્ણ રાજીપો પ્રાપ્ત કર્યો. આ બાજુ ડભોઈમાં પિતા દ્વારકાદાસે પણ ઘરવખરી અને મિલકત વેચીને રોકડા દસ હજાર રૂપિયા વડતાલ સ્વામીના ચરણે સમર્પી આજીવન પ્રભુચરણમાં રહેવાનો સંકલ્પ કર્યો.
વડતાલ સમૈયામાં જ્યારે ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામી ત્રિકમદાસને સાથે લાવ્યા, ત્યારે ત્રિકમદાસના નિઃસંતાન મામાએ ભાણેજને પોતાની એક લાખ રૂપિયાની સમસ્ત મિલકતના વારસદાર બનવાની લાલચ આપી. પરંતુ ત્રિકમદાસે અડગ ભાવે કહ્યું, “મામા! સંતોના યોગે મને આ સંસાર કડવો ઝેર લાગે છે; મારે આપના વારસાના એક લાખ રૂપિયા પણ જોઈતા નથી!” સમૈયો પૂર્ણ કરી તેઓ જૂનાગઢ આવ્યા. ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીએ તેમને કહ્યું, “ત્રિકમ! તમે જાતે વણિક છો, માટે મંદિરના કોઠારી બનીને સેવા કરો.” સ્વામીના એક વચને તેમણે કોઠારીપદ સ્વીકાર્યું અને સતત ૨૨ વર્ષ સુધી અપ્રતિમ નિષ્ઠાથી જૂનાગઢ મંદિરની કોઠારી સેવા સંભાળી.
સંવત ૧૯૨૩માં ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામી અક્ષરધામ પધાર્યા બાદ ત્રિકમદાસે કોઠારીપદ છોડી સંવત ૧૯૨૪માં આચાર્યશ્રી ભગવતપ્રસાદજી મહારાજ પાસેથી ભાગવતી સાધુદીક્ષા અંગીકાર કરી. દીક્ષા પછી તેઓ ‘અક્ષરસ્વરૂપદાસ સ્વામી’ નામે સમગ્ર સત્સંગમાં સેવામૂર્તિ સંત તરીકે સુવિખ્યાત થયા.

डभोई के द्वारकादास वणिक और त्रिकमदास कोठारी का सर्वस्व त्याग: सेवामूर्ति अक्षरस्वरूपदास स्वामी का जीवन
वडोदरा जिले के डभोई गाँव में द्वारकादास नाम के एक प्रतिष्ठित एवं संपन्न मुमुक्षु वणिक रहते थे। संतों के संपर्क से वे स्वामिनारायण संप्रदाय के अनन्य सत्संगी बने। संवत् १८८२ में उनके यहाँ त्रिकमदास नामक पुत्र का जन्म हुआ। सात वर्ष की आयु में ही माता के देहांत से वे मातृसुख से वंचित हो गए। पिता द्वारकादास पुत्र को लेकर अक्सर वडताल दर्शनार्थ जाते थे। बाल्यकाल में ही त्रिकमदास ने सद्गुरु गोपाळानंद स्वामी, सद्गुरु नित्यानंद स्वामी तथा आद्य आचार्यश्री रघुवीरजी महाराज आदि महान संतों से सत्संग की अमृतवाणी श्रवण की। गोपाळानंद स्वामी के सांख्य और योग के उपदेशों से प्रभावित होकर विधुर द्वारकादास ने पुनर्विवाह का विचार त्याग दिया और पिता-पुत्र दोनों संसार में रहकर भी विरक्त भाव से जीवन जीने लगे।
एक बार द्वारकादास ने वडताल आकर गोपाळानंद स्वामी से प्रार्थना की, “स्वामी! कृपा कीजिए कि मेरा पुत्र त्रिकम इस संसार के बंधनों को त्यागकर साधु बन जाए!” स्वामी ने आशीर्वाद देते हुए कहा, “नियमित कथा-कीर्तन सुनना, प्रभु रजोगुण दूर कर अपनी मूरति का सुख देंगे।”
घर लौटने के एक सप्ताह के भीतर ही युवा त्रिकमदास ने अपने समस्त आभूषण उतारकर पिता के सामने रख दिए और कहा, “पिताजी! अब मुझे यह सब नहीं पहनना; मुझे तो केवल भगवान का भजन करना है!” पिता ने वे सारे आभूषण वडताल लाकर श्री लक्ष्मीनारायण देव के चरणों में समर्पित कर दिए। त्रिकमदास वडताल में स्वामी की सेवा में रुक गए।
कुछ समय बाद गोपाळानंद स्वामी ने उन्हें जूनागढ़ में सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के पास सेवा में भेज दिया। त्रिकमदास ने छह महीने निष्काम सेवा कर स्वामी को अत्यंत प्रसन्न किया। उधर पिता द्वारकादास ने भी अपनी संपूर्ण संपत्ति बेचकर दस हजार रुपये वडताल मंदिर में समर्पित कर दिए और जीवन भर सत्संग सेवा में समर्पित हो गए।
जब त्रिकमदास के निःसंतान मामा ने उन्हें एक लाख रुपये की विशाल संपत्ति का वारिस बनने का प्रलोभन दिया, तो त्रिकमदास ने दृढ़ता से ठुकराते हुए कहा, “संतों के समागम से मुझे यह संसार विषतुल्य लगता है; मुझे आपकी एक लाख की संपत्ति की कोई लालसा नहीं है!” गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के आदेशानुसार वे जूनागढ़ मंदिर के कोठारी बने और बाइस वर्षों तक अप्रतिम सेवा की।
संवत् १९२३ में गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के अक्षरधाम गमन के पश्चात उन्होंने कोठारी पद त्यागकर आचार्यश्री भगवतप्रसादजी महाराज से संन्यास दीक्षा ग्रहण की और संप्रदाय में ‘अक्षरस्वरूपदास स्वामी’ के नाम से सेवामूर्ति संत के रूप में विख्यात हुए।

Dwarkadas Vanik and Trikamdas Kothari’s Supreme Renunciation: The Life of Sevamurti Aksharswaroopdas Swami
In the town of Dabhoi in Vadodara district, there lived a prosperous and righteous merchant named Dwarkadas. Through the association of holy saints, he became a devout follower of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. In Samvat 1882, a son named Trikamdas was born to him. Tragically, when Trikamdas was merely seven years old, his mother passed away. Dwarkadas frequently took his young son to Vadtal for darshan, where Trikamdas imbibed profound spiritual wisdom from venerable paramhansas such as Sadguru Gopalanand Swami, Sadguru Nityanand Swami, and Acharya Shree Raghuvirji Maharaj. Deeply moved by Gopalanand Swami’s discourses on Sankhya philosophy and the transient nature of worldly life, the widowed Dwarkadas relinquished any thought of remarriage, and both father and son lived as detached spiritual aspirants.
Eventually, Dwarkadas approached Sadguru Gopalanand Swami in Vadtal with an earnest prayer: “O Swami! Please shower your grace so that my son Trikam may renounce this perilous worldly life and embrace monastic sainthood!” Pleased, Gopalanand Swami blessed them: “Engage regularly in spiritual listening and devotion; Maharaj will eradicate all worldly attachments and grant the uninterrupted bliss of His divine form.”
Within a week of returning home, young Trikamdas took off all his gold ornaments, handed them to his father, and declared, “Father! Manage these possessions as you wish; I shall wear ornaments no longer. My only desire is to worship the Supreme Lord!” Recalling the Swami’s benediction, Dwarkadas bundled all the family jewels, traveled to Vadtal, and dedicated everything at the sacred feet of Shri Laxminarayan Dev. With his father’s loving blessing, Trikamdas remained in Vadtal in the holy service of Gopalanand Swami.
Soon afterward, Gopalanand Swami instructed Trikamdas to accompany Upendranand Swami to Junagadh: “Go to Junagadh, remain in total obedience to Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami, and earn his divine pleasure.” In Junagadh, Trikamdas rendered selfless service for six months. Meanwhile, back in Dabhoi, Dwarkadas sold his home and earthly assets, brought 10,000 silver rupees to Vadtal as an offering, and dedicated the remainder of his life to temple service.
When Trikamdas’s childless maternal uncle offered him a princely inheritance of 100,000 rupees to return to worldly life, Trikamdas firmly declined, replying, “In the company of such transcendent saints, worldly luxuries appear like bitter poison; I desire not even a single coin of your inheritance!” Gunatitanand Swami then appointed him as the Chief Administrator (Kothari) of the Junagadh mandir. For twenty-two illustrious years, Trikamdas managed the temple’s affairs with immaculate integrity and humility.
After Gunatitanand Swami’s departure for Akshardham in Samvat 1923, Trikamdas relinquished his administrative post and received formal sadhu diksha from Acharya Shree Bhagwatprasadji Maharaj in Samvat 1924, becoming revered throughout the Satsang fellowship as the embodiment of service, Sadguru Aksharswaroopdas Swami.
