બોટાદમાં દાહાખાચરની વાડીએ મોનજી જોષીની પાઘડીમાંથી પંચાંગનું ટીપણું શ્રીહરિના ખોળામાં પડ્યું. જોષીએ કહ્યું કે ગ્રહો આપના શરણે આવ્યા છે, આપના ભક્તોને ક્યારેય નડી ન શકે. શ્રીહરિએ પ્રસન્ન થઈ હમીરખાચરની ભેટ જોષીને આપી.
પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ સંતો અને હરિભક્તોના સંઘ સાથે બોટાદ પધાર્યા હતા. દાહાખાચરના દરબારગઢમાં સૌનો ઉતારો હતો. દાહાખાચરે અત્યંત પ્રેમપૂર્વક આગ્રહ કરી શ્રીહરિને સંતો સહિત પોતાની વાડીએ પધારવા વિનંતી કરી. સૌ સંતો-ભક્તો કીર્તન-ભક્તિની રમઝટ સાથે વાજતે-ગાજતે વાડીએ પધાર્યા. ત્યાં સુંદર સભા ભરાઈ અને રસોઈ તૈયાર થતાં શ્રીહરિએ પ્રથમ જમીને સંતોને જમાડ્યા.
તે વખતે બોટાદના વિદ્વાન જ્યોતિષી મોનજી જોષી શ્રીહરિ પાસે આવ્યા અને સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત કરી સન્મુખ બેઠા. મોનજી જોષી પોતાના પેટ પર સંતોષથી હાથ ફેરવતા હતા. શ્રીહરિએ હસીને પૂછ્યું: “ભટ્ટજી! જમ્યા કે?” મોનજી જોષીએ કહ્યું: “હા મહારાજ! આપના પ્રતાપે ખૂબ ધરાઈને જમ્યા.”
વાતચીત દરમિયાન શ્રીહરિની નજર મોનજી જોષીની પાઘડીમાં ભરાવેલા જ્યોતિષના પંચાંગ-ટીપણાં પર પડી. શ્રીહરિએ વિનોદ કરતાં કહ્યું: “ભટ્ટજી! આજ તો તમારું આ ટીપણું કાઢો અને અમારા ગ્રહો જુઓ કે અમારે કેવા ગ્રહો ચાલે છે!” મોનજી જોષી પોતાની પાઘડીમાંથી ટીપણું ખેંચવા ગયા, પરંતુ પાઘડીના આંટામાં ભરાયેલું હોવાથી અચાનક ટીપણાંના કાગળો છૂટા પડી અડધું ટીપણું શ્રીહરિના ખોળામાં પડ્યું અને અડધું આસન પાસે પડ્યું! અચાનક કાગળો ખોળામાં પડતાં શ્રીહરિ ચમક્યા.
તે વખતે મોનજી જોષીએ અદ્ભુત હાજરજવાબીપણું અને દ્રઢ નિષ્ઠા દર્શાવતાં કહ્યું: “હે મહારાજ! આપ ચમકશો નહીં! જુઓ, આ નવેય ગ્રહો આપના પરમ આશ્રયે આવીને સાક્ષાત આપના ખોળામાં પડ્યા છે! માટે આપ એ ગ્રહોને કહી દેજો કે આપના આશ્રિત હરિભક્તો સાથે સદાય મિત્રભાવ રાખે! આપ સર્વોપરી પરબ્રહ્મની આગળ આ ક્ષુદ્ર ગ્રહો કોઈ ભક્તને નડવા માટે સમર્થ જ નથી!”
શ્રીહરિ મોનજી જોષીની આવી અડગ, પરિપક્વ નિષ્ઠા જોઈ મંદ મંદ હસ્યા અને પૂછ્યું: “ભટ્ટજી! તમને તો કોઈ ગ્રહ નડતા નથી ને?” મોનજી જોષી બોલ્યા: “હે પ્રભુ! ક્યારેક રાહુ-કેતુ આપની સાથે વેર રાખીને મારા જેવા ગરીબ પર ઉધામા મચાવે છે! બાકી આપના પ્રબળ પ્રતાપ આગળ કોઈનું કશું ચાલતું નથી; આપના વિના ત્રિલોકીમાં કોઈ સમર્થ નહોતો, નથી અને થવાનો પણ નથી!”
શ્રીજીમહારાજ મોનજી જોષીના આ અડગ નિશ્ચય પર અત્યંત રાજી થયા. સૌ વાડીએથી કીર્તન ગાતાં ગાતાં હમીરખાચરના દરબારગઢમાં પધાર્યા. હમીરખાચરે શ્રીહરિને ઢોલિયા પર પધરાવી અત્તર, ચંદન અને પુષ્પમાળાથી પૂજન કર્યું અને એક થાળ ભરીને ચાંદીના રૂપિયા પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં ભેટ ધર્યા. શ્રીહરિએ ક્ષણનોય વિલંબ કર્યા વગર તે રૂપિયા ભરેલો થાળ મોનજી જોષીને અર્પણ કરી દીધો!
પ્રસાદીના રૂપિયા પ્રાપ્ત થતાં મોનજી જોષી આનંદવિભોર થઈ બોલ્યા: “હે મહારાજ! અત્યાર સુધી રાહુની વક્રદ્રષ્ટિ હતી એટલે રૂપિયાનો જોગ થતો નહોતો; પરંતુ હવે તો આપ પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમની અમૃતદ્રષ્ટિ પડી ગઈ એટલે જીવનમાં કોઈ વાતની ખામી રહી નથી!” ત્યારે શ્રીહરિએ સભા સમક્ષ ગૌરવભેર ઉપદેશ આપ્યો: “જેને અમારા સાક્ષાત સ્વરૂપમાં પરિપક્વ નિષ્ઠા છે, તેને કોઈ ગ્રહ, દશા કે પનોતી ક્યારેય નડી શકતી નથી. એ ક્ષુદ્ર દેવોનું પરાત્પર પુરુષોત્તમ આગળ કશુંય ઉપજતું નથી, માટે અમારા આશરે આવ્યા પછી સદાય નિર્ભય અને નિશ્ચિંત રહેવું!”

बोटाद में मोनजी जोशी के पंचांग का रहस्य और श्रीहरि के प्रति अनन्य निष्ठा
पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान श्री स्वामिनारायण संतों और भक्तों के साथ बोटाद पधारे। दाहा खाचर के दरबारगढ़ में सभी का पड़ाव था। दाहा खाचर के अत्यधिक प्रेमपूर्ण आग्रह पर श्रीहरि संतों सहित उनकी बाड़ी (खेत) में पधारे। कीर्तन-भक्ति के उल्लास के मध्य बाड़ी में सभा हुई और भोजन तैयार होने पर श्रीहरि ने संतों को प्रेमपूर्वक भोजन कराया।
उस समय बोटाद के विद्वान ज्योतिषी मोनजी जोशी श्रीहरि के समीप आए और साष्टांग दंडवत प्रणाम कर सम्मुख बैठे। मोनजी जोशी अपने उदर पर हाथ फेर रहे थे। श्रीहरि ने विनोदपूर्वक पूछा: “भट्टजी! भोजन कर लिया?” मोनजी जोशी बोले: “हाँ महाराज! आपकी कृपा से तृप्त होकर भोजन किया।”
वार्तालाप के मध्य श्रीहरि की दृष्टि मोनजी जोशी की पगड़ी में खोंसे हुए पंचांग (टीपणा) पर पड़ी। श्रीहरि ने परिहास करते हुए कहा: “भट्टजी! आज तो अपना यह पंचांग निकालिए और देखिए कि हमारे ग्रह कैसे चल रहे हैं!” मोनजी जोशी पगड़ी से पंचांग निकालने लगे, किंतु वस्त्र में उलझ जाने से पंचांग के पत्र बिखर गए और आधा पंचांग श्रीहरि की गोद में जा गिरा तथा आधा आसन के पास गिरा! अचानक पत्र गोद में गिरने से श्रीहरि चौंके।
उस समय मोनजी जोशी ने अद्भुत प्रत्युत्पन्नमतित्व और अनन्य निष्ठा प्रकट करते हुए कहा: “हे महाराज! आप चौंकिए मत! देखिए, ये नवग्रह आपके पावन आश्रय में साक्षात आपकी गोद में आकर गिरे हैं! अतः आप इन ग्रहों को आज्ञा दे दीजिए कि वे आपके भक्तों के साथ सदा मित्रवत व्यवहार करें! आप सर्वोपरि परब्रह्म के सम्मुख ये क्षुद्र ग्रह किसी भक्त को कष्ट पहुँचाने में कदापि समर्थ नहीं हैं!”
श्रीहरि मोनजी जोशी की ऐसी अटल निष्ठा देखकर मुस्कुराए और पूछा: “भट्टजी! आपको तो कोई ग्रह पीड़ा नहीं देता?” मोनजी जोशी बोले: “हे प्रभु! कभी-कभी राहु-केतु आपसे बैर साधने के लिए मुझ जैसे दास पर उपद्रव करते हैं! शेष तो आपके अनंत प्रताप के आगे किसी की शक्ति नहीं चलती; आपके अतिरिक्त इस ब्रह्मांड में कोई अन्य समर्थ न था, न है और न कभी होगा!”
श्रीजी महाराज उनके इस दृढ़ निश्चय पर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए। सभी बाड़ी से हमीर खाचर के दरबारगढ़ पहुँचे। हमीर खाचर ने चंदन, पुष्पहार से श्रीहरि की अर्चना की और थाल भरकर चाँदी के रुपये चरणों में भेंट किए। श्रीहरि ने वह रुपयों का थाल तुरंत मोनजी जोशी को समर्पित कर दिया!
प्रसादी के रुपये पाकर मोनजी जोशी गद्गद होकर बोले: “हे महाराज! अब तक राहु की कुदृष्टि थी, अतः धन का अभाव था; किंतु अब तो आप पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम की कृपादृष्टि हो गई, अतः जीवन में कोई अभाव नहीं रहा!” तब श्रीहरि ने सभा में उद्घोष किया: “जिसे हमारे प्रत्यक्ष स्वरूप में परिपक्व निष्ठा है, उसे कोई ग्रह या अनिष्टकारी दशा कभी बाधित नहीं कर सकती। परात्पर पुरुषोत्तम के सम्मुख इन क्षुद्र शक्तियों का कोई प्रभाव नहीं चलता, अतः हमारे आश्रय में आकर सर्वथा निर्भय और निश्चिंत रहना चाहिए!”

The Astrological Calendar of Monji Joshi at Botad and His Unswerving Faith in Shri Hari Beyond Planetary Influences
Supreme Lord Swaminarayan arrived at Botad accompanied by a congregation of sadhus and devotees, residing at the Darbargadh of Daha Khachar. At Daha Khachar’s loving insistence, Shri Hari journeyed with the devotees to his agricultural orchard amidst jubilant singing of devotional hymns. A joyful assembly convened, and after a sanctified feast was prepared, Shri Hari partook of the meal and served the assembly of saints.
At that time, a scholarly Brahmin astrologer of Botad named Monji Joshi approached Shri Hari, prostrated reverently, and sat before Him. Comfortably stroking his stomach, Joshi seemed thoroughly content. Shri Hari playfully inquired: “Bhattji! Have you dined well?” Monji Joshi replied: “Yes, Maharaj! By Your divine grace, I have dined to full satisfaction.”
Noticing the handwritten astrological calendar (tipnu / panchang) tucked securely into the folds of Joshi’s turban, Shri Hari teased him: “Bhattji! Pull out your astrological almanac today and inspect Our horoscopic charts; tell Us which planetary alignments are currently influencing Us!” Monji Joshi reached up to draw out the almanac, but as it was caught tightly within the fabric folds, the binding loosened and the manuscript papers scattered—half of the astrological charts falling directly into Shri Hari’s lap, while the rest dropped beside His seat! Startled by the sudden shower of papers into His lap, Shri Hari gave a slight start.
With remarkable spiritual wit and supreme conviction, Monji Joshi exclaimed: “O Maharaj! Do not be startled! Behold, all nine astrological planets (navagrahas) have surrendered themselves into Your holy lap seeking divine shelter! Therefore, command these planets never to torment Your devotees and to maintain harmonious friendship with them! Before You, the transcendent Parabrahman, these petty astronomical entities possess no power whatsoever to trouble Your devotees!”
Beholding Monji Joshi’s unwavering, mature conviction, Shri Hari smiled and asked: “Bhattji! Do any planetary afflictions trouble you personally?” Monji Joshi wittily replied: “O Lord! Occasionally Rahu and Ketu, harboring resentment against You, unleash their petty mischief upon a poor servant like me! Otherwise, before Your supreme omnipotence, no cosmic force can prevail; besides You, there has never been, nor is, nor ever will be any supreme power in all creation!”
Deeply delighted by Monji Joshi’s unshakeable faith, Shriji Maharaj returned with the procession to the residence of Hamir Khachar. Hamir Khachar worshipped Shri Hari with fragrant sandalwood paste, flower garlands, and presented a large silver tray filled with silver rupees at His holy feet. Without a moment’s hesitation, Shri Hari gifted that entire tray of silver coins to Monji Joshi!
Accepting the sanctified treasure, Monji Joshi rejoiced: “O Maharaj! Hitherto Rahu’s malevolent gaze caused financial scarcity, but now that Your divine, nectarous glance has fallen upon me, no lack remains in my life!” Shri Hari then proclaimed an enduring principle to the congregation: “Whoever anchors unflinching, mature faith in Our manifest divine form is never afflicted by malefic planetary configurations or adverse astrological transits. Before the supreme Purushottam Narayan, these subordinate deities hold no sway; therefore, having taken refuge in Us, one should forever remain fearless and serene!”
