ગઢપુરમાં બ્રાહ્મણ ચોરાશીના જમણવારમાં થયેલા ૧૦૦ રૂપિયાના વધારાના ખર્ચ વખતે બોટાદના અદા શાહે ગઢપુર પહોંચી બરાબર સો રૂપિયા શ્રીહરિના ચરણે ધરી અદ્ભુત તકની સેવા કરી પ્રભુનો અખંડ રાજીપો મેળવ્યો.
બોટાદ નગરમાં અદા શાહ (સત્સંગમાં બોઘા શાહ તરીકે પણ જાણીતા) નામે શ્રીજીમહારાજના એક પરમ નિષ્ઠાવાન અને વિશ્વાસુ હરિભક્ત રહેતા હતા. અદા શાહ ગઢપુર મંદિરના આર્થિક વ્યવહારો અત્યંત પ્રામાણિકતાથી સંભાળતા હોવાથી, ગઢડા મંદિરની તિજોરીઓની ચાવીઓ પોતાના ઘેર રાખવાની અતિ મોટી જવાબદારીની સેવા શ્રીહરિએ તેમને સોંપી હતી. પાછળથી તેમના વંશજ મોતીચંદ વિરચંદ શાહે પણ આ સેવા નિભાવી હતી.
એક વખત શ્રીજીમહારાજ વડતાલ સમૈયો કરીને ગઢપુર પધાર્યા. તે સમયે ગુજરાતના પ્રેમી હરિભક્તોએ પોતાની પરસેવાની કમાણીમાંથી ૩૦૦ રૂપિયા રોકડા શ્રીજીમહારાજની સેવામાં અર્પણ કર્યા હતા. શ્રીહરિએ તે ૩૦૦ રૂપિયા દાદા ખાચરના કારભારી લાધા ઠક્કરને સોંપતાં તાકીદ કરી, “આ ૩૦૦ રૂપિયામાં જ બ્રાહ્મણોની ચોરાશી (જમણવાર) સંપન્ન કરવાની છે; જરાય વધઘટ ન થાય તેનું ધ્યાન રાખજો!”
શ્રીજીમહારાજની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે ચોરાશીનો ભવ્ય જમણવાર યોજાયો. શ્રીહરિએ ઘીથી લચપચતા ચૂરમાના લાડુ પોતાના પાવન હસ્તે પીરસીને બ્રાહ્મણોને તૃપ્ત કર્યા. પરંતુ જમણવાર પછી જ્યારે લાધા ઠક્કરે હિસાબ કર્યો ત્યારે ખર્ચ ૪૦૦ રૂપિયા થઈ ગયો હતો! શ્રીહરિએ લાધા ઠક્કર પ્રત્યે થોડી નારાજગી દર્શાવતાં કહ્યું, “અમે ૩૦૦ રૂપિયામાં જ પતાવવાનું કહ્યું હતું; હવે આ ઘટતા ૧૦૦ રૂપિયા અમે ક્યાંથી કાઢીશું?”
બરાબર એ જ ક્ષણે બોટાદથી અદા શાહ ગઢપુર દર્શને આવી પહોંચ્યા! તેમણે સભામાં આવી શ્રીજીમહારાજની પ્રેમપૂર્વક પૂજા કરી, સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત કર્યા અને સો રૂપિયા રોકડા પ્રભુના ચરણકમળમાં મૂકી દીધા! આ અદ્ભુત તકની સેવા જોઈ શ્રીજીમહારાજ અત્યંત પ્રસન્ન થઈ ગયા. તેમણે તુરંત તે ૧૦૦ રૂપિયા લાધા ઠક્કરના હાથમાં મૂકતાં કહ્યું, “લ્યો! આ અદા શેઠે સમયસર આવીને આપણી સેવા સાચવી લીધી!” ત્યારબાદ શ્રીહરિએ લાધા ઠક્કર અને સભાને બોધ આપતાં કહ્યું, “હંમેશાં આવક કરતાં ઓછો ખર્ચ કરવો; જે આવક કરતાં વધારે ખર્ચ કરે છે તે મહાદુઃખી થાય છે!”
શ્રીહરિએ અદા શેઠના મસ્તક પર વરદહસ્ત મૂકી અપરંપાર રાજીપો વ્યક્ત કર્યો. સદગુરુ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીએ ‘શ્રીભક્તચિંતામણી’ના પ્રકરણ ૧૧૫ની કડી ૨૭માં બોટાદના અદા શાહના ગુણો ગાતાં લખ્યું છે: શેઠ અદો ને ભગો ભાવિક, કૃષ્ણ કેશવ જાણો વણિક..! ભક્ત હિરોને મેઘો મુળચંદ, નાનચંદાદિ વણિકવૃંદ..!!

बोटाद के अदा शाह की समयोचित सेवा: ब्राह्मण चौरासी की कमी पूर्ण करने हेतु सौ रुपये का समर्पण
बोटाद में अदा शाह (बोघा शाह) नामक श्रीहरि के निष्ठावान भक्त रहते थे। वे इतने विश्वसनीय थे कि गढपुर मंदिर की तिजोरी की चाबियाँ अपने घर रखने की महती सेवा उन्हें सौंपी गई थी।
एक बार गुजरात के भक्तों ने ३०० रुपये सेवा में भेंट किए। श्रीहरि ने लाधा ठक्कर को वे रुपये देकर ठीक ३०० रुपये में ही ब्राह्मणों की चौरासी (भोज) कराने का आदेश दिया। श्रीहरि ने स्वयं चूरमे के लड्डू परोसकर ब्राह्मणों को तृप्त किया, किंतु हिसाब करने पर कुल व्यय ४०० रुपये हो गया! श्रीहरि ने कहा कि अब यह १०० रुपये की कमी कहाँ से पूरी होगी?
ठीक उसी क्षण बोटाद से अदा शाह दर्शनार्थ पहुँचे। उन्होंने प्रभु का पूजन कर ठीक १०० रुपये नकद प्रभु चरणों में रख दिए! इस सामयिक सेवा से प्रसन्न होकर श्रीहरि ने वे रुपये लाधा ठक्कर को दिए और उपदेश दिया कि मनुष्य को कभी भी अपनी आय से अधिक व्यय नहीं करना चाहिए।
सद्गुरु निष्कुलानंद स्वामी ने ‘भक्त चिंतामणि’ में अदा शाह के गुणों का गान किया है।

Ada Shah of Botad: Timely Devotional Service and Dedication of One Hundred Rupees for Brahmin Feeding
In the town of Botad lived Ada Shah (also known in Satsang as Bogha Shah), a steadfast and exceptionally trustworthy devotee of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Because of his scrupulous financial integrity, Shreeji Maharaj entrusted him with the high responsibility of keeping the keys to the sacred treasury of the Gadhpur temple at his residence—a service later carried on by his illustrious descendant Motichand Virchand Shah.
Once, after concluding a festival in Vadtal, Shreeji Maharaj arrived in Gadhpur. Devotees from Gujarat presented a dedicated offering of 300 silver rupees. Handing the money to Ladha Thakkar, the manager of Dada Khachar’s estate, Shrihari instructed firmly: “Organize a grand feast (Chorashi) for the local Brahmins strictly within this sum of 300 rupees; ensure not a single coin is spent in excess!”
The feast was organized splendidly, with Shrihari personally serving rich churma laddoos drenched in fragrant ghee to all the Brahmins. However, when the final accounts were tallied, the actual expenditure amounted to 400 rupees! Expressing disapproval, Shrihari questioned Ladha Thakkar: “We explicitly commanded you to conclude within 300 rupees; from where shall We procure the deficit of 100 rupees now?”
At that exact second, Ada Shah arrived from Botad for darshan! Stepping into the assembly, he lovingly performed puja of Shreeji Maharaj, offered prostrations, and placed exactly 100 silver rupees at Shrihari’s lotus feet as an unconditional devotional offering! Astounded and overjoyed by this divine timing, Shreeji Maharaj handed the 100 rupees to Ladha Thakkar, remarking, “Behold! Ada Sheth has arrived at the precise moment to resolve our shortage!” Shrihari then delivered a vital practical instruction: “One must never expend beyond one’s income; those who exceed their revenues court endless misery!”
Placing both His holy hands upon Ada Sheth’s head, Shrihari showered unbounded divine grace upon him. Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami immortalized Ada Shah’s virtues in verse 27 of chapter 115 of the sacred Bhakta Chintamani.
