ભુજના ગંગારામ મલ્લ પૌત્રના મોહમાં રડતા હતા; નિર્ગુણદાસ સ્વામીએ સંબંધીઓને ધર્મશાળાના મુસાફરો જેવા જણાવી નિર્વાસનિક કર્યા અને શ્રીહરિ તેમને ધામમાં તેડી ગયા.
કચ્છ દેશના પાટનગર ભુજમાં ગંગારામ મલ્લ નામે પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજના એક પરમ નિષ્ઠાવાન, સેવાભાવી અને સમર્પિત હરિભક્ત રહેતા હતા. શ્રીહરિ જ્યારે જ્યારે ભુજ પધારતા ત્યારે ગંગારામ મલ્લ તન-મન-ધનથી પ્રભુ તથા સંતોની સેવા અર્ચનામાં લીન થઈ જતા.
પરંતુ સંસારની ગતિ વિચિત્ર છે. ગંગારામ મલ્લના જુવાનજોધ પુત્રનું આકસ્મિક અવસાન થયું. પુત્ર પોતાના પાછળ એક નાનું અબુધ બાળક (ગંગારામભાઈનો પૌત્ર) મૂકીને સ્વર્ગે સિધાવ્યો હતો. પુત્રશોક અને માતૃવિહોણા પૌત્રની દયનીય સ્થિતિ જોઈ ગંગારામ મલ્લના અંતરમાં પુત્ર અને પૌત્ર પ્રત્યે તીવ્ર સંસારી મોહ અને મમત્વ વ્યાપી ગયા. તેઓ પોતાના ઘરમાં બેસીને નાના પૌત્રને દૂધ પીવડાવતાં પીવડાવતાં આંખોમાંથી અશ્રુધારા વહાવતા હતા અને ધ્રૂસકે ધ્રૂસકે રડતા હતા.
તે સમયે સદગુરુ શ્રી નિર્ગુણદાસજી સ્વામી અન્ય સંતો સાથે સત્સંગ વિચરણ કરતાં કરતાં ભુજ પધાર્યા. સંતો ગંગારામ મલ્લના ઘરે પધાર્યા ત્યારે તેમણે જોયું કે એક સમર્થ સત્સંગી હરિભક્ત પૌત્રના મોહમાં વિહ્વળ થઈને રડી રહ્યા છે!
સદગુરુ નિર્ગુણદાસજી સ્વામી અત્યંત વૈરાગ્યવાન અને જ્ઞાની સંત હતા. તેમણે પ્રેમપૂર્વક છતાં અત્યંત નિર્ભીક અને કઠોર સત્યવાણીમાં ગંગારામ મલ્લને ટકોર કરતાં કહ્યું: “હે ગંગારામભાઈ! તમે તો સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણના એકાંતિક આશ્રિત છો! તમને સંસારના હાડચામના દેહધારી જીવો પ્રત્યે આવો ઘોર મોહ કેમ શોભે? આ સંસાર તો ધર્મશાળા જેવો છે, જ્યાં રાત્રિના સમયે અનેક મુસાફરો ભેગા થાય છે અને સવાર પડતાં જ પોતપોતાના રસ્તે વિખેરાઈ જાય છે! માતા, પિતા, પુત્ર કે પૌત્ર—કોઈ કોઈનું સગું નથી; જીવ માત્ર પોતાના પૂર્વકર્મ અનુસાર ભેગો થાય છે અને કર્મ પૂર્ણ થતાં વિખૂટો પડે છે. આ જીવનો સાચો અને શાશ્વત સગો તો માત્ર પરબ્રહ્મ શ્રીહરિ જ છે! જો અંતકાળે આ બાળકમાં તમારી વૃત્તિ ચોંટેલી રહેશે, તો તમારે ફરીથી સંસારના ફેરામાં ભટકવું પડશે! માટે આ ક્ષણભંગુર દેહ અને સગાંસંબંધીઓનો મોહ ત્યજી માત્ર શ્રીહરિના સ્વરૂપમાં ચિત્ત પરોવો અને નિર્વાસનિક બનો!”
સદગુરુ સ્વામીના આ જ્ઞાનગર્ભિત વચનો ગંગારામ મલ્લના હૃદયમાં સોંસરવા ઊતરી ગયા. તેમના અજ્ઞાનનું આવરણ ક્ષણવારમાં દૂર થઈ ગયું. તેમને સમજાયું કે જે બાળકનો ભાર પોતે વેઠવાની ચિંતા કરે છે, એનું રક્ષણ કરનાર તો સાક્ષાત્ જગદાધાર શ્રીહરિ છે. ગંગારામ મલ્લે તે જ ક્ષણે પૌત્ર અને પુત્ર પ્રત્યેનો સમગ્ર મોહ-મમત્વ ત્યાગી દીધો. તેમણે હાથ જોડી સ્વામીના ચરણોમાં ક્ષમા માંગી અને પોતાનું સંપૂર્ણ ચિત્ત શ્રીહરિની દિવ્ય મૂર્તિના સ્મરણમાં જોડી દીધું.
ત્યારપછી ગંગારામ મલ્લ અહોરાત્ર સ્વામિનારાયણ મહામંત્રના જાપમાં લીન રહેવા લાગ્યા. અંત અવસ્થામાં તેઓ સંપૂર્ણપણે નિર્વાસનિક અને બ્રહ્મરૂપ સ્થિતિને પામ્યા. જ્યારે એમનો અંતકાળ ઉપસ્થિત થયો, ત્યારે સ્વયં શ્રીજીમહારાજ અનંત મુક્તો અને દિવ્ય વિમાન સાથે ભુજ પધાર્યા અને ગંગારામ મલ્લને પોતાના શાશ્વત અક્ષરધામમાં તેડી ગયા!

भुज के गंगाराम मल्ल का पौत्र-मोह, निर्गुणदास स्वामी का उपदेश और निर्वासनिक सिद्धि
कच्छ की राजधानी भुज में गंगाराम मल्ल नामक समर्पित हरिभक्त रहते थे। कालान्तर में उनके युवा पुत्र का देहावसान हो गया, जो पीछे एक अबोध शिशु (पौत्र) छोड़ गया था। पुत्रशोक और अनाथ पौत्र के मोह में गंगाराम मल्ल व्याकुल होकर रोते रहते थे और दूध पिलाते हुए अश्रु बहाते थे।
उस समय सदगुरु श्री निर्गुणदासजी स्वामी संतों सहित भुज में उनके घर पधारे। एक निष्ठावान भक्त को पौत्र-मोह में रोते देखकर स्वामी ने स्नेहपूर्वक किंतु निर्भीक वाणी में प्रबोध दिया: “गंगारामभाई! आप सर्वावतारी स्वामीनारायण भगवान के भक्त होकर नश्वर देह के मोह में क्यों विलाप करते हैं? यह संसार सराय के समान है जहाँ रात्रि में बटोही मिलते हैं और भोर होते ही बिछुड़ जाते हैं। माता-पिता, पुत्र-पौत्र पूर्वजन्म के कर्मानुसार मिलते हैं। आत्मा का एकमात्र शाश्वत सगा केवल परमात्मा है! यदि अंतकाल में इस बालक में वासना रह गई, तो चौरासी का चक्कर नहीं छूटेगा। इसलिए इस क्षणभंगुर मोह को त्यागकर प्रभु में चित्त जोड़िए!”
स्वामी के इस बोध से गंगाराम मल्ल का मोहजाल कट गया। उन्होंने पुत्र-पौत्र की आसक्ति त्यागकर श्रीहरि के चरणों में अखंड भजन आरंभ किया। अंतकाल में वे पूर्णतः निर्वासनिक हो गए और श्रीजीमहाराज दिव्य विमान सहित पधारकर उन्हें अक्षरधाम ले गए।

Gangaram Mall of Bhuj Overcomes Worldly Attachment to His Grandson Through Sadguru Nirgundasji Swami’s Counsel
In the historic city of Bhuj in Kutch lived Gangaram Mall, a devoted and steadfast disciple of Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj. Whenever Shreehari visited Bhuj, Gangaram served the Lord and His holy sadhus with immense devotion and selflessness.
However, the vicissitudes of worldly life tested his faith. Gangaram Mall’s young son passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a helpless infant grandson. Stricken with deep grief and pity for the motherless infant, Gangaram Mall succumbed to intense worldly attachment. Sitting in his home feeding milk to the baby, tears rolled incessantly down his cheeks as he wept in despair.
During that time, Sadguru Shree Nirgundasji Swami arrived in Bhuj with fellow sadhus. Visiting Gangaram Mall’s residence, the enlightened sadhu was moved to see a respected devotee drowning in familial attachment.
Sadguru Nirgundasji Swami, renowned for his intense detachment and spiritual clarity, addressed him with stern yet deeply compassionate words: “O Gangaram Bhai! As an ekantik devotee of Supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan, does such overwhelming attachment to transient mortal bodies befit you? This material world is merely like an inn where weary travelers gather for the night and disperse at dawn! Parents, spouses, sons, and grandsons are brought together solely by past karmic debts and must inevitably part ways. The eternal and only true relation of the soul is with the Supreme Lord! If your mind remains tethered to this child at your final breath, you will be pulled back into the cycle of birth and death. Renounce this fleeting worldly illusion, fix your consciousness exclusively upon Shreehari’s divine form, and attain the state of absolute desirelessness (nirvasanikta)!”
These piercing words awakened Gangaram Mall from his spiritual slumber. The veil of worldly illusion lifted at once. Realizing that the Supreme Lord is the sole protector and sustainer of all beings, he instantly renounced all emotional attachment to his grandson and family affairs. Touching Swami’s lotus feet, he resolved to dedicate every remaining breath to unceasing contemplation of Shreehari.
Thereafter, Gangaram Mall remained absorbed in chanting the Swaminarayan Mahamantra. Reaching a sublime, desireless state of God-consciousness, his devotion attained perfection. When his earthly journey drew to a close, Lord Shreeji Maharaj Himself descended with a divine chariot and countless liberated souls, escorting Gangaram Mall triumphantly to the eternal abode of Akshardham.
