વાડીમાં સર્પદંશ થતાં વેલાભાઈએ અખંડ મહામંત્ર જપી ઝેર નિર્મૂળ કર્યું; અંતકાળે અડધી રાતે શ્રીહરિએ જૂઠા પટેલને દર્શન આપી વેલાભાઈને અક્ષરધામ પધરાવ્યા.
સૌરાષ્ટ્રના બગસરા ગામમાં વેલાભાઈ અને કલાભાઈ નામે બે સથવારા ભાઈઓ રહેતા હતા. સદ્ગુરુ સંતોના સત્સંગ સમાગમથી બંને ભાઈઓ પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજના પરમ એકાંતિક અને નિષ્ઠાવાન હરિભક્ત બન્યા હતા. તેઓ અવારનવાર ગઢપુર દર્શનાર્થે જતા અને પોતાની વાડીનાં તાજાં શાકભાજી, ફળો વગેરે શ્રીહરિના ચરણોમાં અર્પણ કરી ધન્યતા અનુભવતા.
એક દિવસ વેલાભાઈ પોતાની વાડીએ ખેતીકામ અને પિયત (વાહૂપું) કરવા ગયા હતા. વાડીમાં કૂવે સ્નાન કરી જેવા તેઓ પાણીના થાળામાંથી બહાર પગ મૂકવા જાય છે, ત્યાં જ એક કાળા નાગે તેમની પગની પિંડી પર જોરથી દંશ દીધો!
તે જ ક્ષણે વેલાભાઈને શ્રીહરિના સ્વમુખે સાંભળેલો ‘શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ’ મહામંત્રનો મહિમા સાંભરી આવ્યો: “સ્વામિનારાયણ મહામંત્રના અખંડ જાપથી કાળા નાગનું ઝેર પણ ઊતરી જાય અને જીવના સર્વે સંસારી વિષયો શમી જાય!” આ સ્મૃતિ થતાં જ વેલાભાઈએ કોઈ અન્ય ઉપાય શોધવાને બદલે અખંડ “સ્વામિનારાયણ… સ્વામિનારાયણ…” મંત્રજાપ શરૂ કરી દીધો. તેઓ પગપાળા ચાલતા ગામના મંદિરે આવ્યા અને શ્રીજીમહારાજની છબી સન્મુખ ચિત્ત એકાગ્ર કરી તલ્લીન થઈ ભજન કરવા લાગ્યા. સાંજ સુધીમાં તો સર્પનું તમામ વિષ આપોઆપ નિર્મૂળ થઈ ગયું! સાંજે ઘેર જઈ પરિવારને આ વાત જણાવી ત્યારે મહામંત્રના પ્રભાવે સર્પદંશમાંથી હેમખેમ ઊગરેલા જોઈ સર્વે ગામજનો આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ ગયા. ત્યારથી વેલાભાઈ હરતાં-ફરતાં અખંડ મહામંત્રનું રટણ કરતા.
વર્ષો વીત્યા બાદ વેલાભાઈ વૃદ્ધ થયા અને તેમનો અંતકાળ નજીક આવ્યો. તે સમયે પરમ દયાળુ શ્રીજીમહારાજ અનેક સંતો-હરિભક્તો સાથે દિવ્ય રથમાં બિરાજી વેલાભાઈને તેડવા માટે અડધી રાત્રે બગસરા પધાર્યા!
શ્રીહરિએ ગામની બહાર ખળાવાડમાં પહોંચી ત્યાં ચોકી કરતા જૂઠા પટેલ નામના ખેડૂતને દિવ્ય દર્શન આપી જગાડ્યા અને કહ્યું: “પટેલ! અમને વેલાભગતનું ઘર બતાવવા સાથે ચાલો!” જૂઠા પટેલે કહ્યું: “મહારાજ! મારું ખળું ખુલ્લું રેઢું છે, હું કેમ આવી શકું?” શ્રીહરિએ હસીને કહ્યું: “અમને થોડે દૂરથી ઘર બતાવીને તુરંત પાછા વળી જજો, અમે તમને નહીં રોકીએ!”
જૂઠો પટેલ આગળ ચાલ્યો અને પાછળ શ્રીહરિનો દિવ્ય રથ તથા સંતો-ભક્તોનો સંઘ ચાલ્યો. આટલા બધા સંતો-હરિભક્તોને જોઈ જૂઠા પટેલે પૂછ્યું: “વેલાભગતનું ઘર તો સાવ નાનું અને સાંકડું છે, તમે આટલા બધા ક્યાં સમાશો?” શ્રીહરિએ મલકાઈને કહ્યું: “તમે ઘર બતાવીને પાછા વળો, અમે સાંકડમાં પણ સમાઈ જઈશું!” જૂઠા પટેલે ગામમાં આવી ફળિયા તરફ આંગળી ચીંધી કહ્યું: “આ સામે રહ્યું વેલાભગતનું ઘર! હવે હું ખળે પાછો જાઉં છું.”
શ્રીજીમહારાજે ઘરમાં પ્રવેશી વેલાભાઈ સથવારાને દિવ્ય ચતુર્ભુજ દર્શન દીધા. વેલાભાઈએ હર્ષવિભોર થઈ કુટુંબીજનોને કહ્યું: “જુઓ, સાક્ષાત્ શ્રીહરિ સંતો-મુક્તો સાથે મને અક્ષરધામ તેડવા પધાર્યા છે! સૌ અખંડ ભજન કરજો, જય સ્વામિનારાયણ!” આમ કહી વેલાભાઈ પ્રભુના રથમાં બેસી અક્ષરધામમાં સિધાવી ગયા.
બીજે દિવસે સવારે જૂઠો પટેલ ગામમાં આવ્યો અને વેલાભગતના આંગણે જઈ પૂછ્યું: “ગઈકાલે રાત્રે સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન સંતો સાથે આવ્યા હતા, તે ક્યાં ઊતર્યા છે?” વેલાભાઈના પુત્ર ધનાભાઈએ આશ્ચર્યથી કહ્યું: “પટેલ! અહીં કોઈ મહેમાન રોકાયા નથી; ગઈકાલે અડધી રાત્રે મારા બાપા ‘ભગવાન મને તેડવા આવ્યા છે’ એમ કહીને ધામમાં સિધાવ્યા છે!” ત્યારે જૂઠા પટેલે વિસ્મય પામી સમગ્ર ઘટના વર્ણવી: “અરે! અડધી રાત્રે ખળાવાડમાં મને જગાડીને એમણે વેલાભગતનું ઘર પૂછ્યું હતું અને હું પોતે આગળ ચાલીને રથને અહીં સુધી દોરી લાવ્યો હતો!”
જૂઠા પટેલની આ પ્રત્યક્ષ સાક્ષી સાંભળી સમગ્ર ગામમાં શ્રીહરિના પ્રગટ પરચાનો જયજયકાર થઈ ગયો. જૂઠા પટેલને પણ દ્રઢ નિશ્ચય થયો કે ભગવાન સ્વામિનારાયણ અંતકાળે પોતાના ભક્તોને સાક્ષાત્ તેડવા આવે છે, અને તેમણે પણ કંઠી ધારણ કરી સત્સંગ સ્વીકાર્યો!

बगसरा के वेलाभाई सथवारा को सर्पदंश में महामंत्र का प्रभाव, जूठा पटेल की साक्षी और अक्षरधाम गमन
बगसरा में वेलाभाई सथवारा को खेत में विषैले काले नाग ने काट लिया। उन्होंने ‘स्वामीनारायण’ महामंत्र का अखंड जप शुरू किया और मंदिर में जाकर ध्यान में बैठ गए। महामंत्र के प्रभाव से विष पूर्णतः उतर गया।
वृद्धावस्था में जब वेलाभाई का अंतिम समय आया, तो श्रीजीमहाराज संतों सहित दिव्य रथ में सवार होकर मध्यरात्रि में बगसरा पधारे। गाँव के खलिहान में पहरा दे रहे जूठा पटेल को प्रभु ने जगाकर वेलाभाई का घर दिखाने को कहा। जूठा पटेल ने आगे चलकर घर का रास्ता बताया।
श्रीहरि ने वेलाभाई को दिव्य दर्शन दिए। वेलाभाई परिजनों को “जय स्वामीनारायण” कहकर प्रभु के साथ अक्षरधाम चले गए। अगली सुबह जब जूठा पटेल ने आकर रात की बात बताई, तो सभी को ज्ञात हुआ कि भगवान स्वयं पधारे थे। यह प्रत्यक्ष चमत्कार देखकर जूठा पटेल भी सत्संगी बन गए।

Velabhai Sathwara of Bagasara Overcomes Snakebite via the Mahamantra, Jutha Patel’s Midnight Witness, and Final Liberation
In the town of Bagasara in Saurashtra lived two brothers of the Sathwara community, Velabhai and Kalabhai. Through the spiritual fellowship of holy sadhus, both brothers became staunch, dedicated disciples of Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj. They regularly visited Gadhpur, bringing fresh vegetables and fruits cultivated in their orchards to place lovingly at Shreehari’s sacred lotus feet.
One afternoon, Velabhai went to his orchard for irrigation work. After bathing at the farm well, just as he was stepping out of the water basin, a deadly black cobra struck his lower calf, sinking its fangs deep into his flesh!
At that terrifying moment, Velabhai recalled the supreme glory of the ‘Shree Swaminarayan’ Mahamantra uttered by Shreehari’s own holy lips: “By the constant chanting of the Swaminarayan Mahamantra, even the deadliest snake venom is neutralized and all worldly desires of the soul dissolve!” Instead of seeking mundane remedies, Velabhai immediately began chanting “Swaminarayan… Swaminarayan…” with unwavering faith. Walking calmly to the village mandir, he sat in focused meditation before the sanctified image of Shreeji Maharaj. Within hours, the lethal venom was completely eradicated without a trace of harm! When he returned home and shared the incident, the astonished villagers marvelled at the miraculous power of the divine name. From that day onward, Velabhai chanted the Mahamantra with every breath.
Decades later, in his advanced old age, Velabhai’s final earthly hour drew near. Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj, seated upon a resplendent celestial chariot accompanied by an entourage of holy sadhus and liberated souls, arrived in Bagasara at midnight to escort His faithful servant!
Reaching the threshing grounds (khalavad) outside the village, Shreehari manifested before a farmer named Jutha Patel, who was guarding his harvested grain, and said: “Patel! Walk with Us and show Us the way to Velabhai’s house!” Jutha Patel replied: “Maharaj! My grain lies unguarded; how can I leave?” Shreehari smiled reassurance: “Point out the house from a short distance and return immediately; We shall not detain you!”
Jutha Patel led the way, followed by Shreehari’s glowing chariot and the retinue of sadhus. Observing the large assembly, Jutha Patel asked in wonder: “Velabhai’s house is very small and narrow; where will all of you fit?” Shreehari chuckled: “Guide Us near the house and return; We know how to dwell comfortably even in the narrowest quarters!” Upon reaching the village lane, Jutha Patel pointed out the house and hurried back to his fields.
Entering the modest dwelling, Shreeji Maharaj granted a four-armed divine vision to Velabhai. Overflowing with bliss, Velabhai called out to his family: “Behold! Lord Shreeji Maharaj has arrived in person with His saints to escort me to Akshardham! Churn the holy name constantly, Jay Swaminarayan to all!” With these parting words, Velabhai boarded the divine chariot and departed to Akshardham.
The following morning, Jutha Patel walked into the village and visited Velabhai’s home, asking: “Where are Lord Swaminarayan and the sadhus who arrived last night staying?” Velabhai’s son, Dhanabhai, answered with tears of joy: “Patel! No guests stayed here; at midnight my father announced that the Lord had arrived to escort him, and he left his mortal frame for Akshardham!” Jutha Patel was struck with awe: “Good heavens! The Lord Himself awakened me in the fields at midnight and I personally walked ahead to guide His chariot to your doorstep!”
Hearing Jutha Patel’s undeniable eyewitness testimony, the entire town resounded with the glory of Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s supreme grace. Deeply touched by this revelation, Jutha Patel too accepted the sacred kanthi and became a devoted satsangi.
