અલૈયામાં શ્રીહરિની નિંદા કરનારનો ગર્વ ઓગળ્યો; પ્રભુએ અજા સોનીને બાડા ગામે શિવમંદિર કરાવવા જણાવી કાને શિવલિંગવાળા દીકરાનું અમોઘ વચન આપ્યું.
પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રીજીમહારાજ એક સમયે સૌરાષ્ટ્રના અલૈયા ગામે પધાર્યા હતા. ત્યાં પરમ સ્નેહી હરિભક્ત નારણભાઈ સુથારને ઘેર આંગણામાં ભવ્ય સભા ભરીને પ્રભુ બિરાજમાન થયા હતા. (જે પવિત્ર સ્થાને આજે શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ મંદિર શોભી રહ્યું છે.) અલૈયા તથા આજુબાજુના ગામોમાંથી સેંકડો મુમુક્ષુઓ અને હરિભક્તો પ્રભુ પધાર્યાના શુભ સમાચાર જાણી દર્શનાર્થે દોડી આવ્યા અને સન્મુખ બેઠા.
તે સમયે શેખપાટ ગામથી સદગુરુ શ્રી નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીનો પૂર્વાશ્રમનો સાળો દસ-બાર માણસોને સાથે લઈને સભામાં ધસી આવ્યો. તેણે ક્રોધાવેશમાં શ્રીહરિ સમક્ષ આવી અવિવેકી વાણીમાં આક્ષેપ કરવા માંડ્યો: “તમે મારા બનેવી (લાલજી સુથાર) ને સાધુ બનાવી દીધા! હવે મારી બહેન અને નાનાં નાનાં ભાણેજો નોંધારાં રઝળે છે!” આમ કહી તે શ્રીહરિ સામે તોછડા અને અપમાનજનક શબ્દો બોલવા લાગ્યો.
પરંતુ સાક્ષાત્ પરબ્રહ્મ સામે અવિવેક કરતાં જ દૈવી પ્રભાવથી તેની જીભ એકાએક જકડાઈ ગઈ અને ટૂંકી પડી ગઈ! મુખમાંથી શબ્દો નીકળતા બંધ થઈ ગયા. પોતાના અપરાધનું પરિણામ પ્રત્યક્ષ જોઈ તે અત્યંત ભયભીત થઈ ગયો અને ક્ષણવારમાં સાથીદારો સાથે મૂંગા મોઢે શેખપાટ ભાગી ગયો.
ત્યારબાદ સભા શાંત થઈ. તે સમયે ગામના હરિભક્ત અજો સોની સભામાં આવ્યા. તેમણે શ્રીહરિના ચરણોમાં સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત પ્રણામ કર્યા અને સભામાં બેઠા. ત્યારે યજમાન નારણભાઈ સુથારે બંને હાથ જોડી શ્રીજીમહારાજને કરુણ વિનંતી કરી: “હે મહારાજ! આ અજા સોની આપના પરમ ભક્ત છે, પરંતુ એમને કોઈ વંશ કે સંતાન નથી; એમને એક શેર માટીની ખોટ છે. આપ દયાળુ છો, કૃપા કરીને એમને એક પુત્ર આપો!”
નારણભાઈની આ આજીજી સાંભળી શ્રીહરિ ખડખડાટ હસતાં બોલ્યા: “જુઓ નારણભાઈ! અમે તો કોઈને દીકરો કે દીકરી આપતા નથી; અમારો નિયમ તો એવો છે કે કોઈને દીકરા હોય તો એને પણ અમે સાધુ બનાવી દઈએ છીએ!” સભામાં હાસ્યનું મોજું ફરી વળ્યું. પરંતુ સર્વે હરિભક્તોએ ફરીથી કાલાવાલા કર્યા: “હે પ્રભુ! આપ તો ભક્તવત્સલ છો, આપના મુખેથી એક પુત્રનું વચન આપો!”
ત્યારે દયાળુ શ્રીહરિએ પ્રસન્ન થઈ અજા સોની સામે જોઈ કહ્યું: “અજા સોની! અમે તો જીવોનું કલ્યાણ કરવા આવ્યા છીએ. તમે બાડા ગામને ગોંદરે ભગવાન શંકરની એક નાની દેરી (મંદિર) કરાવજો; શિવજીની કૃપાથી તમારે ઘેર પુત્ર થશે! અને એ બાળકના કાન પર શિવલિંગ જેવો નાનો આંચળ (મસો) થશે, ત્યારે માનજો કે એ બાળક સાચે જ શિવજીની કૃપાથી જન્મ્યો છે!”
આમ અજા સોનીને અમોઘ વચન આપી શ્રીહરિ અલૈયાથી આગળ પધાર્યા. પ્રભુની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે અજા સોનીએ બાડા ગામના પાદરે ભગવાન ભોળાનાથની સુંદર દેરી બંધાવી પૂજન-અર્ચન કર્યું. શિવજીની પ્રસન્નતા અને શ્રીહરિના વચનથી બરાબર દસમા મહિને અજા સોનીની પત્નીએ એક તેજસ્વી પુત્રને જન્મ આપ્યો! નવજાત બાળકના કાન પાસે સાક્ષાત્ શિવલિંગના આકારનો નાનો આંચળ ઉપસેલો જોઈ સર્વે નગરજનો અને પરિવારજનો શ્રીહરિના વચનની સત્યતા જોઈ સ્તબ્ધ થઈ ગયા અને પ્રભુની જય બોલાવી.

गाँव अलैया में नारायणभाई सुथार के घर श्रीजीमहाराज की सभा आयोजित थी। (वर्तमान में वहाँ स्वामीनारायण मंदिर है।)
सभा में शेखपाट से निष्कुलानंद स्वामी के पूर्वाश्रम के साले ने आकर अभद्रता की और स्वामी को साधु बनाने का उलाहना दिया। प्रभु के प्रभाव से उसकी जीभ तुरंत जड़वत् हो गई और वह भयभीत होकर भाग गया।
सभा में निःसंतान अजा सोनी आए। नारायणभाई ने प्रार्थना की: “महाराज! अजा सोनी को संतान का वरदान दीजिए।” श्रीहरि हँसकर बोले: “हम तो पुत्र-पुत्री नहीं देते, उलटे पुत्रों को साधु बना देते हैं!” भक्तों के अत्यंत आग्रह पर प्रभु ने कहा: “अजा सोनी! बाडा गाँव की सीमा पर शिवजी की देहरी (मंदिर) बनवाओ; शिवजी पुत्र देंगे। पहचान यह होगी कि उस बालक के कान पर शिवलिंग जैसी निशानी होगी!”
अजा सोनी ने बाडा में शिव देहरी बनवाई। दसवें महीने उनके घर पुत्र हुआ, जिसके कान पर स्पष्ट शिवलिंग का उभार था। प्रभु के वचन को सत्य सिद्ध होते देख सभी विस्मयचकित रह गए।

Assembly at Naranbhai Suthar’s Home in Alaiya, the Disturbance by Nishkulanand Swami’s Brother-in-Law, and the Boon to Aja Soni
On one occasion, Supreme Lord Shreeji Maharaj graced the village of Alaiya in Saurashtra, residing at the home of His devoted disciple, Naranbhai Suthar. (Upon this very sanctified ground stands the grand Swaminarayan Mandir today.) Learning of the Lord’s arrival, hundreds of devotees and spiritual aspirants from Alaiya and neighboring villages gathered in the courtyard for a divine assembly.
Suddenly, the brother-in-law of Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami (from his pre-monastic life) barged into the courtyard from Shekhpat village, accompanied by ten to twelve aggressive men. Consumed by anger, he confronted Shreehari with disrespectful words: “You took away my brother-in-law (Lalji Suthar) and turned him into an ascetic sadhu! Now my sister and her young children are left destitute to wander without support!” He continued hurling harsh, offensive accusations at the Lord.
However, daring to disrespect the Supreme Lord brought swift divine retribution. His tongue instantly seized up and contracted; his vocal cords froze, rendering him completely speechless! Terrified by this unmistakable manifestation of divine power, the insolent man fled the assembly in utter panic along with his companions.
With peace restored, a humble village goldsmith named Aja Soni arrived, prostrated at Shreehari’s sacred lotus feet, and sat in the assembly. Seeing him, host Naranbhai Suthar folded his hands and submitted a heartfelt prayer to Shreeji Maharaj: “O Maharaj! This Aja Soni is a devoted soul, yet he is childless and deeply yearns for an heir. You are the embodiment of compassion; kindly bless him with a son!”
Hearing Naranbhai’s earnest plea, Shreehari burst into hearty laughter: “Behold, Naranbhai! We do not distribute sons or daughters; Our rule is quite the opposite—if anyone has sons, We turn them into renounced sadhus!” Laughter swept through the assembly, but the devotees persisted in their prayer: “O Lord! You are the shelter of Your devotees; please grant him the boon of a son through Your holy lips!”
Moved by their devotion, merciful Shreehari smiled upon Aja Soni and decreed: “Aja Soni! Our advent is to grant ultimate spiritual liberation to souls. Go and build a small shrine (deri) dedicated to Lord Shiva on the outskirts of Bada village; through Lord Shiva’s grace, you shall be blessed with a son! As a divine mark, the newborn child shall bear a small protrusion resembling a Shiva-linga upon his ear, confirming that he was born through the grace of Shiva!”
Bestowing this prophetic blessing, Shreehari departed from Alaiya. Faithful to the Lord’s injunction, Aja Soni constructed a lovely shrine for Lord Shiva at the entrance of Bada village and performed regular worship. Through the divine decree of Shreehari and Lord Shiva’s pleasure, in the tenth month Aja Soni’s wife gave birth to a radiant baby boy! When the family examined the infant, they found an unmistakable Shiva-linga-shaped mark upon his ear, exactly as foretold by Shreehari. The entire village was filled with awe at the unfailing truth of the Lord’s word.
