કાલુપુર મંદિરે નરનારાયણ દેવના આયુધ સારુ તલવાર ખરીદતાં મોટાભાઈ રામપ્રતાપજી સાથે કપટ કરનાર કોઠારી મરીને ભૂત થયો; સદગુરુ મહાનુભાવાનંદ સ્વામીની દયા અને મોટાભાઈની ક્ષમાથી તેનો પ્રેતયોનિમાંથી મોક્ષ થયો.
શ્રીજીમહારાજના મોટાભાઈ ધર્મધુરંધર રામપ્રતાપભાઈ એક વખત અમદાવાદ પધાર્યા હતા. અમદાવાદના પ્રસિદ્ધ કાલુપુર શ્રી નરનારાયણ દેવ મંદિરે એક દિવસ એક શસ્ત્ર વ્યાપારી સુંદર કલાત્મક તલવાર વેચવા આવ્યો. મોટાભાઈએ શ્રી નરનારાયણ દેવના શ્રીહસ્તે આયુધ તરીકે ધરાવવા માટે તે તલવાર ખરીદવાનો સંકલ્પ કર્યો.
વેપારીએ તલવારની કિંમત સાડા ત્રણ રૂપિયા જણાવી. તે સમયે મોટાભાઈની પાઘડીના છેડે ત્રણ રૂપિયા રોકડા બાંધેલા હતા. તેથી ખૂટતા આઠ આના (અડધો રૂપિયો) મંદિરના ભંડારમાંથી ચૂકવવા માટે તેમણે એક સેવકને કોઠારી પાસે મોકલ્યો. પરંતુ મંદિરના તે સમયના કોઠારીના મનમાં લોભ અને અવળાઈ જાગી. તેણે સેવકને ત્રણ-ત્રણ ધક્કા ખવડાવ્યા છતાં આઠ આના ન આપ્યા!
મોટાભાઈ ઘણી વાટ જોઈને અકળાયા. તેઓ હાથમાં સોટી લઈને સ્વયં ઝડપથી કોઠારીની ઑફિસ તરફ ચાલ્યા. મોટાભાઈને ક્રોધાવસ્થામાં દૂરથી આવતા જોઈને કોઠારીએ ભયના માર્યા અંદરથી કમાડ વાસી દીધાં! મોટાભાઈએ કોઠારીની આટલી નીચ વૃત્તિ અને ભગવાનના આયુધ પ્રત્યેની ઉપેક્ષા જોઈને ક્રોધે ભરાઈને કહ્યું, “અરે અસુર! દેવના કામમાં અને અમારા માણસને આઠ આના માટે ત્રણ-ત્રણ ધક્કા ખવડાવ્યા અને મંદિરનું બારણું બંધ કર્યું? જા, તું મરીને ભૂત થઈશ!”
સમય જતાં તે કોઠારીનું મૃત્યુ થયું. મોટાભાઈ જેવા પ્રતાપી મહાનુભાવના દ્રોહના ઘોર પાપે તે પ્રેતયોનિ પામ્યો. તે રોજ રાત્રે મંદિરની ઑફિસ અને કચેરીમાં ભૂત બનીને ભટકતો, ભયંકર પીડા ભોગવતો અને આવતા-જતા સૌને વિનંતી કરતો કે મને કોઈ આ અસહ્ય યાતનામાંથી મુક્ત કરાવો!
એક દિવસ પરમ સમર્થ સંત સદગુરુ મહાનુભાવાનંદ સ્વામી અમદાવાદ પધાર્યા. તેઓ અંતર્યામીપણે આ ભૂત બનેલા જીવની વ્યથા પામી ગયા. સ્વામી પોતે એક જ સંકલ્પથી કોઈ પણ જીવને મુક્ત કરવા પૂર્ણ સમર્થ હતા, છતાં મર્યાદા જાળવવા તેઓ દોડતા મોટાભાઈ રામપ્રતાપજી પાસે ગયા. સ્વામીએ મોટાભાઈને સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત પ્રણામ કરીને વિનંતી કરી, “હે મોટાભાઈ! પેલા કોઠારીએ અજ્ઞાનતાવશ આપનો દ્રોહ કર્યો હતો, જેના ફળસ્વરૂપે તે મરીને ભૂત થયો છે અને પારાવાર પીડા ભોગવી રહ્યો છે. હવે આપ ક્ષમારૂપી અમૃત છાંટો અને એ જીવ પર અનુગ્રહ કરો જેથી એનો છુટકારો થાય!”
રામપ્રતાપભાઈ સદગુરુ મહાનુભાવાનંદ સ્વામીની પરમ દયાળુ સંતવૃત્તિ જોઈ અત્યંત પ્રસન્ન થયા. તેમણે તત્કાળ શ્રીહરિના ચરણોમાં તે જીવના કલ્યાણ માટે પ્રાર્થના કરી. પ્રભુની કૃપા અને મોટાભાઈના આશીર્વાદથી પેલો કોઠારી તત્કાળ પ્રેતયોનિમાંથી મુક્ત થઈને દિવ્ય રૂપ ધરી બદરીકાશ્રમ પહોંચ્યો.

अहमदाबाद में रामप्रतापभाई की तलवार खरीद और द्रोही कोठारी की प्रेतयोनि से मुक्ति
श्रीजी महाराज के ज्येष्ठ भ्राता पूज्य रामप्रतापभाई एक बार अहमदाबाद पधारे थे। कालूपुर स्थित प्रसिद्ध श्री नरनारायण देव मंदिर में एक दिन एक शस्त्र व्यापारी अत्यंत सुंदर कलात्मक तलवार बेचने आया। रामप्रतापभाई ने नरनारायण देव के श्रीहस्त में आयुध (शस्त्र) रूप में अर्पित करने हेतु वह तलवार क्रय करने का विचार किया।
विक्रेता ने तलवार का मूल्य साढ़े तीन रुपये बताया। उस समय रामप्रतापभाई के पास पगड़ी के छोर में तीन रुपये बंधे थे। अतः शेष आठ आने (आधा रुपया) मंदिर के भंडार से चुकाने हेतु उन्होंने एक सेवक को कोठारी के पास भेजा। किंतु उस समय के कोठारी के मन में लोभ और दुर्भाव आ गया। उसने सेवक को तीन बार चक्कर लगवाए किंतु आठ आने नहीं दिए!
रामप्रतापभाई प्रतीक्षा करते-करते क्षुब्ध हो गए। वे हाथ में छड़ी लेकर स्वयं तीव्र गति से कोठारी के कार्यालय की ओर बढ़े। रामप्रतापजी को आते देख भयभीत कोठारी ने भीतर से किवाड़ बंद कर लिए! कोठारी की इस धृष्टता और देव-कार्य के प्रति उपेक्षा को देखकर रामप्रतापजी ने क्रुद्ध होकर कहा, “अरे असुर! देव-सेवा के लिए और हमारे सेवक को आठ आने हेतु तीन बार भटकाया और द्वार बंद किया? जा, तू मृत्यु के उपरांत प्रेत (भूत) बनेगा!”
कालान्तर में उस कोठारी की मृत्यु हुई। रामप्रतापभाई जैसे ईश्वरीय विभूति के द्रोह के कारण वह घोर प्रेतयोनि में पड़ा। वह नित्य रात्रि में मंदिर के कार्यालय में भूत बनकर भटकता और असह्य यातनाएँ भोगते हुए आने-जाने वालों से मुक्ति की गुहार लगाता।
एक दिन परम समर्थ संत सद्गुरु महानुभवानंद स्वामी अहमदाबाद पधारे। उन्होंने उस पीड़ित प्रेतात्मा की व्यथा जान ली। स्वामी स्वयं एक ही संकल्प से उसका उद्धार करने में समर्थ थे, किंतु मर्यादा का पालन करते हुए वे तुरंत रामप्रतापभाई के पास पहुंचे। स्वामी ने साष्टांग प्रणाम कर करबद्ध विनती की, “हे बड़े भाई! उस कोठारी ने अज्ञानवश आपका अपराध किया था, जिसके दंडस्वरूप वह प्रेत बनकर भीषण कष्ट झेल रहा है। अब आप उस पर कृपा कर क्षमा प्रदान कीजिए ताकि उसका उद्धार हो सके!”
रामप्रतापभाई सद्गुरु महानुभवानंद स्वामी की ऐसी असीम संत-करुणा देखकर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने तुरंत श्रीहरि से प्रार्थना की। प्रभु की कृपा और रामप्रतापजी के क्षमादान से वह कोठारी तत्काल प्रेतयोनि से मुक्त होकर दिव्य देह धारण कर बदरिकाश्रम चला गया।

Rampratapbhai’s Sword Purchase in Ahmedabad: Redeeming the Greedy Kothari from Ghostly Torment
Shreeji Maharaj’s elder brother, the revered Rampratapbhai, was visiting Ahmedabad. One day, a weapons merchant arrived at the Kalupur Shree Nar-Narayan Dev temple offering an exquisitely crafted sword. Desiring to offer the sacred weapon into the hands of Bhagwan Nar-Narayan Dev, Rampratapbhai decided to purchase it.
The merchant quoted a price of three and a half silver rupees. Rampratapbhai possessed three rupees tied securely in the hem of his turban. To settle the remaining eight annas (half a rupee), he sent an attendant to the temple’s storekeeper (Kothari). However, the miserly Kothari became obstinate and turned the messenger away three times without giving the petty change.
Exasperated by the prolonged delay, Rampratapbhai picked up his cane and strode personally toward the temple administrative office. Seeing the majestic elder brother approach with stern authority, the terrified Kothari bolted the doors from within! Infuriated by this blatant insolence and disrespect toward an offering meant for God, Rampratapbhai exclaimed: “You demonic wretch! For a mere eight annas destined for the Lord’s adornment, you harassed our attendant three times and slammed the door in our face? Go! Upon your death, you shall roam as a tormented ghost!”
In due course, the Kothari died. Bound by the curse of harboring malice against a holy soul, he was condemned to a wretched ghostly existence (bhuta yoni). Every night, his wandering spirit haunted the temple offices in agonizing agony, pleading desperately with anyone who passed by to deliver him from his misery.
Sometime later, the spiritually exalted paramhansa Sadguru Mahanubhavanand Swami arrived in Ahmedabad. Possessing divine vision, Swami perceived the ghost’s relentless torment. Though Swami had the yogic power to liberate the spirit in an instant, he upheld spiritual propriety by walking directly to Rampratapbhai. Prostrating before the elder brother, Swami pleaded: “O Motabhai! Out of ignorance, that foolish Kothari offended you and has been suffering terrible torment as a wandering ghost. Please shower the nectar of your forgiveness upon him so that his soul may find redemption!”
Moved by Sadguru Mahanubhavanand Swami’s boundless saintly compassion for even an unworthy transgressor, Rampratapbhai smiled warmly. He offered an earnest prayer to Shreehari for the departed soul’s salvation. By Shreehari’s grace and Rampratapbhai’s merciful pardon, the ghostly entity was instantly redeemed from his spectral bondage, assumed a luminous spiritual form, and was granted a place in the celestial realm of Badrikashram.
