Mankuva: Adabhai Garasiya Warned of Adverse Times and Saved by Obeying Shreehari’s Command

During His spiritual journey across Kutch, Bhagwan Swaminarayan visited the village of Mankuva, lodging at the estate of Garasiya chieftain Adabhai. Adabhai served a sumptuous feast with overflowing devotion, offered fragrant mukhvas, and invited Maharaj into his inner palace.

Guiding Maharaj through the courtyards, Adabhai unfolded his ambitious worldly aspirations: “O Maharaj! We currently possess two rooms and wish to build two more. We have two milch buffaloes and intend to buy two more so that fresh milk remains continuous. We own one mare and wish to purchase another, for when my father and I travel, if one rides while the other walks on foot, our royal prestige suffers! Two horses would preserve our dignity.”

Shreeji Maharaj inquired: “Adabhai! Where do you source fodder for so many animals?” Adabhai replied: “Maharaj, our neighboring farmland in Vadasar has lush pastures where farmers cultivate green crops year-round. We tether our animals there alongside theirs without incurring fodder expenses!”

Foreseeing future events, omniscient Shreehari delivered a solemn warning: “Adabhai! What if an adverse period of severe drought arrives when even the local farmers have no fodder left for their own oxen? They will inevitably tell you to take your livestock back. If you are returning home with belongings loaded upon your horse and the exhausted animal collapses and dies of starvation on the roadside, you will be forced to carry the heavy saddle upon your own head on foot! Where will your royal dignity be then? Therefore, undertake no new construction, and do not purchase additional buffaloes or horses! If you abide by Our words, you will prosper.”

Adabhai bowed in total submission: “O Maharaj! We place absolute faith solely in Your divine word. We shall act strictly according to Your guidance!” Adabhai abandoned his ambitious expansion. Soon after, a devastating drought swept Kutch, driving many wealthy estate owners into ruin, while Adabhai emerged unscathed and prosperous through strict obedience to Shreehari’s commands.
