પેશ્વા સેનાપતિ બાબા દીવાનનું ગઢડા પર ચડી આવવું, શ્રીહરિની આજ્ઞાથી દાદાખાચરનું બસો અસવારો સાથે નિર્ભયતાથી સામું જવું, શાસ્ત્ર-શસ્ત્રનો સંદેશો, કપિલા ગાયોની ભેટ અને વિંછીયા ગરાસનો ન્યાય.
પેશ્વાઈ હકૂમતના સેનાપતિ બાબા દીવાન મોટી સેના સાથે કાઠિયાવાડમાં ઊતરી આવ્યા હતા. ગઢપુરના જીવા ખાચરે પોતાના ભત્રીજા દાદાખાચરનો ગરાસ પડાવી લેવાના બદઈરાદાથી બાબા દીવાનને ચડાવ્યા કે, “દાદાખાચરે ગઢડામાં સ્વામિનારાયણને આશરો આપ્યો છે અને રાજ્યની વિરુદ્ધ પ્રવૃત્તિઓ ચાલે છે!” આથી બાબા દીવાન લશ્કર સાથે ગઢડા તરફ કૂચ કરી રહ્યા હતા.
દરબારગઢમાં સમાચાર આવતાં જ શ્રીજીમહારાજે પરમ વિશ્વાસુ દાદાખાચર સન્મુખ જોયું. દાદાખાચરે નમ્રતાપૂર્વક કહ્યું: “હે મહારાજ ! આપ અમારા રક્ષક છો. આ દેહ તો નાશવંત છે, આપની આજ્ઞા અર્થે આ દેહ કામ આવી જાય તો અમારાં પરમ અહોભાગ્ય!” દાદાખાચરની અડગ નિષ્ઠા જોઈ શ્રીહરિ અતિ પ્રસન્ન થયા. તેમણે પોતાની છાતીમાં દાદાખાચરનાં ચરણારવિંદ સ્થાપ્યાં, પોતાનો બુરહાનપુરી રેંટો, જરીની ડગલી, સુરવાળ અને દૂપટ્ટો અર્પણ કર્યાં, કેડે તલવાર બંધાવી અને બસો-ત્રણસો અસવારો સાથે બોટાદના માર્ગે સન્મુખ જવાની આજ્ઞા કરી.
શ્રીહરિની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે દાદાખાચર ગઢડાની સીમમાં દૂદાના ટીંબા પાસે જઈને ઊભા રહ્યા. બાબા દીવાન મેણામાં બેસીને પોતાની સેના સાથે ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા. દાદાખાચરે ઘોડેથી ઊતરી વિનમ્રતાપૂર્વક દીવાનનું સ્વાગત કર્યું. દીવાને આશ્ચર્ય સાથે પૂછ્યું ત્યારે દાદાખાચરે સિંહનાદ કર્યો: “હું શ્રીજીમહારાજનો સંદેશો લઈને આવ્યો છું કે દીવાનસાહેબને કહેજો, જો શાસ્ત્રે કરીને લડવું હોય તોય અમે તૈયાર છીએ અને શસ્ત્રે કરીને લડવું હોય તોય અમે તૈયાર છીએ!”
આ નિર્ભય વાણી સાંભળી દીવાન સ્તબ્ધ થઈ ગયા! તેમણે કહ્યું, “અરે દરબાર ! ક્યાં ભગવાન અને ક્યાં જીવ? હું તો રાજ્યનો તુચ્છ સેવક છું. કોઈ વચલા માણસોએ મારા વિશે ખોટી વાત ફેલાવી છે. આપ શ્રીહરિ પાસે જઈ મારો નમ્ર સંદેશો આપો.” દાદાખાચરે દરબારગઢ આવી સમાચાર આપ્યા એટલે મહારાજે દીવાનનું ઉચિત આતિથ્ય કરવા આજ્ઞા કરી.
દાદાખાચરે દીવાન અને તેમની સેનાને ભાવપૂર્વક મિજબાની કરાવી અને દસ દિવ્ય કપિલા ગાયો ભેટમાં ધરી. દીવાને ગાયોની કિંમત ચૂકવવા કહ્યું ત્યારે દાદાખાચરે કહ્યું, “અમારી સાત પેઢીએ ક્યારેય ગાયો વેચી નથી, આ તો પ્રભુપ્રીત્યર્થે ભેટ છે!” દીવાન દાદાખાચરના ગુણો પર ઓળઘોળ થઈ ગયા. તેમણે જીવા ખાચરને બોલાવી કડક ઠપકો આપ્યો અને વિંછીયાનો યોગ્ય ગરાસ દાદાખાચરને અપાવી ન્યાય કર્યો. દીવાને પોતાનાં સોનાનાં કડાં અને સાંકળાં દાદાખાચરને ભેટ આપી વિદાય લીધી.

पेशवा सेनापति बाबा दीवान विशाल सेना लेकर काठियावाड़ पहुंचे। जीवा खाचर के बहकावे में आकर वे गढडा की ओर बढ़े। श्रीजीमहाराज की आज्ञा से दादाखाचर दो सौ घुड़सवारों के साथ दूदा के टींबे पर पहुंचे।
दादाखाचर ने निर्भीक होकर प्रभु का संदेश दिया: “यदि शास्त्र से युद्ध करना हो तो भी हम तैयार हैं और शस्त्र से लड़ना हो तो भी हम प्रस्तुत हैं!” यह सुनकर दीवान नतमस्तक हो गए और कहा कि वे भगवान से विरोध नहीं चाहते, किसी ने उन्हें भ्रमित किया था।
दादाखाचर ने दीवान का सत्कार कर दस कपिला गायें भेंट कीं। दीवान ने प्रभावित होकर जीवा खाचर को फटकार लगाई और विंछिया की भूमि का न्यायपूर्ण भाग दादाखाचर को दिलवाया। प्रभु कृपा से समस्त संकट टल गया।

Baba Diwan: Dada Khachar’s Fearlessness and Peaceful Resolution through Shreehari’s Grace
Baba Diwan, a powerful Peshwa commander, marched into Kathiawar with a formidable army. Instigated by Jiva Khachar, who sought to usurp Dada Khachar’s rightful estate by falsely accusing him of harboring Swaminarayan and defying state authority, the Diwan advanced menacingly toward Gadhada.
When the alarming news reached the darbargadh, Shreeji Maharaj looked at Dada Khachar. Dada Khachar bowed in total surrender: “O Lord! You are our sole protector. This mortal frame is ephemeral; if it falls in service of Your divine command, it would be my supreme fortune!” Thrilled by his unflinching conviction, Shreehari embraced him, blessed him with His divine touch, adorned him with His royal Burhanpuri shawl, embroidered coat, and turban, girded a sword at his waist, and dispatched him with two to three hundred horsemen toward the Botad frontier.
Dada Khachar intercepted the Diwan’s army at Duda’s mound on the outskirts of Gadhpur. Dismounting respectfully, Dada Khachar greeted the Diwan. When questioned, Dada Khachar boldly delivered Shreehari’s message: “Tell the Diwan Saheb that if he wishes to debate through sacred scriptures, We are ready; and if he chooses to battle through weapons, We are equally prepared!”
Stunned by this calm fearlessness, Baba Diwan dismounted: “Darbar! God is supreme and I am merely a mortal servant! Devious instigators have poisoned my mind with false rumors. Pray return to Shreehari and convey my humble salutations.” When Dada Khachar reported this, Maharaj instructed royal hospitality.
Dada Khachar hosted a grand banquet for the Diwan’s troops and gifted ten auspicious Kapila cows. When the Diwan offered payment, Dada Khachar replied: “For seven generations, our family has never sold mother cow; these are offered out of pure spiritual goodwill!” Overwhelmed by Dada Khachar’s nobility, the Diwan severely reprimanded Jiva Khachar, officially restored the disputed Vinchiya estate to Dada Khachar, presented him with gold bracelets and precious robes, and departed peacefully.
