ગઢપુરના ગોવિંદજી વિપ્રની ત્રણ વાર પગપાળા જગન્નાથ પુરી યાત્રા, અગાસી પર આમરણ અનશન, જગન્નાથજીનું ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી પાસે જવાનું આદેશ અને અંતકાળે અક્ષરધામ પ્રાપ્તિ.
ગામ ગઢપુરમાં ગોવિંદજી નામે એક પરમ પવિત્ર બ્રાહ્મણ રહેતા હતા. પોતાના જીવના આત્યંતિક મોક્ષની અદમ્ય ઝંખનાને લીધે તેઓ પગપાળા ચાલીને ત્રણ-ત્રણ વખત જગન્નાથ પુરીની કઠિન યાત્રા કરી આવ્યા હતા! છતાં તેમના અંતરમાં પોતાના આત્માના કલ્યાણની પૂર્ણ પ્રતીતિ કે શાંતિ થતી નહોતી. છેવટે તેમણે જગન્નાથજીના મુખ્ય મંદિરની અગાસી પર બેસીને આમરણાંત અનશન વ્રત (ઉપવાસ) આદર્યું કે જ્યાં સુધી પ્રભુ સાક્ષાત્ કલ્યાણનો માર્ગ ન બતાવે ત્યાં સુધી પ્રાણ ત્યજી દેવા.
તે રાત્રે સાક્ષાત્ પ્રભુ જગન્નાથજીએ એક તેજોમય બ્રાહ્મણના વેશમાં ગોવિંદજીને દર્શન આપીને કહ્યું: “હે ગોવિંદજી ! જો તારે સાચે જ તારા જીવનું કલ્યાણ જોઈતું હોય, તો તું સોરઠ દેશમાં જા અને ત્યાં ભગવાન સ્વામિનારાયણના પ્રમુખ શિષ્ય સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી પાસે જા. તેઓ જે કહે તેમ કરજે, તારું કલ્યાણ થઈ જશે!” ગોવિંદજીએ પ્રશ્ન કર્યો, “પ્રભુ ! તેઓ મારું કલ્યાણ કરી જ શકે તેની ખાતરી શું?” ત્યારે જગન્નાથજીએ કહ્યું, “તું ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી પાસે જા અને એ તને જેમ કહે એમ કરજે, એમાં જ તારું મોક્ષ સમાયેલું છે.”
ભગવાન જગન્નાથજીના આદેશથી ગોવિંદજી પુનઃ સૌરાષ્ટ્ર આવ્યા અને ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીની શોધ કરતાં કરતાં ભાલ પ્રદેશમાં દરેડ ગામે પહોંચ્યા. સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી એ વખતે દરેડના પાદરે પધાર્યા હતા. ગોવિંદજીએ દૂરથી જ સ્વામીને જોઈને જોરથી બૂમ પાડી. બોટાદના ભગા દોશી શેઠે કહ્યું, “સ્વામી ! પેલો બ્રાહ્મણ આપને સાદ કરે છે.” સ્વામી હસીને બોલ્યા, “એ ભલે સાદ કરે, એ તો ત્રણ વાર જગન્નાથ જઈને દોડતો આવ્યો છે!”
સ્વામી નજીક આવતાં ગોવિંદજીને કહ્યું, “જગન્નાથ પ્રભુએ તને અહીં મોકલ્યો એટલે આવ્યો ને?” ગોવિંદજી અતિ અહોભાવથી નતમસ્તક થઈ બોલ્યા, “સ્વામી ! આપ જ સાક્ષાત્ જગન્નાથ છો!” ત્યારે ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીએ પરમ નમ્રતાથી કહ્યું: “ગોવિંદજી ! અમે તો પૂર્ણપુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાન શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણના મૂંડેલા સાધુ અને દાસ છીએ. ભજન તો માત્ર સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનનું જ થાય, સાધુનું ક્યારેય ભજન ન કરાય! તમે રોજ નિયમપૂર્વક ભગવાન સ્વામિનારાયણની પાંચ માળા કરજો, તમારું કલ્યાણ નિશ્ચિત થશે.” પરંતુ ગોવિંદજીએ ગુરુરૂપે ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીનું અખંડ સ્મરણ ચાલુ રાખ્યું. અંતકાળે ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીએ દિવ્ય સ્વરૂપે દર્શન આપ્યાં. ગોવિંદજીએ પોતાના પુત્રને કહ્યું: “બેટા ! ઘીનો દીવો પ્રગટાવ, ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી મને તેડવા પધાર્યા છે અને હું તેમની સાથે પ્રભુના અક્ષરધામમાં જાઉં છું!” આમ કહી તેમણે સુખપૂર્વક દેહ ત્યાગ કર્યો.
નો’તી દીઠી નો’તી સાંભળી રે, પ્રગટાવી એવી પુનિત…. પુરુષોત્તમ પ્રગટી રે.

गढपुर के गोविंदजी विप्र का कल्याण: जगन्नाथजी की आज्ञा और सद्गुरु गोपालनंद स्वामी का दिव्य आश्रय
गढपुर के पवित्र विप्र गोविंदजी ने मोक्ष की तीव्र लालसा में तीन बार पैदल जगन्नाथ पुरी की यात्रा की, किंतु उन्हें अंतःशांति नहीं मिली। अंततः उन्होंने मंदिर की छत पर आमरण अनशन का संकल्प ले लिया।
उसी रात्रि भगवान जगन्नाथजी ने विप्र वेष में दर्शन देकर आदेश दिया: “यदि तुम्हें कल्याण चाहिए तो सौराष्ट्र जाकर भगवान स्वामीनारायण के महान शिष्य सद्गुरु गोपालनंद स्वामी की शरण ग्रहण करो।”
गोविंदजी सौराष्ट्र लौटे और भाल प्रदेश के दरेड गांव में गोपालनंद स्वामी के दर्शन किए। स्वामीजी ने दूर से ही पहचानकर कहा, “जगन्नाथजी के भेजे यहां आए हो न?” गोविंदजी ने विह्वल होकर कहा, “आप ही साक्षात जगन्नाथ हैं!” स्वामीजी ने परम विनम्रता से कहा, “हम तो केवल भगवान स्वामीनारायण के दास हैं। भजन केवल भगवान का होता है, साधु का नहीं। आप स्वामीनारायण महामंत्र की पांच माला फेरना, आपका कल्याण होगा।” गोविंदजी ने जीवनभर गुरु-वचनों का पालन किया और अंतिम समय में स्वामीजी के दिव्य दर्शन पाकर अक्षरधाम को गमन किया।

Govindji Brahmin of Gadhpur: Command of Lord Jagannath and Divine Shelter of Sadguru Gopalanand Swami
In the sacred town of Gadhada lived Govindji, a virtuous Brahmin burning with an intense quest for ultimate liberation. Driven by spiritual longing, he had undertaken arduous pilgrimages on foot three times to Jagannath Puri! Yet, an unshakeable conviction of his soul’s salvation eluded him. Desperate, he climbed atop the rooftop terrace of the Jagannath temple and resolved to fast unto death unless the Lord personally revealed the true path to salvation.
That night, Lord Jagannath appeared before him in the guise of a radiant Brahmin, declaring: “O Govindji! If you genuinely seek the salvation of your soul, go to Saurashtra and seek shelter under Sadguru Gopalanand Swami, the foremost disciple of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Follow his instructions, and your redemption is assured!” Govindji inquired, “O Lord, what is the guarantee that he can grant me liberation?” Jagannathji replied, “Go to Gopalanand Swami and do as he guides you; therein lies your eternal deliverance.”
Obeying the divine mandate, Govindji returned to Saurashtra, searching tirelessly until he reached the outskirts of Dared village in the Bhal region. Seeing Sadguru Gopalanand Swami from afar, he called out. Bhaga Doshi of Botad mentioned the shouting pilgrim to Swami, who smiled: “Let him call; he has returned after three pilgrimages to Jagannath Puri!”
As Govindji reached Swami’s holy presence, Gopalanand Swami remarked: “Lord Jagannath sent you here, did He not?” Overwhelmed with conviction, Govindji fell at Swami’s feet: “Swami! You yourself are Lord Jagannath!” Gopalanand Swami gently admonished him with supreme humility: “Govindji! We are merely the shaven monks and humble servants of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Worship belongs exclusively to God, never to a sadhu! Chant the holy Swaminarayan mahamantra for five rosaries daily, and your salvation is guaranteed.” Govindji practiced this devotion devoutly. At his final moment, Gopalanand Swami manifested in celestial splendour. Govindji urged his son: “Light a pure ghee lamp; Sadguru Gopalanand Swami has arrived to take me to Akshardham!” Speaking these serene words, he ascended to the divine realm.
