ભુજમાં હમીર તળાવે પંચધૂણી તાપતા બાવાઓનું જલેબી-મોતિયા પર લડી મરવું અને અખાડામાં મહાબળી ગંગારામ મલ્લના હાથને ભીંસી ગર્વ ઉતારી શ્રીકૃષ્ણરૂપે દર્શન આપવાનું ચરિત્ર.
એક સમયે શ્રીજીમહારાજ ભુજનગરમાં ભક્તોને દિવ્ય સુખ આપવા પધાર્યા હતા. એક દિવસે તેઓ પ્રેમી હરિભક્તો સાથે હમીર તળાવે સ્નાન કરવા પધાર્યા. રસ્તામાં એંશી (૮૦) જેટલા ખાખી બાવાઓ પંચધૂણી તાપીને બેઠા હતા. હરિભક્તોએ કહ્યું, “મહારાજ ! આ બાવાઓ મોટા તપસ્વી જણાય છે, તેમને જમાડીએ તો મોટું પુણ્ય થાય.”
શ્રીજીમહારાજે હસીને ભક્તો પાસે ગામમાંથી જલેબી અને મોતિયા લાડુના ચાર-ચાર મોટા ટોપલા મંગાવ્યા. જ્યારે બાવાઓના મહંતને પૂછ્યું ત્યારે મહંતે અહંકારથી કહ્યું, “અમે એ સ્વામિનારાયણ નુગરાનું અન્ન ન જમીએ!” પરંતુ તેમના ભંડારીએ મીઠાઈ લેવાની સંમતિ આપી. જ્યારે ટોપલા ભંડારી તરફ લઈ જવાયા, ત્યારે મહંતે રોક્યા અને બંને પક્ષો વચ્ચે મીઠાઈના ટોપલા લેવા સારુ ભારે ઝઘડો થયો! તાપણાંનાં સળગતાં લાકડાં લઈને બાવાઓ સામસામે એવા લડ્યા કે લોહીલુહાણ થઈ ગયા! ભક્તો આશ્ચર્ય પામી બોલ્યા, “આ ત્યાગી નથી પણ માતેલા સાંઢ છે!”
ત્યાંથી આગળ વધતાં શ્રીહરિ મલ્લશાળા (અખાડા) પાસે નીકળ્યા. અંદર મલ્લો કુસ્તી કરતા હતા અને થપાટોની ગર્જનાઓ થતી હતી. શ્રીજીમહારાજ અખાડામાં પધાર્યા. ત્યાં સદ્ગુરુ રામાનંદ સ્વામીના શિષ્ય એવા મહાબળી ગંગારામ મલ્લ બેઠા હતા. શ્રીહરિએ કહ્યું, “ગંગારામ ! તમે કેમ કુસ્તી નથી કરતા ?”
ગંગારામ મલ્લે અભિમાનથી કહ્યું, “મહારાજ ! અહીંથી સો-સો ગાઉ સુધી મારી તોલે આવે તેવો કોઈ બળીયો નથી!” શ્રીહરિએ હસતાં કહ્યું, “તો લાવો, મારો હાથ પકડી જુઓ!”
ગંગારામ હસીને બોલ્યા, “મહારાજ ! રહેવા દો, હું તો બંધ મૂઠ્ઠીએ સો નાળિયેર ફોડી નાખું છું; તમારાં આ કોમળ હાડકાં તો શોધ્યાંય નહીં જડે!”
શ્રીહરિના આગ્રહથી ગંગારામે મહારાજનો હાથ પકડ્યો. ક્ષણવારમાં જ શ્રીજીમહારાજે અદ્ભુત આંચકો મારીને પોતાનો હાથ છોડાવી લીધો! પછી શ્રીહરિએ કહ્યું, “હવે લાવો તમારો હાથ!” શ્રીજીમહારાજે ગંગારામ મલ્લનો હાથ પોતાના પંજામાં પકડીને એવો ભીંસ્યો કે ગંગારામની આંગળીઓમાંથી લોહીના ટશિયા ફૂટી નીકળ્યા!
ગંગારામ મલ્લનો સમસ્ત ગર્વ ક્ષણવારમાં ગળી ગયો! પોતાની ભૂલ સમજાતાં જ તેઓ પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં ઢળી પડ્યા. ભક્તવત્સલ શ્રીહરિએ કૃપાવાન થઈને ગંગારામ મલ્લને ચતુર્ભુજ ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણરૂપે દિવ્ય દર્શન આપી પૂર્ણ પરબ્રહ્મની અચળ પ્રતીતિ કરાવી.

भुज में हमीर तालाब पर खाखी बावाओं का कौतुक और अखाड़े में गंगाराम मल्ल का गर्व-भंग
एक बार श्रीजीमहाराज भुज में हमीर तालाब पर स्नान करने पधारे। मार्ग में अस्सी खाखी बावा पंचाग्नि तप रहे थे। भक्तों के आग्रह पर प्रभु ने उनके लिए जलेबी और मोतिया लड्डू मंगवाए। बावाओं के महंत ने अभिमानवश मना किया, किंतु भंडारी ने स्वीकार किया। दोनों गुटों में मिठाइयों के लिए ऐसा भीषण युद्ध हुआ कि वे जलती लकड़ियों से एक-दूसरे को लहूलुहान करने लगे! भक्तों को उनका पाखंड समझ आ गया।
आगे चलकर प्रभु अखाड़े में पहुंचे, जहां प्रसिद्ध पहलवान गंगाराम मल्ल बैठे थे। प्रभु ने कहा, “गंगाराम ! तुम कुश्ती क्यों नहीं लड़ते ?” गंगाराम ने गर्व से कहा, “महाराज ! सौ कोस तक मेरे समान कोई बलशाली नहीं है!”
प्रभु बोले, “अच्छा ! जरा मेरा हाथ पकड़कर दिखाओ।” गंगाराम बोला, “महाराज ! मैं मुट्ठी से नारियल फोड़ देता हूं, आपकी कोमल हड्डियां चूर हो जाएंगी!”
प्रभु के आग्रह पर गंगाराम ने हाथ पकड़ा, किंतु प्रभु ने एक ही झटके में हाथ छुड़ा लिया! फिर प्रभु ने गंगाराम का हाथ पकड़कर ऐसा प्रचंड दबाव दिया कि गंगाराम की उंगलियों से रक्त की बूंदें छलक आईं! गंगाराम का सारा अहंकार चूर-चूर हो गया। वे चरणों में गिर पड़े। तब दयालु श्रीहरि ने उन्हें चतुर्भुज श्रीकृष्ण रूप में दर्शन देकर कृतार्थ किया।

Pastimes at Hamir Lake in Bhuj: The Hypocritical Ascetics and Shattering Gangaram Mall’s Pride
During His stay in Bhuj, Shreeji Maharaj walked with devotees towards Hamir Lake for a morning bath. On the way, around eighty Khakhi ascetics were seated performing the severe penance of five fires (panchadhooni). Devotees suggested feeding them sweets to acquire spiritual merit.
Smiling, Shreeji Maharaj had large baskets of warm jalebis and motiya ladus fetched from the town. When approached, the haughty chief abbot (mahant) refused arrogantly, whereas his storekeeper (bhandari) eagerly consented. A violent brawl instantly erupted between the two factions over the sweets! Grabbing flaming firewood logs, the supposedly detached ascetics struck each other until blood flowed profusely! The devotees remarked in shock, “These are not renunciants; they are wild beasts fighting over food!”
Proceeding further, Shreehari arrived at a wrestling gymnasium (akhada). Inside, the formidable wrestler Gangaram Mall was seated. Shreehari asked, “Gangaram! Why are you not wrestling?”
Gangaram boasted with immense pride: “Maharaj! Within a radius of a hundred leagues, there is no wrestler powerful enough to equal my strength!” Shreehari challenged gently, “In that case, clasp My hand!”
Gangaram chuckled arrogantly, “Maharaj, spare Yourself! With my bare fist I crush a hundred coconuts at once; Your delicate bones will turn to powder!”
Upon Maharaj’s insistence, Gangaram grasped the Lord’s hand. In an instant, Shreeji Maharaj jerked His hand free effortlessly! Then Maharaj said, “Now offer Me your hand!” Grasping Gangaram’s hand within His divine palm, Shreehari applied such colossal divine force that blood welled up beneath Gangaram’s fingernails!
Gangaram’s immense pride was shattered in a second! Realizing his folly, he fell prostrate at the Lord’s lotus feet. Compassionate Shreehari blessed the humbled wrestler with the transcendental vision of Lord Shri Krishna, granting him absolute conviction in His supreme divinity.
