મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીના મનમાં તુંબડી અભડાવાની ચિંતા જાણી અંતર્યામી શ્રીહરિએ આપેલો હરિધ્યાનનો મહિમા અને સાધુઓની સુંદર-રંગદાર તુંબડીઓ ભાંગી વૈરાગ્ય દ્રઢ કરાવવાનું ચરિત્ર.
સદ્ગુરુ શ્રીમુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી સંતમંડળ સાથે વિચરણ કરતા હતા. એક સમયે તેમની પાસે એક સુંદર, ઘાટીલી અને સુઘડ તુંબડી (સાધુઓનું જળપાત્ર) હતી. સ્વામી રાત્રે સૂવા ગયા ત્યારે તેમના મનમાં સહજ સંકલ્પ ઊઠ્યો: “રખેને રાત્રે કોઈ જનાવર કે કૂતરું આવીને મારી આ સુંદર તુંબડીને અભડાવી ન જાય!” સ્વામીના ચિત્તમાં આ તુંબડીની સુરક્ષાનો ઉચ્ચાટ થવા લાગ્યો.
અંતર્યામી શ્રીજીમહારાજે સ્વામીના મનનો આ સૂક્ષ્મ ઘાટ તુરંત જાણી લીધો. શ્રીહરિએ પ્રગટ થઈને મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને જગાડતાં કહ્યું: “સ્વામી શ્રીહરિમાં ધ્યાન રાખો, તુંબડીની ફિકર તજી નાંખો…! માલ છે હરિધ્યાનમાં જેવો, નથી તુંબડીમાં માલ તેવો..!”
શ્રીહરિના આ અમૃતમય વચનો સાંભળી મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી સફાળા જાગી ગયા અને પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત્ પ્રણામ કર્યા. સ્વામી ગદ્ગદ કંઠે બોલ્યા, “હે પ્રભુ ! આપ સાક્ષાત્ અંતર્યામી પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ છો. આપે મારા અંતરનો સૂક્ષ્મ આસક્તિરૂપ ઘાટ ક્ષણવારમાં જાણી લીધો!”
ત્યારબાદ શ્રીજીમહારાજે સર્વે સંતોને સભામાં બોલાવ્યા અને સર્વે સાધુઓની તુંબડીઓ મંગાવી. જે જે સાધુઓની તુંબડીઓ અત્યંત સુંદર, રંગદાર, ચળકતી કે રજોગુણી જણાતી હતી, તેના કાંઠા મહારાજે સ્વહસ્તે ભાંગીને બોખી કરાવી દીધી! જેથી સાધુઓને નિર્જીવ પાત્ર પ્રત્યે પણ લેશમાત્ર આસક્તિ ન રહે અને ચિત્ત કેવળ પરબ્રહ્મના સ્વરૂપમાં જ લીન રહે. સંતોએ પણ હર્ષભેર પ્રભુની આ લીલાને વધાવી લીધી.

मुक्तानंद स्वामी की तुम्बड़ी की चिंता, अंतर्यामी श्रीहरि का उपदेश और रजोगुणी पात्रों का त्याग
सद्गुरु श्रीमुक्तानंद स्वामी एक बार अपनी एक सुंदर, सुडौल जल-तुम्बड़ी को लेकर रात्रि में विश्राम कर रहे थे। सोते समय उनके मन में एक सूक्ष्म विचार आया: “कहीं कोई पशु आकर मेरी इस सुंदर तुम्बड़ी को अपवित्र न कर दे!” इस प्रकार उनके चित्त में उस पात्र की सुरक्षा की चिंता होने लगी।
अंतर्यामी श्रीजीमहाराज ने स्वामी के मन का यह विचार तुरंत जान लिया। प्रभु ने प्रत्यक्ष होकर स्वामीजी से कहा: “स्वामी श्रीहरि में ध्यान रखो, तुम्बड़ी की फिक्र तज डालो…! जो आनंद हरि के ध्यान में है, वह इस तुच्छ तुम्बड़ी में कहां?!”
प्रभु की अमृतवाणी सुनकर मुक्तानंद स्वामी तुरंत जाग उठे और चरणों में दंडवत प्रणाम किया। स्वामी बोले, “हे बहुनामी प्रभु ! आप साक्षात अंतर्यामी हैं, आपने मेरे मन का गुप्त संकल्प जान लिया।”
तत्पश्चात श्रीजीमहाराज ने सभी संतों को बुलाकर उनकी तुम्बड़ियां मंगवाईं। जिन-जिन संतों की तुम्बड़ियां अत्यधिक सुंदर, रंगीन अथवा रजोगुणी थीं, प्रभु ने उनके किनारे तुड़वाकर उन्हें खुरदुरा व साधारण बनवा दिया, ताकि संतों का चित्त बाह्य वस्तुओं के सौंदर्य में न उलझकर केवल परमात्मा के स्वरूप में ही एकाग्र रहे।

Muktanand Swami’s Concern for His Water Gourd, Shreehari’s Counsel, and Renunciation of Vanity
Sadguru Muktanand Swami was once resting at night, having kept beside him a particularly well-shaped, elegant dried-gourd water vessel (tumbadi). As he lay down, a passing concern arose in his mind: “What if an animal or stray dog comes by night and defiles my fine tumbadi?” This attachment created a subtle restlessness in his consciousness.
Omniscient Shreeji Maharaj immediately perceived the fleeting thought. Manifesting before Swami, Shreehari compassionately awakened him with nectarine guidance: “Swami, fix your meditation upon Shreehari and abandon all anxiety over the tumbadi! The profound spiritual treasure found in divine contemplation of the Lord is nowhere to be found in a perishable gourd!”
Hearing the Lord’s divine counsel, Muktanand Swami immediately bowed at His lotus feet and exclaimed with deep devotion, “O Lord! You are undeniably the omniscient Supreme Being who knows the innermost secrets of every heart!”
Thereafter, Shreeji Maharaj convened an assembly of all sadhus and inspected their water vessels. Wherever He found tumbadis that appeared excessively polished, ornate, or rajasic in appearance, Maharaj broke their fine rims, making them plain and chipped. Through this divine pastime, the Lord eradicated even the subtlest attachment to worldly objects from the hearts of His renunciants, steering their minds purely towards divine meditation.
