કુંકાવાવના લોહાણા મુક્તરાજ સુંદરજીભાઈ ગીલાની સદ્ગુરુ બાલમુકુંદદાસ સ્વામી પ્રત્યે અનન્ય ગુરુભક્તિ, માંદગી વખતે સંતોનું આગમન, તમામ સંકલ્પ ત્યાગી મૂર્તિમાં લીન થઈ અક્ષરધામગમન.
ગામ કુંકાવાવમાં સુંદરજીભાઈ ગીલા નામે લોહાણા જ્ઞાતિના એકાંતિક હરિભક્ત રહેતા હતા. તેઓ સદ્ગુરુ ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીની પરંપરાના મહાન સંતો—સદ્ગુરુ બાલમુકુંદદાસજી સ્વામી, નારાયણદાસજી સ્વામી, કૃષ્ણચરણદાસજી સ્વામી વગેરેના પાવન સત્સંગથી આત્મનિવેદી ભક્ત બન્યા હતા. પોતાની આર્થિક સ્થિતિ અત્યંત સાધારણ હોવા છતાં, જ્યારે જ્યારે સંતો કુંકાવાવ પધારે ત્યારે પ્રેમપૂર્વક રસોઈ બનાવીને જમાડતા. જૂનાગઢ શ્રી રાધારમણ દેવના પાટોત્સવમાં અચૂક દર્શને જતા અને પોતાની પરસેવાની કમાણીમાંથી શુદ્ધ દશાંશ-વિશાંશ નિયમિત અર્પણ કરતા.
સદ્ગુરુ બાલમુકુંદદાસજી સ્વામી પ્રત્યે સુંદરજીભાઈને અતિશય હેત હતું અને સ્વામી પણ તેમની નિષ્કપટ મુમુક્ષુતા જોઈને એક પત્ર લખતાં જ કુંકાવાવ પધારતા. એક સમયે સદ્ગુરુ બાલમુકુંદદાસ સ્વામી માળિયા હાટીના સ્થિત જૂનાગઢ મંદિરની વાડીએ બિરાજતા હતા. તે સમયે કુંકાવાવમાં સુંદરજીભાઈની વૃદ્ધાવસ્થા અને માંદગી વધી. તેમને અંતરમાં જણાયું કે હવે દેહનો કોઈ ભરોસો નથી. તેથી પોતાનો ખાટલો ગામના મંદિરે લેવડાવી સ્વામીને પત્ર લખ્યો: “હવે દેહનો ભરોસો રહ્યો નથી, માટે આપ દર્શન દેવા પધારો.”
પત્ર મળતાં જ બાલમુકુંદદાસ સ્વામી જૂનાગઢ થઈને તુરંત કુંકાવાવ પધાર્યા. સ્વામીએ સુંદરજીભાઈ પાસે આવીને કહ્યું, “ભગત ! શ્રીજીમહારાજ તેડવા પધારશે, માટે સંસારની સર્વ વૃત્તિઓ પાછી વાળીને પ્રભુના સ્વરૂપમાં તૈયાર થઈ જાઓ.” સુંદરજીભાઈએ હાથ જોડી કહ્યું, “સ્વામી ! હું તો શ્રીહરિ સાથે અક્ષરધામ જવા તૈયાર જ બેઠો છું.”
પછી સુંદરજીભાઈએ પુત્ર દામોદરને બોલાવી કહ્યું, “દામોદર ! સંતોનું પૂજન કરીને સર્વેને નવાં ધોતિયાં ઓઢાડ. આપણા ગામમાં બહેનોનું મંદિર બને છે તેમાં રૂપિયા બસોની સેવા આપજે અને ઘરમાં રહેલી તાંબાની ગોળી મંદિરને દાન કરી દેજે, જેથી સંતો આવે ત્યારે કામ આવે.” સુંદરજીભાઈ પુત્રને આવી શુભ ભલામણો કરતા હતા, ત્યારે અંતર્દ્રષ્ટિ કરાવતાં બાલમુકુંદદાસ સ્વામીએ ટકોર કરી: “સુંદરજીભાઈ ! હવે આ તમામ શુભ સંકલ્પો પણ છોડી દો અને તમારું મન કેવળ ને કેવળ શ્રીજીમહારાજની દિવ્ય મૂર્તિમાં જોડી રાખો!” સુંદરજીભાઈએ તુરંત જ સર્વ સંકલ્પો શમાવી દીધા.
દેહત્યાગનો સમય નજીક આવ્યો ત્યારે સ્વામીએ પુત્ર દામોદરને કહ્યું, “દામોદર ! હવે અંતકાળ છે અને શ્રીજીમહારાજ મુક્તો સાથે પધારશે. મંદિરના ઠાકોરજીની પૂજાસેવામાં બાધ ન આવે અને સૂતક ન લાગે તે માટે પિતાજીનો ખાટલો ઘેર લઈ જાઓ.” સ્વામીએ ઠાકોરજીનું ચરણામૃત પાયું અને સુંદરજીભાઈના મસ્તક પર આશીર્વાદનો હાથ મૂક્યો.
ઘેર પહોંચતાં જ શ્રીજીમહારાજ અનંત મુક્તો સાથે દિવ્ય વિમાનમાં પધાર્યા. સદ્ગુરુ સંતના આશીર્વાદથી સુંદરજીભાઈ બોલતાં ચાલતાં શાંતિપૂર્વક પંચભૌતિક દેહ ત્યાગીને અક્ષરધામમાં સિધાવ્યા.
આવે અંતસમો સુભક્તજનને સંતો સમીપે રહે..! કોઈ કીર્તન ગાય થાય સુમતિ વાર્તા પ્રભુની કહે..! પ્રીતિ દેહ સુગેહમાંહી નવ રહે વૃત્તિ પ્રભુમાં ઠરે..! એવાનું અતિ ધન્ય ધન્ય મરવું સદ્ધામમાં સંચરે..!!

कुंकावाव के सुंदरजीभाई गीला की गुरुभक्ति, सद्गुरु बालमुकुंददास स्वामी और अक्षरधाम गमन
कुंकावाव गांव में सुंदरजीभाई गीला नामक लोहाणा जाति के एक परम निष्ठावान एकांतिक भक्त रहते थे। वे सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के शिष्यमंडल—सद्गुरु बालमुकुंददासजी स्वामी, नारायणदासजी स्वामी तथा कृष्णचरणदासजी स्वामी के संग से आत्मनिवेदी भक्त बने थे। अत्यंत साधारण आर्थिक स्थिति होते हुए भी वे संतों की निष्काम भाव से सेवा करते, नियमित दशांश-विशांश निकालते और जूनागढ़ के पाटोत्सव में सम्मिलित होते थे।
सद्गुरु बालमुकुंददास स्वामी पर उनका अगाध प्रेम था। एक बार स्वामीजी मालिया हाटीना में जूनागढ़ मंदिर की वाड़ी में विराजमान थे। उस समय कुंकावाव में सुंदरजीभाई की अस्वस्थता बढ़ गई। उन्होंने अपना खाट गांव के मंदिर में डलवाया और स्वामीजी को पत्र लिखा कि अब देह का भरोसा नहीं है, अतः दर्शन देने पधारें।
पत्र पाते ही बालमुकुंददास स्वामी तुरंत कुंकावाव पहुंचे। स्वामीजी ने सुंदरजीभाई से कहा, “भगत ! श्रीजीमहाराज आपको धाम ले जाने पधारेंगे, अतः संसार की सभी वृत्तियां समेटकर प्रभु के स्वरूप में लीन हो जाइए।” सुंदरजीभाई ने हाथ जोड़कर कहा, “स्वामीजी ! मैं तो प्रभु के साथ धाम जाने हेतु तत्पर बैठा हूं।”
सुंदरजीभाई ने अपने सुपुत्र दामोदर को बुलाकर कहा, “दामोदर ! सभी संतों का पूजन कर नवीन धोती अर्पण करो। गांव में बन रहे महिला मंदिर में दो सौ रुपये की सेवा देना और घर की तांबे की बड़ी गगरी मंदिर को दान कर देना ताकि संतों के उपयोग में आए।” जब वे पुत्र को ऐसी शुभ सीख दे रहे थे, तब स्वामीजी ने टोकते हुए कहा, “सुंदरजीभाई ! अब इन शुभ संकल्पों को भी विराम दीजिए और अपना संपूर्ण चित्त केवल श्रीजीमहाराज के चरणारविंद में एकाग्र कीजिए!” सुंदरजीभाई ने तुरंत सभी विचार त्याग दिए।
अंतिम घड़ी निकट देखकर स्वामीजी ने दामोदर से कहा कि मंदिर में सूतक व सेवा की मर्यादा बनाए रखने हेतु खाट घर ले जाएं। स्वामीजी ने ठाकुरजी का चरणामृत पिलाया और उनके सिर पर वरदहस्त रखा। घर पहुंचते ही श्रीजीमहाराज अनंत मुक्तों सहित पधारे और सुंदरजीभाई बोलते-चालते सहज भाव से देह त्यागकर परमधाम अक्षरधाम में सिधार गए।

Sundarjibhai Gila of Kunkavav: Guru Bhakti towards Balmukunddasji and Peaceful Departure
In the village of Kunkavav lived Sundarjibhai Gila, an exalted and dedicated devotee from the Lohana community. Nurtured by the illustrious disciples of Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami—including Sadguru Balmukunddasji Swami, Narayandasji Swami, and Krishnacharandasji Swami—Sundarjibhai was a completely surrendered soul. Despite possessing very modest financial means, he served visiting sadhus with pure devotion, regularly offered tithes (dashansh-vishansh) from his hard-earned wages, and faithfully attended annual celebrations at the Junagadh mandir.
Sundarjibhai held deep spiritual affection for Sadguru Balmukunddas Swami. Once, while Swami was staying at the temple orchards in Maliya Hatina, Sundarjibhai’s health declined sharply due to old age. Knowing his final days were near, he had his cot moved to the village mandir and sent a letter to Swami: “This mortal frame has no certainty left; please grace me with your holy darshan.”
Upon receiving the message, Balmukunddas Swami rushed to Kunkavav. Approaching his bedside, Swami lovingly instructed, “Bhagat! Shreeji Maharaj will personally arrive to receive you; withdraw all mental faculties from worldly attachments and absorb your consciousness in the divine form of the Lord.” Sundarjibhai folded his hands and replied, “Swami, I am sitting fully prepared to depart with Shreehari to Akshardham.”
Sundarjibhai summoned his son Damodar and said, “Damodar, worship these holy sadhus and offer each of them fresh dhotis. Contribute two hundred rupees towards the women’s mandir being constructed in our village, and donate our large copper vessel to the mandir for the sadhus’ use.” Hearing him offer these charitable instructions, Swami gently guided him to supreme detachment: “Sundarjibhai! At this sacred juncture, lay aside even these noble worldly thoughts and fix your mind exclusively upon the lotus feet of Shreeji Maharaj!” Sundarjibhai instantly relinquished all thoughts.
As his final moment approached, Swami instructed Damodar to move the cot home so that the village mandir’s sanctified rituals and Thakurji’s seva would remain undisturbed by formal mourning traditions (sutak). Swami sanctified him with holy charnamrit and placed his hand of blessing upon his head. Upon reaching home, Shreeji Maharaj arrived in resplendent glory accompanied by infinite liberated muktas. Blessed by his spiritual master, Sundarjibhai peacefully abandoned his mortal frame and ascended to Akshardham.
