સારંગપુરમાં શ્રીહરિ દ્વારા દર્શનની બંધી થતાં સદગુરુ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીનું ‘મારે ઘેર આવ્યા રે સુંદરવર શામળિયો’ પદ રચના, પ્રભુનું ગદ્ગદ થઈ દોડીને ભેટવું અને સાથે રાખવા આજ્ઞા.
સંવત ૧૮૭૯માં સદગુરુ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી સંતમંડળ સાથે સત્સંગ વિચરણમાં નીકળ્યા. તે સમયે શ્રીજીમહારાજ સારંગપુરમાં જીવા ખાચરના દરબારમાં બિરાજતા હતા અને કોઈ કારણસર સંતોને દર્શનની બંધી કરેલી હતી. દૂર દેશાંતરમાં જતાં પહેલાં પ્રભુનાં દર્શનની ઝંખના સાથે મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી સારંગપુરની ભાગોળે પધાર્યા અને ભગુજી મારફતે દર્શનની રજા મંગાવી. શ્રીહરિએ ભગુજીને મોકલી સંદેશો આપ્યો: “સ્વામીને કહો કે દર્શનની બંધી છે, માટે જેમ આવ્યા તેમ જ વિચરણમાં ચાલ્યા જાય.”
હવે ફરી દર્શન ક્યારે થશે એ વિચારે મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી ઉદાસ થઈ ગયા. તેમણે ભગુજીને થોડીવાર રોકાવા કહી, લોજના આશ્રમમાં નીલકંઠ વર્ણી પધાર્યા ત્યારથી માંડીને પ્રભુ સાથે વિતાવેલી મધુર સ્મૃતિઓ કંડારી દાસત્વ ભક્તિની પરાકાષ્ઠા સમાન દસ પદોનું અમર કીર્તન રચ્યું: “મારે ઘેર આવ્યા રે, સુંદરવર શામળિયો… આજ તો અમને દર્શન દુર્લભ, ભેળા બેહીને જમતા..! બાળ સ્નેહી રે મોહન મુજને ગમતા.. જે કહેતા તે કામ જ કરતા, નટવર રહેતા નમતા….! બાળ સનેહી રે, મોહન મુજને ગમતા…!”
સ્વામીએ આ કીર્તનનો ખરડો ભગુજી સાથે મહારાજ પાસે મોકલ્યો. શ્રીજીમહારાજની આજ્ઞાથી શુકાનંદ સ્વામીએ ભાવવિભોર થઈને આ પદો ગાઈ સંભળાવ્યાં. મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીનો આટલો અગાધ સ્નેહ અને વિરહભાવ જોઈ શ્રીહરિનું હૃદય દ્રવી ઊઠ્યું! પ્રભુએ ગદ્ગદ કંઠે ભગુજીને કહ્યું: “સ્વામીને હમણાં જ અહીં તેડી લાવો!”
મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી દરબારગઢમાં આવ્યા અને દંડવત કરવા લાગ્યા, ત્યાં તો શ્રીજીમહારાજ ઢોલિયેથી દોડીને સ્વામીને પ્રેમપૂર્વક બાથમાં ભરી ભેટી પડ્યા! શ્રીહરિએ કહ્યું: “સ્વામી! હવે તમારે દૂર વિચરણમાં નથી જવું; તમે અમારી સાથે ગઢપુર ચાલો અને પછી આપણી સાથે ભુજ મંદિરની મૂર્તિપ્રતિષ્ઠામાં પધારો!” આમ શ્રીહરિએ સ્વામી પ્રત્યેના ગુરુભાવ અને સ્નેહને વશ થઈ તેમને કાયમ પોતાની સાથે રાખ્યા.

સારંગપુરમાં દર્શનની બંધી, મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીનું વિરહ કીર્તન અને શ્રીહરિનું મિલન
संवत १८७९ में सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी संत-मंडल के साथ विचरण पर निकले। सारंगपुर में श्रीजीमहाराज ने किसी कारणवश संतों के दर्शन पर रोक लगा रखी थी। गांव के बाहर पहुंचकर स्वामीजी ने दर्शन की अनुमति मांगी, किंतु श्रीहरि ने भगुजी द्वारा संदेश भिजवाया कि दर्शन की मनाही है, अतः वे आगे बढ़ जाएं।
दर्शन न मिलने के विरह में मुक्तानंद स्वामी ने लोझ में नीलकंठ वर्णी के आगमन से लेकर समस्त मधुर स्मृतियों को संजोकर दस पदों का अमर विरह-कीर्तन रचा: “मारे घेर आव्या रे, सुंदरवर शामळियो… आज तो अमने दर्शन दुर्लभ, भेळा बेहीने जमता! बाळ स्नेही रे मोहन मुजने गमता… जे कहेता ते काम ज करता, नटवर रहता नमता! बाळ स्नेही रे मोहन मुजने गमता…!”
जब शुकमुनि ने यह पद गाकर सुनाया, तो श्रीजीमहाराज का हृदय प्रेम से भर आया। प्रभु ने तत्काल मुक्तानंद स्वामी को बुलवाया और स्वयं दौड़कर स्वामीजी को गले से लगा लिया! श्रीहरि ने उन्हें विचरण पर जाने से रोककर सदैव अपने साथ गढपुर और भुज मंदिर प्रतिष्ठा में साथ रखा।

Sarangpur Muktanand Swami Virah Kirtan
In Samvat 1879, Sadguru Muktanand Swami set out on a regional satsang tour with his assembly of ascetics. At that time, Bhagwan Swaminarayan resided at Jiva Khachar’s court in Sarangpur, where He had instituted a temporary restriction (darshan bandhi) on ascetic meetings. Arriving at the outskirts of Sarangpur before embarking on their distant journey, Muktanand Swami sent attendant Bhaguji to request permission for darshan. Shreehari sent Bhaguji back with the directive: “Tell Muktanand Swami that darshan is temporarily suspended; they should proceed on their tour as they have come.”
Pained by the thought of not knowing when he would behold his beloved Lord again, tears welled in Muktanand Swami’s eyes. Asking Bhaguji to pause, Swami poured out his overflowing love, reminiscing about the tender days when Nilkanth Varni arrived at Loj ashram and lived in humble obedience. Swami composed an immortal ten-stanza hymn of pure devotion on the spot: “Maare gher aavya re, sundarvar shaamaliyo… Aaj to amne darshan durlabh, bhela behine jamta! Baal snehi re Mohan mujne gamta… Je kaheto te kaam ja karta, Natvar raheta namta! Baal snehi re Mohan mujne gamta…!” (“Today His darshan is hard to attain, yet once He sat eating beside me! Beloved is that childhood friend Mohan to me… Whatever I asked, He willingly performed, living in humble reverence! Beloved is that Mohan to me…!”)
Bhaguji carried the manuscript into the court. At Shreehari’s request, Shukanand Swami sang the verses aloud with melodic pathos. Listening to Muktanand Swami’s tender affection, Shreeji Maharaj was deeply moved. Overwhelmed with emotion, He commanded Bhaguji: “Bring Swami here this very instant!”
As Muktanand Swami entered the courtyard and fell in prostration, Shreeji Maharaj leapt from His cot, rushed forward, and wrapped His arms around Swami in an emotional divine embrace! Shreehari said: “Swami! You shall not depart on distant travels; come with Us to Gadhpur, and you shall accompany Us to consecrate the temple at Bhuj!” Bound by unconditional love, Shreehari kept Swami permanently by His side.
