ગઢપુરમાં એભલબાપુના વૃદ્ધાવસ્થાના સમયે મહેસૂલ અને બળદની તંગી, બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી સમક્ષ રજૂઆત અને શ્રીહરિ દ્વારા ૩૬ તોફાની વાછરડાંને નાથી ૧૮ જોડ બળદ બનાવવાની લીલા.
શ્રીહરિ એભલબાપુના પ્રેમને વશ થઈ કારિયાણીથી ગઢપુર પધાર્યા ત્યારે દાદા ખાચર માત્ર ચાર વર્ષના હતા. લાડુબાં-જીવુબાં સર્વસ્વ સમર્પી સંતો-હરિભક્તોની સેવા કરતાં. સમય જતાં એભલબાપુ વૃદ્ધ થયા અને દરબારગઢનો તમામ વહીવટ કારભારી હરજી ઠક્કર સંભાળતા. સંતો-હરિભક્તોની ઉદાર સેવાથી જાવક વધી જતાં ભાવનગર રાજ્યનું મહેસૂલ ભરવું મુશ્કેલ બન્યું. હરજી ઠક્કરે સદગુરુ બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી પાસે જઈ વ્યથા ઠાલવી: “સ્વામી! એભલબાપુ વૃદ્ધ છે અને દાદા ખાચર હજુ બાળક છે. જો આ વર્ષે મહેસૂલ નહીં ભરાય તો ભાવનગર દરબાર ખળામાંથી ઉપજ જપ્ત કરશે. જમીન ખેડવા માટે આપણી પાસે માત્ર પાંચ જોડ બળદ છે; વધારાના બળદ ખરીદવા નાણાં નથી!”
બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામીએ આશ્વાસન આપ્યું: “જે પરિવારે શ્રીહરિ કાજે સર્વસ્વ હોમી દીધું, તેમનો વહેવાર પ્રભુ પોતે સંભાળશે.” સ્વામીએ દરબારગઢમાં થાળ જમતા શ્રીજીમહારાજ સમક્ષ આ વાત મૂકી. શ્રીહરિએ પ્રસન્ન થઈ કહ્યું: “બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી! એભલબાપુની ગાયોના ૩૬ વાછરડાં બીડમાં છૂટાં ચરી સાંઢ જેવાં તોફાની બન્યાં છે; પાર્ષદોને કહો કે બપોર પછી તેમને બીડમાં એકઠા કરે. અમે પંડ્યે તે ૩૬ વાછરડાંને નાથી દઈશું, એટલે ૧૮ નવી જોડ બળદ ખેતી માટે તૈયાર થઈ જશે!”
બપોરે શ્રીહરિએ પાર્ષદો સાથે બીડમાં પધારી, અદ્ભુત લીલા રચી સર્વ મદોન્મત્ત વાછરડાંને વશ કરી નાથ પહેરાવી દીધી! ૧૮ જોડ બળદ તૈયાર થતાં ખેતીની સમસ્યા હલ થઈ ગઈ. એભલબાપુએ આંખમાં આંસુ સાથે ગદ્ગદ થઈ પ્રાર્થના કરી: “પ્રભુ! હું તો પાનખરનું ખર્યું પાન છું; મારા નાના દાદાને આપના ચરણોમાં સોંપું છું, આપ તેનું ધ્યાન રાખજો!” શ્રીહરિએ દાદા ખાચરના મસ્તક પર હાથ મૂકી અભય વચન આપ્યું: “એભલબાપુ! આ દાદો તો અમારો છે; આ ગઢડું અને દરબારગઢ અમારું પોતાનું ઘર છે અને અમે કાયમ અહીં જ રહીશું!”

गढपुर में एभलबापु की वृद्धावस्था के समय दरबार में संतों-भक्तों की उदार सेवा के कारण व्यय बढ़ गया और भावनगर राज्य का राजस्व चुकाना कठिन हो गया। कारभारी हरजी ठक्कर ने सद्गुरु ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी से निवेदन किया कि खेती के लिए केवल पांच जोड़ी बैल हैं और नए बैल खरीदने हेतु धन का अभाव है।
ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी ने श्रीजीमहाराज से प्रार्थना की। प्रभु ने लीला करते हुए कहा कि चरागाह में स्वच्छंद घूम रहे एभलबापु के ३६ सांड़ों (बछड़ों) को एकत्रित किया जाए। श्रीहरि ने स्वयं लीला करके उन सभी ३६ उद्दंड बछड़ों को नाथकर शांत किया, जिससे खेती हेतु १८ नई बैल-जोड़ियां उपलब्ध हो गईं और कृषि की समस्या हल हो गई।
एभलबापु ने भावविभोर होकर अपने बालक दादा खाचर का हाथ श्रीहरि के करकमलों में सौंपते हुए संरक्षण की प्रार्थना की। प्रभु ने दादा खाचर के सिर पर हाथ रखकर अभय वचन दिया: “एभलबापु! यह दादा तो हमारा ही है; यह गढपुर और दरबार हमारा निज गृह है और हम सदैव यहीं निवास करेंगे!”

Gadhpur Ebhal Bapu 36 Wild Bullocks
When Bhagwan Swaminarayan arrived in Gadhpur bound by the pure love of chieftain Ebhal Bapu, Dada Khachar was merely four years old. Sisters Laduba and Jivuba served the Lord, the ascetics, and visiting devotees with boundless selflessness. In time, as Ebhal Bapu advanced in age, estate administrator Harji Thakkar managed the court’s affairs. With expenditure increasing due to generous hospitality for hundreds of visiting sadhus, paying the annual land revenue to the Bhavnagar state became precarious. Harji Thakkar approached Sadguru Brahmanand Swami in distress: “Swami! Ebhal Bapu is frail, and young Dada Khachar is just nine years old. To plow our extensive lands, we have only five pairs of draft bullocks, and no funds to purchase more!”
Brahmanand Swami reassured him: “A royal family that has surrendered everything for Shreehari will never be abandoned; the Lord Himself will manage Dada Khachar’s affairs!” Swami conveyed the situation to Shreeji Maharaj as He sat for lunch. Smiling benevolently, Shreehari instructed: “Brahmanand Swami! Ebhal Bapu’s thirty-six young bullocks have grazed wild in the pastures, growing unruly like wild bulls. Have the attendants round them up this afternoon; We shall personally tame and nose-rope all thirty-six, providing eighteen new pairs of plowing bullocks!”
That afternoon, displaying divine physical mastery, Shreehari entered the pastures with His attendants, subjugated each wild beast effortlessly, and affixed nose-ropes to all thirty-six bullocks, creating eighteen prime plowing pairs and resolving the agricultural crisis! Wiping tears of devotional gratitude with his turban cloth, Ebhal Bapu surrendered young Dada Khachar: “O Lord! I am a withered autumn leaf ready to fall; I place my little Dada at Your lotus feet—please protect him!” Placing His sanctifying hand upon Dada Khachar’s head, Shreehari promised: “Ebhal Bapu! This Dada is Ours; this Gadhada court is Our eternal home, and We shall dwell here forever!”
