બરવાળાના રાધાબાઇ અને ડાહ્યાની માનો પ્રસંગ
એકવખતે શ્રીહરિ ધોળકાથી સહુ કાઠીદરબારો સાથે ઘોડેસ્વાર થઇને નીસર્યા તે ગામ બરવાળે પહોંચ્યા, ત્યાં ઉતાવળી નદીએ ઘોડાને પાણી પાવા સારું સહું અસવારો સાથે ઉભા રહ્યા. ઉતાવળી નદીના જળમાં શ્રીહરિ તેમજ સહુ સાથેના દરબારો માણકી ઘોડી તેમજ અન્ય ઘોડાને પાણી પાઇને હાથ-મુખ વગેરે ધોઇને નદીની રેતીમાં થોડીવાર પોરો ખાવા સારું રોકાયા. આ વખતે ગામના વસતાભાઇ લુહાણાના દિકરા વશરામની વહુ રાધા અને ડાહ્યા સુથારની માં બેઉ નદીએ પાણી ભરવા આવેલ હતી, બેઉને એ વખતે નદીએ હેલ્યું ભરીને ચાલવા જતા શ્રીહરિની મનોહર મુર્તિના દર્શન થયા, બેઉના ચિત્ત મુર્તિમાં ચોંટી ગયા અને પોતાનું દેહભાન ભૂલી ગઇ. થોડીવાર વિશ્રામ કરીને શ્રીહરિ તો માણકીએ અસવાર થઇને સહુ દરબારો સાથે કૂંડળ થઇને ગઢપુર ભણી ચાલી નીસર્યા, પરંતું આ વખતે આ બેઉ બાઇઓ ના મન શ્રીહરિની મુર્તિમાં જોડાઇ જતા પાણીના બેડાં હેઠા મેલીને ગઢપુરમાં રસ્તે ચાલતી નીસરી.
બરવાળા થી કૂંડળ થઇને ૫ચાસેક કિલોમીટરનો પંથ કાપીને શ્રીહરિ ગઢપુર પધાર્યા. દરબારગઢમાં શ્રીહરિનું સામૈયું થયુ અને લાડુબાં-જીવુંબાંએ શ્રીહરિ તથા સાથેના સહુ દરબારોને વિવિધ રસોઇના થાળ કરીને જમાડયા. નાજા જોગીયાએ માણકી તથા દરબારો ના ઘોડાઓને ઘેલા નદીએ લઇ જઇને ધમારીને દરબારગઢમાં ઘોડશાળમાં લાવીને જોગાણ દીધા.
પછી ત્યાં થકી સંચર્યા સ્વામી, બરવાળે ગયા બહુનામી…! હરી સાથે સખા અસવાર, નદી ઉતાવળીની મોઝાર…! જળ ભરતી હતી તહાં નારી, ઘોડાં પાવા રહ્યા ગિરધારી..! વસતાના તનુજ વશરામ, લુવાણા રહે બરવાળે ગામ…! રાધા નામે તેની ઘરનાર, જળ ભરતી હતી તેહ ઠાર..! બીજી સૂતાર ડાહ્યાની માય, જળ ભરતી હતી તેહ ત્યાંય…! બેયે ભાળીયા શ્રીભગવાન, ભૂલી ગૈ તેહ દેહનું ભાન..! નદી તીરે બેડાં મુક્યાં ખાલી, બેય શ્રીજીની પાછળ ચાલી…! ગામ કુંડળ થૈને કૃપાળ, ગઢડે ગયા દીનદયાળ..! બેય બાઇયો ગઢપુર ગઈ, પ્રભુ માંઈ પ્રેમાતુર થઈ…! બેઠા શ્રીજી સભા સજી ત્યાંય, બેઠી બાઇયો બાઇયોમાંય..!
બપોર પછી શ્રીહરિ ગઢપુરમાં દરબારગઢમાં સભા કરીને બીરાજ્યા હતા, સન્મુખ સુરાખાચર, દાદાખાચર, સોમલાખાચર આદિ દરબારો બેઠા હતા. આ વખતે બરવાળાથી પચાસેક કીલોમીટરનો પંથ ચાલીને આ બેઉ બાઇઓ ત્યાં આવીને શ્રીહરિના દર્શન કરીને બાઇઓની સભામાં બેઠી. એ વખતે શ્રીહરિના સખા સુરાબાપુએ શ્રીહરિને પ્રશ્ન પુછ્યો કે “મહારાજ.. ભણું, અમે જ્યારે આ ભટ્ટડાની પોથીમાં ભાગવત સાંભળ્યું તો એમા આવ્યું કે ગોપીયું શ્રીકૃષ્ણભગવાનની વેણુંનાદ સાંભળતા પોતાના પુત્ર-પરિવાર મેલી ને હાલીયું’તી, તે હાલમાં કળજુગ માં એવા કોઇ ભકતો હશે કે ? ત્યારે શ્રીહરિ હસ્યા ને બોલ્યા કે “સુરાબાપું, એવા ભકતો તો આપણી આજની સભામાં જ છે.” એમ કહીને બંને બાઇઓને બોલાવીને પોતાના નામ ઠામ પુછ્યા ત્યારે તેઓ કહે કે “હે મહારાજ, તમે અમારા બરવાળાની ઉતાવળી નદીએ ઘોડાને પાણી પાવા આવ્યા, ત્યારે અમે તમારા દર્શન કર્યા ને પાણીના બેડાં ત્યા નદી કાઠે મેલીને જ તમ પાછળ આજે ગઢપુર હાલી આવીયું.” તે સુણીને શ્રીહરિ બોલ્યા કે “રાધાબાઇ, તમારે તો ત્રણ નાની દીકરીનું છે, એનું ધ્યાન કોણ રાખશે? એમાય એક તો પાંચ મહીનાની છે, એ તો બચારી રોઇ મરશે..!” ત્યારે રાધાબાઇ શ્રીહરિને પ્રણામ કરીને બોલ્યા કે મહારાજ, એ તો જેણે ગર્ભમાં રક્ષા કરી એજ એનું રક્ષણ કરશે ને..! તમે જ સર્વ કર્તાહર્તા છો તો અમે હવે શીદને ચિંતા રાખીએ, તમે હવે માથાથી મોંઘા મળ્યા છોવ તો લોક-ઘરબારની શા સારું ચિંતા કરીએ..!“ ત્યારે શ્રીહરિ કહે કે તમે અમને જો ઇષ્ટદેવ માનતા હોવ તો અમારી આજ્ઞા છે કે તમે પાછા ઘરે જાઓ..! એ સુણીને બેઉ બાઇઓ ગદગદ કંઠે સ્તુતિ કરતા બોલી કે હે પ્રભુ, જળ વગર મીન કેમ જીવે, એમ તમારા નિત્ય દર્શન વીના અમે હવે સંસાર માં કેમ રહીશું ? માટે અમને હવે કૃપા કરીને તમારા ચરણે જ રાખો. શ્રીહરિની કૃપાએ એજ ઘડીથી બેઉ બાઇઓને મુર્તિના અનાવરણ દ્રષ્ટિએ અખંડ દર્શન થવા લાગ્યા, પછી, શ્રીહરિ એ એમને ઘરે જવા સમજાવ્યા અને વેલડું જોડાવીને બરવાળા પોતાને ગામ પરત મુકવા સારું પાર્ષદો ને આજ્ઞા કરી. સૂરા ખાચરે ત્યાં પુછ્યો પ્રશ્ન અહો સાંભળો હે હરિકૃષ્ણ…! ભાગવત અમે સાંભળ્યું જ્યારે, ઉપજ્યું અતિ અચરજ ત્યારે..! ગોપિકાઓનો પ્રેમ અપાર, તજ્યા પુત્ર અને પરિવાર…! ભુલી દેહ તણું પણ ભાન, તેને લાગ્યું શ્રીકૃષ્ણથી તાન..! હશે આજે કોઈ બાઈ એવી, કહિયે જેને ગોપિકા જેવી…! સુણિ ઉચ્ચર્યા અંતરજામી, સરવેશ્વર સર્વજ્ઞ સ્વામી..! ગોપીયોથી જેની અધિકાઈ, એવી બાઇયો છે આજ ભાઈ…! કહિ એમ કૃપા દૃષ્ટિ ધરી, બેય બાઈયોને ઉભી કરી..! પુછ્યાં તેઓનાં ગામ ને નામ, પુછ્યું આવ્યા તણું અહિં કામ…! કહિ બાઈયોએ બધિ વાત, કહ્યાં નામ ને નાત ને જાત..! ભાળ્યા તમને અમે ભગવાન, તથિ ભૂલિ ગયાં તન ભાન…! બેડાં મૂક્યાં નદી તણે તીર, આવ્યાં નિર્ખવા શ્યામ શરીર..! કહે રાધાને શ્રીહરિ ત્યારે, ત્રણ બાળકિયો છે તમારે… પાંચ માસનિ તે રોઇ મરશે, કોણ રક્ષણ તેહનું કરશે? સુણિ બોલિયાં તે રાધાબાઈ, તમે રક્ષા કરી ગર્ભમાંઈ..! તમે માથા થકી પ્રભુ મોંઘા, પ્રાણ સાટે મળો તોય સોંઘા…! ત્યારે બોલ્યા હરિ તતખેવ, મને જો સમજો ઇષ્ટદેવ..! મારી આજ્ઞાનો ભંગ ન કરો, નિજ ઘેર તમે પરવરો…! સુણિ નેણમાં આવિયાં પાણી, બોલ્યાં ગદ્ગદ કંઠથી વાણી..! વિના જળ મત્સ્ય જીવે ન જેમ, અમે તમ વિના જીવિયે કેમ? પછી મૂર્તિ આગળ જ્યારે થઈ, ત્યારે બાઇયો બરવાળે ગઈ..! સુરાભક્ત આદી જન તેહ, અતિ આશ્ચર્ય પામિયા એહ..!

बरवाला की राधाबाई और डाह्या की माँ का प्रसंग
एक समय श्रीहरि ढोलका से सभी काठी दरबारों के साथ अश्वारूढ़ होकर निकले और बरवाला गाँव पहुँचे। वहाँ उतावली नदी पर घोड़ों को पानी पिलाने हेतु सभी सवारों के साथ रुके। उतावली नदी के निर्मल जल में श्रीहरि तथा उनके साथ के दरबारों ने माणकी घोड़ी और अन्य अश्वों को जल पिलाया, फिर हाथ-मुख आदि धोकर नदी के बालूका तट पर थोड़ी देर विश्राम करने रुके। उसी समय गाँव के वस्ताभाई लुहाणा के पुत्र वशराम की पत्नी राधाबाई तथा डाह्या सुथार (बढ़ई) की माँ दोनों नदी पर जल भरने आई थीं। नदी से जल की गागरें भरकर लौटते समय उन्हें श्रीहरि की परम मनोहर मूर्ति के दिव्य दर्शन हुए। दोनों के चित्त श्रीहरि के स्वरूप में ऐसे तन्मय हो गए कि वे अपनी सुध-बुध (देहभान) ही भूल गईं। थोड़ी देर विश्राम करने के पश्चात् श्रीहरि तो माणकी पर सवार होकर सभी दरबारों के साथ कुंडल होते हुए गढ़पुर (गढ़ड़ा) की ओर प्रस्थान कर गए। परंतु इन दोनों माताओं का मन श्रीहरि की मूर्ति में इतना लीन हो चुका था कि वे जल से भरे घड़े वहीं नदी किनारे रखकर पैदल ही गढ़पुर के मार्ग पर चल पड़ीं।
बरवाला से कुंडल होते हुए लगभग पचास किलोमीटर का दुर्गम मार्ग तय करके श्रीहरि गढ़पुर पधारे। दरबारगढ़ में श्रीहरि का भव्य सामैया (स्वागत) हुआ और लाडूबा-जीवूबा ने श्रीहरि तथा साथ आए समस्त दरबारों के लिए विविध प्रकार के स्वादिष्ट थाल तैयार करके उन्हें जिमाया। नाजा जोगिया ने माणकी और अन्य घोड़ों को घेला नदी में नहलाकर दरबारगढ़ की अश्वशाला में लाकर चारा-दाना (जोगाण) दिया।
दोपहर के बाद श्रीहरि दरबारगढ़ में सभा सजाकर विराजमान हुए। उनके सम्मुख सूरा खाचर, दादा खाचर, सोमला खाचर आदि प्रमुख दरबार बैठे थे। उसी समय बरवाला से पचास किलोमीटर पैदल चलकर आईं ये दोनों देवियाँ भी वहाँ पहुँचीं और श्रीहरि के दर्शन कर महिलाओं की सभा में बैठ गईं। उस समय श्रीहरि के प्रिय सखा सूरा खाचर ने पूछा, “हे महाराज! जब हमने व्यासजी की पोथी से श्रीमद्भागवत सुना, तो उसमें आया कि श्रीकृष्ण की वेणु का नाद सुनते ही गोपियाँ अपने पुत्र, पति और परिवार को छोड़कर दौड़ी चली आई थीं। क्या आज इस कलियुग में भी कोई ऐसे अनन्य भक्त हो सकते हैं?” यह सुनकर श्रीहरि मुस्कुराए और बोले, “सूरा बापू! ऐसे अनन्य भक्त तो हमारी आज की इस सभा में ही उपस्थित हैं!” इतना कहकर महाराज ने उन दोनों महिलाओं को बुलवाकर उनका नाम-ठाम पूछा। तब उन्होंने विनीत भाव से कहा, “हे महाराज! जब आप हमारे बरवाला की उतावली नदी पर घोड़ों को जल पिलाने पधारे थे, तब हमें आपके दर्शन हुए। हम पानी की गागरें वहीं नदी किनारे छोड़कर आज आपके पीछे-पीछे पैदल ही गढ़पुर चली आई हैं।” यह सुनकर श्रीहरि ने कहा, “राधाबाई! आपकी तो तीन छोटी-छोटी बेटियाँ हैं, उनकी देखरेख कौन करेगा? उनमें से एक तो मात्र पाँच महीने की दुधमुँही बच्ची है, वह तो रो-रोकर बेहाल हो जाएगी!” तब राधाबाई ने श्रीहरि को हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम करते हुए कहा, “हे महाराज! जिसने गर्भ में उसकी रक्षा की है, वही बाहर भी उसकी रक्षा करेगा! जब आप ही सर्व कर्ता-हर्ता हैं, तो फिर हम किस बात की चिंता करें? आप हमें सिर से भी अधिक अमूल्य मिले हैं, तो अब हम लोक-लाज और घर-बार की चिंता क्यों करें!” तब श्रीहरि ने कहा, “यदि आप हमें अपना इष्टदेव मानती हैं, तो हमारी आज्ञा है कि आप तुरंत अपने घर लौट जाएँ!” यह सुनकर दोनों माताओं के नेत्रों में अश्रु छलक आए और वे गद्गद कंठ से प्रार्थना करने लगीं, “हे प्रभु! जैसे जल के बिना मछली जीवित नहीं रह सकती, वैसे ही आपके नित्य दर्शन के बिना हम इस संसार में कैसे जी पाएँगी? अतः कृपा करके हमें अपने चरणों में ही रखिए।” श्रीहरि की असीम कृपा से उसी क्षण दोनों माताओं को श्रीजी महाराज की मूर्ति के अखंड अनावरण (दिव्य) दर्शन होने लगे। तत्पश्चात् श्रीहरि ने उन्हें घर लौटने के लिए समझाया और एक बैलगाड़ी जुतवाकर पार्षदों को उन्हें सकुशल बरवाला पहुँचाने की आज्ञा दी। राधाबाई और डाह्या की माँ की ऐसी अलौकिक प्रीति देखकर सूरा खाचर आदि सभी भक्तगण अत्यंत विस्मित हो गए।

The Episode of Radhabai and Dahya’s Mother from Barwala
Once, Shri Hari set out on horseback from Dholka accompanied by Kathi Darbars and arrived at the village of Barwala. They halted on the banks of the Utavali River to water their horses. In the flowing waters of the Utavali, Shri Hari and the Darbars offered water to Manki and the other horses, washed their hands and faces, and rested for a brief while on the sandy riverbank. At that time, Radhabai, the daughter-in-law of Vastabhai Luhana (wife of Vashram), and the mother of Dahya the carpenter (Suthar) had both come to the river to fetch water. As they filled their brass pots (hel) and turned to leave, they were blessed with the divine darshan of Shri Hari’s enchanting form. Their minds became so captivated by His divine beauty that they completely lost all bodily awareness (dehbhaan). After resting a while, Shri Hari mounted Manki and, accompanied by the Darbars, rode toward Gadhpur via Kundal. However, having offered their hearts entirely to Shri Hari’s murti, both women left their water pots behind on the riverbank and set out on foot toward Gadhpur following His trail.
Traversing a distance of about fifty kilometers from Barwala through Kundal, Shri Hari arrived in Gadhpur. A grand welcoming procession (samaiyu) was held at the Darbargadh, where Laduba and Jivuba prepared a variety of sumptuous dishes and served thaal to Shri Hari and all the accompanying Darbars. Naja Jogiya took Manki and the other horses to the Ghela River to bathe them, then led them to the Darbargadh stables and provided them with fodder.
In the afternoon, Shri Hari presided over an assembly in the Darbargadh, surrounded by prominent Darbars including Sura Khachar, Dada Khachar, and Somla Khachar. Having walked fifty kilometers on foot from Barwala, the two devoted women arrived, had darshan of Shri Hari, and took their seats in the women’s assembly. At that juncture, Shri Hari’s close companion Sura Khachar asked, “O Maharaj! When we listened to the Shrimad Bhagavatam narrated by the Brahmins, we heard how the Gopis abandoned their homes, children, and families the moment they heard the divine sound of Shri Krishna’s flute. Could such singular devotees exist in this current age of Kaliyuga?” Shri Hari smiled and replied, “Sura Bapu, such devoted souls are present right here in our assembly today!” Calling both women forward, Maharaj inquired about their names and where they had come from. They devoutly answered, “O Maharaj! When You came to water Your horses at the Utavali River in our village of Barwala, we had Your divine darshan. Leaving our water pots right there on the riverbank, we have walked all the way to Gadhpur behind You today.” Hearing this, Shri Hari said, “Radhabai, you have three young daughters; who will care for them? One of them is merely a five-month-old infant; the poor child will cry uncontrollably!” Radhabai bowed to Shri Hari and answered with resolute faith, “O Maharaj! He who protected her in the womb will surely protect her now! When You alone are the ultimate doer of all things (Sarva Karta-Harta), why should we worry? Now that we have attained You, who are dearer than life itself, why should we be anxious about family or worldly affairs?” Shri Hari then instructed them, “If you truly regard Me as your Ishtadev, it is My command that you return home!” Hearing His command, tears welled in the eyes of both women, and with choked voices they pleaded, “O Lord! Just as a fish cannot survive without water, how can we live in this worldly existence without Your daily darshan? Please graciously let us stay at Your lotus feet.” By Shri Hari’s boundless grace, at that very moment, both women were blessed with the continuous, unceasing divine vision (anavaran darshan) of His murti within their hearts. Shri Hari then lovingly persuaded them to return home and arranged an ox-cart (veldu) along with parshads to escort them safely back to Barwala. Witnessing such unprecedented devotion, Sura Khachar and all the assembled devotees were filled with profound awe.
