અમદાવાદના નવા વાસમાં બિરાજતા શ્રીહરિને તેડવા શેઠ મોહનલાલનો સુવર્ણ રથ, પંચપોળમાં ભવ્ય લગ્નમંડપમાં પધરામણી અને મનુષ્યજીવનના સાચા કર્તવ્યનો અમૃત ઉપદેશ.
એક સમયે શ્રીહરિ અમદાવાદમાં નવા વાસમાં લીંબડાના વૃક્ષ નીચે સભા ભરીને બિરાજમાન હતા. તે સમયે અમદાવાદના પ્રતિષ્ઠિત મોહનલાલ શેઠે પોતાના પુત્રના લગ્ન નિમિત્તે પંચપોળમાં અત્યંત ભવ્ય મંડપ તૈયાર કરાવ્યો હતો, જેમાં અવનવાં રંગબેરંગી વસ્ત્રો, કાચના મોટા અરીસાઓ અને કિંમતી ઝુમ્મરો લગાવેલાં હતાં.
આ ભવ્ય મંડપ જોઈ હરિભક્ત અજુભાઈએ પોતાના મિત્ર શેઠ મોહનલાલને હિતભરી સલાહ આપી: “મોહનલાલ! આપે લગ્નમાં લાખો રૂપિયા ખર્ચી આ અદ્ભુત મંડપ બનાવ્યો છે, પરંતુ જો હાલ આપણા નગરમાં બિરાજતા સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન અહીં પધારે નહીં તો આ તમામ વૈભવ વ્યર્થ છે!” મોહનલાલ શેઠ મુમુક્ષુ હોવાથી બોલ્યા, “અજુભાઈ! આપની વાત સાચી છે, પણ શું પ્રભુ આવા લગ્નપ્રસંગમાં પધારશે?” અજુભાઈએ કહ્યું, “ભગવાન તો કરુણાના સાગર છે, ભાવથી આમંત્રણ આપશો તો જરૂર પધારશે.”
શેઠ મોહનલાલે તુરંત જ પોતાનો સુવર્ણ રથ જોડી અજુભાઈને શ્રીહરિને તેડવા મોકલ્યા. અજુભાઈએ નવા વાસમાં આવી શ્રીહરિના ચરણોમાં વિનંતી કરી. ભક્તવત્સલ શ્રીહરિ સંતો-પાર્ષદો સાથે સુવર્ણ રથમાં બિરાજી પંચપોળ પધાર્યા. મોહનલાલ શેઠે સામૈયું કરી શ્રીહરિને મંડપમાં સુવર્ણ સિંહાસન પર બિરાજમાન કર્યા. શેઠે શ્રીહરિની આરતી ઉતારી, સોનાના ત્રાંસમાં કિંમતી વસ્ત્રો અને રૂપિયાની ભેટ ધરી પોતાના પુત્રને પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં નમાવ્યો.
શ્રીહરિએ સભા સમક્ષ અમૃત ઉપદેશ આપ્યો: “ભરતખંડમાં મનુષ્ય દેહ પામીને જીવનું ખરું કર્તવ્ય એટલું જ છે કે બ્રહ્મનિષ્ઠ સંતો અને પ્રગટ ભગવાનના દર્શન, સન્માન અને મન-કર્મ-વચને સેવા કરવી; એ જ ભવસાગર પાર કરવાનો સાચો ઉપાય છે.” મોહનલાલ શેઠની વિનંતીથી સંતોએ મંગળ આરતી અને નારાયણ ધૂન કરી. શ્રીહરિ શેઠના વિવેક પર રાજી થઈ આશીર્વાદ આપી પુનઃ નવા વાસ પધાર્યા.

एक समय श्रीहरि अहमदाबाद के ‘नवा वास’ में नीम के वृक्ष तले दिव्य सभा में विराजमान थे। उस समय नगर के प्रतिष्ठित श्रेष्ठी मोहनलाल सेठ ने अपने पुत्र के विवाह हेतु पंचपोल में दर्पणों और झाड़-फानूसों से सुसज्जित भव्य मंडप तैयार करवाया था।
हरिभक्त अजुभाई ने अपने मित्र मोहनलाल को समझाया: “सेठजी! आपने इस मंडप पर अपार धन व्यय किया है, किंतु यदि वर्तमान में नगर में पधारे साक्षात् स्वामीनारायण भगवान यहाँ नहीं आए, तो यह समस्त शोभा व्यर्थ है।” मुमुक्षु मोहनलाल ने तुरंत अपना स्वर्ण रथ भेजकर अजुभाई के माध्यम से प्रभु को आमंत्रित किया।
करुणामय श्रीहरि संतों सहित स्वर्ण रथ में आरूढ़ होकर पंचपोल पधारे। मोहनलाल सेठ ने प्रभु को स्वर्ण सिंहासन पर विराजमान कर आरती उतारी और थाल में बहुमूल्य वस्त्र-आभूषण अर्पित किए।
श्रीहरि ने उपदेश दिया: “मनुष्य जन्म का वास्तविक ध्येय साक्षात् परमात्मा और ब्रह्मनिष्ठ संतों का दर्शन, वंदन और निष्काम सेवा करना ही है; इसी से जीव भवसागर पार करता है।” सेठ के अत्यधिक आग्रह पर संतों ने मंगल आरती और नारायण धुन की। प्रभु ने परिवार को शुभाशीष देकर कृतार्थ किया।

Ahmedabad Mohanlal Sheth Golden Chariot Pandal
While residing in the ‘Nava Vaas’ quarters of Ahmedabad, Bhagwan Swaminarayan presided over spiritual assemblies beneath a shade-giving neem tree. At that time, a wealthy city merchant named Mohanlal Sheth had erected an opulent wedding pavilion (mandap) in Panch Pol for his son’s marriage, lavishly adorned with imported tapestries, Venetian mirrors, and sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Beholding this palatial arrangement, devotee Ajubhai offered affectionate counsel to his friend Mohanlal: “Mohanlal! You have expended fortunes creating this splendid pavilion, yet if the manifest Supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan—who currently graces our city—does not sanctify this gathering with His divine feet, all this worldly grandeur remains devoid of true substance!” Pious by disposition, Mohanlal asked, “Ajubhai, would the Supreme Lord condescend to attend a family wedding?” Ajubhai replied, “God is an ocean of mercy; if invited with sincere devotion, He will certainly come.”
Mohanlal immediately dispatched his ceremonial golden chariot with Ajubhai to invite Shreehari. Hearing the humble petition, benevolent Shreehari boarded the golden chariot accompanied by His sadhus and parshads, arriving at Panch Pol. Welcoming the Lord with great fanfare, Mohanlal seated Shreehari upon an ornate golden throne. He performed ceremonial aarti, presented trays laden with gold-embroidered textiles and money, and placed his bridegroom son at Shreehari’s lotus feet.
Addressing the gathering, Shreehari imparted timeless spiritual wisdom: “Having attained this rare human birth in the sacred land of Bharat, a soul’s supreme duty is to seek the darshan of manifest God and God-realized saints, honoring them and serving them with pure thought, word, and deed; that alone is the path across the ocean of worldly existence.” Upon Mohanlal’s prayer, the sadhus performed festive aarti and soul-stirring chanting of the divine name. Pleased with the family’s decorum and humility, Shreehari showered divine blessings before returning to Nava Vaas.
