સ્વામીના વચનથી મુસલમાનોને શ્રીહરિના ખુદા રૂપે દર્શન થયા; કબરો રાતોરાત અન્યત્ર સ્થળાંતરિત થઈ અને હથિયાર લઈને આવેલા લોકો સ્વામિનારાયણ મહામંત્ર જપવા લાગ્યા.
વડોદરા શહેરમાં આવેલા સ્વામિનારાયણ વાડી મંદિરના પાછળના ભાગે સંતોના સ્નાન-શૌચના કૂવા પાસે ચોકડીના પાણીના નિકાલ સારુ નળ મૂકવામાં આવ્યા અને દિવાલ પાસે ખાડો કરીને વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી. મંદિરની પાછળની દિવાલને અડીને મુસલમાનોની વસ્તી હતી. તેમણે આ જોઈને વિરોધ કર્યો, હરિભક્તો સાથે ઝઘડો કરી ગાળો દીધી અને હથિયારો લઈને મારવા દોડ્યા!
બીજે દિવસે દરબારના અધિકારી નારુપંત નાના તથા બાપુસાહેબ બંનેએ જઈને પડોશી મુસલમાનોને ખૂબ સમજાવ્યા, પરંતુ તેઓ ઊલટાના અક્કડ થઈને બોલ્યા: “તમારા મંદિરની દિવાલ હટાવી અંદર ખાડા કરો; આ સરકારી જમીન છે અને અમારું ફળિયું તથા રસ્તો સાંકડો થઈ જશે, માટે અમે ખાડા નહીં કરવા દઈએ!” વાત ગાયકવાડ સરકાર સુધી ગઈ, પરંતુ સરકારે પણ સાધુઓને વિવાદ ટાળવા બીજે વ્યવસ્થા કરવા જણાવ્યું.
મંદિરમાં અન્ય કોઈ સ્થાને જળ નિકાલની જગ્યા ન હોવાથી, સદ્ગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી પાછળની બારી ખોલીને મુસલમાનોના ફળિયામાં પધાર્યા. ત્યાં લીમડાના વૃક્ષ નીચે બેઠેલા પાંચ-સાત મુસ્લિમ અગ્રણીઓએ સ્વામી સામે જોયું, તો તેમને ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી એક પરમ તેજોમય દિવ્ય ‘પયગંબર’ (અલ્લાહના દૂત/નૂરી ફરિશ્તા) રૂપે દેખાયા! આ અદ્ભુત દિવ્યતા જોઈ તેઓ તત્ક્ષણ કુરઆનના કલમા અને સ્તુતિઓ પઢવા લાગ્યા અને હાથ જોડી બોલ્યા: “હઝરત! આપ જેમ કહેશો તેમ અમે કરીશું; આપની ઇચ્છા મુજબ અમે જીવીશું!”
ત્યારે ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીએ વચન કહ્યું: “જુઓ, આજે રાત્રે તમને સાક્ષાત્ ખુદાના દર્શન થશે, અને એ ખુદા સ્વયં ભગવાન શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણ છે! હું તો તેમનો નૂરી ફરિશ્તો સાધુ છું. પ્રભુ જે આજ્ઞા કરે તેનું પાલન કરજો.”
તે જ રાત્રે તે સર્વે મુસલમાનોને ઊંડી સમાધિ થઈ! સમાધિમાં સાક્ષાત્ શ્રીહરિએ પરમ દિવ્ય પયગંબર રૂપે દર્શન આપ્યાં અને ઉપદેશ કર્યો: “તમે ક્યારેય કોઈ જીવહિંસા કરશો નહીં; અમારા સંતો-હરિભક્તોનો પક્ષ રાખજો અને અમારા નામની માળા ફેરવજો. તમને અમારાં સાક્ષાત્ દર્શન થયાં છે તેથી તમારે ક્યારેય નરકમાં જવું નહીં પડે! આ ત્રણ હાથ જેટલી સાંકડી જગ્યા આજે રાત્રિ દરમિયાન ચમત્કારિક રીતે ત્રીસ હાથ પહોળી થઈ જશે, છતાં લીમડાનું ઝાડ અને મંદિરની દિવાલ યથાવત્ રહેશે. આ જગ્યા પર પૂર્વે ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ રુક્મિણીજીનું હરણ કરીને આવ્યા ત્યારે રથ રોકીને મુકામ કરેલો, તેથી આ મહાપવિત્ર ભૂમિ છે! આજથી ચાલીસ વર્ષ પછી અહીં અમારા શ્રીલક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવનું ભવ્ય પથ્થરનું મંદિર રચાશે. અને અહીં આંગણામાં રહેલી ચાર કબરો આજે રાતોરાત ગંજખાના દરવાજા બહારના કબરસ્તાનમાં આપોઆપ સ્થળાંતરિત થઈ જશે!”
સમાધિમાંથી જાગીને મુસલમાનોએ જોયું તો તેમનું ફળિયું ચારે બાજુથી અદ્ભુત રીતે વિશાળ થઈ ગયું હતું અને કબરો ગાયબ થઈ ગઈ હતી! આ પરચો જોઈ તેઓ આનંદવિભોર થઈને ‘સ્વામિનારાયણ… સ્વામિનારાયણ…’ મહામંત્રની ધૂન ગાવા લાગ્યા!
સવારે આ ચમત્કાર જોવા આખું વડોદરા ઊમટી પડ્યું. સૌ કોઈ ભગવાન શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણનો પ્રતાપ અને ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામીની દિવ્ય શક્તિના ગુણગાન ગાવા લાગ્યા. જે લોકો હથિયાર લઈને મારવા દોડ્યા હતા, તેઓ સરકારી નોકરીઓ છોડી હાથમાં તુલસીની માળા લઈ સત્સંગના અનન્ય રક્ષક બની ગયા!

वडोदरा नगर में स्थित स्वामीनारायण वाड़ी मंदिर के पिछले भाग में संतों के स्नान के कुएं के समीप जल-निकासी हेतु नल लगाए गए और दीवार के पास गड्ढा करके व्यवस्था की गई। मंदिर की दीवार के पीछे मुस्लिम बस्ती थी। उन्होंने इसका विरोध किया, हरिभक्तों से झगड़ा कर गालियां दीं और हथियार लेकर मारने दौड़े!
अगले दिन राज्य के उच्च अधिकारी नारूपंत नाना तथा बापूसाहेब ने जाकर उन्हें बहुत समझाया, किंतु वे हठपूर्वक बोले: “मंदिर की दीवार पीछे हटाकर भीतर गड्ढे करो; यह सरकारी भूमि है और हमारा मार्ग संकरा हो जाएगा, अतः हम कार्य नहीं करने देंगे!” बात गायकवाड़ सरकार तक पहुंची, किंतु सरकार ने भी साधुओं को विवाद से बचने की सलाह दी।
अन्यत्र कोई स्थान न होने के कारण, सद्गुरु गोपालानंद स्वामी पीछे की खिड़की खोलकर सीधे उनके आंगन में पधारे। वहां नीम के वृक्ष के नीचे बैठे मुस्लिम नागरिकों ने जब स्वामी को देखा, तो उन्हें स्वामी एक परम तेजस्वी दिव्य ‘पैगंबर’ (नूरी फरिश्ते) के रूप में दिखाई दिए! इस अलौकिक छवि को देखकर वे कुरआन की आयतें पढ़ने लगे और करबद्ध होकर बोले: “हजरत! आप जैसा कहेंगे हम वैसा ही करेंगे!”
तब गोपालानंद स्वामी ने कहा: “आज रात तुम्हें साक्षात खुदा के दर्शन होंगे, और वे खुदा स्वयं भगवान श्रीस्वामीनारायण हैं! मैं उनका नूरी फरिश्ता साधु हूं। वे जो कहें, वैसा करना।”
उसी रात्रि उन सभी को गहरी समाधि हो गई! समाधि में साक्षात श्रीहरि ने दिव्य पैगंबर रूप में दर्शन दिए और उपदेश दिया: “तुम कभी जीवहिंसा मत करना; हमारे संतों-भक्तों की रक्षा करना और हमारे नाम का सुमिरन करना। तुम्हें हमारे दर्शन हुए हैं अतः तुम्हें नरक नहीं जाना पड़ेगा। यह तीन हाथ संकरा स्थान आज रात तीस हाथ चौड़ा हो जाएगा, किंतु नीम का वृक्ष और दीवार यथावत रहेंगे। पूर्वकाल में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण रुक्मिणी हरण के समय यहां रथ रोककर ठहरे थे, अतः यह परम पवित्र भूमि है! आज से चालीस वर्ष पश्चात यहां लक्ष्मीनारायण देव का विशाल पाषाण मंदिर बनेगा। और यहां स्थित चारों कब्रें आज रात गंजखाना द्वार के बाहर कब्रिस्तान में स्थानांतरित हो जाएंगी!”
समाधि से जागने पर उन्होंने देखा कि आंगन वास्तव में अत्यंत विशाल हो चुका था और कब्रें वहां से लुप्त हो चुकी थीं! यह देखकर वे भावविभोर होकर ‘स्वामीनारायण… स्वामीनारायण…’ का कीर्तन करने लगे!
प्रातः यह चमत्कार देखकर पूरा वडोदरा नगर चकित रह गया। जो लोग हथियार लेकर मारने आए थे, वे सांसारिक कार्य छोड़कर हाथों में माला फेरते हुए सत्संग के अनन्य रक्षक बन गए!

Gopalanand Swami Appears as a Divine Prophet at Vadodara’s Vadi Mandir, Samadhi of Local Muslims, and Miraculous Land Expansion
At the Swaminarayan Vadi Mandir in the city of Vadodara, drainage outlets were installed near the ascetics’ bathing well to channel wastewater into disposal pits along the temple’s rear wall. Directly behind this boundary wall lay a settlement of local Muslims. Witnessing the construction, they created a fierce altercation, hurled abuses at devotees, and rushed with deadly weapons to attack them!
The following day, prominent royal officials Narupant Nana and Bapu Saheb met with the residents to pacify them; however, the residents obstinately demanded: “Pull back your temple wall and dig inside your grounds; this is public land and our alleyway will become obstructed!” The dispute reached Maharaja Gaekwad’s administration, which cautiously advised the ascetics to avoid communal tension by finding alternative arrangements.
Finding no alternative drainage route within the compound, Sadguru Gopalanand Swami opened the rear window and stepped into their courtyard. Five to seven prominent Muslim elders seated under a neem tree looked up; to their transcendental astonishment, they beheld Gopalanand Swami in the glorious, radiant form of a divine Prophet (Paigambar / celestial Angel)! Awe-stricken, they began reciting verses from the Holy Quran, bowed in deep humility, and exclaimed: “O revered Hazrat! We shall faithfully abide by whatever you decree!”
Gopalanand Swami proclaimed: “Behold, tonight you shall be blessed with the divine vision of Khuda Himself, and that Supreme Lord is none other than Bhagwan Swaminarayan! I am merely His radiant angel-monk. Act according to His supreme divine commandments!”
That very night, all of them were plunged into deep samadhi! In that transcendental vision, Bhagwan Swaminarayan manifested before them as the supreme divine Prophet, instructing: “Never commit violence against any living creature; safeguard Our holy ascetics and devotees, and chant Our sacred name upon rosaries. Having received Our divine darshan, you shall never enter the gates of hell! This narrow alley of three cubits shall miraculously expand thirty cubits wide tonight, yet the neem tree and temple wall shall remain undisturbed. In ancient times, Lord Shree Krishna rested His chariot here after carrying away Queen Rukmini, sanctifying this earth! Forty years from now, a magnificent stone temple of Shree Laxminarayan Dev shall arise here. Furthermore, the four graves in this yard shall miraculously relocate to the cemetery outside Ganjkhana Gate tonight!”
Awakening from samadhi, the residents were stunned to discover their courtyard miraculously broadened into an expansive open square, while the graves had completely vanished! Overwhelmed with devotional joy, they spontaneously chanted the holy name: “Swaminarayan… Swaminarayan…!”
The following morning, citizens across Vadodara flocked to witness the miraculous transformation. Those who had brandished weapons to kill the devotees laid down their arms, donned sacred rosaries, and became steadfast lifelong guardians of the Swaminarayan Satsang!
