સદગુરૂ બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી શ્રીહરિની આજ્ઞાએ વડતાલનું મંદિર બંધાવતા હતા. મંદિરનું બાંધકામ જોર-શોરથી ચાલતું હતું.

વડતાલ મંદિરની ડબલ કમાન અને બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામીની શિલ્પકળા
સદગુરૂ બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી શ્રીહરિની આજ્ઞાએ વડતાલનું મંદિર બંધાવતા હતા. મંદિરનું બાંધકામ જોર-શોરથી ચાલતું હતું. એકદિવસ સ્વામી વડતાલ મંદિરના સ્તંભો, કમાનો અને રૂપચોકીઓનું નિરિક્ષણ કરતા કરતા મુખ્યદ્વારની રૂપચોકી આવી ત્યાં આવ્યા. બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામીએ કારીગરોને બોલાવીને કહ્યુ કે “દરેક કમાનોમાં કોતરણી છે, આહી મુખ્યદ્વાર હોવાથી ચોકીમાં ડબલ કમાન કરીને કોતરણી કરવી જોઇએ.” કારીગરો સ્વામીને કહે કે “સ્વામી, આપણા હિન્દુઓના બધાય મોટા મોટા મંદિરોના મુખ્યદ્વારોમાં એકજ કમાનો કોતરાય છે, ક્યાયે ડબલ કમાન હજુ સુધી જોઇ જ નથી, તેથી અમે આહી પણ એમજ કમાન કોતરી છે.
બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી હસ્યા અને બોલ્યા કે જુઓ, તમે રાજવલ્લભ અને પ્રસાદમંડન વગેરે શીલ્પકલાના ગ્રંથો ભણ્યા છો? ત્યારે કારીગરો તો વિસ્મય થી સ્વામી સામું જોઇ રહ્યા અને બોલ્યા કે ‘સ્વામી, અમે તો એવા ગ્રથો કાંય ભણ્યા નથી, અમે તો જુના મંદિરોને જોઇને કોતરણી કામ વગેરે કરીએ છીએ..!’ એ સાંભળી સ્વામીએ તુરંતજ એક કાગળ મંગાવીને તે કાગળ ઉપર પોતાને હાથે જ મુખ્યદ્વારની રૂપચોકીની ડબલ કમાનનું ચિત્ર દોરીને શિલ્પકળાના નિયમ મુજબ કમાનની કોતરણી કરવા કહ્યું કે “આવી ડબલ કમાન તથા સ્તંભ તેના શરાભરણામાં હવે તમે તમારી કોતરણીની કારીગરી આળેખીને નકશો કરીને તેના ફરમા કાપીને ઘડાઇ શરુ કરો..! તમે ભલે આવી ઘડાઇ ભલે ક્યાંય કરેલ ન હોય, પરંતુ જો મારો દોરેલો આ નકશો જોઇને તમે ઘડાઇ કરશો એટલે ભગવાન શ્રીહરિના પ્રતાપે તમને એ આવડશે એવો મારો આશીર્વાદ છે.” સર્વે શીલ્પકારોએ સ્વામીના ચરણસ્પર્શ કરીને ડબલકમાન ની કોતરણી કરવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો. થોડાદિવસમાં સ્વામીના આશીર્વાદે શીલ્પકારોએ એ ડબલકમાન ઘડીને તૈયાર કરીને મુખ્યદ્વારની રૂપચોકીમાં લગાવી જે અતિ સુંદર લાગતી હતી. સ્વામી, સર્વ શીલ્પકારો ઉપર અતિ રાજી થયા ને સર્વે ને રૂડા આશીર્વાદ આપ્યા. સમયજતા જયારે વૈરાગ્યમુર્તિ શ્રી નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામી ધોલેરામાં મદનમોહનજી મહારાજનું મંદિરનું બાંધકામ કરાવતા હતા ત્યારે એણે વડતાલ આવીને તે કમાનનો નકશો દોરીને ધોલેરા મંદિરના મુખ્યદ્વારમાં એવી જ કમાન શીલ્પકારો પાસે બનાવરાવી હતી, જે હાલ વડતાલ અને ધોલેરાનાં મંદિરોમાં તે કમાનો હાલ પણ મોજુદ છે અને સદગુરુ બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી અને સદગુરુ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીની શીલ્પકળાની અદ્વિતિય સૂઝના દર્શન થાય છે.

वड़ताल मंदिर की दोहरी कमान और ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी की शिल्पकला
सद्गुरु ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी श्रीहरि की आज्ञा से वड़ताल मंदिर का निर्माण करा रहे थे। मंदिर का निर्माण कार्य पूरे ज़ोर-शोर से चल रहा था। एक दिन स्वामी वड़ताल मंदिर के स्तंभों, कमानों (मेहराबों) और रूपचौकियों का निरीक्षण करते-करते मुख्यद्वार की रूपचौकी के पास पहुँचे। ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी ने कारीगरों को बुलाकर कहा, “प्रत्येक कमान में नक्काशी की गई है, किंतु यहाँ मुख्यद्वार होने के कारण इस चौकी में दोहरी कमान (डबल आर्क) बनाकर नक्काशी की जानी चाहिए।”
कारीगरों ने स्वामी से विनम्रतापूर्वक कहा, “स्वामी! हमारे हिंदू धर्म के जितने भी बड़े-बड़े भव्य मंदिर हैं, उनके मुख्यद्वारों पर केवल एकल कमान (एक ही मेहराब) ही बनाई जाती है। हमने आज तक कहीं भी दोहरी कमान नहीं देखी है, इसीलिए हमने यहाँ भी वैसी ही एकल कमान तराशी है।”
यह सुनकर ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी मुस्कुराए और बोले, “क्या आपने ‘राजवल्लभ’ और ‘प्रसादमंडन’ जैसे प्राचीन शिल्पशास्त्र के ग्रंथों का अध्ययन किया है?”
यह सुनकर सभी कारीगर आश्चर्यचकित होकर स्वामी की ओर देखने लगे और बोले, “स्वामी! हमने तो ऐसे ग्रंथ कभी पढ़े ही नहीं हैं; हम तो प्राचीन मंदिरों की रचना देखकर ही नक्काशी और तराशने का कार्य करते हैं!”
यह सुनकर स्वामी ने तुरंत कागज़ मँगवाया और उस कागज़ पर अपने हाथों से ही मुख्यद्वार की रूपचौकी की दोहरी कमान का सटीक रेखाचित्र बना दिया। फिर शिल्पशास्त्र के नियमों के अनुसार कमान तराशने का निर्देश देते हुए कहा, “ऐसी दोहरी कमान तथा उसके स्तंभों के शराभरणों में अपनी नक्काशी की कला उकेरें, इसका पूरा नक्शा तैयार करें, उसके सांचे (फ़रमे) काटकर तराशने का कार्य आरंभ करें! भले ही आपने पहले कभी ऐसा काम न किया हो, किंतु यदि आप मेरे बनाए इस नक्शे को देखकर तराशेंगे, तो पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान श्रीहरि के प्रताप और कृपा से आप इसमें अवश्य निपुण होंगे—यह मेरा आशीर्वाद है!”
सभी शिल्पकारों ने सद्गुरु स्वामी के चरणस्पर्श किए और दोहरी कमान तराशने का निश्चय किया।
कुछ ही दिनों में स्वामी के दिव्य आशीर्वाद से शिल्पकारों ने वह अद्भुत दोहरी कमान तराशकर तैयार कर दी और मुख्यद्वार की रूपचौकी में स्थापित कर दी, जो देखने में अत्यंत भव्य और नयनाभिराम लग रही थी। सद्गुरु ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी सभी शिल्पकारों पर अति प्रसन्न हुए और उन्हें हृदय से शुभ आशीर्वाद प्रदान किए।
कालांतर में जब वैराग्यमूर्ति सद्गुरु श्री निष्कुलानंद स्वामी धोलेरा में श्री मदनमोहनजी महाराज के मंदिर का निर्माण करवा रहे थे, तब वे वड़ताल पधारे। उन्होंने इस दोहरी कमान का नक्शा बनाकर धोलेरा मंदिर के मुख्यद्वार पर भी शिल्पकारों से वैसी ही भव्य दोहरी कमान बनवाई। आज भी वड़ताल और धोलेरा के मंदिरों में वे ऐतिहासिक कमानें विद्यमान हैं, जो सद्गुरु ब्रह्मानंद स्वामी और सद्गुरु निष्कुलानंद स्वामी की अप्रतिम शिल्पकला और अद्वितीय सूझबूझ का जीवंत दर्शन कराती हैं।

The Double Arch of Vadtal Mandir and Brahmanand Swami’s Architectural Mastery
By the divine command of Shri Hari, Sadguru Brahmanand Swami was overseeing the construction of the grand Vadtal Mandir. The temple construction was progressing in full swing. One day, while inspecting the pillars, arches, and ornamental porticos (rupchoki) of the temple, Swami arrived at the portico of the main entrance. Brahmanand Swami summoned the sculptors and artisans, instructing them, “Carvings adorn all the arches, but since this is the main gateway, we should sculpt a double arch with intricate carvings in this portico.”
The artisans humbly submitted, “Swami, across all the grand Hindu temples, only a single arch is carved at the main entrances. We have never seen a double arch anywhere, and that is why we have carved a single arch here as well.”
Brahmanand Swami smiled and asked, “Have you studied the ancient classical scriptures of temple architecture, such as Rajvallabh and Prasadmandan?”
The artisans looked at Swami in astonishment and replied, “Swami, we have never studied such sacred scriptures! We simply observe older temples and execute our carving and stonework accordingly.”
Upon hearing this, Swami immediately called for paper and, with his own hands, sketched a precise architectural drawing of the double arch for the main entrance portico. Instructing them to carve the arch according to the classical principles of shilpa shastra, Swami said, “Now, craft your intricate carvings upon this double arch and the ornamental embellishments of its pillars. Prepare the drawings, cut the stencils, and begin carving! Even though you have never crafted such work before, if you follow this blueprint drawn by me, by the divine grace and power of Bhagwan Shri Hari, you will master it effortlessly—this is my blessing upon you.”
All the artisans touched Swami’s lotus feet with deep reverence and resolved to carve the double arch.
Within a few days, blessed by Swami’s grace, the sculptors finished carving the magnificent double arch and installed it at the main entrance portico. It looked extraordinarily beautiful and majestic. Sadguru Brahmanand Swami was immensely pleased with all the artisans and showered them with heartfelt divine blessings.
Later, when Vairagyamurti Sadguru Shri Nishkulanand Swami was supervising the construction of the temple of Shri Madanmohanji Maharaj in Dholera, he came to Vadtal, drew the blueprint of this unique arch, and had the artisans construct an identical double arch at the main entrance of Dholera Mandir. To this day, these splendid arches stand in the mandirs of Vadtal and Dholera, bearing eternal testimony to the unparalleled architectural genius and divine vision of Sadguru Brahmanand Swami and Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami.
