દોરાના જીજીભાઇ પટેલ અને કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીના આશીર્વાદ
ભરુચ જીલ્લા મા મુકતરાજ દિનાનાથ ભટ્ટના ગામ આમોદ પાસે દોરા નામે ગામ આવેલું છે. આ દોરા ગામમાં સદગુરુ કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીના યોગે જીજીભાઈ પટેલ, કાશીરામભાઇ બ્રાહ્મણ, નાગારદાસભાઈ પટેલ વગેરેને સત્સંગ થયેલો. જીજીભાઈ પટેલનુ તો પૃારબ્ધ જ કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીના વચને બદલી ગયું હતું !
જીજીભાઈ સાવ નાના બાળક હતા ત્યારે તેમના માતા પિતા મૃત્યુ પામતા અને કોઈ સગા-કુટુંબનો પણ સાથ ન હોવાથી અનાથ સ્થિતિના થઇ ગયા હતા, તેમને પોતાના ગામની પણ ખબર નહોતી ! જ્યા કોઈ ખાવા આપે ત્યાં રહેતા ને ઓટલો મળે ત્યાં સુઈ રહેતા ! અનાથ પરંતુ તરવરીયા બાળક જીજીભાઈ જ્યાં જાય ત્યાં ખુબ ઉત્સાહથી જે સોંપે તે કામ કરવા લાગતા. આ અનાથ બાળક જીજીભાઈ આવી રીતે કોઈ ગામમાં હતા ત્યારે મહાસમર્થ ને વચનસીદ્ધ સંત એવા સદગુરુ કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીનું સંત મંડળ તે ગામમાં આવ્યું હતું, તે ગામના આગેવાનોના કહેવાથી આ નાનો બાળક જીજીભાઈ સંતોની સેવામાં જોડાઈ ગયો ! સંતો જે કહે તે નાની મોટી સેવાઓ ખુબ જ ઉત્સાહથી કરવા લાગ્યો, નાના બાળકની આવી સેવા અને નિર્દોષતા જોઈને જીજીભાઈને કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીએ એકવખત “આવો જીજીભાઈ પટેલ ! ” એવા સંબોધનથી બોલાવ્યા, આ સાંભળીને સંતોની પાસે બેઠેલા ગામના લોકો હસ્યા, કારણ કે એ સમયે અંગ્રેજ સરકારની હકુમત હતી. ગામનો પટેલ હોય તે ગામનો રાજા ગણાતો, તેની સાહ્યબી રાજા જેવી રહેતી, આથી જ્યારે કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીએ અનાથ બાળક જીજીભાઈને ‘પટેલ’ કહ્યો એટલે સૌ લોકો હસ્યા, એ લોકો જાણતા હતા કે આ છોકરાને તો રહેવાના કે ખાવાના પણ ઠેકાણા નથી ! આને તો સ્વામી આપ ‘પટેલ’ કહો છો ! આમ કહ્યું એટલે કૃપાનંદ સ્વામી કહે, ‘ અમારામાં રહીને સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન બોલ્યા છે માટે આ જીજીભાઈ જરૂર કોઈ ગામનો પટેલ થશે સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન અમારા વેણ ને જરુર સત્ય કરશે ‘
સમયજતા આ અનાથ બાળક જીજીભાઈ માટે કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીના આશીર્વાદ સત્ય થયા, એ વખતે દોરા ગામના પટેલ દંપતિને કોઈ સંતાન ન હતું. તેમણે પોતાના કુળદેવીને પ્રસન્ન કરવા માટે યજ્ઞ કર્યો, પોતાના કુળદેવીના વ્રત ને પ્રાર્થના કરી. તેમના કુળદેવીએ પ્રસન્ન થઈને પતિ પત્નીને એક જ સમયે સ્વપ્નમાં આવીને કહ્યું કે કોઇ નિશ્ચિત દિવસે ડમણિયું (નાનું ગાડું) જોડીને ફલાણી દિશે જજો, દિવસ ઉગતા જે ગામ આવે, ત્યાં પ્રથમ જે બાળક સામે મળે, તેને પુત્ર તરીકે સ્વીકારીને તમારો વારસદાર કરીને લઇ લેજો. તે બાળક તમને સુખી કરીને તમારા કુળનો ઉદ્ધાર કરશે, આમ સ્વપ્નમાં પતિ પત્ની બંનેને કહીને દેવી અદ્રશ્ય થઇ ગયા. વળતે દિવસ સવારે જાગીને બંનેએ પરસ્પર વાત કરી, બંનેને જાણે તાદ્રશ દર્શન થયા હોય તેમ દેવીએ સરખુંજ કહ્યું હતું ! દોરા ગામના પટેલ અને તેમના પત્ની દેવીમાતાએ કહેલ દિવસ અને દર્શાવેલ દિશામા વેલડું જોડીને ગયા, દિવસ ઉગતા આ અનાથ બાળક જીજીભાઈ સામે મળ્યા, વેલડું ઉભું રાખીને બંનેએ તે બાળકને આપીને વહાલથી તેડી લીધો અને મુખમાં મીઠાઇ આપીને પોતાનો વારસદાર કર્યો ! આ પટેલના ઘરે જ જેને કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીએ ‘પટેલ‘ કહેલા તે જીજીભાઈ મોટા થઇને દોરા ગામના ‘ પટેલ‘ બન્યા ! જીજીભાઈ સદાય સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનના સંતોના જોગમા રહ્યા. આ પ્રદેશમાં જીજીભાઈએ ઘણા લોકોને સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનના જોડયા. દોરા ગામ અને આજુબાજુના ઘણા મુસલમાનો પણ જીજીભાઈના સંગથી સત્સંગી થયા. સાચા સંતની સેવા અને એમના આશીર્વાદ નિષ્ફળ નથી જતા એ ન્યાયે સદગુરુ કૃપાનંદ સ્વામીની સેવા કરનાર આ નાના બાળક જીજીભાઈની નિસ્વાર્થ સેવાથી શ્રીહરિએ એમનુ પ્રારબ્ધ જ બદલી નાંખ્યું. જીજીભાઈએ દોરા ગામમાં પોતાના ઘર બાજુમાં જ ખુબ ભવ્ય શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ મંદિર બનાવ્યું છે, જેના દર્શન થાય છે, જે સ્વામિનારાયણ મંદિરને સીસમના લાકડા ઉપર નકશી-કામ વડે ભવ્ય રીતે શોભિત બનાવ્યું છે. હાલમાં પણ એ સ્વામિનારાયણ મંદિરની બાંધણી રજવાડી છે અને એમની બાજુમાં આવેલા એમના વંશજોના મકાન પણ તેવા જ રજવાડી છે. હાલ તેમના વંશજો પણ વડતાલવાસી શ્રીલક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવના દ્રઢ આશ્રિત છે, અત્યારે તેમના વંશજો પણ ખુબ સારા સત્સંગી છે. જીજીભાઈ પટેલના ચોથી-પાંચમી પેઢીના વંશજ જશભાઈ પટેલ નો પરિવાર પણ ખૂબ સારા સત્સંગી છે. તેઓ દોરા ગામે રૂબરૂ મળ્યા ત્યારે તેમણે પોતાના વડવા જીજીભાઈની ઉપરોક્ત હકીકત વડિલ હરિભક્ત શ્રી ઘનશ્યામભાઇ ઠેસીયા ને રજુ કરી હતી.
સદગુરુ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીએ શ્રીભકતચિંતામણી ગૃંથના પૃકરણ ૧૨૫ ની પાંચમી કડી મા એમને ચિંતવતા લખ્યું છે કે…
ભક્ત જીજીભાઇ ભગવાન, શેખ માવજી ભીખો નિદાન..! એહ આદિ હરિજન દેહ, વસે ગામ દોરામાંહી તેહ..!!

दोरा के जीजीभाई पटेल और कृपानंद स्वामी का आशीर्वाद
भरूच जिले में मुक्तराज दीनानाथ भट्ट के गाँव आमोद के निकट दोरा नामक गाँव स्थित है। इस दोरा गाँव में सद्गुरु कृपानंद स्वामी के पावन योग से जीजीभाई पटेल, काशीरामभाई ब्राह्मण, नागरदासभाई पटेल आदि महानुभाव सत्संगी बने थे। जीजीभाई पटेल का तो संपूर्ण प्रारब्ध ही कृपानंद स्वामी के दिव्य वचनों से बदल गया था!
जीजीभाई जब सर्वथा छोटे बालक थे, तभी उनके माता-पिता का देहावसान हो गया था। किसी भी सगे-संबंधी का सहारा न होने के कारण वे सर्वथा अनाथ हो गए थे। यहाँ तक कि उन्हें अपने मूल गाँव का भी ज्ञान नहीं था! जहाँ कोई दयावश भोजन दे देता वहाँ खा लेते और जहाँ कोई ओटला (चबूतरा) मिल जाता वहीं सो जाते! अनाथ होने पर भी वे बालक जीजीभाई अत्यंत उत्साही और कर्मठ थे। वे जहाँ भी जाते, जो भी कार्य उन्हें सौंपा जाता, उसे बड़े उत्साह और लगन से करते थे।
अनाथ बालक जीजीभाई इसी प्रकार जब किसी गाँव में थे, तब परम समर्थ और वचनसिद्ध संत सद्गुरु कृपानंद स्वामी का संत मंडल उस गाँव में पधारा। गाँव के प्रतिष्ठित लोगों के कहने पर यह छोटा बालक जीजीभाई संतों की सेवा में लग गया। संत जो भी छोटी-बड़ी सेवा बताते, बालक जीजीभाई उसे अत्यंत आनंद और उमंग से करने लगे। उस नन्हें बालक की ऐसी निष्कपट सेवा और निर्दोष भाव देखकर एक दिन कृपानंद स्वामी ने प्रेमपूर्वक पुकारा, “आइए, जीजीभाई पटेल!”
यह संबोधन सुनकर संतों के समीप बैठे गाँव के लोग हँसने लगे। उस समय देश में ब्रिटिश शासन था। गाँव का ‘पटेल’ (मुखिया) गाँव के राजा के समान माना जाता था और उसकी ठसक एवं प्रतिष्ठा राजा जैसी होती थी। इसलिए जब कृपानंद स्वामी ने एक बेसहारा अनाथ बालक को ‘पटेल’ कहकर पुकारा, तो लोग हँसते हुए कहने लगे, “स्वामी! इस बालक के पास तो रहने का ठिकाना है न दो वक्त के भोजन का! और आप इसे ‘पटेल’ कह रहे हैं?” तब कृपानंद स्वामी ने गंभीर होकर कहा, “हमारे भीतर अंतर्यामी रूप से विराजमान होकर स्वयं स्वामीनारायण भगवान बोले हैं! इसलिए यह बालक जीजीभाई निश्चित ही किसी गाँव का पटेल बनेगा। स्वामीनारायण भगवान हमारे इस वचन को अवश्य सत्य करेंगे!”
समय बीतने के साथ अनाथ बालक जीजीभाई के लिए कृपानंद स्वामी का यह दिव्य आशीर्वाद अक्षरशः सत्य सिद्ध हुआ। उस समय दोरा गाँव के पटेल दंपती के कोई संतान नहीं थी। उन्होंने अपनी कुलदेवी को प्रसन्न करने के लिए यज्ञ किया, अनेक व्रत रखे और मनौती माँगी। कुलदेवी ने प्रसन्न होकर पति-पत्नी दोनों को एक ही रात्रि में एक साथ स्वप्न में दर्शन दिए और कहा, “अमुक निश्चित दिन छोटी बैलगाड़ी (डमणियूं) जोड़कर अमुक दिशा की ओर प्रस्थान करना। सूर्योदय होते ही जो गाँव आए, वहाँ सबसे पहले जो बालक तुम्हें सामने मिले, उसे अपना दत्तक पुत्र और कुल का वारिस मानकर स्वीकार कर लेना। वह बालक तुम्हें सुखी करेगा और तुम्हारे कुल का उद्धार करेगा।” दोनों को यह स्वप्न देकर देवी अंतर्ध्यान हो गईं।
अगले दिन प्रातः जागने पर पति-पत्नी ने आपस में बात की, तो दोनों ने पाया कि दोनों को एक समान ही प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन और आदेश प्राप्त हुआ था! दोरा गाँव के पटेल और उनकी पत्नी देवी के बताए अनुसार निश्चित दिन और दिशा में अपनी गाड़ी लेकर निकले। दिन निकलते ही उन्हें सामने वही अनाथ बालक जीजीभाई मिले! गाड़ी रोककर दोनों ने उस बालक को अत्यंत लाड़-प्यार से गोद में उठा लिया, उसके मुख में मिठाई खिलाई और उसे अपना कानूनी वारिस बना लिया!
इस प्रकार, जिस बालक को कृपानंद स्वामी ने ‘पटेल’ कहकर पुकारा था, वही जीजीभाई उस पटेल के घर बड़े होकर दोरा गाँव के प्रतिष्ठित ‘पटेल’ (मुखिया) बने!
जीजीभाई सदैव भगवान स्वामीनारायण के संतों के सत्संग और संग में रहे। इस पूरे क्षेत्र में जीजीभाई ने अनेक लोगों को स्वामीनारायण सत्संग से जोड़ा। दोरा गाँव और आसपास के कई मुसलमान भी जीजीभाई के पावन संग से सत्संगी बन गए।
सच्चे संत की सेवा और उनके आशीर्वाद कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाते—इस न्याय से सद्गुरु कृपानंद स्वामी की निष्काम सेवा करने वाले इस छोटे बालक जीजीभाई की सेवा से प्रसन्न होकर श्रीहरि ने उसका प्रारब्ध ही बदल डाला।
जीजीभाई ने दोरा गाँव में अपने घर के निकट ही श्री स्वामीनारायण भगवान का एक भव्य मंदिर बनवाया, जो आज भी दर्शनार्थियों को आकर्षित करता है। इस स्वामीनारायण मंदिर में शीशम की लकड़ी पर अत्यंत नक्काशीदार और सुंदर काष्ठ-कला की गई है। आज भी उस मंदिर का निर्माण-शिल्प रजवाड़ी (शाही) शैली का है और उनके पास बने उनके वंशजों के मकान भी वैसे ही राजसी हैं।
वर्तमान में भी उनके वंशज वड़तालवासी श्री लक्ष्मीनारायण देव के अनन्य आश्रित और दृढ़ सत्संगी हैं। जीजीभाई पटेल की चौथी-पाँचवीं पीढ़ी के वंशज जशभाई पटेल का संपूर्ण परिवार बहुत ही निष्ठावान सत्संगी है। जब वे दोरा गाँव में प्रत्यक्ष मिले, तब उन्होंने अपने पूर्वज जीजीभाई का यह पावन प्रसंग वरिष्ठ हरिभक्त श्री घनश्यामभाई ठेसिया को सुनाया था।
सद्गुरु निष्कुलानंद स्वामी ने ‘श्रीभक्त चिंतामणि’ ग्रंथ के प्रकरण १२५ की ५वीं कड़ी में उनका स्मरण करते हुए लिखा है:
ભક્ત જીજીભાઇ ભગવાન, શેખ માવજી ભીખો નિદાન..!
એહ આદિ હરિજન દેહ, વસે ગામ દોરામાંહી તેહ..!!

Jijibhai Patel of Dora and the Blessings of Krupanand Swami
In the Bharuch district, near the village of Amod—the sacred birthplace of Muktaraj Dinanath Bhatt—lies the village of Dora. Through the divine association of Sadguru Krupanand Swami, noble souls such as Jijibhai Patel, Kashirambhai Brahmin, and Nagardasbhai Patel embraced the Satsang fellowship in Dora. Indeed, Jijibhai Patel’s very destiny was transformed by the prophetic words of Krupanand Swami!
When Jijibhai was merely a young boy, both his parents passed away. Left without any relatives or family support, he was reduced to the plight of a helpless orphan. He did not even know which village he originally hailed from. He survived by eating whatever food kind souls offered him and slept on whichever veranda or porch (otla) he could find. Despite his destitution, young Jijibhai was an exceptionally spirited, energetic, and hardworking child. Wherever he went, he eagerly threw himself into whatever chores were assigned to him.
While the orphan child Jijibhai was living in a certain village under such circumstances, the revered sant mandal led by the great, spiritually realized Sadguru Krupanand Swami arrived there. At the behest of the village elders, young Jijibhai joined in the service of the sadhus. Whatever small or large chores the sants requested, he carried them out with immense enthusiasm and joyful dedication. Beholding the little boy’s innocent devotion and selfless service, Krupanand Swami lovingly addressed him one day, saying, “Welcome, Jijibhai Patel!”
Hearing this greeting, the villagers seated near the sadhus began to chuckle. In those days, under the British administration, the village ‘Patel’ (chief or headman) was regarded virtually as the king of the village, commanding immense royal prestige, wealth, and authority. Therefore, when Krupanand Swami addressed a penniless orphan boy as ‘Patel’, the people smiled and remarked, “Swami, this boy doesn’t even have a roof over his head or a guaranteed meal, and you are addressing him as ‘Patel’?” Krupanand Swami replied serenely, “Swaminarayan Bhagwan Himself has spoken from within us! Therefore, this Jijibhai shall certainly become the Patel of a village. Bhagwan Swaminarayan will unfailingly make our words come true!”
With the passage of time, Krupanand Swami’s divine blessing for the orphan Jijibhai came true in a miraculous manner. At that time, a childless Patel couple resided in the village of Dora. Desirous of a child, they performed a sacred yajna, observed austere vows, and prayed fervently to their Kuldevi (family deity). Pleased by their piety, the Kuldevi appeared in a dream simultaneously to both husband and wife one night, instructing them: “On a specific day, hitch your small cart (damaniyu) and travel in a certain direction. At daybreak, in whichever village you reach, adopt the very first child you meet as your own son and heir. That child will bring you great happiness and bring honor to your entire lineage.” Having blessed them both in their dream, the deity vanished.
Upon waking the following morning, the husband and wife shared their dreams and were astonished to realize that both had received the exact same divine revelation! On the appointed day, the Patel and his wife set out in their cart (veldu) in the direction shown by the deity. Just as day dawned, they encountered the orphan boy Jijibhai. Halting their cart, they lovingly embraced the child, placed sweets in his mouth, and gladly adopted him as their rightful son and heir!
Thus, in the household of this prominent Patel, the very Jijibhai whom Krupanand Swami had greeted as ‘Patel’ grew up to become the revered Patel (headman) of Dora village!
Throughout his life, Jijibhai remained steadfastly devoted to Bhagwan Swaminarayan and His holy sadhus. Across that region, Jijibhai inspired countless people to embrace the Satsang fellowship. Numerous Muslims residing in Dora and the surrounding villages also became devout Satsangis through their association with Jijibhai.
Proving the eternal truth that the dedicated service and blessings of a true saint never go in vain, Shri Hari completely rewrote the destiny of this orphan child Jijibhai because of his selfless seva towards Sadguru Krupanand Swami.
In Dora, adjacent to his own residence, Jijibhai constructed a magnificent Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, where devotees still offer their heartfelt prayers today. The mandir is exquisitely adorned with intricate carvings on precious rosewood (shisham). Even today, the architecture of this Swaminarayan mandir reflects royal grandeur, as do the adjacent residences of his descendants.
His descendants remain staunch followers of Shri Lakshminarayan Dev of Vadtal and live as exemplary Satsangis. Jashbhai Patel, a descendant in the fourth or fifth generation of Jijibhai Patel, and his family are deeply devout devotees. When senior devotee Shri Ghanshyambhai Thesiya visited Dora in person, Jashbhai related this inspiring history of their revered ancestor Jijibhai.
Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami has commemorated him in the Shri Bhaktachintamani (Chapter 125, Verse 5):
Bhakta Jijibhai Bhagwan, Sheikh Mavji Bhikho nidaan..!
Eh aadi harijana deh, vase gaam Doramaahi teh..!!
