એકવખત શ્રીજીમહારાજ લાઠીદડ પાહેના સરવઇ ગામે ગામધણી જીવણા ધાધલના દરબારગઢમાં બીરાજતા હતા. એ સમયે એક સત્સંગી વણિક શેઠ શ્રીહરિ ને ધરાવવા સારુ સાકરના ભરેલા થાળ લાવ્યા.

સરવઇના વણિક શેઠ અને મુળજી બ્રહ્મચારીની સેવા
એકવખત શ્રીજીમહારાજ લાઠીદડ પાહેના સરવઇ ગામે ગામધણી જીવણા ધાધલના દરબારગઢમાં બીરાજતા હતા. એ સમયે એક સત્સંગી વણિક શેઠ શ્રીહરિ ને ધરાવવા સારુ પોતાના માણસો પાસે સાકરના ભરેલા થાળ ઉપડાવી ને લાવ્યા. શ્રીજીમહારાજના ઢોલીયા પાસે સાકરના થાળ મુકીને દંડવત પૃણામ કરીને વણિક શેઠ સન્મુખ બેઠા. શ્રીહરિ તો એમનો ભાવ જોઇને થાળનાંથી સાકરની મુઠી ભરીને જમવા લાગ્યા. આજ સમયે શ્રીહરિના અંગભૂત સેવક મુળજી બૃહમચારી શ્રીહરિને થાળ જમવા બોલાવવા આવ્યા ને એમણે સાકર જમતા જોયા એટલે ભડક્યા ને તુરંત જ ખીજાઇને બોલ્યા કે મે તમારા સારુ થાળની રસોઇ તૈયાર કરી છે ને તમે આહી સાકર જમો છો, તે હવે મારી બનાવેલ રસોઇ પડી રહેશે..!
શ્રીહરિ કહે કે તમે ચિંતા ન કરો, અમે તો તમારો થાળ પણ જમીશું..! આજ તો તમો વાંક મા આવ્યા છો, છતા અમે તમારો ગૂનો ગણતા નથી, ને અમે વાંકમાં નથી છતા તમે અમારા ઉપર વગર વાંકે ખીજાઓ છો.
ત્યારે મુળજી બૃહ્મચારી બે હાથ જોડીને બોલ્યા કે હે પૃભુ, તમને સાકર જમતા ના પાડી એ મારો વાંક ? હવે તમને ફરીથી જો ક્યારેય ના પાંડુ તો મને સેવામાંથી કાઢી મૂકજો. અમે તો મન કર્મથી જે કાય કરીએ છીએ એ તમને રાજી કરવા જ કરીએ છીએ, માટે બીજો કોઇ જે અમારો વાંક હોય એ કહો..!
શ્રીહરિ એ પૃત્યુતર ન દીધો એટલે વળી બૃહ્મચારીજી બોલ્યા કે તમો તો ક્યાંય બંધાવ નહી એવા છો, જેમ એક ધોબીના કુવચને તમે સીતાજીનો ત્યાગ કરી દીધો અને પોતાનું કરુણાસીંધુ નામ તજતા પણ વાર ન લગાડી.
શ્રીહરિ બોલ્યા કે અમે તો અમારા ભક્તના કોટી ગૂના હોય તો પણ માફ કરીએ છીએ, વારંવાર કોઇ અમારા મા દોષ કલ્પે તો પણ અમારા શરણે આવેલા ને અમે તજતા નથી. અમે તો પુર્વે પણ ક્યારેય કોઇના ગૂના સામુ જોયા વગર જ સૌને ફળ આપ્યું છે, અમે કોઇ દીવસ કોઇ ઉધારો રાખતા જ નથી.
શ્રીહરિએ આવા કૃપાવાકયો સાંભળીને બૃહ્મચારીજીએ હાથ જોડીને પૃાર્થના કરી કે હે મહારાજ..! જ્યારે જ્યારે અમારી ભૂલ થાય ત્યારે તમે અમને આમજ કેજો અને અમને અંતકાળ સુધી સુધારતા રેજો.
શ્રીહરિ હસતા હસતા ઉભા થયા ને મુળજી બૃહમચારી સાથે થાળ જમવા પધાર્યા.

सरवई के वणिक सेठ और मुलजी ब्रह्मचारी की सेवा
एक समय श्रीजी महाराज लाठीदड़ के समीप स्थित सरवई गाँव में ग्रामधनी जीवणा धाधल के दरबारगढ़ में विराजमान थे। उस समय एक सत्संगी वणिक सेठ श्रीहरि को भोग अर्पित करने के लिए अपने सेवकों के साथ मिश्री (साकर) से भरे हुए थाल लेकर आए। श्रीजी महाराज के ढोलिये (पलंग) के समीप मिश्री के थाल रखकर, साष्टांग दंडवत प्रणाम करके वणिक सेठ महाराज के सन्मुख बैठ गए।
श्रीहरि तो भक्त का अनन्य प्रेम-भाव देखकर थाल में से मुट्ठी भरकर मिश्री खाने लगे। ठीक उसी समय श्रीहरि के अंतरंग सेवक मुलजी ब्रह्मचारी श्रीहरि को भोजन (थाल) जीमने के लिए बुलाने आए। उन्होंने देखा कि महाराज तो मिश्री खा रहे हैं, तो वे खिन्न (नाराज) होकर तुरंत बोले, “मैंने आपके लिए इतने यत्न से थाल की रसोई तैयार की है और आप यहाँ मिश्री खा रहे हैं! अब तो मेरी बनाई हुई रसोई यूँ ही धरी रह जाएगी!”
श्रीहरि ने मंद मुस्कान के साथ कहा, “आप चिंता मत कीजिए, हम आपका बनाया थाल भी अवश्य जीमेंगे! आज तो आप दोष में आ गए हैं, फिर भी हम आपका कोई अपराध नहीं मान रहे हैं; और हम तो किसी अपराध में नहीं हैं, फिर भी आप हम पर अकारण ही क्रोध कर रहे हैं।”
तब मुलजी ब्रह्मचारी ने दोनों हाथ जोड़कर कहा, “हे प्रभु! आपको मिश्री खाने से मना किया, क्या यह मेरा अपराध है? यदि अब कभी आपको फिर से मना करूँ, तो मुझे अपनी सेवा से ही निकाल दीजिएगा! हम तो मन, वचन और कर्म से जो कुछ भी करते हैं, केवल आपको प्रसन्न करने के लिए ही करते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त यदि मेरा कोई अन्य दोष हो तो बताइए!”
जब श्रीहरि ने कोई उत्तर नहीं दिया, तो ब्रह्मचारीजी पुनः भावविभोर होकर बोले, “आप तो किसी के प्रेम-बंधन में बँधते ही नहीं! जैसे पूर्व अवतार में एक धोबी के कटु वचनों के कारण आपने सीताजी का त्याग कर दिया था और अपने ‘करुणासिंधु’ नाम को त्यागने में भी आपको क्षण भर की देर न लगी!”
यह सुनकर श्रीहरि ने वात्सल्यपूर्वक कहा, “हम तो अपने भक्त के करोड़ों अपराध हों, तब भी उन्हें क्षमा कर देते हैं। यदि कोई बार-बार हममें दोष भी देखे, तब भी हमारी शरण में आए हुए जीव को हम कभी नहीं त्यागते। हमने तो पूर्व में भी कभी किसी के अपराधों की ओर देखे बिना ही सबको यथायोग्य फल दिया है; हम कभी किसी का कुछ भी उधार (बाकी) नहीं रखते।”
श्रीहरि के ऐसे अमृतमय और करुणामय वचन सुनकर ब्रह्मचारीजी ने हाथ जोड़कर नम्र प्रार्थना की, “हे महाराज! जब-जब हमसे कोई भूल या त्रुटि हो, तब-तब आप हमें इसी प्रकार स्नेह से समझाते रहिएगा और अंत समय तक हमारा सुधार करते रहिएगा।”
श्रीहरि मंद-मंद हँसते हुए उठे और मुलजी ब्रह्मचारी के साथ प्रेमपूर्वक थाल जीमने पधारे।

The Vanik Sheth of Sarvai and the Loving Service of Mulji Brahmachari
Once, Shriji Maharaj was gracing the Darbargadh of the village chieftain Jivna Dhadhal in the village of Sarvai, near Lathidad. At that time, a devoted satsangi Vanik Sheth (merchant) arrived with his attendants carrying large trays filled with pure crystallized sugar (sakar) to offer to Shri Hari. Placing the trays of sakar near Shriji Maharaj’s cot (dholiyo), the merchant offered prostrations (dandvat pranam) and sat reverently before Him.
Seeing the merchant’s pure devotion and love, Shri Hari scooped up a handful of sugar from the tray and began relishing it. At that very moment, Shri Hari’s devoted personal attendant, Mulji Brahmachari, arrived to invite Shriji Maharaj to partake of the meal (thal) he had lovingly prepared. Seeing Maharaj eating sugar, Mulji Brahmachari became upset and spoke with affectionate annoyance: “I have prepared an elaborate meal for You, and here You are eating sugar! Now the food I cooked will be left untouched and go to waste!”
Shri Hari lovingly consoled him, saying, “Do not worry; We will certainly eat your thal as well! Today, you are at fault, yet We hold no grievance against you; while We have done no wrong, yet you are displeased with Us without any fault of Ours.”
Folding his hands in humility, Mulji Brahmachari replied, “O Lord! Is it my fault that I stopped You from eating sugar? If I ever forbid You again in the future, dismiss me from Your personal service! Whatever we do through mind, word, and deed is solely to please You. If there is any other mistake on my part, please tell me!”
When Shri Hari remained silent, Brahmachariji spoke further with devotional intimacy: “You are One who never remains bound by anyone’s attachment! Just as in Your earlier incarnation You renounced Sitaji over the idle words of a washerman, not hesitating for a moment to forego even Your divine title as the ‘Ocean of Mercy’ (Karunasindhu)!”
Hearing this, Shri Hari replied with profound grace: “We forgive millions of mistakes made by Our devotees. Even if someone repeatedly perceives flaws in Us, We never abandon anyone who has taken refuge at Our feet. In the past as well, without dwelling on anyone’s faults, We have bestowed divine fruits upon all; We never keep anyone’s account pending.”
Moved to tears by these words of supreme compassion, Mulji Brahmachari folded his hands and prayed: “O Maharaj! Whenever we make a mistake, please correct us just like this and keep guiding and reforming us until our final breath.”
Smiling divinely, Shri Hari arose and happily accompanied Mulji Brahmachari to partake of the sanctified thal.
