ટીકરના ઓધવજીભાઈ સુતાર અને તીર્થયાત્રાનો સંકલ્પ
સુરેન્દ્રનગરથી આશરે ૯૦ કીમી ના અંતરે હળવદ નજીક ટીકર કરીને ગામ આવેલું છે. આ ટીકર ગામમાં ઓધવજીભાઈ સુતાર નામે શ્રીજીમહારાજને વિશે અનન્ય નિષ્ઠાવાન ભક્ત હતા. સંતોના જોગથી તેમને શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનનો અને સંતોનો મહિમા ખૂબ સમજાયો હતો. તેઓને મનમાં પોતાના આત્મકલ્યાણ સારુ તીર્થ કરવા જવાનો શુભ સંકલ્પ હતો. ઓધવજી ભગત કાયમ ગામમાં થતી કથામાં શાસ્ત્રોનું શ્રવણ કરતા, જ્યારે જ્યારે કથામાં એવી વાતો આવે કે ગંગાજી, યમુનાજી, કાશી, મથુરા જેવા તીર્થોમાં જઈએ તો આપણા સર્વે પાપ નાશ થાય અને પૂર્વજોનું પણ કલ્યાણ થાય. આવા શાસ્ત્રના વચનોથી તેમણે તીર્થો કરવા માટે પોતે થોડું થોડું બચત કરીને ધન ભેળું કરીને એક માટલીમાં રાખીને જમીનમાં દાટી રાખ્યું હતું, પરંતુ તીર્થોમાં જવાનો સંકલ્પ તો હજુ બાકી રહ્યો હતો, આથી તીર્થોમાં જાવાની તૈયારીઓ કરતા, પરંતુ કોઈને કોઈ કારણથી તીર્થયાત્રામાં જવાના સંજોગો થતા નહિ. ઘણી વખત જાત્રાએ જવા માટે ભાતા લઈને તૈયાર પણ થયેલા, પરંતુ અવાર નવાર સંજોગો પ્રતિકૂળ થવાથી યાત્રા કરવા નહોતા જઈ શક્યા, ને બરાબર તેજ દરમિયાન તેમને સંતોના યોગે સત્સંગ થયો.
એક વખત શ્રીજીમહારાજ તેમના ગામે ટીકર પધાર્યા, સૌએ ધામધૂમથી સામૈયા કરી ને પૂજા કરી, એ વખતે શ્રીજીમહારાજ તેમના ઘરે સંતો પાર્ષદો સાથે પધાર્યા, શ્રીજીમહારાજ ઓસરીમા ઢોલીયે બેસતા થકા અંતર્યામીપણે ઓધવજીભાઈનો સંકલ્પ જાણીને મોટી ઉંમરે તેમને તીર્થ કરવા જવાની ના પાડી. શ્રીજીમહારાજે ઓધવજીભાઈને અંતર્યામીપણે કહ્યું કે આજ તમારા ઘરે બધા તીર્થો આવ્યા છે, એમ કહીને પાણી ભરેલા એક વાસણમાં પોતે ચરણાર્વિન્દ રાખ્યા અને કહ્યું કે આમાં સૌ તીર્થો આવી ગયા છે, હવે તમારું દેહ વૃદ્ધ થયું છે, આથી હવે તીર્થે જવા માટે દાટેલું ધન સત્સંગમાં વાપરજો. અમે તમારા ઘરે પધાર્યા એટલે તમારે હવે ક્યાંય તિર્થમા જવાની જરુર નથી. ઓધવજીભાઈએ તે શ્રીજીમહારાજના ચરણોદ્દક જળ લઈને માથે ચડાવ્યું, પોતાના પરિવારના સહુએ ચરણામૃત દીધુ. શ્રીજીમહારાજે અંતર્યામીપણે એમના દાટેલા ધનની વાત અને જાત્રાએ જવાની વાત કરતા એમના પરિવાર અને ગામના સહુને શ્રીહરિનો નિશ્ચય થયો. શ્રીજીમહારાજના વચને એમને પોતાનો જાત્રા સંકલ્પ પૂરો થયો તેમ માનીને પોતે જેમ જાત્રા કરીને જ આવ્યા હોય એ રીતે પોતાના સૌ સગાઓ અને સત્સંગીઓને તેડાવીને જમાડ્યા. ગઢડા જઈને સંતોને જમાડ્યા અને પૂર્ણકામ થયા.
હતું કાશીએ જાવાનું મન, પણ વૃદ્ધ થયું હતું તન..! આવે વિચાર વારંવાર, ભાતા બાંધીને થયા તૈયાર..! ઉર ઘાટ શમે નહિ લેશ, આવ્યા એવામાં શ્રી પરમેશ..! થાળ જમી રહયા જગતાત, જાણી અંતરજામીએ વાત…! તેથી પ્રભુએ કહ્યું છે આમ, આજ આવ્યા તીરથ તમામ..! બોળ્યો પાણીમાં ચરણ પોતે, પછી એમ બોલ્યા સ્નેહ સોતે…! તીર્થ ત્રિવેણી પ્રયાગરાજ, સનમુખ આવ્યા સહુ આજ..! માટે માની લ્યો વચન મારું, થયું પૂરણ કામ તમારું..! મારું વેણ જો નહિ મનાય, જાશો તો પાછું નહિ અવાય..! આદર્યું અધવચમાં રહેશે, ધન દાટેલું લૂંટાવી દેશે..! દાન પુણ્ય કરી લેજો આજે, એવો મરમ કર્યો મહારાજે..!

टीकर के ओधवजीभाई सुतार और तीर्थयात्रा का संकल्प
सुरेन्द्रनगर से लगभग ९० किलोमीटर की दूरी पर हलवद के निकट टीकर नामक गाँव स्थित है। इस टीकर गाँव में ओधवजीभाई सुतार नाम के श्रीजी महाराज के अनन्य निष्ठावान भक्त रहते थे। संतों के समागम से उन्हें भगवान श्रीस्वामिनारायण और संतों की दिव्य महिमा की गहरी समझ प्राप्त हुई थी।
उनके मन में अपने आत्म-कल्याण के लिए तीर्थयात्रा करने का एक शुभ संकल्प था। ओधवजी भगत गाँव में होने वाली कथाओं में नियमित रूप से शास्त्रों का श्रवण करते थे। जब-जब कथा में यह प्रसंग आता कि गंगाजी, यमुनाजी, काशी, मथुरा जैसे पावन तीर्थों की यात्रा करने से समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं और पूर्वजों का भी कल्याण होता है, तो शास्त्रों के इन वचनों से प्रेरित होकर उन्होंने तीर्थयात्रा करने के लिए अपनी थोड़ी-थोड़ी बचत एकत्र की। उस धन को एक मटकी में रखकर उन्होंने भूमि में गाड़ कर सुरक्षित रख दिया था। परंतु तीर्थयात्रा पर जाने का संकल्प अभी मन में ही था। वे कई बार यात्रा की तैयारियाँ करते, किंतु किसी न किसी कारणवश जाने के अनुकूल संयोग नहीं बनते थे। कई बार तो वे यात्रा का पाथेय (भाता) बाँधकर भी तैयार हो जाते, लेकिन बार-बार विपरीत परिस्थितियों के कारण यात्रा पर नहीं निकल पाते थे। इसी अवधि के दौरान संतों के योग से उन्हें सत्संग का अमूल्य लाभ प्राप्त हुआ।
एक बार श्रीजी महाराज टीकर गाँव पधारे। समस्त गाँववासियों और हरिभक्तों ने अत्यंत धूमधाम से महाराज का सामैया किया और भावपूर्वक पूजन-अर्चन किया। उस समय श्रीजी महाराज संतों और पार्षदों सहित ओधवजीभाई के घर पधारे। श्रीजी महाराज घर की ओसरी (बरामदे) में रखे ढोलिये (पलंग) पर विराजित हुए। अंतर्यामी परमात्मा श्रीजी महाराज ने ओधवजीभाई के मन का गुप्त संकल्प जानकर इस वृद्धावस्था में उन्हें दूरस्थ तीर्थों की यात्रा पर जाने से मना किया।
श्रीजी महाराज ने अंतर्यामी रूप से ओधवजीभाई से कहा, “आज आपके घर साक्षात समस्त तीर्थ स्वयं पधार चुके हैं!” ऐसा कहकर महाराज ने जल से भरे एक पात्र में अपने चरणारविंद पधराए और कहा, “इस जल में अब समस्त तीर्थ आ गए हैं। अब आपका शरीर वृद्ध हो चुका है, इसलिए तीर्थ जाने के लिए आपने जो धन भूमि में गाड़ कर रखा है, उसे सत्संग के सेवा-कार्यों में ही व्यय कीजिए। जब साक्षात हम आपके घर पधार गए हैं, तो अब आपको अन्यत्र किसी तीर्थ में जाने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है।”
ओधवजीभाई ने श्रीजी महाराज के उस दिव्य चरणोदक जल को मस्तक पर चढ़ाया और समस्त परिवारजनों ने अत्यंत श्रद्धा से वह चरणामृत ग्रहण किया। श्रीजी महाराज द्वारा अंतर्यामी रूप से गड़े हुए धन और तीर्थयात्रा की गुप्त बात को प्रकट कर देने पर ओधवजीभाई के परिवार तथा समस्त गाँववासियों को श्रीहरि के साक्षात परब्रह्म होने का दृढ़ निश्चय हो गया।
श्रीजी महाराज के वचनों को शिरोधार्य करते हुए ओधवजीभाई ने मान लिया कि उनकी तीर्थयात्रा का संकल्प पूर्ण हो गया है। जैसे कोई तीर्थयात्रा करके लौटा हो, वैसे ही उन्होंने अपने सभी सगे-संबंधियों और सत्संगियों को प्रेमपूर्वक आमंत्रित कर महाप्रसाद (भोजन) कराया। इसके पश्चात वे गढ़डा पधारे और वहाँ संतों को भोजन कराकर पूर्णकाम एवं कृतार्थ हुए।
था काशी जाने का मन, पर वृद्ध हो चला था तन..! आता विचार बारंबार, पाथेय बाँधकर हुए तैयार..! उर का संशय शमे न लेश, इतने में आए श्री परमेश..! थाल जीम रहे थे जगतात, जान ली अंतर्यामी ने बात…! इसलिए प्रभु ने कहा यूँ सार, आज आए तीर्थ सब द्वार..! डुबोए जल में चरण स्वयं, फिर बोले प्रभु स्नेह से मगन…! तीर्थ त्रिवेणी प्रयागराज, सन्मुख आए सब ही आज..! अतः मान लो वचन हमार, हुआ पूर्ण काम तुम्हारा यार..! मेरा वचन यदि न मानोगे, जाओगे तो लौट न पाओगे..! आरंभ अधूरा ही रह जाएगा, गड़ा धन कोई लूट ले जाएगा..! दान-पुण्य कर लो तुम आज, ऐसा मर्म समझाया महाराज..!

सद्गुरु निष्कुलानंद स्वामी श्री भक्तचिंतामणि ग्रंथ के प्रकरण ११७, कड़ी ३४ में इन भक्तों का स्मरण करते हुए कहते हैं: સારો ભક્ત છે ઓધો સુતાર, હરિજન હરજી લુવાર..! મોટો ભક્ત કુંભાર મહાદેવ, રહે ટીકરેં ભજે વાસુદેવ..!! (अर्थात: ओधा सुतार श्रेष्ठ भक्त हैं, और हरजी लुहार भी परम हरिभक्त हैं। कुम्हार महादेव भी बड़े अनन्य भक्त हैं, जो टीकर में रहकर वासुदेव भगवान का नित्य भजन करते हैं।)

Odhavjibhai Sutar of Tikar and His Vow of Pilgrimage
Approximately 90 kilometers from Surendranagar, near Halvad, lies the village of Tikar. In this village lived Odhavjibhai Sutar (a carpenter by profession), who was a devout and staunch devotee possessing unflinching faith in Shriji Maharaj. Through the divine association of the sadhus, he had deeply realized the profound glory and supremacy of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and His sants.
Deep within his heart, Odhavjibhai harbored a noble yearning to undertake a sacred pilgrimage to holy tirthas for the salvation of his soul. He regularly listened to scriptural discourses organized in the village. Whenever the scriptures praised holy tirthas—explaining that visiting revered shrines such as the Ganga, Yamuna, Kashi, and Mathura washes away all sins and grants liberation to ancestors—he was deeply inspired. Desiring to fulfill this holy pilgrimage, he began saving modest amounts from his earnings over time, kept the savings in a small earthen pot, and buried it underground for safekeeping. However, the pilgrimage had still not materialized. Time and again, he would make elaborate preparations to depart, even packing travel rations (bhatha) for the long journey, but unforeseen circumstances repeatedly arose to prevent him from setting out. Right during this phase of his life, he was blessed with satsang through the divine fellowship of the holy sants.
Once, Shriji Maharaj personally visited the village of Tikar. The devotees welcomed Him with joyous festivities, grand royal reception (samaiya), and loving worship. During this auspicious visit, Shriji Maharaj graciously arrived at Odhavjibhai’s residence accompanied by sants and parshads. As Shriji Maharaj sat upon a decorated cot (dholiyo) in the veranda, being the omniscient Lord (Antaryami), He divined Odhavjibhai’s inner desire and advised him against embarking on such a strenuous pilgrimage at his advanced age.
Shriji Maharaj compassionately revealed, “Today, all holy tirthas have personally arrived at your doorstep!” Saying this, Maharaj dipped His sacred lotus feet into a vessel filled with water and said, “All the sacred tirthas are now present within this vessel. Your physical body is now aged and frail; therefore, use the money you have buried in the ground for the noble cause of Satsang and service to the devotees. Since We have personally blessed your home with Our presence, there is no need for you to wander to any distant pilgrimage.”
With tears of devotion, Odhavjibhai took that sacred sanctified water (charanamrit / charanodak) and sprinkled it reverently over his head, and his entire family partook of the divine charanamrit. Hearing Shriji Maharaj omnisciently reveal both the hidden buried treasure and the secret vow of pilgrimage, Odhavjibhai’s family and all the villagers developed unshakable conviction in Shri Hari’s supreme divinity.
Accepting Shriji Maharaj’s divine word as the absolute fulfillment of his pilgrimage vow, Odhavjibhai celebrated as if he had just returned from a grand sacred journey. He invited all his relatives and fellow satsangis to his home and fed them sumptuous prasad. Later, he traveled to Gadhada and hosted a feast for the sants, achieving complete spiritual fulfillment and inner peace.
Desire led to Kashi, yet frail was the frame, Packing rations often, resolving the same. Restless remained the heart’s yearning quest, When stepped into his home the Lord, divine and blest! Finishing His meal, the Lord of all creation, Omnisciently perceived his deep contemplation. Thus spoke the Lord: “All tirthas have come today, Right at your doorstep, washed are sins away!” Immersing His lotus feet with tender grace, He spoke with love in that holy place: “Triveni and Prayagraj stand right in your sight, All sacred streams have gathered here bright! Heed My words, your task is done, Your cherished pilgrimage is already won! If you heed not, and still depart, You shall not return to this sacred part; The journey will remain midway strand, And robbers will plunder what is buried in sand! Offer charity here in Satsang today,” Thus Maharaj guided in His loving way!

Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami, while commemorating these illustrious devotees in Prakaran 117, verse 34 of the sacred scripture Shri Bhaktachintamani, writes: “Sāro bhakta chhe Odho Sutār, Harijana Harji Luhār..! Moto bhakta Kumbhāra Mahādev, rahe Tikare bhaje Vāsudev..!!” (Meaning: Odha Sutar is an exceptional devotee, and Harji Luhar is a noble devotee of God. Mahadev Kumbhar is also a great devotee; they all reside in Tikar and worship Bhagwan Vasudev.)
