સત્સંગ ના ચોપડે ખૂબ પૃસિદ્ધ એવું ખાખરેચી નામે ગામ એ માળિયા-મિયાણા તાલુકામાં આવેલું છે. ખાખરેચી ગામના લોકો મુખ્યત્વે ખેતી, ખેતમજૂરી તેમ જ પશુપાલન વગેરે કરે છે. એકવખત શ્રીજીમહારાજ ઘોડે ચડીને કચ્છ તરફથી વહેલી સવારે પાર્ષદો હારે આવતા હતા, તે વખતે આ ખાખરેચીની સીમમાં ગામના પટેલ વેલાભાઈ કૈલા અને વાલાભાઇ કૈલા પોતાના વાડીએથી રાતવાહું કરીને ઘરે આવતા હતા, રસ્તામાં બંને ભાઈઓએ એ સમે શ્રીહરિ અને પાર્ષદભક્તોના દર્શન કર્યા, તેઓ બેઉએ સૌ ઘોડેસ્વારોને આઘેરાકથી રામ કામ કર્યા, તે વખતે શ્રીજીમહારાજે આ બંને પુર્વના મુમુક્ષુઆત્મા ઓને એમના નામ લઇને બોલાવ્યા, તેઓને અચરજ થયું ને શ્રીજીમહારાજની મીઠી વાણીથી અંતરમા ખુબ ટાઢું થયું ને તેઓને અંતરમાં ખુબ આનંદ થયો, તે વખતે આ બંને ભાઈઓ સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનને ઓળખતા નહોતા, તેની દ્રષ્ટિએ તે કોઇ અજાણ્યા આગંતુક હતા છતા એ મનોહર મૂરત જોઇને બોલ્યા કે તમ જેવા પુરુષને હજુ સુધી અમે જોયા નથી, આપ કોણ છો? ત્યારે શ્રીહરિ હસ્યા ને બોલ્યા કે અમ જેવા તો અમે એક જ છીએ. એમ કહીને શ્રીહરિએ વાતમાં મર્મ કર્યો. બને ભાઇઓ ને શ્રીહરિના વચન થતા જ અંતરમા ગાંઠ્ય વળી ગઇ. તેઓ બેઉ ભાઇ પણ સૌ સાથે ગામ તરફ સાથે વાતો કરતા કરતા ચાલ્યા. ગામ નજીક આવતા શ્રીહરિ અને પાર્ષદોને બંને ભાઈઓએ પોતાના ઘરે સવારનું શિરામણ જમવા આવવા માટે આગ્રહ કરીને આમંત્રણ કહ્યું, શ્રીજીમહારાજે કહ્યું કે અમે અહીં ગામના તળાવ પાસે થોડી વાર વિશ્રામ કરીએ છીએ, તમારે ઘરે જે જમવાનું તૈયાર હોય તે જ લઈને આવો, અમે અહીં જમશું ને રસ્તે આગળ વધીશું. એમ કહી સૌ પાર્ષદ-ભક્તો સાથે મહારાજ ખાખરેચી ગામના તળાવમાં પાર્ષદોએ ઘોડાને પાયા અને સૌ કાંઠે બેઠા.
કણબી કુળે કૈલાની નાત, નામ વાલો ને વેલો વિખ્યાત..! ભગવંત ભેળા થઇ એને, પૂછ્યા સુખ સમાચારે તેને..! નામ દઈને બોલાવ્યા નાથે, આવ્યા ભાગોળ સુધી સંગાથે..! સુણી માવાના મધુરા વેણ, એના હરખ્યા હૈયા ને નેણ..! હાથ જોડી બોલ્યા હેતમાંય, તમ જેવા જોયા નથી ક્યાંય..! સુણી મર્મ કર્યો મહારાજે, અમ જેવા નથી ક્યાંય આજે..!
શ્રીજીમહારાજ સૌ પાર્ષદો સાથે ખાખરેચી ગામના તળાવની પાળે રોકાયા, વેલાભાઈ અને વાલાભાઇ બંને ભાઈઓ ઘરે ગયા, તેમના ઘરે સવારમાં શિરામણ જમવા સારુ રોટલા ઘડીને રાખેલા હતા. ઘરમાં ભેંસોના દૂઝાણા હોવાથી દહીંના દોણા ભરેલા જ હતા. દહીંમાંથી ઘી બનાવવું હોવાથી સ્ત્રીઓને જો દહીં આપવું હોય તો ઉપરની તર લઈને જ આપે, ને સ્ત્રીઓને દહીં ઉપરની તર ખુબ વહાલી હોય તે સ્વામીભાવિક છે, એ ન્યાયે ઘરની સ્ત્રીઓ એ આનાકાની કરી પણ આ બને મુકતાત્માઓએ તો શ્રીહરિને જમાડવા રોટલાનો થપ્પો અને દહીંનું આખું ગોરસુ ઉપાડ્યું ને ચાલ્યા….
કેને દેવું છે બોલી એ બાઈ, કહે પ્રભુ પધાર્યા છે આઈ…! એવું સાંભળીને તતખેવ, કાઢયા મુખેથી કડવા વેણ…! દેવી હોય તો છાશ દેવાય, દોણામાંથી દહીં ન લેવાય..! ગામ ભાંગે ને ગોરસુ ભાંગે, બેઉનું પાપ બરોબર લાગે…! માટે એમાંથી દહીં ન દઉં, એમ બાઈ ખીજાણી છે બહુ…! બાઈને કહે ગોરસામાંથી, નથી કાઢવું દહીં એમાંથી…! પાપ વોરવું પડે શું કામ, આખું ઉપાડ્યું એ ઠામ..!
ઘરના સ્ત્રીઓએ દહીંનું આખું ગોરસુ લઇ જવાનો ખુબ વિરોધ કર્યો, દહીંનું દોણું ન લઇ જવા માટે પ્રયત્ન તો કર્યો, પણ વેલાભાઈ અને વાલાભાઇ તો રોટલા અને દહીં લઈને તળાવે આવ્યા. શ્રીજીમહારાજ અને साथેના સૌ ભક્તો ને ખાખરેચી ગામના તળાવની પાળે રોટલા અને દહીં પૃેમથી જમાડયા. થોડીવારે શ્રીહરિ પાર્ષદો સાથે ઘોડે ચડીને વાટે ચાલી નીકળ્યા. સમયજતા પછી સંતોના જોગથી તેઓ બને ભાઇઓ એકાંતિક સત્સંગી થયા. - પૂ.ચ.પુ. ગુચ્છ ૬ પુષ્પ ૭૪
જ્યા મહારાજ અને પાર્ષદો એ સવારનું શિરામણ રોટલા અને દહીં જમ્યા હતા ત્યાં ખાખરેચી ગામના તળાવ કાંઠે આ દિવ્ય પ્રસંગની સ્મૃતિ માટે માળિયાના રાજા શ્રીમોડજી ઠાકોરે સત્સંગમાં વિચરણ કરતા સંતોની દોરવણી મુજબ એક સુંદર છત્રી કરાવીને ચરણાર્વિંદ પધરાવ્યા હતા. હાલમાં તે પ્રસાદીની છત્રી ખુબ જીર્ણ થઇ ગયેલ હતી, આથી તે છત્રી ચરણારવિંદ સાથે ગામના તળાવના કાંઠેથી લઈને ગામમાં મંદિરમાં પધરાવેલ છે. વાલાભાઇ કૈલાના વંશજો ખાખરેચીથી જુદા જુદા ગામોમાં વસવા ગયા, આ ભક્તોએ પ્રેમથી સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનને જમાડયા, તેના ફળ સ્વરૂપે તેમના વંશમાં મહારાજે મુકતો ને મોકલ્યા ! તેમાંના વેજળપર ગામે વસતા તેના વંશજો જે આ પ્રમાણે છે. વાલાભાઈના પુત્ર રૂડાભાઇ, ને તેમના પુત્ર રૂગનાથભાઇ, તેના પુત્ર મુળજીભાઈ, તેના પુત્ર નાથાભાઈ, તેના પુત્ર ઝવેરભાઈ હતા. તેના ત્રણ પુત્રો પૈકી ઝવેરભાઈના એક પુત્ર તે સાધુ દિક્ષા લઈને શ્રીસ્વામિનારાયણ ગુરુકુળ રાજકોટમાં સંતોના ગુરુ સ્થાને રહેલા એવા પરમપૂજ્ય દેવકૃષ્ણદાસજી સ્વામી છે, જેઓ સારાયે સંપૃદાય મા સાધુગુણે શિરમોર, સરળ, અખંડ ભગવાનને ધારી રહેલા સંત છે. એમના પુરવાશ્રમ ના ભાઇ ભૂધરભાઈ ખુબ સારા ભક્ત હતા. જે પણ ખુબ સેવા ભજન કરીને ધામમાં ગયા છે, વેજળપર ગામે ગણેશભાઈ કૈલાના પુત્રો વિરેન્દ્ર અને નિતીનને નંદ પંક્તિના સંતોના હજાર હજાર કીર્તનો કંઠે છે. વેલાભાઈ કૈલાના પુત્રના વંશજ કાંતિભાઈ કૈલા ખાખરેચીમાં વસે છે અને ખુબ સારા સત્સંગી છે, આ કૈલા કુટુંબના ભક્તો હાલ ઘાંટીલા, ઘનશ્યામગઢ વેજળપર વગેરે ગામોમાં પણ વસે છે. સદગુરુ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામી એ આ મુકતભક્તોનું આ ભક્તચિંતામણી ગ્રંથમાં ૧૧૭ કડી ૨૫મા ચિંતવતા લખ્યું છે કે…

खाखरेची के वेलाभाई और वालाभाई कैला
सत्संग के इतिहास में अत्यंत प्रसिद्ध खाखरेची गाँव गुजरात के माळिया-मियाणा तालुका में स्थित है। खाखरेची गाँव के निवासी मुख्यतः कृषि, कृषि-मजदूरी और पशुपालन आदि करते हैं।
एक बार प्रातःकाल के समय श्रीजी महाराज कच्छ की ओर से अपने पार्षदों के साथ घोड़ों पर सवार होकर पधार रहे थे। उस समय खाखरेची की सीमा में गाँव के पटेल वेलाभाई कैला और वालाभाई कैला अपने खेत-वाड़ी में रात बिताने (रातवासा) के पश्चात् घर लौट रहे थे। मार्ग में दोनों भाइयों ने श्रीहरि और पार्षद भक्तों के दर्शन किए। दोनों ने थोड़ी दूरी से ही सभी घुड़सवारों को आदरपूर्वक ‘राम-राम’ किया। उस समय श्रीजी महाराज ने पूर्वजन्म के इन दोनों मुमुक्षु जीवों को उनके नाम लेकर पुकारा! दोनों को बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ और श्रीजी महाराज की अमृतमयी मधुर वाणी सुनकर उनका अंतःकरण तृप्त व शीतल हो गया तथा हृदय में परम आनंद छा गया। उस समय दोनों भाई भगवान स्वामिनारायण को पहचानते नहीं थे; उनकी दृष्टि में वे कोई अज्ञात पथिक थे। फिर भी उस दिव्य और मनोहर मूर्ति के दर्शन कर वे भावविभोर होकर बोले, “आप जैसे दिव्य पुरुष को हमने आज तक कभी नहीं देखा; आप कौन हैं?” तब श्रीहरि मंद-मंद मुस्कराते हुए बोले, “हमारे जैसे तो केवल हम ही हैं!” इस प्रकार श्रीहरि ने मर्मभरे वचनों में अपने परब्रह्म स्वरूप का संकेत दिया। श्रीहरि के इन वचनों से दोनों भाइयों के हृदय में प्रेम की अटूट ग्रंथि बँध गई। वे दोनों भाई भी प्रभु और पार्षदों के साथ बातें करते-करते गाँव की ओर चल पड़े।
गाँव के निकट पहुँचने पर दोनों भाइयों ने श्रीहरि और पार्षदों से अत्यंत आग्रहपूर्वक निवेदन किया कि वे उनके घर पधारकर प्रातःकालीन कलेवा (शिरामण/नाश्ता) ग्रहण करें। श्रीजी महाराज ने कहा, “हम यहाँ गाँव के तालाब के किनारे थोड़ी देर विश्राम करते हैं। आपके घर में जो भी भोजन तैयार हो, वही लेकर आ जाइए; हम यहीं आरोग लेंगे और फिर अपने मार्ग पर आगे बढ़ेंगे।” इतना कहकर महाराज समस्त पार्षद-भक्तों के साथ खाखरेची गाँव के तालाब पर रुके। पार्षदों ने घोड़ों को जल पिलाया और सभी तालाब के तट पर बैठ गए।
कणबी कुल में कैला उपनाम, प्रसिद्ध हुए वेला-वाला नाम..! भगवान संग होकर चले राह, पूछे कुशल-क्षेम के भाव..! नाम पुकारकर बुलाया नाथ, पादर तक संग आए साथ..! सुनी प्रभु की मधुर वाणी जब, हर्षित हुए नयन-हिय तब..! हाथ जोड़ प्रेम से बोले बात, आप समान न देखा कोई तात..! मर्म वचन बोले महाराज, हम जैसे हम ही हैं आज..!
श्रीजी महाराज पार्षदों सहित खाखरेची गाँव के तालाब की पाल पर विराजे। उधर वेलाभाई और वालाभाई दोनों भाई घर पहुँचे। उनके घर में प्रातःकालीन कलेवे के लिए बाजरे के रोटले बने रखे थे। घर में दुधारू भैंसें थीं, अतः दही के बड़े-बड़े मटके (दौना) भरे हुए थे। दही से घी बनाना होता था, इसलिए घर की स्त्रियाँ यदि किसी को दही देतीं, तो ऊपर की मलाई उतारकर ही देती थीं; स्त्रियों को दही की मलाई अत्यंत प्रिय होती है, यह स्वाभाविक ही है। इसी कारण घर की महिलाओं ने दही देने में आनाकानी की। परंतु इन दोनों मुक्तात्माओं ने तो श्रीहरि को जिमाने के लिए रोटलों का पूरा ढेर और दही का भरा हुआ पूरा मटका ही उठा लिया और चल पड़े…!
किसे देना है? बोली वह नारी, प्रभु पधारे हैं यहाँ सुखकारी..! यह सुनते ही उसी क्षण ततखेव, मुख से बोले कटु वचन भेव..! देनी हो तो छाछ दी जाए, मटके से दही न लिया जाए..! गाँव लुटे या दही-भांड टूटे, दोनों का पाप समान ही छूटे..! इसलिए मैं दही न दूँगी आज, क्रुद्ध हुई वह घर की नार..! भक्त बोले: मटके से नहीं निकालना दही, पाप मोल क्यों लेना सही? पूरा मटका ही उठा लिया धाम, चल दिए ले प्रभु के काम..!
घर की स्त्रियों ने दही का भरा मटका ले जाने का कड़ा विरोध किया और रोकने का पूरा प्रयास किया, किंतु प्रभु-प्रेम में मग्न वेलाभाई और वालाभाई तो रोटले और दही लेकर तालाब पर पहुँच गए। श्रीजी महाराज और साथ के सभी भक्तों को खाखरेची गाँव के तालाब की पाल पर दोनों भाइयों ने परम प्रेम और भाव से रोटले और दही का भोजन कराया। थोड़ी देर बाद श्रीहरि पार्षदों सहित पुनः घोड़ों पर सवार होकर आगे प्रस्थान कर गए। कालांतर में संतों के पावन सत्संग से दोनों भाई एकांतिक सत्संगी बने। - (पु.च.प्र. गुच्छ ६ पुष्प ७४)
जिस स्थान पर श्रीजी महाराज और पार्षदों ने प्रातःकाल रोटला और दही का कलेवा किया था, उस दिव्य प्रसंग की स्मृति में खाखरेची के तालाब के किनारे माळिया के राजा श्रीमोडजी ठाकोर ने विचरण करते संतों के मार्गदर्शन में एक सुंदर छतरी बनवाकर श्रीहरि के पवित्र चरणारविंद पधराए थे। कालान्तर में वह प्रसादी की छतरी अत्यंत जीर्ण हो गई थी, इसलिए उस प्रसादी छतरी और चरणारविंद को तालाब के किनारे से लाकर गाँव के मंदिर में प्रतिष्ठित कर दिया गया।
वालाभाई कैला के वंशज खाखरेची से विभिन्न गाँवों में जाकर बसे। इन अनन्य भक्तों ने भगवान स्वामिनारायण को अत्यंत प्रेम से जिमाया था, उसी के फलस्वरूप श्रीजी महाराज ने उनके वंश में कई दिव्य मुक्तों को भेजा! वेजलपर गाँव में निवास करने वाले उनके वंशज इस प्रकार हैं: वालाभाई के पुत्र रूड़ाभाई, उनके पुत्र रूगनाथभाई, उनके पुत्र मूलजीभाई, उनके पुत्र नाथाभाई और उनके पुत्र झवेरभाई हुए।
झवेरभाई के तीन पुत्रों में से एक पुत्र ने साधु दीक्षा ग्रहण की, जो श्री स्वामिनारायण गुरुकुल राजकोट में संतों के पूज्य गुरु पद पर प्रतिष्ठित परम पूज्य देवकृष्णदासजी स्वामी हैं। वे संपूर्ण संप्रदाय में साधु-गुणों के शिरोमणि, परम सरल और अखंड भगवान का स्मरण रखने वाले महान संत हैं। उनके पूर्वाश्रम के भाई भूधरभाई भी परम निष्ठावान भक्त थे, जो बहुत सेवा-भक्ति करके अक्षरधाम सिधारे। वेजलपर गाँव में गणेशभाई कैला के पुत्र वीरेंद्र और नितिन को नंद-पदवी के संतों के सहस्रों कीर्तन कंठस्थ हैं।
वेलाभाई कैला के पुत्र के वंशज कांतिभाई कैला खाखरेची में निवास करते हैं और अत्यंत समर्पित सत्संगी हैं। इस कैला परिवार के भक्त वर्तमान में घाटीला, घनश्यामगढ़, वेजलपर आदि गाँवों में भी निवास करते हैं।
सद्गुरु निष्कुलानंद स्वामी ने इन परम मुक्त भक्तों का स्मरण करते हुए ‘भक्तचिंतामणि’ ग्रंथ (प्रकरण ११७, कड़ी २५) में लिखा है: वेला और वाला कणबी कहलाए, खाखरेची के सच्चे भक्त कहाए..! नंद, द्विजराम आदि अनन्य भक्त जान, वेजलका गाँव में जिनका वास प्रमाण..!"

Velabhai and Valabhai Kaila of Khakhrechi
Renowned in the annals of Satsang history, the village of Khakhrechi is situated in the Maliya-Miyana taluka of Gujarat. The people of Khakhrechi are predominantly engaged in farming, agricultural labor, and animal husbandry.
Once, early in the morning, Shriji Maharaj was traveling on horseback from the direction of Kutch, accompanied by His parshads. At that hour, Patel Velabhai Kaila and Valabhai Kaila of Khakhrechi were returning home from their orchard after spending the night guarding the crops. On the path, both brothers beheld the divine darshan of Shri Hari and His accompanying devotees. From a short distance, they warmly greeted the riders with a traditional “Ram-Ram.” At that moment, Shriji Maharaj called out to both of these virtuous seekers from past births by their personal names! They were astonished, and hearing Shriji Maharaj’s sweet, divine voice brought immense peace to their inner hearts, filling them with boundless spiritual joy. At that time, neither brother knew Bhagwan Swaminarayan; in their eyes, He was simply a majestic traveler. Yet, captivated by His mesmerizing divine persona, they said, “We have never seen anyone like You before; who are You?” Shri Hari smiled gently and replied with profound subtlety, “There is none like Us—for We are the only One!” Through these meaningful words, Shri Hari hinted at His supreme divine status. These words formed an unbreakable bond of devotion in the hearts of both brothers. Conversing happily, they walked alongside the holy company toward the village.
As they neared the village, the brothers earnestly pleaded with Shri Hari and the parshads to visit their home for morning breakfast (shiraman). Shriji Maharaj said, “We will rest for a while by the village pond. Bring whatever food is already prepared at your home; we will take our meal here and then resume our journey.” Saying this, Maharaj and the parshad-devotees stopped at the Khakhrechi pond. The parshads watered the horses, and all sat along the embankment.
In the Kanbi lineage of Kaila renown, Famous were brothers Vela and Vala in town..! The Lord walked beside them along the way, Enquiring of their well-being in a loving way..! Calling their names, the Master drew near, Walking together to the village outskirts so dear..! Hearing the sweet words of the Divine, Rejoiced their eyes and hearts benign..! With folded hands and devotion true, They said, ‘Nowhere have we seen anyone like You!’ Hearing this, Maharaj smiled with mystic art: ‘None exists like Us, for We are set apart!’
While Shriji Maharaj and the parshads rested on the banks of the pond, Velabhai and Valabhai hurried home. Freshly baked millet breads (rotlas) were already prepared for the morning meal. Because they owned milch buffaloes, large earthen pots were full of rich, fresh curd. The women of the household were preserving the curd to churn for clarified butter (ghee). Traditionally, if curd was offered to anyone, women would give it only after skimming off the top layer of rich cream (tar), as the cream was especially cherished by them. Accordingly, the women objected to giving away the curd. However, these two liberated souls, determined to feed Shri Hari, picked up the entire stack of rotlas and the whole earthen pot of fresh curd, and began walking out!
“To whom do you wish to give it?” asked the lady, “God Himself has arrived right here!” said they, steady..! Hearing this, in that very moment she spoke, Harsh and bitter words from her lips broke..! ‘If you wish to give, give buttermilk instead, From the curd-pot, curd must never be shed! Ransacking a village or breaking the curd-vessel fine, Both bear equal sin by tradition’s line! Hence, I shall not part with the curd today!’ Fuming with anger, she turned them away..! They said: ‘From the pot, no curd shall be ladled apart, Why incur any sin or break your heart? The whole vessel itself we shall now take!’ And lifted the entire pot for the Lord’s sake..!
The women of the house fiercely opposed taking the entire pot of curd and tried their best to stop them. But brimming with love for the Lord, Velabhai and Valabhai carried the rotlas and the entire vessel of curd directly to the pond. On the peaceful banks of the Khakhrechi pond, they lovingly served the hot rotlas and fresh curd to Shriji Maharaj and all the accompanying devotees. After dining, Shri Hari mounted His horse alongside His parshads and continued on His journey. In due course, through the divine association of holy sadhus, both brothers became staunch, ekantik satsangis. (Purushottam Charitra Prakash, Gucch 6, Pushpa 74)
At the sacred spot on the banks of the Khakhrechi pond where Maharaj and His parshads enjoyed the rotlas and curd, King Modji Thakor of Maliya, guided by traveling sadhus, erected a beautiful memorial chhatri (canopy) enshrining the holy footprints (charanarvind) of Shriji Maharaj. Over the decades, that sanctified chhatri became dilapidated, so the chhatri along with the charanarvind was respectfully relocated from the pond’s bank to the village temple.
Descendants of Valabhai Kaila later settled in various villages. Because these devoted ancestors had lovingly fed Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Maharaj blessed their lineage by sending great liberated souls into their family! Among them, his descendants living in the village of Vejalpar are as follows: Valabhai’s son was Rudabhai, followed by Rugnathbhai, Muljibhai, Nathabhai, and Zaverbhai.
Of Zaverbhai’s three sons, one received sadhu initiation: Param Pujya Devkrushnadasji Swami, the revered spiritual guru and head of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot. He is celebrated throughout the entire Sampradaya as the crest-jewel of saintly virtues, embodying profound humility and uninterrupted remembrance of God. His brother from his purvashram, Bhudharbhai, was also a noble devotee who performed immense devotional service and departed to Akshardham. In Vejalpar, Ganeshbhai Kaila’s sons, Virendra and Nitin, know by heart over a thousand sacred kirtans composed by the Nand-status paramhansas.
Kantibhai Kaila, a descendant of Velabhai Kaila’s son, resides in Khakhrechi and is a dedicated satsangi. Devotees of this Kaila lineage currently reside in villages such as Ghantila, Ghanshyamgadh, Vejalpar, and others.
Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami commemorated these elevated souls in the sacred scripture Bhaktachintamani (Prakaran 117, verse 25): “Vela and Vala of Kanbi descent, True devotees of Khakhrechi, heaven-sent..! Devotees steadfast, Nand and Dvijram, Holy souls dwelling in Vejalka dham..!”
