ગઢપુરમાં વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીનો અમર ઉપદેશ: ‘સૌ વર રાખજો વર!’
એકવખત જાળિયા અને ઉપલેટા ગામનો મોટો યાત્રાસંઘ જૂનાગઢ પધાર્યો. સૌ હરિભક્તોએ શ્રી રાધારમણદેવનાં ભાવપૂર્વક દર્શન કર્યાં અને સભામંડપની થાંભલી પાસે બિરાજતા સદગુરુ ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીના ચરણે બેસી સંત-સમાગમ કર્યો. સ્વામીએ સૌને બે દિવસ પ્રેમથી રોક્યા અને અમૃતમય કથાવાર્તા તેમજ દર્શનનો દિવ્ય લાભ આપ્યો. વિદાય વેળાએ સંઘના ભક્તો સ્વામી પાસે રજા લેવા આવ્યા અને કહ્યું, “સ્વામી! અમે અહીંથી ગઢપુર શ્રી ગોપીનાથજી મહારાજનાં દર્શન કરવા જઈ રહ્યા છીએ.” ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામી ઘણા રાજી થયા અને સૌને ભલામણ કરી: “ગઢપુર જાઓ ત્યારે સૌ દેવ અને પ્રસાદીનાં સ્થાનોનાં દર્શન કરી લક્ષ્મીવાડીમાં વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીને મારા ‘જય નારાયણ’ કહેજો અને તેમની પાસે બેસી સત્સંગનો વિશેષ લાભ લેજો!”
સંઘ જૂનાગઢથી ગઢપુર પહોંચ્યો. પવિત્ર ઘેલા નદીમાં સ્નાન કરી શ્રી ગોપીનાથજી મહારાજ તેમજ શ્રીહરિનાં સર્વે સ્મૃતિસ્થાનોનાં ભાવવિભોર દર્શન કર્યાં. ત્યારબાદ સૌ લક્ષ્મીવાડીએ પધાર્યા. ત્યાં વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીનાં દર્શન થતાં સૌએ તેમને સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત્ પ્રણામ કર્યા અને ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીના સ્નેહભર્યા ‘જય સ્વામિનારાયણ’ પાઠવી રાજીપો લીધો. ભક્તોએ હાથ જોડી કહ્યું: “સ્વામી! જૂનાગઢમાં ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામીએ અમને આપની પાસે કથાવાર્તા સાંભળવાની આજ્ઞા કરી છે, માટે અમને કંઈક દિવ્ય ઉપદેશ આપો!”
વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીએ નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીની ઓરડી પાસેના ઓટલે બેસતાં અત્યંત ટૂંકમાં સૂત્રાત્મક વચન કહ્યું: “ભાઈઓ! સૌ વર રાખજો વર!” ભક્તો આશ્ચર્યમાં પડ્યા અને વિનંતી કરી: “સ્વામી! આ ‘વર રાખજો વર’ વાળી વાત જરા વિસ્તારે સમજાવો તો અમને સમજાય!”
ત્યારે વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીએ હસીને એક સુંદર દ્રષ્ટાંત આપ્યું: “એક નગરમાં કોઈ ધનાઢ્ય શેઠે પોતાના દીકરાના લગ્નમાં જાન જોડતી વખતે માત્ર ઉતાવળા અને ઉત્સાહી યુવાનોને જ નોતરું દીધું. વહેલી સવારે ભળભાંખળે જાન ગાડાં જોડીને વેવાઈના ગામે જવા નીકળી. માર્ગમાં થોડે દૂર જતાં વરરાજાને લઘુશંકા જવું હતું, એટલે તેણે પોતાનું ગાડું કેડામાંથી બાજુએ લઈ ઊભું રખાવ્યું. પરંતુ પાછળ આવતા અવિચારી યુવાનો તો વરરાજાની દરકાર કર્યા વિના પોતપોતાનાં ગાડાં દોડાવી આગળ નીકળી ગયા!
વરરાજાએ નજર કરી તો સાથે કોઈ ન મળે! તેને ભારે ક્રોધ ચડ્યો. તેણે ગાડાવાળાને ખીજાઈને કહ્યું: ‘આ સૌ મને પરણાવવા નીકળ્યા છે કે પોતાની મોજ માણવા? મારી બે ઘડી રાહ જોવાનીય કોઈને ધીરજ ન રહી! મને જ રસ્તામાં પડતો મૂકીને ભાગી ગયા! મારું ગાડું પાછું ઘેર વાળી લે, મારે હવે પરણવું જ નથી!’ વરરાજો તો રીસાઈને ઘેર પાછો આવીને બેસી ગયો!
બીજી તરફ, જાનૈયાઓ બપોર ચડતાં વેવાઈના ગામે પહોંચ્યા. વૈશાખ મહિનાનો કાળઝાળ તાપ હતો, એટલે સૌ તરસથી વ્યાકુળ થયેલા. વેવાઈએ જાનના સત્કાર માટે સાકર-ગુલાબનાં ઠંડાં શરબત કરાવી રાખેલાં. વેવાઈએ કહ્યું: ‘પહેલાં વરરાજાને શરબત પિવડાવીએ, પછી જ જાનૈયાઓને પીરસાય!’ તપાસ કરી તો ખબર પડી કે જાનમાં વરરાજો તો આવ્યો જ નથી! વર વિનાની જાન જોઈ વેવાઈ પક્ષે મોં મચકોડ્યું અને શરબત તો બાજુએ રહ્યું, પાણીનો કળશોય ન આપ્યો! સૌ જાનૈયા ભૂખ્યા-તરસ્યા શરમિંદા થઈ નીચા મોઢે પાછા વળ્યા!
આમ, આધ્યાત્મિક સાધનામાં પણ ‘વર’ને ઠેકાણે સાક્ષાત્ ભગવાન શ્રીહરિને સર્વોપરી રાખજો! જો ઈષ્ટદેવ ભગવાન કેન્દ્રમાં હશે તો જ તમામ ભક્તિ, તપ, સાધના અને નિયમો સફળ થશે. જેમ વર વિનાની જાન નકામી છે, પુત્ર વિનાનું પારણું નકામું છે, અને મીઠા વગરનું ભોજન સ્વાદહીન છે, તેમ સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણપુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાન વગરની તમામ ક્રિયાઓ નિષ્ફળ નીવડે છે. માટે કોઈ અજ્ઞાની જીવોના રવાડે ચડ્યા વિના સાક્ષાત્ સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનને જ સર્વસ્વ માનજો!”
વિધાત્રાનંદ સ્વામીએ આ માર્મિક દ્રષ્ટાંત દ્વારા સૌ હરિભક્તોના અંતરમાં શ્રીજીમહારાજના પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમપણાનો અચળ નિશ્ચય કરાવી દીધો.

गढ़पुर में विधात्रानंद स्वामी का अमर उपदेश: ‘सदा दूल्हे को केंद्र में रखना!’
एक समय जाळिया और उपलेटा गाँव का एक विशाल तीर्थ-संघ जूनागढ़ पहुँचा। सभी भक्तों ने श्री राधारमणदेव के दर्शन किए और सभामंडप के स्तंभ के समीप विराजमान सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के पावन चरणों में बैठकर सत्संग लाभ प्राप्त किया। स्वामी ने सभी को दो दिन प्रेमपूर्वक रोका और दिव्य कथामृत का पान कराया। प्रस्थान के समय भक्तों ने स्वामी से आज्ञा माँगते हुए कहा, “स्वामी! हम यहाँ से गढ़पुर श्री गोपीनाथजी महाराज के दर्शनार्थ जा रहे हैं।” गुणातीतानंद स्वामी अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और कहा: “गढ़पुर जाकर देव तथा प्रसादी के समस्त स्थानों के दर्शन करने के उपरांत, लक्ष्मीवाड़ी में विधात्रानंद स्वामी को हमारा ‘जय नारायण’ कहना और उनके सान्निध्य में बैठकर विशेष सत्संग लाभ लेना!”
संघ जूनागढ़ से गढ़पुर पहुँचा। पवित्र घेला नदी में स्नान कर श्री गोपीनाथजी महाराज तथा श्रीहरि के सभी स्मृति-स्थानों के दर्शन किए। तत्पश्चात सभी लक्ष्मीवाड़ी पहुँचे। वहाँ विधात्रानंद स्वामी के दर्शन पाकर सभी ने उन्हें साष्टांग दंडवत प्रणाम किया और गुणातीतानंद स्वामी का स्नेहसिक्त ‘जय स्वामीनारायण’ संदेश सुनाकर उनका आशीर्वाद प्राप्त किया। भक्तों ने प्रार्थना की: “स्वामी! जूनागढ़ में गुणातीतानंद स्वामी ने हमें आपके मुखारविंद से ज्ञान-उपदेश श्रवण करने का निर्देश दिया है, अतः हमें कोई कल्याणकारी उपदेश दीजिए!”
विधात्रानंद स्वामी ने निष्कुलानंद स्वामी की कुटिया के ओटले पर बैठते हुए अत्यंत संक्षिप्त सूत्र में कहा: “भाइयो! सदा वर (दूल्हे) को संभालकर रखना!” भक्त विस्मित होकर बोले: “स्वामी! इस गूढ़ सूत्र को तनिक विस्तार से समझाइए ताकि इसका मर्म हमारी समझ में आ सके!”
तब विधात्रानंद स्वामी ने मुस्कुराते हुए एक सुंदर दृष्टांत दिया: “किसी नगर में एक धनी सेठ ने अपने पुत्र के विवाह में केवल चंचल और उतावले युवकों को ही बारात में आमंत्रित किया। प्रातःकाल बारात बैलगाड़ियों में बैठकर वधू के गाँव की ओर प्रस्थान कर गई। मार्ग में कुछ दूरी जाने पर दूल्हे को लघुशंका लगी, अतः उसने अपनी गाड़ी पगडंडी से एक ओर रोक ली। किंतु पीछे आ रहे उतावले नवयुवक दूल्हे की परवाह किए बिना अपनी-अपनी गाड़ियाँ तेजी से आगे दौड़ा ले गए!
जब दूल्हे ने देखा कि उसके साथ कोई नहीं रुका, तो उसे भारी क्रोध आया। उसने गाड़ीवान से कहा: ‘यह सब मुझे ब्याहने निकले हैं या अपनी मनमानी करने? मुझसे आगे निकल गए और मेरी दो घड़ी प्रतीक्षा भी न की! मेरी गाड़ी तुरंत घर मोड़ लो, मुझे विवाह ही नहीं करना!’ दूल्हा तो रूठकर घर वापस आ गया!
उधर, दोपहर को बाराती वधू के गाँव पहुँचे। वैशाख मास की भीषण ग्रीष्म ऋतु थी और बाराती प्यास से व्याकुल थे। समधी ने स्वागत हेतु गुलाब और शक्कर का शीतल शर्बत तैयार रखा था। समधी ने कहा: ‘पहले दूल्हे को शर्बत पिलाएँगे, तत्पश्चात ही बारात को परोसा जाएगा!’ जब देखा गया तो पता चला कि बारात में दूल्हा तो आया ही नहीं! बिना दूल्हे की बारात देखकर वधू पक्ष ने मुँह फेर लिया और शर्बत तो दूर, पीने का सादा पानी भी न दिया! समस्त बाराती लज्जित, भूखे और प्यासे ही उल्टे पाँव लौट आए!
इसी प्रकार, अपनी आध्यात्मिक साधना में ‘वर’ (दूल्हे) के स्थान पर साक्षात् पूर्णपुरुषोत्तम भगवान श्रीहरि को ही सर्वोपरि रखना! यदि परमात्मा केंद्र में हैं, तभी समस्त भक्ति, तप, सेवा और नियम सार्थक होते हैं। जैसे दूल्हे के बिना बारात व्यर्थ है, संतान के बिना पालना व्यर्थ है, और नमक के बिना भोजन स्वादहीन है, वैसे ही साक्षात् भगवान के बिना समस्त बाह्य आडंबर निष्फल हैं। अतः किसी भटके हुए गुरु के पीछे भागने के स्थान पर साक्षात् भगवान स्वामीनारायण को ही अपना सर्वस्व मानना!”
विधात्रानंद स्वामी के इस सारगर्भित दृष्टांत ने सभी भक्तों के अंतःकरण में श्रीहरि की अनन्य उपासना को दृढ़ता से अंकित कर दिया।

Vidhatranand Swami’s Immortal Maxim in Gadhpur: ‘Keep the Bridegroom at the Center!’
Once, a large congregation of pilgrims from the villages of Jaliya and Upleta arrived in Junagadh. After receiving the divine darshan of Shri Radha Raman Dev, they sat at the feet of Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami beside the pillared assembly hall to absorb spiritual discourses. Swami affectionately hosted them for two days, showering them with scriptural wisdom. As they prepared to depart, the pilgrims requested Swami’s permission, mentioning: “Swami, we are now proceeding to Gadhpur for the holy darshan of Shri Gopinathji Maharaj.” Overjoyed, Gunatitanand Swami advised them: “When you reach Gadhpur, after bathing in the holy rivers and sanctifying yourselves at the sacred sites, visit Vidhatranand Swami in Lakshmi Vadi. Convey my loving ‘Jai Narayan’ to him and sit attentively to drink in his spiritual discourses!”
The group reached Gadhada, bathed in the sacred waters of the Ghela River, and reverently visited the sanctums of Shri Gopinathji Maharaj and Shreehari’s historic memorial sites. They then walked to Lakshmi Vadi. Upon meeting Sadguru Vidhatranand Swami, they prostrated in deep humility, conveying Gunatitanand Swami’s affectionate greetings. The devotees pleaded: “Swami! Gunatitanand Swami specifically instructed us to seek your spiritual counsel; please bless us with an enlightening discourse!”
Sitting upon the raised veranda near Sadguru Nishkulanand Swami’s historic room, Vidhatranand Swami uttered a cryptic aphorism: “Brothers! Always keep the bridegroom (Var) at the center!” Puzzled by this unusual phrase, the pilgrims requested: “Revered Swami, please elaborate upon this metaphor so that we may comprehend its deeper spiritual significance!”
Smiling warmly, Vidhatranand Swami narrated an instructive parable: “In a certain town, a wealthy merchant invited only impatient and frivolous youths to accompany his son’s wedding procession (jaan). At dawn, the caravan of bullock carts departed toward the bride’s village. A few miles along the country road, the bridegroom needed to relieve himself, so he had his cart pull aside. However, the reckless young companions in the following carts, eager to reach the feast, sped past him without paying the slightest attention!
Looking around and finding himself completely abandoned on the trail, the bridegroom was deeply offended. In indignation, he commanded his driver: ‘Are these fools attending this procession to celebrate my wedding or merely to indulge themselves? They could not even spare two moments to wait for me! Turn the cart around immediately; I refuse to marry!’ And he returned home.
Meanwhile, the hungry procession reached the bride’s village under the blistering sun of Vaishakh. The host family had prepared chilled rose sherbet to welcome the guests. However, etiquette dictated: ‘First, the sherbet must be served to the bridegroom, and only then to the wedding party!’ Upon looking for the groom, they discovered that the procession had arrived without him! Disgusted by a groomless wedding procession, the hosts refused to serve even a single cup of water. Humiliated, parched, and starving, the empty-handed guests were forced to return home in shame!
In precisely the same manner, in all your spiritual endeavors, keep the Supreme Lord Shreehari at the very center as the true ‘Bridegroom’ (Var)! If the Lord is kept paramount, all your devotion, penance, scriptural study, and vows bear ultimate fruit. Just as a marriage procession without the groom is ridiculous, a cradle without a child is meaningless, and food without salt is tasteless—so too are all religious rituals empty without constant, conscious remembrance of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Never surrender your devotion to ignorant teachers; hold fast to Purna Purushottam Bhagwan as your sole all-in-all!”
Through this unforgettable allegory, Vidhatranand Swami firmly anchored the conviction of supreme devotion to Bhagwan Swaminarayan in the hearts of all the pilgrims.
