બળદીયાના રતનજી અને વાલો પટેલનો નિશ્ચય
કચ્છદેશના બળદીયા ગામના કૃષ્ણજી ના દિકરાનુ નામ રતનજી હતું. બાપ-દિકરા બંને શ્રીહરિના આશ્રિત થયા એ એના ગામના દ્વેષીઓને ગમ્યું નહી. પોતે પોતાના પરિવાર સાથે શ્રીહરિના દર્શને ગઢપુર ગયા. શ્રીહરિની એ માધુરીમુરત ના દરશન થતા જ એમના ફોઇ ને બેનને દિવ્યઅનૂભુતિ થઇને સંસાર ઝેર જેવો થઇ ગયો. એમના ફોઇ અને બેન બેઉ ત્યાજ મોટીબાં પાસે સાંખ્યયોગી થઇને જ રહી ગયા. બાપ-દિકરો બેઉ બળદિયા પાછા આવ્યા. આ સમાચાર મળતા દ્વેષી ગામલોકોને આ ગમ્યું નહી એટલે વિરોધ કર્યો. થોડો સમય તો બેઉએ સહન કર્યું પણ પછે વિરોધ વધતા બેઉ બળદિયા મુકીને કેરા ગામે સદાબાં પાસે રહેવા આવતા રહ્યા.
વરહવળોટ બાપદિકરો કેરા ગામના સંઘ સાથે ફરીને શ્રીહરિના દર્શને ગઢપુર પધાર્યા એટલે રતનજી શ્રીજીમહારાજના દર્શન કરવા અક્ષરઓરડીએ સૌ સાથે ગયા. દંડવત કરીને પગે લાગીને સામા બેઠા એટલે શ્રીહરિએ કુશળ સમાચાર પુછયા ને કહ્યું કે તમે તમારું વતન નુ ગામ બળદિયા છોડીને તમે કેરા ગામે રહેવા કેમ આવ્યા? ત્યારે રતનજી બધી માંડીને વાત્ય કરીને દ્વેષીઓનો ઉપદ્રવ કહ્યો. ભક્તવત્સલ શ્રીહરિ હસતા હસતા બોલ્યા કે ભગત..! એ તમારો વિરોધ કરનારા તમારા ગામના જ લોકો તમને પાછા બોલાવે તો તમે તમારા ગામ રહેવા જાઓ કે નહી? પેલા તો રતન ભગતે ખીજના લીધે ના કહી, એ જાણી બીજા ભક્તો કહે કે મહારાજનું તો માની ને તુ રેવા જા…! સૌ સારા વાના થાશે જ..! ત્યારે ભગત સંમત થયા. થોડાદિવસ દર્શન,કથા-સંત સમાગમ કરીને રતનજી સૌ સાથે કેરા પાછા આવ્યા ને બરાબર એજ સમયે કચ્છ દેશમાં ભૂકંપ આવ્યો તે બળદિયા ગામે ઘણા ઘરો પડી ગયા. ગામધણી સૌને કહે કે તમે સૌ તમારા ઘર નવા ચણો..! ત્યાર ગામના લોકો કહે કે ગામના કડીયા કૃષ્ણજીને રતનજી તો તમે વગર વાંકે કનડીને બીજે ગામ રેવા કાઢી મુકયા છે, ગામમાં કોઇ સારા કડીયા નથી તો એમને પાછા બોલાવો. અંતે ગામધણી માન્યો ને કૃષ્ણજી અને રતનજી ને કહે કે ‘તમે ગામમાં રહેજો ને સત્સંગ કરજો ને સાધુને લાવજો… કોઇ અડચણ થશે નહી અમને કાય વાંધો નથી’ એમ કહ્યુ ત્યારે બને માન્યા ને પાછા બળદીયા ગામે રહેવા આવ્યા ને સુખેથી રહેવા લાગ્યા. એમના કટંબ-સંબંધી મા રતનજીના બનેવી વાલો પટેલ પણ સત્સંગના બહુ દ્વેષી હતા. પૃસંગોપાત એ કંકાસ ટંટો કરીને પજવતા. એકદિવસ વાલો પટેલ રાતે પોતે ફળીયા મા ખાટલે સુતા હતા ત્યારે શ્રીહરિએ એમને યમદૂત દેખાડ્યા ને બરાબરીનો મેથીપાક ખવરાવ્યો, એવો ટીંગાટોળી કરીને ધબધબાવ્યા કે પોતાના લૂગડાં બગડી ગયા. યમદૂતો બોલ્યા કે તુ તારા સગા કૃષ્ણજી ને રતનજીનો દ્રોહ કરે છે એનું આ ફળ છે. ત્યારે વાલો પટેલ માફી માંગતા કહે કે મને છોડી દ્યો, આ દુખ ખમી શકાય એવા નથી, કૃપા કરો અને મને ઉપાય બતાવો..! ત્યારે શ્રીહરિએ દર્શન દીધા કે તુ તારા સગા રતનજી પાસે માફી માંગીને વર્તમાન ધરાવીને સત્સંગી થા..! હુ તને અંતકાળે અક્ષરધામ મા તેડી જાઇશ. વાલો પટેલ પાછા દેહ મા આવ્યા ને જાગીને તુરંત નાહી-ધોઇને કૃષ્ણજીને રતનજી પાસે ગયા ને પગે પડીને માફી માંગી. વાલો પટેલ એમના પાસે સત્સંગી થયા ને કહ્યું કે હવે તમે ગઢપુર શ્રીહરિના દર્શને જાઓ ત્યારે તમે મને સાથે લઇ જાજો. ચાર મહીને જ્યારે ફરીથી સંઘ ગઢપુર જાવા તૈયાર થયો ત્યારે એ સંઘ મા વાલો પટેલ પણ સાથે દર્શને આવ્યા. શ્રીહરિના પૃથમ દર્શને જ એમને અંતરમા અનેરી ટાઢક વળી, એમને ભગવાનપણા નો નિશ્ચય થયો ને મનમા થયું કે હવે હુ શીદને સંસારમા કૂટાઇ મરુ..! હવે ફરીને સંસારમા જાવુ જ નથી..! એમ કહીને શ્રીહરિને સાધુ થાવા અરજ કરી. શ્રીહરિએ એમને મહાભાગવતિ દિક્ષા આપીને મુકંદપૃસાદદાસ એવું નામ પાડ્યું.

बलदिया के रतनजी और वालो पटेल का निश्चय
कच्छ देश के बलदिया गाँव के कृष्णजी के सुपुत्र का नाम रतनजी था। पिता और पुत्र दोनों श्रीहरि के आश्रित (सत्संगी) हुए, जो गाँव के सत्संग-विरोधी लोगों को बिल्कुल रास न आया। एक बार वे अपने पूरे परिवार के साथ श्रीहरि के दर्शन करने गढ़पुर गए। वहाँ श्रीहरि के मनमोहक स्वरूप का दर्शन होते ही रतनजी की बुआ और बहन को ऐसी अलौकिक अनुभूति हुई कि उनके लिए यह नश्वर संसार विष के समान तुच्छ हो गया। उनकी बुआ और बहन दोनों वहीं गढ़पुर में मोटीबा के सान्निध्य में सांख्ययोगी बनकर सत्संग-सेवा में रह गईं।
पिता और पुत्र दोनों जब बलदिया वापस लौटे, तो यह समाचार सुनकर गाँव के विरोधी लोगों ने भारी विरोध शुरू कर दिया। कुछ समय तक तो पिता-पुत्र ने यह सब सहन किया, परंतु जब विरोध और प्रताड़ना बहुत बढ़ गई, तो दोनों बलदिया छोड़कर केरा गाँव में परम भक्त सदाबा के आश्रय में रहने चले गए।
एक वर्ष बीतने के बाद, पिता-पुत्र केरा गाँव के भक्तों के संघ के साथ पुनः श्रीहरि के दर्शन हेतु गढ़पुर पधारे। रतनजी सभी के साथ श्रीजी महाराज के दर्शन करने ‘अक्षर ओरी’ पहुँचे। उन्होंने दंडवत प्रणाम किया और चरण स्पर्श कर सामने बैठे। तब श्रीहरि ने कुशलक्षेम पूछी और कहा, “आप अपना पैतृक गाँव बलदिया छोड़कर केरा में रहने क्यों चले गए?” तब रतनजी ने सारी व्यथा सुनाते हुए विरोधियों द्वारा किए गए उपद्रव का वर्णन किया।
भक्तवत्सल श्रीहरि मंद-मंद मुस्कुराते हुए बोले, “भगत! यदि आपका विरोध करने वाले आपके अपने गाँव के लोग ही आपको आदरपूर्वक वापस बुलाएँ, तो क्या आप अपने गाँव रहने जाएँगे या नहीं?” पहले तो रतन भगत ने मन के संकोच और रोष के कारण मना किया। यह जानकर अन्य भक्तों ने समझाया, “महाराज की आज्ञा मानकर तुम्हें अवश्य जाना चाहिए! प्रभु की कृपा से सब मंगल ही होगा!” तब भगत सहर्ष सहमत हो गए।
कुछ दिन गढ़पुर में दर्शन, कथा और संत-समागम का लाभ लेकर रतनजी सभी के साथ केरा लौट आए। ठीक उसी समय कच्छ देश में एक भीषण भूकंप आया, जिससे बलदिया गाँव के कई मकान ध्वस्त हो गए। गाँव के मुखिया (गाम-धणी) ने सभी ग्रामीणों से कहा कि वे अपने-अपने घर पुनः बनाएँ। तब ग्रामवासियों ने कहा, “गाँव के कुशल कारीगर (कड़िया) कृष्णजी और रतनजी को तो आपने बिना किसी अपराध के प्रताड़ित करके दूसरे गाँव भगा दिया है! गाँव में उनके जैसा कोई कुशल कारीगर नहीं है, इसलिए पहले उन्हें आदरपूर्वक वापस बुलाइए।”
अंततः गाँव के मुखिया ने स्वीकार किया और कृष्णजी तथा रतनजी को संदेश भेजा, “आप ससम्मान गाँव में आकर रहिए, निर्भय होकर सत्संग कीजिए और संतों को पधराइए… आपको कोई बाधा नहीं होगी, हमें कोई आपत्ति नहीं है।” इस पर दोनों सहमत होकर पुनः अपने गाँव बलदिया लौट आए और सुखपूर्वक सत्संग करने लगे।
उनके सगे-संबंधियों में रतनजी के बहनोई वालो पटेल भी सत्संग के घोर विरोधी थे। वे आए दिन विवाद और झगड़ा करके उन्हें तंग किया करते थे। एक रात वालो पटेल अपने आँगन में खाट पर सो रहे थे, तभी श्रीहरि ने उन्हें यमदूतों के प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन कराए। यमदूतों ने उनकी जमकर पिटाई की और उन्हें इस तरह प्रताड़ित व भयभीत किया कि उनके वस्त्र तक बिगड़ गए। यमदूतों ने गर्जना करते हुए कहा, “तू अपने निर्दोष संबंधी कृष्णजी और रतनजी जैसे सत्संगियों से द्रोह करता है, यह उसी पाप का फल है!” तब भय से कांपते हुए वालो पटेल क्षमा याचना करते हुए गिड़गिड़ाए, “मुझे छोड़ दो! यह असह्य दुःख मुझसे सहा नहीं जाता! मुझ पर दया करो और इस कष्ट से छूटने का उपाय बताओ!” तब श्रीहरि ने उन्हें दिव्य दर्शन देकर कहा, “तू अपने संबंधी रतनजी के पास जाकर क्षमा माँग, पंच-वर्तमान धारण करके सत्संगी बन! अंतकाल में मैं तुझे स्वयं अक्षरधाम ले जाऊँगा।”
वालो पटेल तुरंत देहभाव में आए। जागते ही वे तुरंत स्नान करके शुद्ध हुए और सीधे कृष्णजी और रतनजी के घर पहुँचे। उनके चरणों में गिरकर उन्होंने अश्रुपूरित नेत्रों से क्षमा माँगी। वालो पटेल ने उनके सान्निध्य में वर्तमान धारण किए और सत्संगी बन गए। उन्होंने प्रार्थना की, “अब जब भी आप गढ़पुर श्रीहरि के दर्शन हेतु जाएँ, तो मुझे भी अपने साथ अवश्य ले चलना।”
चार महीने बाद जब संघ पुनः गढ़पुर जाने के लिए तैयार हुआ, तब उस संघ में वालो पटेल भी दर्शनार्थ साथ गए। गढ़पुर पहुँचकर श्रीहरि के प्रथम दर्शन मात्र से ही उनके हृदय में अपार शांति और शीतलता का अनुभव हुआ। उन्हें श्रीहरि के साक्षात परब्रह्म पुरुषोत्तम स्वरूप का अटल निश्चय हो गया। उनके मन में विचार आया, “अब मैं व्यर्थ ही इस मायावी संसार में क्यों फँसकर रहूँ? अब मुझे इस नश्वर प्रपंच में लौटना ही नहीं है!” यह विचार कर उन्होंने श्रीहरि के चरणों में साधु होने की विनम्र प्रार्थना की। श्रीजी महाराज ने उनकी अनन्य वैराग्यमयी भावना देखकर उन्हें महाभागवती दीक्षा प्रदान की और उनका नाम ‘मुकुंदप्रसाददास’ रखा।

The Conviction of Ratanji and Valo Patel of Baladiya
In the village of Baladiya in the Kutch region, there lived a skilled mason named Krishnaji, whose son was Ratanji. Both father and son took refuge in Shri Hari and embraced Satsang, which greatly displeased the envious opponents of Satsang in their village. Once, the entire family travelled to Gadhpur for the divine darshan of Shri Hari. Upon beholding the captivating and divine form of Shri Hari, Ratanji’s paternal aunt (foi) and sister experienced profound spiritual enlightenment, and worldly life instantly appeared bitter as poison to them. Both the aunt and the sister chose to renounce worldly ties and remained in Gadhpur with Moti Ba as dedicated Sankhyayogi women devotees.
When the father and son returned to Baladiya, the news enraged the intolerant villagers, who launched fierce opposition and persecution against them. For some time, both father and son endured the hostility with patience. However, as the harassment escalated, they decided to leave Baladiya and sought refuge in Kera village under the loving protection of the devout devotee, Sadaba.
A year later, father and son joined the pilgrimage group (sangh) from Kera village and journeyed once more to Gadhpur for Shri Hari’s darshan. Ratanji, along with the other devotees, went to Akshar Ordi to have darshan of Shriji Maharaj. Prostrating reverently and bowing at His holy feet, Ratanji sat before Maharaj. Shri Hari enquired about their well-being and asked, “Why did you leave your native village of Baladiya and come to live in Kera?” Ratanji then narrated the entire ordeal and the hostility of the village opponents.
Smiling gently, the affectionate protector of devotees, Shri Hari, said, “Bhagat! If the very same villagers who opposed you invite you back with respect, will you return to live in your village or not?” Initially, due to the lingering anguish of being wronged, Ratan Bhagat hesitated and said no. Seeing this, fellow devotees urged him, “Respect Maharaj’s wish and agree to return! By the Lord’s grace, everything will turn out for the best!” Convinced by their loving counsel, Bhagat consented.
After spending several days immersed in darshan, spiritual discourses, and holy fellowship with the saints, Ratanji returned to Kera. Precisely during that time, a catastrophic earthquake struck Kutch, causing numerous houses in Baladiya to collapse into ruins. The village chief instructed all the villagers to reconstruct their houses. The villagers replied, “You unjustly harassed our village masons, Krishnaji and Ratanji, and forced them to leave for another village! There are no skilled builders of their caliber here; please call them back.”
The village chief agreed and sent a respectful message to Krishnaji and Ratanji: “Please return to our village and reside here peacefully. You are entirely free to practice Satsang and welcome holy sadhus… No one will cause you any disturbance, and we have no objection whatsoever.” Hearing this, both agreed and happily returned to Baladiya, living in peace and devotion.
Among their relatives, Ratanji’s brother-in-law, Valo Patel, was an ardent opposer of Satsang. Time and again, he would pick quarrels, create strife, and torment them. One night, while Valo Patel was sleeping on a cot in his open courtyard, Shri Hari caused Yamaduts (messengers of death) to appear before him in a terrifying vision. The Yamaduts thrashed him mercilessly and dragged him around with such fury that he soiled his clothes in sheer terror. The Yamaduts roared, “You harbor malice and spite against your pious relatives, Krishnaji and Ratanji! This suffering is the consequence of your sins against the devotees of God!” Trembling uncontrollably, Valo Patel cried out for mercy, “Please spare me! I cannot bear this unbearable agony! Have mercy on me and tell me how I can be saved!” Just then, Shri Hari revealed Himself in divine darshan and said, “Go to your relative Ratanji, beg for his forgiveness, accept the moral vows (vartaman), and become a true Satsangi! At the end of your life, I shall personally guide you to Akshardham.”
Valo Patel regained worldly consciousness in a state of profound shock. He immediately bathed, purified himself, and rushed to the home of Krishnaji and Ratanji. Falling at their feet, he wept and begged for their forgiveness. Valo Patel accepted the sacred vows from them and embraced Satsang wholeheartedly. He pleaded, “Whenever you next travel to Gadhpur for Shri Hari’s darshan, please take me along with you.”
Four months later, when the sangh prepared to depart for Gadhpur, Valo Patel accompanied them. At the very first glance of Shri Hari, an extraordinary, divine solace permeated his soul. He attained absolute conviction in Shri Hari’s supreme divinity. A deep yearning arose in his heart: “Why should I waste my precious life toiling and suffering in the mundane illusions of this ephemeral world? I never wish to return to household life again!” Expressing his burning dispassion, he fervently prayed to Shri Hari to grant him initiation into monkhood. Pleased with his genuine surrender and detachment, Shri Hari bestowed upon him the Mahabhagawati Diksha and named him Swami Mukundprasad-das.
