અમદાવાદમાં એક દરજી હરિભક્ત રહેતા હતા. અમદાવાદ ગાદીના આદિ આચાર્ય શ્રી અયોધ્યાપ્રસાદજી મહારાજ અક્ષરધામ સિધાવ્યા ત્યારે એ દરજી ભક્તે દાઢી-મૂંછ મૂંડાવી શોક પાળ્યો હતો.

અમદાવાદના દરજી ભક્તની ખુમારી અને જ્ઞાતિજનોનું માનમર્દન
અમદાવાદમાં એક દરજી હરિભક્ત રહેતા હતા. અમદાવાદ દેશના આદિ આચાર્ય શ્રી અયોધ્યાપ્રસાદજી મહારાજ અક્ષરધામ સિધાવ્યા ત્યારે એ દરજી ભક્તે પોતાના આધ્યાત્મિક પિતાના વિયોગમાં માથું અને દાઢી-મૂંછ મૂંડાવી શોક પાળ્યો હતો. આ જોઈ તેમના સત્સંગ-દ્વેષી જ્ઞાતિજનોએ તેમની ખૂબ મશ્કરી કરી અને મેણાં-ટોણાં માર્યાં, પરંતુ નિષ્ઠાવાન દરજી ભક્તે કોઈની વાત મનમાં લીધી નહીં.
થોડા સમય પછી તે દરજી ભક્તના પિતાશ્રીનું અવસાન થયું. તેમણે પિતાના શ્રાદ્ધ-કારજ નિમિત્તે યથાશક્તિ ખર્ચ કરી ઉત્તમ મિષ્ટાન્ન બનાવી જ્ઞાતિજનોને જમણવારનું નોતરું આપ્યું. પરંતુ સત્સંગના દ્વેષે ભરાયેલા નાતિલાઓએ એકઠા થઈને જમણવારનો બહિષ્કાર કર્યો અને કોઈ જમવા ન આવ્યા! લાગતા-વળગતા વડીલોએ ઘણી વિનંતી કરી છતાં નાતે નમતું ન આપ્યું.
ત્યારે તે દરજી ભક્તે જ્ઞાતિના પંચ અને મોભાદારો સમક્ષ સિંહ જેવી ખુમારીથી પોકાર કર્યો: “વડીલો! આપણી જ્ઞાતિના લૌકિક વ્યવહારની મર્યાદા ખાતર મેં આપ સૌને ભોજનનું આમંત્રણ આપ્યું હતું. બાકી મારા સાચા પિતા તો સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણપુરુષોત્તમ ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ છે, અને સંપ્રદાયના તમામ સંતો, બ્રહ્મચારીઓ અને હરિભક્તો એ મારું સાચું કુટુંબ છે! જો તમને મારા પિતાના કારજમાં જમવાનો વાંધો હોય તો કોઈ ચિંતા નથી; હું આ બધી જ શુદ્ધ ઘીની મિઠાઈઓ અને રસોઈ મંદિરે મોકલીને પ્રભુના સંતો-ભક્તોને પ્રેમથી જમાડી દઈશ!”
દરજી ભક્તના મુખ પરની આવી નિર્ભય ભક્તિખુમારી અને અડગ નિષ્ઠા જોઈ જ્ઞાતિના પંચના મોભાદારો સ્તબ્ધ થઈ ગયા! તેમને પોતાની સંકુચિતતા અને અન્યાયનું ભાન થયું. પંચના મોટેરાઓએ આગળ આવી હાથ જોડી માફી માંગી, “ભગત! આપની સમજણ અને ભક્તિ સાચી છે. આપ જેવા ભગવદ્ ભક્ત સાથે વિરોધ કરવો એ અમારી મોટી ભૂલ હતી. અમે સૌ નાત વતી ક્ષમા માંગીએ છીએ.” ત્યારબાદ સમગ્ર જ્ઞાતિએ પંક્તિમાં બેસીને પ્રેમપૂર્વક ભોજન લીધું અને તે દરજી ભક્તના સત્સંગની પ્રશંસા કરી.

अहमदाबाद के दरजी भक्त की खुमारी और जाति-अभिमान का दमन
अहमदाबाद में एक परम निष्ठावान दरजी (दर्जी) हरिभक्त निवास करते थे। जब अहमदाबाद गद्दी के प्रथम आचार्य श्री अयोध्याप्रसादजी महाराज अक्षरधाम पधारे, तो उस दरजी भक्त ने अपने परम गुरु एवं आध्यात्मिक पिता के वियोग में सिर और दाढ़ी-मूँछ मुँडवाकर शोक व्यक्त किया। यह देखकर उनके विमुख जाति-भाइयों ने उनका घोर उपहास उड़ाया, किंतु अनन्य भक्त ने उनके तानों की तनिक भी परवाह न की।
कुछ समय पश्चात उन दरजी भक्त के सांसारिक पिता का देहांत हुआ। उन्होंने पिता के श्राद्ध (कारज) पर अपनी सामर्थ्य अनुसार शुद्ध घी की मिठाइयों और भोजन की भव्य व्यवस्था कर समस्त जाति-बिरादरी को निमंत्रण भेजा। किंतु सत्संग-विरोधी जाति के लोगों ने अहंकारवश बहिष्कार कर दिया और कोई भी भोजन हेतु उपस्थित नहीं हुआ।
तब उस दरजी भक्त ने जाति के पंच और प्रमुखों के सम्मुख अडिग खुमारी से कहा, “पंचो! केवल सामाजिक मर्यादा के निर्वहन हेतु मैंने आपको आमंत्रित किया था। वास्तव में तो साक्षात् पूर्णपुरुषोत्तम भगवान स्वामीनारायण ही मेरे परम पिता हैं, और संप्रदाय के समस्त त्यागी संत तथा भक्त ही मेरा वास्तविक परिवार हैं! यदि आपको मेरे घर भोजन करने में आपत्ति है, तो मुझे किसी की खुशामद नहीं करनी; मैं यह संपूर्ण मिष्ठान्न और भोजन मंदिर में भेजकर प्रभु के पावन संतों-भक्तों को तृप्त करूँगा!”
उस भक्त का यह गगनभेदी स्वाभिमान और अटल प्रभु-विश्वास देखकर जाति के प्रमुखों का घमंड क्षण भर में चूर-चूर हो गया! उन्हें अपनी भूल और संकीर्णता पर भारी पश्चात्ताप हुआ। उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर क्षमा माँगी, “भगतजी! आपकी निष्ठा और ईश्वर-भक्ति सर्वोच्च है। हम समस्त जाति की ओर से अपनी भूल स्वीकार करते हैं।” तत्पश्चात संपूर्ण बिरादरी ने पंगत में बैठकर आदरपूर्वक भोजन ग्रहण किया और उस दरजी भक्त की भक्ति का जयघोष किया।

The Devout Tailor of Ahmedabad: Fearless Conviction and Subduing Caste Pride
In Ahmedabad lived a staunch Satsangi belonging to the tailor (Darji) caste. When the first Acharya of the Ahmedabad diocesan seat, Shri Ayodhyaprasadji Maharaj, passed away to Akshardham, the devoted tailor shaved his head, beard, and mustache in solemn mourning for his spiritual preceptor. Narrow-minded caste fellows mocked and ridiculed him relentlessly, but the devotee remained unfazed.
Sometime later, the tailor’s elderly father passed away. In accordance with social duties, the tailor organized a generous memorial feast (karaj), preparing abundant sweets crafted with pure ghee and inviting his entire caste community. Driven by sectarian malice against Satsang, the caste leaders orchestrated a boycott, refusing to attend the memorial feast.
Stepping before the gathering of caste elders with fearless spiritual dignity, the tailor proclaimed: “Elders! I extended this invitation purely out of social courtesy. In truth, Bhagwan Swaminarayan is my eternal Father, and all the holy sadhus, brahmacharis, and devotees of the fellowship are my true family! If you look down upon my hospitality, I have not the slightest regret—I shall pack this entire feast into carts, send it to the temple, and joyfully serve the holy ascetics and servants of God!”
Confronted by his towering spiritual resolve and unyielding conviction, the caste elders were stunned into shame. Recognizing the pettiness of their malice and the purity of his devotion, the elders folded their hands and apologized sincerely: “Bhagat! Your faith is unblemished and genuine. Boycotting a noble devotee of God was our grave error; we ask your pardon on behalf of the entire community.” The entire caste then sat respectfully in rows to partake of the meal, honoring the tailor’s unshakeable faith in God.
