એકવાર શ્રીહરિ ગોંડલ પધાર્યા હતા ને સંગે સદગુરુ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી તથા સંતોભકતો હતા. શહેર થી ઉગમણી તરફ ફુલવાડી મા શ્રીહરિનો ઉતારો હતો.

ગોંડલના વૈરાગી અને શ્રીજી મહારાજની ભવિષ્યવાણી
એકવાર શ્રીહરિ ગોંડલ પધાર્યા હતા ને સંગે સદગુરુ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી તથા સંતોભકતો હતા. શહેર થી ઉગમણી તરફ ફુલવાડી મા શ્રીહરિનો ઉતારો હતો. મોટા વૃક્ષના છાયડે રત્ના ભગત ને ગામના બધા ભક્તો શ્રીહરિ પાસે સભામા બેઠા હતા. એ વખતે એક દેવમુકત વૈરાગી ગામના કેટલાક શેઠિયાઓ ને લઇને શ્રીહરિની સન્મુખ આવ્યો. આ વૈરાગી અભિમાની ને ઉદંડ હોઇ દ્વેષનો માર્યો આવીને અવળી અવળી વાતો કરીને તોછડાઇ કરવા વાગ્યો. શ્રીહરિ વાતો કરતા બંધ થય ગયા. થોડીવાર પછી શ્રીજીમહારાજે મુકતાનંદ સ્વામીને સંકેત કર્યો એટલે સ્વામી સાનમાં સમજીને સત્સંગની વાતો કરવા લાગ્યા. આ વાતો થોડીવાર સાંભળીને પેલો વૈરાગી કહે કે આ સાધુ મુકતાનંદ ની વાત્યુ સીધે સીધી સમજાય છે પણ આ સ્વામિનારાયણની વાતો સમજાતી નથી. તયારે મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી કહે કે એ સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાનની વાતો એમ ઘડીકમા સમજાય એવી નથી, અમે બધાય આ ઘરબાર સંસાર મુકીને બેઠા છઇ તોય અમને એમની વાતો સમજાતી નથી, નિગમ જેને નેતિ નેતિ કહે છે. ચાર વેદો જેનો પાર પામી શકતા નથી, તો આપણી જેવા પામર તો એની વાતોને શેના સમજીએ…! એ દેવમુકત વૈરાગીએ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામીને પૃશ્નો પુછયા સ્વામીએ તો રાજી થતા થકા એના મનના સંકલ્પો પૃમાણે જવાબ દીધા પણ જેવા સ્વામીએ પૃશ્નો પુછયા તો એ ગલ્લા તલ્લા કરવા મંડ્યો ને જવાબ દીધા નહી ને ઉલટાનો બકવા મંડ્યો કે આ તમારું બધુય પાખંડ છેને ઢોંગને આડંબર છે. તમે જગતને છેતરો છો. શ્રીજીમહારાજ મંદ મંદ હસ્યા ને કહે કે જીવની અવળાઇનો પાર નથી. અમારુ પાખંડ છે કે તમારું એ તો છ મહીના મા જ સમય આવ્યે સૌને ખબર પડશે. પેલો દેવમુકત વૈરાગી ને એના ચેલા તો શ્રીહરિના વચન સાંભળતા જ પોતાનું માન ઘવાયું જાણીને ચાલતી પકડી. શ્રીહરિને મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી વગેરે તો બીજેદિવસે ત્યાં થી મોકાખાચર ના વાકીયા થઇને ગઢપુર જાવા સંઘમાં સહુ ચાલી નીકળ્યા. છ એક મહીના વિત્યે એ વૈરાગી બાવો ગામમાં એક ઘરફોડ ચોરીના વાંકમા આવ્યો ને રાજના માણસો એ પકડીને પંચાયત મા રજુ કરતા દિવાને એને જેલ મા નાંખ્યો, પોતાના કાળા કરતૂતો ને પાખંડ ની લોકોને ખબર પડી. શ્રીહરિ સમા કરેલ દ્રોહનું ફળ ભોગવતો થકો જેલમાંજ મરણને શરણ થયો.

गोंडल के वैरागी और श्रीजी महाराज की भविष्यवाणी
एक बार श्रीहरि गोंडल पधारे थे और उनके साथ सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी तथा संत-भक्त थे। नगर की पूर्व दिशा (उगमणी तरफ) स्थित फुलवाड़ी में श्रीहरि का मुकाम (उतारा) था। एक विशाल वृक्ष की छाया में रत्ना भगत तथा गाँव के सभी भक्त श्रीहरि के समीप सभा में बैठे थे।
उस समय देवमुक्त नामक एक वैरागी गाँव के कुछ प्रतिष्ठित श्रेष्ठियों (सेठों) को साथ लेकर श्रीहरि के सम्मुख आया। यह वैरागी अत्यंत अभिमानी और उद्दंड था, अतः ईर्ष्या-द्वेष के वशीभूत होकर वह उल्टी-सीधी बातें करने लगा और अशिष्टता पर उतर आया। यह देखकर श्रीहरि वार्तालाप करना रोक कर मौन हो गए। थोड़ी देर बाद श्रीजी महाराज ने मुक्तानंद स्वामी को संकेत किया, तो स्वामी उनके इशारे को समझकर सत्संग की बातें करने लगे।
थोड़ी देर तक यह वार्ता सुनकर वह वैरागी बोला, “इस साधु मुक्तानंद की बातें तो सीधी-सादी समझ में आती हैं, परंतु इस स्वामीनारायण की बातें समझ में नहीं आतीं।”
तब मुक्तानंद स्वामी ने कहा, “इन स्वामीनारायण भगवान की बातें ऐसे क्षण भर में समझ आने वाली नहीं हैं! हम सब घर-बार और संसार त्याग कर बैठे हैं, फिर भी हम इनकी महिमा और वचनों को पूरी तरह नहीं समझ पाते। निगम (शास्त्र) जिन्हें ‘नेति-नेति’ कहकर पुकारते हैं, चारों वेद जिनका पार नहीं पा सकते, तो हम जैसे पामर जीव उनकी बातों को भला कैसे समझ सकते हैं…!”
इसके बाद उस देवमुक्त वैरागी ने मुक्तानंद स्वामी से कई प्रश्न पूछे। स्वामी ने तो प्रसन्नचित्त होकर उसके मन के संशयों और संकल्पों के अनुसार समाधानकारक उत्तर दिए। परंतु जब स्वामी ने उससे प्रतिप्रश्न किए, तो वह टालमटोल करने लगा और कोई उत्तर न दे सका। उल्टा वह प्रलाप करने लगा कि, “यह सब आपका पाखंड, ढोंग और आडंबर है! आप संसार को ठग रहे हैं।”
श्रीजी महाराज मंद-मंद मुस्कुराए और बोले, “जीव की कुटिलता का कोई पार नहीं है! हमारा पाखंड है या तुम्हारा, यह तो छह महीने में समय आने पर सबको ज्ञात हो जाएगा।”
वह देवमुक्त वैरागी और उसके चेले श्रीहरि के यह वचन सुनते ही अपना मान भंग हुआ जानकर वहाँ से तुरंत चले गए।
अगले दिन श्रीहरि, मुक्तानंद स्वामी आदि सभी संत-भक्त मोका खाचर के वांकिया होते हुए गढ़पुर जाने के लिए संघ के साथ प्रस्थान कर गए।
लगभग छह महीने बीतने पर वह वैरागी बावा गाँव में एक घरफोड़ (सेंधमारी की) चोरी के अपराध में पकड़ा गया। राजदरबार के सैनिकों ने उसे पकड़कर पंचायत में प्रस्तुत किया, जहाँ दीवान ने उसे कारागार में डाल दिया। इस प्रकार उसके काले कारनामों और पाखंड का भंडाफोड़ हो गया तथा जनता के सामने उसकी असलियत आ गई। साक्षात् श्रीहरि के साथ किए गए द्रोह का फल भोगते हुए वह कारागार में ही मृत्यु को प्राप्त हुआ।

The Vairagi of Gondal and the Prophecy of Shriji Maharaj
Once, Shri Hari graced the town of Gondal with His holy presence, accompanied by Sadguru Muktanand Swami, saints, and devotees. Shri Hari was camping in the Fulwadi garden situated on the eastern side of the town. Beneath the cool shade of a large tree, Ratna Bhagat and all the local devotees were seated in an assembly around Shri Hari.
At that time, a Vairagi named Devmukt arrived before Shri Hari, accompanied by a few prominent town merchants. Being proud, arrogant, and filled with spite, this Vairagi began uttering perverse remarks and behaving rudely. Seeing this, Shri Hari stopped conversing and became silent. After a brief pause, Shriji Maharaj subtly gestured to Muktanand Swami. Understanding the hint, Swami began speaking on the glory of Satsang and spiritual wisdom.
After listening for a short while, the Vairagi retorted, “The words of this Sadhu Muktanand are straightforward and easy to understand, but the words of this Swaminarayan cannot be understood at all.”
Upon this, Muktanand Swami replied, “The divine words of Bhagwan Swaminarayan cannot be comprehended in a mere moment! All of us have renounced our homes, families, and worldly life, yet even we cannot fully fathom His divine words. The scriptures describe Him as ‘Neti, Neti’ (not this, not that), and even the four Vedas cannot reach the depths of His greatness. How then can ordinary souls like us comprehend His profound wisdom…!”
The Vairagi Devmukt then posed several questions to Muktanand Swami. Swami joyfully answered each query, resolving the thoughts and doubts in his mind. However, when Swami questioned him in return, the Vairagi began evading and could give no answer. Instead, out of frustration, he began blabbering maliciously, “All of this is merely your hypocrisy, deception, and pretense! You are cheating the world.”
Shriji Maharaj smiled gently and said, “There is no end to the perversity of the jiva. Whether this is our hypocrisy or yours, within six months time will reveal the truth to everyone.”
Hearing these words of Shri Hari and realizing their pride was wounded, the Vairagi Devmukt and his disciples promptly slipped away.
The following day, Shri Hari, Muktanand Swami, and the entire congregation departed from Gondal, traveling via Moka Khachar’s Vankiya on their way to Gadhpur.
About six months later, that same Vairagi was caught red-handed in a burglary in the town. The royal guards apprehended him and presented him before the royal council, where the minister (Diwan) threw him into prison. His wicked deeds and hypocrisy were thus exposed to all the townspeople. Suffering the grave consequences of blaspheming against Supreme Lord Shri Hari, he met his demise while still in prison.
