ગઢપુરમાં જન્માષ્ટમીના ઉત્સવે દંઢાવ્ય દેશથી હરિભક્તોનો સંઘ દર્શને આવ્યો. સૌએ શ્રીહરિને વિસનગરના નાસ્તિક સૂબા લાલજીના ત્રાસની વાત કરી.

વિજાપુરના વજીબાની કસોટી અને શ્રીહરિએ ચરણેથી પીપળો ખસેડ્યાનો પ્રસંગ
ગઢપુરમાં જન્માષ્ટમીના મહોત્સવે ઉત્તર ગુજરાતના દંઢાવ્ય દેશમાંથી હરિભક્તોનો સંઘ દર્શને આવ્યો. તેમણે શ્રીજીમહારાજ સમક્ષ દુઃખ વ્યક્ત કર્યું કે, “મહારાજ! વિસનગરનો સૂબો લાલજી મહા નાસ્તિક અને સત્સંગનો દ્વેષી છે. તે સત્સંગીઓને હેરાન કરે છે અને કહે છે કે જો સ્વામિનારાયણ અહીં આવશે તો તેમને કેદ કરીશ!”
સંઘના ભક્તોએ વધુમાં જણાવ્યું કે એક દિવસ સૂબો વિજાપુર ગામે વજીબાના આંગણામાં ખાટલો ઢળાવીને બેઠો અને વજીબાને ધમકાવવા લાગ્યો કે તમે સ્વામિનારાયણને ભગવાન કેમ માનો છો? વજીબાએ નિર્ભય થઈને કહ્યું કે સ્વામિનારાયણ સાક્ષાત્ પૂર્ણપુરુષોત્તમ નારાયણ છે. ત્યારે ઘમંડી સૂબાએ પડકાર ફેંક્યો: “જો તમારા સ્વામિનારાયણ સાચા ભગવાન હોય, તો તમારા ફળિયામાં ઊભેલો આ વિશાળ પીપળો ખસેડીને તુલસીના ક્યારા પાસે કરી દે અને કૂવાને વચ્ચેથી એકબાજુ કરી દે!” વજીબાએ કહ્યું, “અનંત કોટિ બ્રહ્માંડની રચના કરનારા પ્રભુ માટે આ પીપળો અને કૂવો ખસેડવા એ તો રમત માત્ર છે!”
પોતાના અનન્ય ભક્ત વજીબાની ટેક સાચવવા શ્રીહરિ તે જ રાત્રે ગઢપુરથી કોઈને કહ્યા વિના પગપાળા વિજાપુર જવા નીકળ્યા! મૂળજી બ્રહ્મચારી પણ પાછળ દોડ્યા. મહારાજે એકલા જવાનું કહ્યું છતાં બ્રહ્મચારીજીએ કહ્યું, “જ્યાં કાયા ત્યાં છાયા! જેલમાં જવું પડે તોય હું આપની સાથે જ આવીશ!” ચોથે દિવસે રાત્રે બંને જણા વૈરાગીના વેશે વિજાપુરમાં વજીબાના ઘેર પહોંચ્યા. વજીબાના પતિ ઘેર નહોતા તેથી તેમણે પરપુરુષને ઘરમાં ઉતારો આપવાની ના પાડી. આખરે ઘણી વિનંતી બાદ વજીબાએ ફળિયામાં ખાટલો પાથરી આપ્યો. મહારાજ ખાટલે પોઢ્યા અને બ્રહ્મચારીજી નીચે સૂતા.
મધ્યરાત્રિએ સર્વસમર્થ શ્રીહરિએ પોતાના દિવ્ય ચરણારવિંદ વડે પેલો ઘટાદાર પીપળો હળવેથી ધકેલીને તુલસીના ક્યારા પાસે ખસેડી દીધો અને કૂવો પણ એક તરફ થઈ ગયો! વહેલી સવારે વજીબા જાગે તે પહેલાં જ શ્રીહરિ અને બ્રહ્મચારીજી ત્યાંથી વિદાય થઈ ગયા. સવારે ઊઠીને વજીબાએ જોયું તો પીપળો તુલસીના ક્યારા પાસે ખસેલો હતો! સૂબાનો પડકાર પૂર્ણ થયેલો જોઈ વજીબા સમજી ગયા કે રાત્રે પધારેલા વૈરાગી અન્ય કોઈ નહીં પણ સાક્ષાત્ શ્રીહરિ જ હતા.
વર્ષો પછી જ્યારે વજીબા ગઢપુર દર્શને આવ્યા ત્યારે શ્રીજીમહારાજે સામે ચાલીને પોતાનાં ચરણારવિંદ લાંબાં કરી સ્મિત સાથે કહ્યું, “વજીબા! આ ચરણોને ઓળખો છો? આ એ જ ચરણ છે જેણે તમારા આંગણાનો પીપળો ખસેડ્યો હતો!” વજીબા ગદ્ગદ્ થઈ પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં રડી પડ્યા.

विजापुर की वजीबा की परीक्षा और श्रीहरि द्वारा चरण से पीपल विस्थापन
गढ़पुर में जन्माष्टमी के महापर्व पर उत्तर गुजरात के दंडव्य क्षेत्र से भक्तों का संघ दर्शन हेतु आया। उन्होंने श्रीजी महाराज से व्यथा सुनाई कि विसनगर का सूबा (राज्यपाल) लालजी अत्यंत नास्तिक और सत्संग-विरोधी है। वह सत्संगियों को प्रताड़ित करता है और साधुओं के प्रवेश पर रोक लगाता है।
भक्तों ने बताया कि एक दिन वह सूबा विजापुर गाँव में परमभक्त वजीबा के आँगन में जा धमका और उन्हें धमकाते हुए बोला, “तुम इस स्वामीनारायण को भगवान क्यों मानती हो?” वजीबा ने निर्भय होकर उत्तर दिया, “भगवान स्वामीनारायण साक्षात् परब्रह्म हैं; मैंने पूरी परीक्षा करके ही उनकी शरण ली है।” क्रोधित सूबे ने चुनौती दी: “यदि तुम्हारा स्वामीनारायण सच्चा ईश्वर है, तो तुम्हारे आँगन के इस विशाल पीपल के वृक्ष को खिसकाकर तुलसी के क्यारे के पास कर दे और कुएँ को एक ओर हटा दे!” वजीबा बोलीं, “जो अनंत ब्रह्मांडों के सृजनहार हैं, उनके लिए यह पीपल हिलाना कौन सी बड़ी बात है!”
अपनी अनन्य भक्त के वचनों की रक्षा हेतु श्रीजी महाराज उसी आधी रात को किसी को बताए बिना गढ़पुर से नंगे पाँव विजापुर की ओर चल पड़े! मूलजी ब्रह्मचारी भी पीछे दौड़े। चार दिन की कठिन पैदल यात्रा कर दोनों वैरागी वेश में विजापुर पहुँचे। वजीबा के पति घर पर नहीं थे, अतः गृहस्थ मर्यादा के कारण उन्होंने संतों को घर के भीतर ठहराने से मना कर दिया। अंततः आग्रह करने पर आँगन में एक खाट बिछा दी। महाराज खाट पर सोए और ब्रह्मचारीजी भूमि पर।
आधी रात को सर्वसमर्थ श्रीहरि ने अपने दिव्य चरणारविंद का स्पर्श कराकर उस विशाल पीपल के वृक्ष को सहज ही तुलसी के क्यारे के पास धकेल दिया और कुआँ भी किनारे हो गया! प्रातः होने से पूर्व ही महाराज वहाँ से प्रस्थान कर गए। प्रातः जब वजीबा ने आँगन का दृश्य देखा, तो पीपल तुलसी के पास खड़ा था! वे पश्चात्ताप में डूब गईं कि साक्षात् प्रभु मेरे द्वार आए और मैं उन्हें पहचान न सकी।
कालांतर में जब वजीबा गढ़पुर संघ में दर्शन हेतु पधारीं, तो श्रीजी महाराज ने मुस्कुराते हुए अपने पावन चरण आगे बढ़ाकर कहा, “वजीबा! इन चरणों को पहचानती हो? यह वही चरण हैं जिन्होंने विजापुर में तुम्हारे आँगन का पीपल खिसकाया था!” वजीबा भावविभोर होकर प्रभु के चरणों में गिर पड़ीं।

Vajiba of Vijapur: The Governor’s Challenge and Shrihari Shifting the Peepal Tree
During the Janmashtami festival in Gadhpur, a group of pilgrims arrived from the Dandhavya region of northern Gujarat. They lamented to Shriji Maharaj that the regional governor (Subo) Lalji of Visnagar was a ruthless atheist fiercely hostile to Satsang, harassing devotees and forbidding the paramhansas from entering towns.
The pilgrims recounted how the haughty governor had barged into the courtyard of devout devotee Vajiba in Vijapur, demanding to know why she worshipped Swaminarayan. Vajiba declared with serene fearlessness: “Bhagwan Swaminarayan is the Supreme Purushottam Himself; my devotion is rooted in unshakable conviction.” The governor sneered with a contemptuous challenge: “If your Swaminarayan is truly God, let Him move this massive peepal tree across your courtyard right beside the sacred tulsi shrine, and shift the stone well aside!” Vajiba replied calmly: “For the Lord who creates, sustains, and dissolves infinite universes, shifting a peepal tree and a well is mere child’s play!”
To vindicate His devotee’s unflinching faith, Shriji Maharaj slipped out of Gadhpur in secret that very midnight, walking toward Vijapur! Attendant Mulji Brahmachari sprinted after Him. Despite Maharaj ordering him to turn back, Brahmachari insisted: “Where the body goes, the shadow must follow! Even if I must share a prison cell with You, I will never leave Your side!” On the fourth night, the two reached Vijapur disguised as traveling mendicants. Because Vajiba’s husband was away from home, she strictly upheld her vows and declined to lodge unfamiliar men inside her house. After much pleading, she allowed them to sleep outside in the open courtyard—Maharaj on a simple cot and Brahmachari on the bare floor.
In the dead of night, the almighty Shrihari stretched out His sacred lotus foot and effortlessly nudged the massive peepal tree across the courtyard, planting it firmly beside the tulsi shrine, while the well positioned itself aside! Before dawn broke, Maharaj and Brahmachari silently departed. At sunrise, Vajiba was stunned to see the peepal tree standing beside the tulsi shrine! Seeing the governor’s impossible condition fulfilled, tears of remorse flooded her eyes as she realized the humble mendicant was none other than the Lord of the universe.
Years later, when Vajiba joined a pilgrimage to Gadhpur, Shriji Maharaj extended His divine lotus feet toward her with an enchanting smile: “Vajiba! Do you recognize these feet? These are the very feet that nudged the peepal tree across your courtyard in Vijapur!” Overwhelmed with gratitude, Vajiba prostrated before the Lord, weeping tears of joy.
