જેઠામહારાજ અને ગોંડલના ભાણાભાઇ દરબાર
એકવખત સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી સતસંગ વિચરણ કરતા કરતા ગોંડલ મંદિરે પધાર્યા. સંતો પધારતા જેઠામહારાજ ને થયું કે આવડા મોટા સદગુરુ પધાર્યા તે દરબાર ભાણાભાઇને સ્વામી ના દર્શન કરાવુ. એ આગૃહે પોતે જઇને દરબારને કહ્યું તો દરબારે હા આવીશ એમ કહી સંમતિ આપી. દરબારના દ્વેષી કારભારીઓને આ ગમ્યું નહી.
બીજે દિવસે દરબાર મંદિરે દર્શને જવા તૈયાર જાવા થયા ત્યાં એમને છીંક આવી એટલે કારભારીએ કહ્યું કે અપશુકન થયા હવે ન જવાય, ફરીને વળતે દિવસે દરબાર જાવા તૈયાર થયા ને નીકળ્યા ત્યાં બીલાડી રસ્તે આડી ઉતરી એટલે તુરંત કારભારી એ રોક્યા ને બોલ્યા કે દરબાર..! આજેય તમને અપશુકન થયા એટલે ન જવાય. દરબાર પાછા ફરી ગયા ને દર્શને ન ગયા ને મહેલે પાછા ફર્યા.
હરિભક્ત જેઠામહારાજ ને થયું કે દરબાર ભાણાભાઇ કેમ સ્વામીના દર્શને હજુ આવ્યા નહી એમ જાણી ને પોતે તુરંત દરબાર ના રાજમહેલે ગયા ને દરબાર ને વાત પુછી એટલે ભાણાભાઇ દરબારે બે વખત અપશુકન થયા ની વાત કહી.
જેઠામહારાજ બોલ્યા કે દરબાર તમે સત્ય વચન કહુ તો તમે સાવ વેવલા ને વહેમી છોવ, તમારે કાય છોકરાની જાન જોડવી છે કે ધિંગાણે લડવા જાવુ છ તે શુકન હોય તોજ જવાય? ભગવાન કે ભગવાન ના આવા પવિત્ર સંતના દર્શને જાઇએ ને એ સમે આપડા ભાગ્યમાં હજારો અપશુકન કે વિઘ્ન હોય તોય એમના દર્શનના સંકલ્પે જ નાશ પામે..! માટે આવી આતમ કલ્યાણ ની વાત્ય મા બહુ કારભારીઓનું માનવું નહી. મોક્ષમાર્ગની વાત્ય મા તો મહાપુરુષોની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે વર્તવાનુ હોય. બીજુ કે તમે તો રાજા છો, તમારે બધાને આજ્ઞામાં વર્તાવવાનુ હોય.. ! તમારે બીજાની આજ્ઞા માનવાની ન હોય. તમે જ જો કાયર થશો તો રાજમા કોઇ તમારું માનશે નહી, માટે સાચા રાજા બનો.
જેઠામહારાજની વાત સાંભળીને દરબાર ભાણાભાઇ ને પોતાની ભૂલ્ય સમજાણી, પોતાને સાચી વાત નિડરપણે મુખ પર કહેવા બદલ જેઠામહારાજ ઉપર રાજી થયા ને એમને રાજના ખજાનચી પાહે રોકડા રુપીયા અપાવી રાજી કર્યા.
પોતે તુરંત જ સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી ના દર્શને આવ્યા ને સ્વામી પાસે વર્તમાન ધરાવી ને સત્સંગી થયા ને સમાગમ કરી રાજી કર્યા.

जेठामहाराज और गोंडल के भाणाभाई दरबार
एक बार सद्गुरु गोपालानंद स्वामी सत्संग विचरण करते हुए गोंडल के मंदिर में पधारे। ऐसे महान संत के शुभागमन पर निष्ठावान हरिभक्त जेठामहाराज के मन में विचार आया कि इतने समर्थ सद्गुरु पधारे हैं, अतः गोंडल के दरबार भाणाभाई को स्वामीश्री के दर्शन कराने चाहिए। इस सद्भावना से वे स्वयं दरबार के पास गए और दर्शन हेतु आग्रह किया। दरबार भाणाभाई ने सहर्ष सहमति देते हुए कहा कि वे अवश्य दर्शन के लिए आएँगे। परंतु दरबार के कुछ ईर्ष्यालु कारभारियों (दरबारियों) को यह बात बिल्कुल रास नहीं आई।
अगले दिन जब दरबार भाणाभाई मंदिर में दर्शन के लिए निकलने ही वाले थे, तभी उन्हें अचानक छींक आ गई। यह देखते ही कारभारी ने तुरंत टोकते हुए कहा, “दरबार! अपशकुन हो गया है, अब जाना उचित नहीं होगा।” दरबार रुक गए और दर्शन टाल दिए। इसके अगले दिन जब दरबार पुनः दर्शन के लिए तैयार होकर महल से निकले, तो रास्ते में एक बिल्ली रास्ता काट गई। कारभारियों ने उन्हें फिर रोक लिया और कहा, “दरबार! आज भी अपशकुन हो गया है, अतः आज भी नहीं जाया जा सकता।” दरबार पुनः संकोच में पड़कर दर्शन किए बिना ही राजमहल लौट गए।
जब हरिभक्त जेठामहाराज ने देखा कि दरबार भाणाभाई अभी तक स्वामीश्री के दर्शन के लिए नहीं आए, तो वे स्वयं राजमहल पहुँचे और इसका कारण पूछा। तब दरबार भाणाभाई ने लगातार दो दिन हुए तथाकथित अपशकुनों की बात बताई।
यह सुनकर जेठामहाराज निर्भीक होकर बोले, “दरबार! यदि सच कहूँ तो आप अत्यंत संकोची और वहमी (अंधविश्वासी) हो गए हैं! क्या आपको अपने बेटे की बारात लेकर जाना है या किसी युद्ध के मैदान में लड़ने जाना है, जो केवल शकुन देखकर ही निकलेंगे? जब हम साक्षात् भगवान या भगवान के ऐसे परम पवित्र संत के दर्शन करने जाते हैं, तब यदि हमारे प्रारब्ध में हजारों अपशकुन या विघ्न भी हों, तो उनके दर्शन के शुभ संकल्प मात्र से ही वे सब नष्ट हो जाते हैं! इसलिए आत्म-कल्याण की बात में ऐसे कारभारियों के बहकावे में नहीं आना चाहिए। मोक्ष-मार्ग में तो केवल समर्थ महापुरुषों की आज्ञा के अनुसार ही चलना होता है। दूसरी बात, आप इस राज्य के राजा हैं; सबको आपकी आज्ञा में चलना चाहिए, न कि आपको दूसरों की आज्ञा माननी चाहिए! यदि आप स्वयं ही इस प्रकार कायर और भीरु बनेंगे, तो राज्य में आपकी आज्ञा का कोई सम्मान नहीं करेगा। इसलिए सच्चे राजा बनिए!”
जेठामहाराज की ये खरी और विवेकपूर्ण बातें सुनकर दरबार भाणाभाई को अपनी भूल का भान हुआ। अपने मुँह पर निडर होकर सच्ची बात कहने के लिए वे जेठामहाराज पर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और राजकोष के खजांची से उन्हें नकद राशि दिलाकर सम्मानित किया।
तदुपरांत दरबार भाणाभाई तुरंत ही सद्गुरु गोपालानंद स्वामी के दर्शन हेतु मंदिर पहुँचे। उन्होंने स्वामीश्री के चरणों में बैठकर वर्तमान (सत्संग के नियम) ग्रहण किए, सच्चे सत्संगी बने और संतों के दिव्य समागम का लाभ उठाकर स्वामीजी को अत्यंत प्रसन्न किया।

Jethamaharaj and Darbar Bhanabhai of Gondal
Once, while traveling for Satsang propagation, Sadguru Gopalanand Swami graced the Swaminarayan Mandir in Gondal. Upon the arrival of such an exalted Sadguru, the devout devotee Jethamaharaj felt that Darbar Bhanabhai of Gondal should definitely be blessed with Swami’s divine darshan. With this earnest intention, Jethamaharaj personally went to the Darbar and invited him. Darbar Bhanabhai readily agreed, promising that he would come. However, the envious ministers (karbharis) of the royal court did not like this at all.
The following day, just as the Darbar was preparing to leave for the mandir, he sneezed. Seeing this, an attendant immediately warned him, “Darbar! A sneeze is an ill omen (apashukun); you should not step out now.” The Darbar relented and postponed his visit. The next day, as he set out once more, a cat crossed his path. The ministers immediately intervened again, saying, “Darbar! Today an ill omen has occurred yet again; it is inauspicious to proceed.” Swayed by their superstition, the Darbar turned back once more and returned to his palace without having Swami’s darshan.
Wondering why Darbar Bhanabhai had still not arrived to meet Gopalanand Swami, Jethamaharaj went directly to the royal palace to inquire. Darbar Bhanabhai explained how he had encountered bad omens on two consecutive days.
Hearing this, Jethamaharaj spoke candidly and fearlessly, “Darbar! To tell you the unvarnished truth, you have become overly timid and superstitious! Are you leading a wedding procession for your son or heading to a fierce battlefield that you must wait for favorable omens before stepping out? When one goes for the darshan of God or His supreme, holy saint, even if thousands of bad omens and obstacles were written in one’s destiny, they are completely obliterated the very moment one resolves to behold such divinity! Therefore, in matters of spiritual liberation and the soul’s ultimate well-being, never surrender to the opinions of courtiers. On the path to salvation (moksha), one must walk solely by the guidance of enlightened spiritual masters. Moreover, you are the ruler; it is your duty to command others, not to follow the dictates of others! If you yourself display such weakness and cowardice, no one in your kingdom will respect your authority. Rise above this and be a true king!”
Hearing the bold and enlightening words of Jethamaharaj, Darbar Bhanabhai realized his folly. Deeply impressed by Jethamaharaj’s courage and honesty to speak the truth directly to a ruler, the Darbar rewarded him generously with cash from the royal treasury.
Without any further delay, the Darbar went to the mandir for the darshan of Sadguru Gopalanand Swami. In the presence of Swami, he accepted the moral vows (vartaman), embraced Satsang, and delighted the holy saint through sincere association and devotion.
