નડીયાદ પાસેના ગામ પીપલગના પાટીદારોમા સંતોના યોગથી સારો એવો સત્સંગ થયેલો. એક પાટીદાર હરિભક્ત ના દિકરાને સંસારથી તિવૃ વૈરાગ્ય થયો.

પીપલગના ભગવાનદાસ સ્વામી અને બ્રહ્માજીના દર્શન
નડીયાદ પાસેના ગામ પીપલગના પાટીદારોમા સંતોના યોગથી સારો એવો સત્સંગ થયેલો. એક પાટીદાર હરિભક્ત ના દિકરાને સંસારથી તિવૃ વૈરાગ્ય થયો તે વડતાલ સાધુ થવા જતા રહ્યા. એના પિતા એમને જઇને પાછા ઘરે લઇ આવ્યા. આવું ત્રણ ચાર વખત થયું એટલે એમના પિતાએ વિચાર્યું કે હવે આને પરણાવી દઇએ એટલે પછે બધુય થાળે પડી જાશે. એમ જાણી બાજુના ગામમાં એમના લાયક કન્યા ગોતીને લગ્ન લેવાનું નક્કી કર્યું પણ યુવાન હરિભક્તે તો ના પાડી. સારા ચોઘડીયે લગન ગોઠવી ને જાન રંગેચંગે એને પરણાવવા લેવાના માંડવે સહુ ગયા, પણ વરરાજાએ તો મનની ગાંઠય વાળી લીધેલી કે હવે આ સંસારના ચોગઠામાં પડવું જ નથી. માંડવામાં ફેરા ફરતી વખતે ત્રણ ફેરા પુરા થયા એટલે ચોથે ફેરે વરરાજા અટક્યા તે લગનવિધી કરાવતા બૃાહ્મણે ચોથો ફેરો પુરો કરવા કહ્યું. વરરાજા તો વીફર્યા ને બ્રાહ્મણને કહે હુ તો આ લખચોરાશીની ભવાટવીમાં ઘણીવાર ફેરા ફરીને થાક્યો છવ, તુ હવે ચોથો ફેરો ફર્ય ને મને છૂટો કર્ય. એમ કહીને માંડવેથી કોઇના રોક્યા રોકાયા વીના ચાલી નીકળ્યા. પોતાના ઘરના સભ્યો ને સગા સંબંધીઓએ ઘણા-ઘણા મનાવ્યા પણ માન્યા જ નહી ને મીંઢોળ છોડીને લગન માંડી વાળ્યું. આમ તિવૃ વૈરાગ્ય હોવા છતા ઘરે રહ્યાને વરહો વરહ ઉનાળે પોતાના આંબાવાડીયાની સાંખની કેરીઓ નો ટોપલો ઉપાડીને શ્રીહરિને જમાડી ને રાજી કર્યા. થોડા વરહે પોતે ગઢપુર ગયા ને શ્રીહરિ ને ચરણે દંડવત પૃણામ કરીને બોલ્યા કે હે પૃભુ, હવે સંસાર મા નથી રહેવું મને સાધુ કરો. શ્રીહરિએ એમને ભાગવતિ દીક્ષા આપીને ભગવાનદાસ સ્વામી એવું નામ પાડ્યું.
સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામી સાથે તેઓ મંડળમા કાયમ રહીને માળીયા હાટીના મંદિરની બાગનીવાડી સાચવવાની સેવા કરતા. એકવખત રાત્રે તેઓ માંચડો નાંખી ને વાહૂપુ કરવા વાડીએ હતા તે અધરાતે સંકલ્પ થયો કે બૃહ્માજીને ચારમુખ હતા તે કેમ હશે? તે સમયે સર્વત્ર પૃકાશ છવાય ગયો ને એમને ખુદ બૃહ્માજીએ દર્શન દીધા પૃણામ કર્યા તે સ્વામી બોલ્યા કે આપ કોણ છો? ત્યારે બૃહ્માજી કહે કે તમે સંકલ્પ કર્યો એટલે હુ તુરતંજ આપના દર્શને આવ્યો છું. ભગવાનદાસ સ્વામી બોલ્યા કે આપ તો મોટા દેવ છો ને મને પૃણામ કરો છો એ બરાબર નહી, મારો અપરાધ થશે. મારે તમને પૃણામ કરવા જોઇએ. એ સાંભળી બૃહ્માજી બોલ્યા કે તમે માંડવે ત્રણ ફેરા ફર્યાને ચોથો ફેરો ફર્યા વગર ઘરબાર છોડીને પૃગટ પૃભુને મળ્યા છો. જે અમથી દેવલોક મા પણ થાય નહી. સ્વામી કહે મને તમારા ચાર મુખ ના દર્શન કરાવો એટલે તુરંત જ બૃહ્માજીએ દર્શન દીધા ને પછે બૃહ્માજીની અરજથી બને જુનાગઢ સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામીના દર્શને ગયા.
દરવરહે એક મહીનો સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી જૂનાગઢ પધારતા હતા. ત્યારે ભગવાનદાસ સ્વામી સ્વામીને પગે લાગીને બોલ્યા કે સ્વામી આજ બધાય સંતોને દાળ-રોટલા તમે પીરસી ને જમાડો, હુ રોટલા બનાવી દઇશ એમ કહીને બસો રોટલા એકલા હાથે ઘડીને સહુ સંતોને ભંડાર મા ચોકે સદગુરુ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી અને સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામીએ પીરસ્યા. સ્વામીએ વખતે એમની સેવા જોઇને ખુબ રાજી થયા ને બોલ્યા કે ભગવાનદાસ દેહ તો સહુ કોઇને મળ્યો છે પણ ભગવાન ને ભગવાનના આવા પવિત્ર સંતોના અર્થે આ કાયા તમે વાપરી એ જ જીવનની સાર્થકતા છે.

पीपलग के भगवानदास स्वामी और ब्रह्माजी के दर्शन
नडियाद के समीप पीपलग गाँव के पाटीदारों में संतों के सत्संग से बहुत सुंदर भक्तिभाव दृढ़ हुआ था। वहीं के एक पाटीदार हरिभक्त के पुत्र के हृदय में संसार के प्रति तीव्र वैराग्य उत्पन्न हो गया। वे साधु बनने के लिए वडताल चले गए। उनके पिता वहाँ जाकर उन्हें समझा-बुझाकर पुनः घर ले आए। ऐसा तीन-चार बार हुआ। तब उनके पिता ने सोचा कि अब इसका विवाह कर दिया जाए, तो संसार में मन लग जाएगा और सब कुछ ठीक हो जाएगा। ऐसा विचार कर उन्होंने पास के गाँव में एक योग्य कन्या देखकर विवाह तय कर दिया, किंतु उस युवक हरिभक्त ने विवाह से साफ़ मना कर दिया। फिर भी परिवारजनों ने शुभ मुहूर्त में विवाह का दिन निश्चित किया और बारात धूमधाम से मंडप में पहुँची। परंतु दूल्हा बने उस युवक ने तो मन में दृढ़ संकल्प कर लिया था कि अब संसार के इस भव-जंजाल में नहीं फँसना है।
विवाह मंडप में जब फेरे शुरू हुए, तब तीन फेरे पूर्ण होने के बाद चौथे फेरे पर दूल्हा रुक गया। विवाह विधि करवा रहे ब्राह्मण ने चौथा फेरा पूरा करने को कहा। तब वे दृढ़तापूर्वक बोले, “मैं तो चौरासी लाख योनियों के इस संसार-चक्र में अनगिनत बार फेरे खा-खाकर थक चुका हूँ। अब यह चौथा फेरा तुम ही पूरा कर लो और मुझे मुक्त करो!” ऐसा कहकर वे किसी के रोके बिना ही मंडप छोड़कर चल दिए। परिवारजनों और नाते-रिश्तेदारों ने उन्हें मनाने के बहुत प्रयास किए, किंतु वे नहीं माने; उन्होंने हाथ से मींढोल (कंकण) खोलकर विवाह का बंधन सदा के लिए त्याग दिया।
इतने तीव्र वैरागी होने के बावजूद उन्होंने कुछ समय घर पर रहकर मर्यादा निभाई। वे प्रतिवर्ष ग्रीष्म ऋतु में अपने आम के बगीचे से पकी हुई रसीली केरियों (आमों) का टोकरा सिर पर उठाकर श्रीहरि के पास लाते और उन्हें प्रेमपूर्वक जिमाकर प्रभु को अत्यंत प्रसन्न करते। कुछ वर्षों बाद वे गढ़पुर पहुँचे और श्रीहरि के चरणों में साष्टांग दंडवत प्रणाम करके प्रार्थना की, “हे प्रभु! अब मुझे संसार में नहीं रहना, कृपया मुझे साधु दीक्षा प्रदान कीजिए।” श्रीहरि ने उनकी अनन्य निष्ठा देखकर उन्हें भागवती दीक्षा दी और उनका नाम ‘भगवानदास स्वामी’ रखा।
दीक्षा के पश्चात वे सदैव सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के मंडल में रहते और माळिया हाटीना के मंदिर की बाड़ी (बगीचे) की सार-संभाल की सेवा अत्यंत निष्ठा से करते। एक रात वे बाड़ी में मचान पर बैठकर रखवाली कर रहे थे। आधी रात को अचानक उनके मन में एक संकल्प उठा कि “ब्रह्माजी के चार मुख हैं, वे कैसे दिखते होंगे?” उसी क्षण चारों ओर दिव्य प्रकाश फैल गया और साक्षात ब्रह्माजी ने प्रकट होकर स्वामीजी को प्रणाम किया! स्वामीजी ने आश्चर्य से पूछा, “आप कौन हैं?” तब ब्रह्माजी ने कहा, “आपके मन में संकल्प हुआ, इसलिए मैं तुरंत आपके दर्शन के लिए उपस्थित हो गया हूँ।”
भगवानदास स्वामी संकोचवश बोले, “आप तो महान देव हैं और मुझे प्रणाम कर रहे हैं, यह उचित नहीं है। इससे तो मुझे अपराध लगेगा; मुझे आपको प्रणाम करना चाहिए।” यह सुनकर ब्रह्माजी बोले, “आपने विवाह मंडप में तीन फेरे लेने के बाद चौथा फेरा लिए बिना ही घर-बार त्याग दिया और प्रकट परब्रह्म परमात्मा को प्राप्त कर लिया। ऐसा त्याग तो हम देवलोक के देवता भी नहीं कर सकते!” तब स्वामीजी ने कहा, “कृपया मुझे अपने चार मुखों के दर्शन कराइए।” ब्रह्माजी ने तत्काल अपने चारों मुखों के दिव्य दर्शन कराए। इसके पश्चात ब्रह्माजी की प्रार्थना पर दोनों जूनागढ़ पधारे और सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी के दर्शन किए।
प्रतिवर्ष सद्गुरु गोपालनंद स्वामी एक माह के लिए जूनागढ़ पधारते थे। एक बार भगवानदास स्वामी ने गोपालनंद स्वामी के चरणों में वंदना करके विनती की, “स्वामी! आज सभी संतों को दाल और रोटला आप अपने करकमलों से परोसकर जिमाइए, रोटले मैं अकेले ही बनाऊँगा।” ऐसा कहकर उन्होंने अकेले ही दो सौ रोटले तैयार किए। भंडार के प्रांगण में सद्गुरु गोपालनंद स्वामी और सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी ने स्वयं सभी संतों को वे रोटले परोसे। भगवानदास स्वामी की यह निस्वार्थ सेवा देखकर गोपालनंद स्वामी अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और बोले, “भगवानदास! यह नश्वर देह तो संसार में सभी जीवों को प्राप्त होती है, किंतु भगवान और भगवान के ऐसे परम पवित्र संतों के अर्थ में जो इस काया को समर्पित कर दे, वही जीवन की सच्ची सार्थकता है।”

Bhagwandas Swami of Piplag and the Divine Darshan of Brahmaji
In the village of Piplag near Nadiad, satsang flourished deeply among the Patidar community through the divine association of holy saints. The son of one devout Patidar family developed intense vairagya (spiritual detachment) towards worldly life. He left for Vadtal to become a sadhu. However, his father went there and persuaded him to return home. This happened three or four times. Finally, his father thought, “If we get him married, his mind will settle down and everything will return to normal.” With this intention, they arranged his marriage with a suitable bride from a neighboring village, though the young devotee firmly opposed the idea. Nevertheless, an auspicious time was chosen, and the wedding party arrived at the wedding pavilion with great festivity. The young bridegroom, however, had already resolved in his heart never to get ensnared in the trap of worldly existence.
During the wedding ceremony, three circumambulations (pheras) around the sacred fire were completed. At the fourth phera, the bridegroom suddenly stopped. The presiding Brahmin priest urged him to complete the fourth round. Hearing this, the resolute youth spoke boldly: “I have circled the cycle of 8.4 million births countless times in this vast forest of worldly existence and have grown utterly weary of it. You may complete this fourth round yourself and set me free!” Saying this, he stepped away from the mandap without being deterred by anyone. His parents and relatives pleaded with him fervently, but he refused to yield. Untying the sacred wedding thread (mindhol), he renounced marriage once and for all.
Despite his intense detachment, he remained at home dutifully for a few years. Every summer, he lovingly carried a large basket of ripe mangoes from his orchard on his head to present to Shri Hari, earning the divine pleasure of the Lord. Eventually, he arrived in Gadhpur, offered devout prostrations (dandvat pranam) at the holy feet of Shri Hari, and prayed: “O Lord! I no longer wish to remain in the worldly life; please initiate me as a sadhu.” Pleased with his genuine surrender, Shri Hari granted him the sacred Bhagwati Diksha and named him Bhagwandas Swami.
Bhagwandas Swami served continuously in the mandal of Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami, lovingly looking after the orchard and garden of the temple in Maliya Hatina. One night, while keeping watch in the orchard from a raised wooden platform (machan), a thought crossed his mind around midnight: “Lord Brahma is said to have four faces; what must he look like?” At that very moment, a dazzling divine light illuminated the entire surroundings, and Lord Brahma himself appeared before him, offering reverent prostrations! Surprised, Swami asked, “Who are you?” Brahmaji replied, “The moment you had that thought in your mind, I rushed here immediately to have your holy darshan.”
Bhagwandas Swami humbly said, “You are a great celestial deity, while I am an ordinary devotee. It is not appropriate for you to bow before me; rather, it is I who should offer pranam to you.” Brahmaji responded, “In the wedding pavilion, after completing three rounds, you renounced hearth and home without taking the fourth, thereby attaining the manifest Supreme Lord. Such supreme renunciation cannot be achieved even by the gods in heaven!” Swami then requested, “Please grant me the darshan of your four faces.” Brahmaji instantly revealed his four faces. Afterward, at Brahmaji’s humble request, both traveled to Junagadh to have the divine darshan of Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami.
Every year, Sadguru Gopalanand Swami would stay in Junagadh for a month. During one visit, Bhagwandas Swami bowed at his feet and said, “Swami, today please serve the dal and rotlas to all the saints with your own hands; I will prepare all the rotlas myself.” Saying so, he single-handedly prepared two hundred rotlas. In the kitchen courtyard, Sadguru Gopalanand Swami and Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami personally served the sanctified food to all the saints. Delighted by his humble, untiring devotion, Gopalanand Swami showered his blessings, saying: “Bhagwandas! Everyone receives a physical body in this world, but dedicating this body to the service of God and His pure, holy saints is the true fulfillment of human life.”
