ગામ સોજાના પટેલ નાગરદાસ માંદા હતા. તેમની સાથે ઓસરી મા ખાટલે ભાઈ નથુ પટેલ પાસે બેઠા હતા. તે સમે ઓસરી મા નાગરદાસ ઊંચું જોવા મંડ્યા. ત્યારે નથુભાઈએ: “ભાઈ, વળીઓને શું જોઈ રહ્યા છો? ભગવાન શ્રીહરિને સંભારોને!” ત્યારે નાગરદાસ પટેલ હરખના આંસુ સાથે બોલ્યા કે : “ નથુ, મને આવા પૃગટ ભગવાન મળ્યા ને આવા પવિત્ર સંતોના સમાગમે સત્સંગ થયો હવે આ સંસાર મા તે પાંચ ફદીયાની વળીઓને જોઉં એવો છું? હું તો શ્રીજીમહારાજની મરમાળી મૂર્તિને જોઈ રહ્યો છું. અને હરિચરણદાસજી સ્વામી આદિક પાંચ સાધુ હમણાં આવ્યા હતા. તે એમ કહી ગયા છે જે, “તમને કાલે મહારાજ તેડવા આવશે. અને આજ તો અમે ગામમા ઓલ્યા કડિયાને અક્ષરધામમાં તેડવા જાઈએ છીએ.’ ત્યારેભાઇ નથુ પટેલ બોલ્યા કે મોટાભાઇ, એ કડીયો તો સત્સંગી નથી.’ ત્યારે ખાટલે સુતા સુતા નાગરદાસ પટેલ કહે કે “એ તો સત્સંગી નથી, પણ એની માં સત્સંગી હતી. તેને સાધુને લોટ આપવો હતો, પણ પોતાથી ઘંટીએ દળણું દળાય એમ નો’તું, તેથી એ કડિયે દસ શેર બાજરો સાધુ ને થાળ કરવા હારુ દેવા દળી દીધો હતો. તે પુણ્યે કરીને એને તેડવા જાઈએ છીએ.” એમ વાત કરે છે. એટલામાં નાગરદાસનો દીકરો આવ્યો. તે એમ બોલ્યો જે, “એ કડિયો ભેહુ સારુ ચારનો ભારો લઈને હમણાં જ મને મળ્યો ને સાજો છે.” પછી તે કડિયો પોતાને ઘેર ભારો નાંખીને તળાવમાં ના’વા ગયો. ત્યાં વાઈ આવી તે પાણીમાં પડી ગયો ને દેહ મેલી દીધો ને શ્રીહરિ ને સાધુ અક્ષરધામમાં તેડી ગયા. હરિભક્ત નાગરદાસ પટેલ ને વચન દીધા પૃમાણે શ્રીહરિચરણસ્વામી અને શ્રીહરિ સાથે આવીને બીજે દિવસે અક્ષરધામમા તેડી ગયા.
એકવાર શ્રીજીમહારાજ ગામ શ્રીવડતાલથી ગામ જોળ પધાર્યા. રસ્તામાં એક કોળીના છોકરાએ પોતાની વાડીએ તરબૂચના વેલા માં બે તરબૂચ પાકવા માટે જમીનમાં દાટયા ને મનમા એમ સંકલ્પ કર્યો કે “ આમાંથી એક તરબૂચ સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન ને ધરાવીશ અને બીજું મારા મામાને આપીશ.” પછી એ છોકરો તથા બીજા કોળીનો છોકરા સાથે શ્રીજીમહારાજ સભા કરીને બેઠા હતા ત્યાં આવ્યા. બને એ આવીને દર્શન કર્યા ને ઉભા રહ્યા એટલે તુરંત જ શ્રીજીમહારાજ અંતર્યામી પણે જાણતા થકા બોલ્યા કે અમારે માટે તરબૂચ રાખ્યું છે, તે લઈ આવો અને તમારા મામા માટે જે ખડબૂચ દાટ્યું છે, તેને તો શિયાળવું ખાઈ ગયું છે. પછી તે છોકરાઓએ તરબૂચ લાવીને શ્રીહરિને આપ્યું. તે તરબૂચ મહારાજે બૃહમચારી ને આપ્યું એટલે ધોઇને સુધારી ને મહારાજ જમ્યા.
ત્યારપછી કેટલેક વખતે તે કોળીના છોકરાનો અંતકાળ નજીક આવ્યો. ત્યારે શ્રીજીમહારાજ હાથમાં તરબૂચ લઇને એને તેડવા આવ્યા. ત્યારે એ છોકરો એમ બોલયો કે બાપુ, શ્રીજીમહારાજ, હાથમાં તરબૂચ લઇને મને તેડવા આવ્યા છે. માટે હું ધામમાં જાઉ છું. લયો ત્યારે જઇ સ્વામિનારાયણ..! એમ કહીને દેહ ત્યાગ કરીને શ્રીજીમહારાજ સાથે અક્ષરધામમાં ગયો.

सोजा के नागरदास पटेल, मिस्त्री का मोक्ष और तरबूज वाला कोली बालक
सोजा गाँव के भक्त नागरदास पटेल अस्वस्थ होकर ओसरी में खाट पर लेटे थे। उनके छोटे भाई नथु पटेल पास ही बैठे थे। उस समय नागरदास छत की बल्लियों (कड़ियों) की ओर एकटक देखने लगे। नथु पटेल ने कहा, “भाई! इन बल्लियों को क्या देख रहे हैं? भगवान श्रीहरि का स्मरण कीजिए!” नागरदास पटेल के नेत्रों से प्रेमाश्रु बहने लगे। वे बोले, “नथु! मुझे जब साक्षात् प्रकट परमात्मा और ऐसे पवित्र संत मिले हैं, तो क्या मैं इस संसार की दो पैसे की बल्लियों को देखूँगा? मैं तो साक्षात् श्रीजी महाराज की मनमोहक दिव्य मूरति के दर्शन कर रहा हूँ! अभी-अभी सद्गुरु हरिचरणदासजी स्वामी आदि पाँच संत पधारे थे। वे कह गए हैं कि महाराज आपको कल लेने पधारेंगे; और आज हम गाँव के उस कड़िये (मिस्त्री) को अक्षरधाम ले जा रहे हैं।” नथु पटेल ने आश्चर्य से कहा, “बड़े भाई! वह मिस्त्री तो सत्संगी भी नहीं है!” नागरदास ने कहा, “वह भले ही सत्संगी नहीं था, परंतु उसकी वृद्ध माँ सत्संगी थी। उसकी माँ संतों को थाल हेतु आटा भेंट करना चाहती थी, पर वृद्धावस्था के कारण उससे चक्की नहीं चलती थी। तब उसके इस पुत्र ने संतों के थाल के लिए दस सेर बाजरा चक्की में पीस दिया था! उस सेवा-पुण्य के प्रभाव से आज साक्षात् संत उसे अक्षरधाम ले जा रहे हैं।” तभी नागरदास का पुत्र वहाँ आया और बोला, “वह मिस्त्री तो अभी-अभी मुझे भैंसों के लिए घास का गट्ठा लिए मिला था; वह तो बिल्कुल भला-चंगा है!” परंतु वह मिस्त्री घर पर घास रखकर तालाब में स्नान करने गया, वहाँ अचानक उसे मूर्च्छा आ गई और वह जल में समा गया। इस प्रकार उसने देह त्याग दी और श्रीहरि व संत उसे दिव्य विमान में अक्षरधाम ले गए! अगले दिन वचनानुसार श्रीहरि स्वयं पधारकर नागरदास पटेल को भी दिव्य धाम ले गए।
एक अन्य प्रसंग में, श्रीजी महाराज वडताल से जोल गाँव पधारे। मार्ग में एक कोली बालक ने अपनी बाड़ी में तरबूज की बेलों में पकने हेतु दो तरबूज मिट्टी में दबा रखे थे। उसने मन में यह संकल्प किया था कि ‘इनमें से एक तरबूज स्वामीनारायण भगवान को अर्पित करूँगा और दूसरा अपने मामा को दूँगा।’ वह बालक अपने साथी के साथ सभा में पहुँचा जहाँ श्रीजी महाराज विराजमान थे। दोनों ने आकर दर्शन किए। अंतर्यामी श्रीजी महाराज ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “बेटा! जो तरबूज तुमने हमारे लिए रखा है, वह ले आओ; और जो तुम्हारे मामा के लिए दबाया था, उसे तो सियार खा गया है!” बालक दौड़कर गया और देखा तो वास्तव में मामा वाला तरबूज सियार खा चुका था और प्रभु वाला सुरक्षित था! वह तरबूज लेकर आया और श्रीहरि को अर्पित किया। महाराज ने मुकुंद ब्रह्मचारी को देकर उसे कटवाया और प्रेम से आरोग्या।
कालांतर में जब उस कोली बालक का अंत समय निकट आया, तो साक्षात् श्रीजी महाराज हाथ में वही दिव्य तरबूज लेकर उसे लेने पधारे! उस बालक ने हर्षित होकर अपने परिजनों से कहा, “पिताजी! साक्षात् श्रीजी महाराज हाथ में तरबूज लिए मुझे लेने पधारे हैं! अतः अब मैं प्रभु के परमधाम जा रहा हूँ। ‘जय स्वामीनारायण’!” ऐसा कहकर उसने देह त्याग दी और श्रीजी महाराज के साथ परमधाम अक्षरधाम को सिधार गया।

Soja’s Nagardas Patel, the Mason’s Salvation, and the Watermelon Boy
In the village of Soja, a devout devotee named Nagardas Patel lay ailing on a cot in his veranda. His younger brother, Nathu Patel, was sitting beside him. At that moment, Nagardas began gazing upward intently toward the ceiling rafters. Nathu Patel said, “Brother, why are you staring at the wooden rafters? Fix your mind on Bhagwan Shrihari!” Tears of joy welled in Nagardas’s eyes as he replied, “Nathu, having attained the manifest Supreme Lord and the sublime fellowship of holy saints, would I stare at the worthless wooden rafters of this mortal world? I am beholding the enchanting divine murti of Shriji Maharaj! Just a moment ago, Sadguru Haricharandasji Swami and four other sadhus visited me. They informed me that Maharaj will come to take me tomorrow; and today they are proceeding to escort the village mason (kadiyo) to Akshardham.” Nathu Patel asked in surprise, “Elder brother, that mason is not even a Satsangi!” Nagardas explained from his cot, “He is not a Satsangi himself, but his mother was a staunch devotee. She wished to offer fresh flour for the sadhus’ meal, but owing to frail health, she could not grind grain on the handmill. Her son compassionately ground ten seers of bajra on the stone mill so she could offer it to the sadhus. By virtue of that single selfless service to the sadhus, they are taking him to Akshardham today.” Just then, Nagardas’s son entered and remarked, “That mason met me just a moment ago carrying a bundle of fodder for his buffaloes; he is completely hale and hearty!” However, after dropping the fodder at his home, the mason went to the village pond to bathe. There, he suddenly suffered an epileptic fit, fell into the water, and passed away. Shrihari and His saints escorted his soul to Akshardham in a luminous celestial chariot. The following day, exactly as promised, Shrihari and Haricharan Swami arrived in person to escort Nagardas Patel to Akshardham.
In another episode, Shriji Maharaj was traveling from Vadtal to the village of Jol. Along the path, a young Koli boy had buried two ripening watermelons beneath the soil in his orchard to protect them. He had made a silent resolve in his heart: ‘I will offer one watermelon to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, and I will give the other to my maternal uncle.’ Later, the boy accompanied a friend to the assembly where Shriji Maharaj was presiding. As the two boys stood reverently before Him, omniscient Shriji Maharaj smiled and said, “Son, go and bring the watermelon you kept for Us; as for the one you buried for your uncle, a jackal has already eaten it!” The astonished boy ran back to the field and found that the uncle’s melon had indeed been devoured by a jackal, while the Lord’s melon was untouched! He joyfully carried the watermelon to Shrihari. Maharaj handed it to Mukund Brahmachari to wash and slice, and relished the sweet fruit.
Years later, when that Koli youth’s final moments arrived, Shriji Maharaj Himself manifested before him, holding that very watermelon in His divine hand! Radiant with ecstasy, the boy called out to his family, “Father! Shriji Maharaj has come in person holding a watermelon to take me to His abode! Therefore, I am departing for Akshardham. ‘Jai Swaminarayan’!” With these joyful words, he peacefully cast off his mortal coil and ascended to Akshardham with Shriji Maharaj.
