ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામી અને નારાયણભાઇના ચીભડા
સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામી એક વખત સત્સંગ વિચરણ મા ઉપલેટા પધાર્યા. ઉપલેટા થી ભાયાવદરના રસ્તે જાતા હરિભક્ત આહિર નારાયણભાઇનુ ખેતર આવ્યું. ખેતરમાં એ સમયે રાજગરા ચીભડા બહુ સારા થયેલા. તે નારાયણભાઇએ સ્વામીને આગ્રહ કરીને સંતોને ચીભડા જમાડવા આગ્રહ કર્યો. સ્વામી રાજી થયા, ને ઝાડ હેઠે બેહારયા, ને નારાયણભાઇ દોડતા ગયા ને ફાળિયાની ફાંટ ભરીને કૂણા કૂણા ચીભડા લાવ્યા તે ધોઇને ઠાકોરજીને ધરાવી ને સહુ સંતો ને જમાડ્યા. નારાયણભાઇ બોલ્યા કે સ્વામી..! એક અરજ છે કે ખેતર મા ચીભડા બહુ સારા થયા છે તો જુનાગઢ ધીંગાધણી રાધારમણ દેવ ને સીધ્ધેશ્વર મહારાજને ધરાવવા ને અથાણું કરવા ચીભડા લઇ જાઓ. સ્વામી રાજી થયા ને નારાયણભાઇ ને હા કહી ને બોલ્યા કે, અમે સાધુ તો કેમ કરીને લઇ જઇશુ પણ કાંઇક ગાડાની વ્યવસ્થા કરો તો સારુ..! નારાયણભાઇ કહે ભલે સ્વામી હુ કાંક વ્યવસ્થા કરીને જુનાગઢ મંદિરે પહોંચાડી દઇશ.
આમ જયા વાત કરે છે. ત્યાં બે નાના સાધુઓ બોલ્યા કે ગુણાતિતસ્વામી કથામા વાતું તો એવી મોટી મોટી કરે છે કે, બ્રહ્માંડ મા કયાય જીવને નો વળગાડવા ની કરે છે, ને આયા ચીભડા જેવી વસ્તુ મા વળગ્યા છે. આ વાત ને સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામી અંતર્યામીપણે જાણી ગયા ને બોલ્યા કે, તમારા વૈરાગ્ય નુ કાય અથાણું નય થાય, અમારા માથે તો મંદિરનો ભાર છે. તો વસ્તુ પદાર્થ તો જોઇને…! આ હરિભક્તો નો ઠાકોરજીનો ભાવ હોય તો એમ વર્તવું ને એમને રાજી કર્યે જ સાચી સાધુતા પણ છે. એમ કહીને બને સાધુઓને મીઠો ઠપકો દીધો. સંતો તો થોડીવાર મા ભાયાવદર જવા નીકળી ગયા. તરત જ આહિર નારાયણભાઇએ એક ઉંટ ભાડે કરીને વીસ મણ ચીભડાના ગાંસડા જુનાગઢ મંદિરે ઠાકોરજીને દેવને અથાણા સારુ મોકલાવીને તકની સેવા કરી.
સદગુરુ ગુણાતિતાનંદ સ્વામી એ વાતો મા પણ એમણે કહ્યું છે કે, એક સાધુ એ મહારાજ ને કહ્યું કે આ અડબંગા જેવા સાધુ દીધા છે. તે એવા હારે રેવુ નથી, મને બીજા મંડળ મા મુકો. ત્યારે શ્રીજીમહારાજ કહે તમને કપિલ કે દત્તાત્રેય જેવા દઇએ તો કેમ ? ત્યારે એ સાધુ કહે, તો તો બહુ સારું હો મહારાજ…! આ સાંભળી શ્રીજીમહારાજ બોલ્યા કે આ બધાય સાધુ એવા જ છે. બસ એના ઐશ્વર્ય દબાવી દીધા છે. તે ભેળા રહે છે.

गुणातीतानंद स्वामी और नारायणभाई के चीभड़े
एक समय सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी सत्संग-विचरण करते हुए उपलेटा पधारे। उपलेटा से भायावदर जाने वाले मार्ग पर हरिभक्त अहीर नारायणभाई का खेत था। उस समय खेत में ‘राजगरा चीभड़े’ (ककड़ी/फूट जैसी एक प्रकार की स्वादिष्ट देशी तरबूज प्रजाति) की बहुत उत्तम फसल हुई थी। नारायणभाई ने स्वामी से अत्यंत आग्रह किया कि वे संतों सहित चीभड़े आरोगें।
स्वामीजी प्रसन्न हुए और सभी संत एक वृक्ष की शीतल छाया में विराज गए। नारायणभाई दौड़कर खेत में गए और अपने फालिए (दुपट्टे) की झोली भरकर कोमल-कोमल ताजे चीभड़े तोड़ लाए। उन्हें स्वच्छ जल से धोकर ठाकुरजी को अर्पित (थाल) किया और फिर सभी संतों को प्रेमपूर्वक जिमाया।
नारायणभाई ने हाथ जोड़कर विनती की, “हे स्वामी! मेरी एक प्रार्थना है। खेत में बहुत उत्तम चीभड़े हुए हैं, अतः जूनागढ़ के अधिपति राधारमणदेव और सिद्धेश्वर महादेव को अर्पित करने तथा मंदिर में वर्षभर के लिए आचार (अथाणा) बनाने हेतु आप ये चीभड़े ले जाइए।” स्वामीजी प्रसन्न हुए और नारायणभाई की प्रार्थना स्वीकार करते हुए बोले, “हम साधु पैदल चलते हैं, तो इन्हें कैसे ले जाएँगे? यदि आप किसी बैलगाड़ी आदि की व्यवस्था कर दें, तो बहुत अच्छा रहेगा!” नारायणभाई ने कहा, “बहुत अच्छा स्वामी! मैं प्रबंध करके जूनागढ़ मंदिर पहुँचा दूँगा।”
जब यह वार्तालाप चल रहा था, तब मंडल के दो नए युवा साधुओं ने आपस में फुसफुसाकर कहा, “गुणातीतानंद स्वामी कथा में तो इतनी बड़ी-बड़ी बातें करते हैं कि संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड में कहीं भी जीव को आसक्त नहीं होना चाहिए, और यहाँ स्वयं चीभड़े जैसी तुच्छ वस्तु में आसक्त हो रहे हैं!”
सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी ने अंतर्यामी रूप से उनके मन के इस विचार को जान लिया। वे तुरंत बोले, “तुम्हारे शुष्क वैराग्य का कोई आचार (अथाणा) नहीं बनता! हमारे सिर पर तो जूनागढ़ मंदिर की व्यवस्था का दायित्व है, इसलिए मंदिर के लिए अन्न और सामग्री की आवश्यकता तो होती ही है! इसके अतिरिक्त, जब हरिभक्त ठाकुरजी के प्रति अनन्य भाव से कुछ भेंट करते हैं, तो उनके भाव का आदर करना और उन्हें प्रसन्न करना ही सच्ची साधुता है।” ऐसा कहकर स्वामीजी ने दोनों साधुओं को मीठी डाँट (हितोपदेश) दी। इसके पश्चात संत भायावदर के लिए प्रस्थान कर गए।
उधर अहीर नारायणभाई ने तुरंत एक ऊँट किराए पर लिया और बीस मन चीभड़े की गठरियां बाँधकर ठाकुरजी के आचार हेतु जूनागढ़ मंदिर भिजवा दीं, और इस प्रकार समय पर सेवा का अनुपम लाभ प्राप्त किया।
सद्गुरु गुणातीतानंद स्वामी ने अपनी बातों में भी निरूपण किया है कि एक बार एक साधु ने महाराज से शिकायत की, “आपने मेरे साथ कैसे सीधे-सादे और गँवार जैसे साधु रख दिए हैं! मुझे इनके साथ नहीं रहना, मुझे किसी दूसरे मंडल में रखिए।” तब श्रीजी महाराज ने पूछा, “यदि तुम्हें कपिल मुनि अथवा दत्तात्रेय जैसे सिद्ध पुरुष दें, तो कैसा रहेगा?” उस साधु ने कहा, “महाराज! तब तो बहुत ही अच्छा होगा!” यह सुनकर श्रीजी महाराज बोले, “ये सभी साधु उन्हीं के समान महान हैं। हमने केवल इनका ऐश्वर्य छिपा रखा है, ताकि ये सब एक साथ मिलकर प्रेम से रह सकें।”

Gunatitanand Swami and Narayanbhai’s Sweet Melons (Chibhdha)
Once, Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami visited Upleta during his spiritual tour (satsang vicharan). Along the road from Upleta to Bhayavadar lay the agricultural farm of Haribhakt Narayanbhai Ahir. At that time, a bountiful crop of delicious Rajgara chibhdha (a sweet variety of indigenous snap-melon) had flourished in the field. Narayanbhai warmly insisted that Swami and the accompanying sadhus partake of the fresh melons.
Swami graciously consented, and the sadhus seated themselves under the soothing shade of a tree. Narayanbhai hurried into the field and gathered a large bundle of tender, ripe chibhdha in his cloth sheet. After washing them thoroughly, he offered them to Thakorji and lovingly served them to all the sadhus.
Narayanbhai then humbly prayed, “Swami! I have one humble submission. A magnificent crop of chibhdha has grown in my field this season. Please take these chibhdha to the holy abode of Junagadh to offer to the Sovereign Lord Radharamandev and Siddheshwar Mahadev, and to prepare pickles for the mandir.” Swami was pleased and accepted Narayanbhai’s loving offering, remarking, “We are wandering sadhus, so how could we carry them with us? If you could arrange a cart for transportation, it would be wonderful!” Narayanbhai replied, “Certainly, Swami! I shall make the necessary arrangements and deliver them safely to the Junagadh mandir.”
As this conversation was taking place, two junior sadhus murmured critically between themselves: “In his discourses, Gunatitanand Swami speaks so loftily about completely detaching the soul from the entire universe, yet here he is, becoming entangled in trivial things like chibhdha melons!”
Being antaryami (omniscient), Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami instantly perceived their inner cynicism and addressed them directly: “One cannot make delicious pickles out of your dry, outward renunciation! The responsibility of managing the Junagadh mandir rests upon our shoulders, and essential provisions are certainly required! Moreover, when devotees offer something with pure love and devotion toward Thakorji, honoring their devotional sentiment and making them happy is the true hallmark of genuine sainthood.” With these words, Swami gently yet firmly admonished the two sadhus. Shortly thereafter, the sadhus resumed their journey toward Bhayavadar.
Without delay, Ahir Narayanbhai hired a camel, loaded twenty maunds (bundles) of chibhdha, and dispatched them to Junagadh mandir for Thakorji’s pickle, thereby seizing a golden opportunity for devotional service (seva).
Sadguru Gunatitanand Swami has also emphasized in his holy discourses (Vato) that once a sadhu complained to Maharaj, “You have paired me with such rustic and simple sadhus! I cannot live with them; please place me in another mandal.” Shriji Maharaj asked him, “What if We assign companions like Sage Kapil or Dattatreya to you?” The sadhu eagerly responded, “That would be wonderful, Maharaj!” Hearing this, Shriji Maharaj revealed, “All these sadhus possess that very same divine greatness! We have merely concealed their divine powers (aishwarya) so that they may live together in harmony and humility.”
