મારવાડના જોધપુરમા એક સુખી સંપન્ન ખેતીવાડી કરતો પરિવાર હતો. તેમાં યુવાન દિકરાને વિશે એના વૃદ્ધ પિતા ને ખુબ હેત હતું તે મરવા ટાણે એ આસકિત ની કારણે ભૂત થયા. એ દિકરાને જ રોજ રાતે ભૂત સ્વરુપે દર્શન થાય તે એમણે પિતાના મોક્ષાર્થે ઘણાય ઉપાય કર્યા પણ આત્માનો છુટકારો થયો નહી. યુવાન દિકરા એ વિચાર કર્યો કે મારા બાપનું કલ્યાણ કરવું એ મારો પુત્રધર્મ છે એમ વિચારી પોતે રોકડા પાંચસો રુપીયા ની વાંહળી કેડ્યે બાંધીને ભગવા વસ્ત્રો પેરીને સાધુના વેશે ઘોડેસવાર થતો થકો ગોકુળ, મથુરા, હરિદ્વાર, ઋષીકેશ વગેરે સ્થાનકો એ તર્પણ વિધી-સરાવણું કરાવયુ. પોતે પિતાના મોક્ષાર્થે જગન્નાથપુરી ને દ્વારિકાની યાત્રા કરીને ત્યાં ગોમતી ના ઘાટ ઉપર છાપ પણ લીધી પણ નિષ્ફળ ગયા. ત્યાથી ચાલ્યો તે પૃભાસપાટણ ને સોમનાથ દર્શન કર્યા ને જુનાગઢ આવ્યા ને દામોદર કૂંડમા તર્પણવિધી કરાવી. આટઆટલા તિર્થસ્થાનો એ દર્શન ને તર્પણ કરવા છતા એમના પિતાનો મોક્ષ થયો નહી ને રોજ રાતે એમને પિતા ના ભૂતરુપે દર્શન થયા કરે.
યુવાન કંટાળી ને એવો વિચાર કર્યો કે હવે તો મારે આપઘાત કરીને જીવન ટૂંકાવી નાંખવુ. એ સમયે એને એકરાતે જુનાગઢમા ગિરનારની ગોદમાં રણછોડરાયજીએ દર્શન દીધા ને કીધુ કે તારા પિતાના મોક્ષ પ્રયાસની તારી આ યાત્રા થી હુ ખુબ પૃસન્ન થયો છુ, તુ હાલ ગઢડે જા ત્યાં સાક્ષાત પૃગટ ભગવાન સ્વામિનારાયણ બીરાજે છે તો એમના દર્શન કરજે ત્યાં તારા બધાય તાપ સંતાપ શમી જશે ને તારા પિતા નો પણ મોક્ષ થશે.
એ મારવાડી યુવાન તો તરતજ ઘોડેસવાર થઇને ગઢપુર ચાલ્યો. જયા ગઢપુરની સીમમાં દાખલ થયો તયા તો મનમા શાંતિ થવા માંડી ને બધી વિહ્વળતા શમી ગઇ. દરબારગઢ મા દાખલ થયા ત્યાં તો સત્સંગની માં સદગુરુ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી પોતાની ધિરગંભીર વાણી મા કથા કરતા હતા. એ યુવાન તો ઘોડેથી ઉતરી ને દોડીને સ્વામીના ચરણે પડી ગયો ને રડવા લાગ્યો. સ્વામીએ તુરતંજ ઉભા કર્યા ને ધિરજ આપીને પુછયુ કે તમે કોણ છો? ત્યારે યુવાન બોલ્યો કે હુ મારવાડના જોધપુર થી આવું છુ. મારા પિતાની અવગત થતા એ ભૂત થયા છે એમના મોક્ષાર્થે હુ કેટકેટલાય તિર્થ સ્થાન મા ફર્યો ને તર્પણ કર્યા પણ હજુ એ મને રોજ રાતે ભુતરુપે દર્શન દીએ છે. હવે તો તમે મારા પિતાનો ઉધ્ધાર કરો. મે આ ભગવા વસ્ત્રો તો મારગ મા કોઇ લૂંટે નય એટલે હાથે પેરયા છે પણ હુ ખરેખરે તો એક ગૃહસ્થ નો દિકરો જ છુ. મને તમે સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન ના દર્શન કરાવો તો મારા પિતાનો મોક્ષ થાય ને મારી આ યાત્રા સફળ થાય.
સદગુરુ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામી કહે સ્વામિનારાયણ ભગવાન તો હાલ કારીયાણી ગામે બીરાજે છે પણ આજે રોંઢે ચાર વાગ્યે ગઢપુર પધારવા ના છે તો તમને એમના ચોક્કસ દર્શન થશે.
બપોર પછી મહારાજ પધારતા જાણી ને સૌ સામૈયું કરીને સામા ગયા ને દરબારગઢ મા વાજતે ગાજતે આવ્યા. એ યુવાન તો માણકી ઘોડીએ અસવાર શ્રીહરિના મોજડી પકડી ને પેંગડાએ જ વળગી પડ્યો ને પોતાની અશ્રુધારાથી શ્રીહરિની મોજડીને ભીની કરી દીધી. સદગુરુ મુકતાનંદ સ્વામીએ ધિરજ આપીને મહારાજ ને એની બધીય વાત્ય કરી. શ્રીજીમહારાજ અક્ષરઓરડી એ પધાર્યા ને સાંજનો થાળ જમીને સભા મા બેઠા એટલે મુકતાનંદ સ્વામીની સાથે એ યુવાન પણ સભામા બેઠો. શ્રીજી મહારાજ કહે હે સ્વામી એમના પિતાને એના વીશે ખુબ પૃેમાસકિત હતી એ અંતકાળે સાંભરી આવતા ભૂત થયેલ પણ આ અમે એના જીવને ઘેલામા સ્નાન કરાવીને બદરીકાશ્રમ મોકલી દીધા છે. એમનુ હવે કલ્યાણ થશે.
શ્રીહરિએ મુળજી બૃહમચારી ને બોલાવી ને થાળની પૃસાદી અપાવી ને એ યુવાન ને પૃેમે કરીને જમાડ્યો.
એ દિવસથી એના પિતાના એમને રાતે દર્શન થતા બંધ થય ગયા. બીજા દિવસે એ શ્રીહરિએ એમને પુછયુ કે અહીયા રહેવું છ તો એમણે હા કહી એટલે પાર્ષદ દીક્ષા આપીને સદગુરુ સચ્ચિદાનંદ સ્વામી સાથે લક્ષ્મીવાડીએ સેવામાં રાખ્યા. એ પાર્ષદ રહ્યા થકા પાંચ વરહ સુધી લક્ષ્મીવાડીએ ફળફુલ બગીચા ની સેવા કરીને શ્રીહરિને સર્વસંતો ભક્તોને ખૂબ રાજી કર્યા. એકદિવસ દરબારગઢમા આવ્યા ને શ્રીહરિને દર્શન કરીને બોલ્યા કે હે મહારાજ હવે તમે મને સાધુ કરો.! સર્વસુજાણ શ્રીહરિ બોલ્યા કે ભગત પાર્ષદ રહેવા મા કાય વાંધો છે કે? ત્યારે પાર્ષદ કહે કે હે મહારાજ…! વાડીએ સેવા કરવામા તો ઘણો આનંદ છે પણ તયા આ તમારા ને આ દિવ્યસભાના દર્શન ને આ વાતો સાંભળવા મળતી નથી એ એક ખોટ્ય છે.
શ્રીહરિ એ એમને સાધુ કર્યા ને દિક્ષા આપીને શ્વેતવૈકુંઠાનંદ નામ પાડ્યું. પોતે જીવનભર શ્રીહરિના સંતમંડળના પરમહંસ બની રહ્યા.

श्वेतवैकुंठानंद स्वामी और पिता का उद्धार
मारवाड़ के जोधपुर में एक संपन्न और सुखी कृषक परिवार रहता था। उसमें वृद्ध पिता का अपने युवा पुत्र पर अत्यंत स्नेह था। मृत्यु के समय पुत्र में तीव्र आसक्ति होने के कारण वे देहांत के बाद प्रेत (भूत) बन गए। उस पुत्र को प्रतिदिन रात्रि में पिता प्रेत रूप में दिखाई देते थे। पुत्र ने पिता की मुक्ति के लिए अनेक उपाय किए, किंतु उनकी आत्मा को प्रेतयोनि से छुटकारा नहीं मिला।
युवा पुत्र ने विचार किया कि अपने पिता का कल्याण करना ही मेरा सच्चा पुत्रधर्म है। ऐसा विचार कर उसने कमर में पाँच सौ रुपये की थैली बाँधी और मार्ग में कोई लूट न ले, इसलिए साधु का वेश बनाकर भगवा वस्त्र धारण किए। वह घोड़े पर सवार होकर गोकुल, मथुरा, हरिद्वार, ऋषिकेश आदि तीर्थों में गया और वहाँ विधिपूर्वक श्राद्ध तथा तर्पण कराया। पिता के मोक्ष के लिए उसने जगन्नाथपुरी और द्वारिका की यात्रा की तथा गोमती घाट पर ‘छाप’ भी ली, किंतु सब निष्फल रहा। वहाँ से चलकर वह प्रभास पाटण व सोमनाथ महादेव के दर्शन करने गया, फिर जूनागढ़ आकर दामोदर कुंड में तर्पण विधि करवाई। इतने सारे तीर्थ स्थानों में दर्शन और तर्पण करने पर भी उसके पिता का मोक्ष नहीं हुआ और हर रात पिता प्रेत रूप में उसे दिखाई देते रहे।
थक-हारकर उस युवक ने मन में विचार किया कि अब तो आत्महत्या करके जीवन ही समाप्त कर लूँ। उसी समय एक रात्रि जूनागढ़ में गिरनार की तलहटी में भगवान रणछोड़रायजी ने उसे स्वप्न में दर्शन दिए और कहा, “अपने पिता के मोक्ष के लिए किए गए तुम्हारे इस प्रयास और यात्रा से मैं अत्यंत प्रसन्न हूँ। तुम अभी गढ़ापुर (गढ़डा) जाओ। वहाँ साक्षात प्रकट भगवान स्वामिनारायण विराजमान हैं, उनके दर्शन करो। वहाँ तुम्हारे सारे ताप और संताप शांत हो जाएँगे और तुम्हारे पिता का भी उद्धार हो जाएगा।”
वह मारवाड़ी युवक तुरंत घोड़े पर सवार होकर गढ़ापुर की ओर चल पड़ा। जैसे ही उसने गढ़ापुर की सीमा में प्रवेश किया, उसके हृदय में अलौकिक शांति का अनुभव होने लगा और मन की सारी व्याकुलता शांत हो गई। दरबारगढ़ में प्रवेश करते ही उसने देखा कि सत्संग की वात्सल्यमयी माँ सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी अपनी धीर-गंभीर वाणी में कथा कर रहे थे। वह युवक घोड़े से उतरकर दौड़ता हुआ आया और स्वामीजी के चरणों में गिरकर फूट-फूटकर रोने लगा। स्वामी ने तुरंत उसे उठाया, ढांढस बँधाया और पूछा, “तुम कौन हो?” तब युवक बोला, “मैं मारवाड़ के जोधपुर से आ रहा हूँ। मेरे पिता की मृत्यु के समय सदगति न होने से वे प्रेत बन गए हैं। उनके मोक्ष के लिए मैं न जाने कितने तीर्थों में घूमा और तर्पण किया, किंतु वे अब भी हर रात मुझे प्रेत रूप में दिखाई देते हैं। अब आप ही मेरे पिता का उद्धार कीजिए। मार्ग में कोई मुझे लूट न ले, इसलिए मैंने यह भगवा वेश धारण किया है, वास्तव में मैं एक गृहस्थ का पुत्र हूँ। आप मुझे भगवान स्वामिनारायण के दर्शन करा दीजिए, जिससे मेरे पिता का मोक्ष हो और मेरी यह यात्रा सफल हो।”
सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी ने कहा, “भगवान स्वामिनारायण इस समय कारियाणी गाँव पधारे हुए हैं, किंतु आज दोपहर बाद चार बजे गढ़ापुर पधारने वाले हैं, इसलिए तुम्हें उनके दर्शन अवश्य होंगे।”
दोपहर बाद जब श्रीजी महाराज के आगमन का समाचार मिला, तो सभी भक्त सामैया (स्वागत जुलूस) लेकर सामने गए और बाजे-गाजे के साथ प्रभु को दरबारगढ़ में लाए। वह युवक मानकी घोड़ी पर सवार श्रीहरि की मोजड़ी पकड़कर रकाब से लिपट गया और अपने आंसुओं की अविरल धारा से प्रभु के पावन चरणों को भिगो दिया। सद्गुरु मुक्तानंद स्वामी ने उसे सांत्वना दी और महाराज को उसकी पूरी व्यथा सुनाई।
श्रीजी महाराज अक्षर ओरडी में पधारे, संध्या का थाल आरोग कर सभा में विराजे, तो मुक्तानंद स्वामी के साथ वह युवक भी सभा में बैठा। श्रीजी महाराज बोले, “हे स्वामी! इनके पिता को इनके प्रति अत्यधिक प्रेमासक्ति थी। अंतकाल में इनका स्मरण होने से वे प्रेत योनि में चले गए थे। किंतु अब हमने उनके जीव को पवित्र घेला नदी में स्नान कराकर बद्रिकाश्रम भेज दिया है। अब उनका परम कल्याण हो गया है।” श्रीहरि ने मूलजी ब्रह्मचारी को बुलाकर थाल का प्रसादी भोजन मँगवाया और उस युवक को बड़े प्रेम से जिमाया।
उस दिन से युवक को रात्रि में पिता के प्रेत रूप के दर्शन होने सर्वथा बंद हो गए। दूसरे दिन श्रीहरि ने उससे पूछा, “क्या तुम यहीं रहना चाहते हो?” उसने सहर्ष स्वीकृति दी, तो महाराज ने उसे पार्षदी दीक्षा देकर सद्गुरु सच्चिदानंद स्वामी के साथ लक्ष्मीवाड़ी की सेवा में रख दिया। पार्षद के रूप में रहकर उसने पाँच वर्षों तक लक्ष्मीवाड़ी में फल-फूलों के बगीचे की निष्काम सेवा की और श्रीहरि तथा समस्त संतों-भक्तों को अत्यंत प्रसन्न किया।
एक दिन वह दरबारगढ़ आया और श्रीहरि के दर्शन कर प्रार्थना करने लगा, “हे महाराज! अब आप मुझे साधु दीक्षा प्रदान कीजिए।” सर्वज्ञ श्रीहरि बोले, “भगत! पार्षद रहने में क्या कोई असुविधा है?” तब पार्षद ने कहा, “हे महाराज! वाड़ी में सेवा करने में तो अपार आनंद है, किंतु वहाँ आपके और इस दिव्य सभा के दर्शन तथा ये अमृतमयी बातें सुनने को नहीं मिलतीं, बस यही एक कमी खलती है।”
श्रीहरि ने अति प्रसन्न होकर उन्हें साधु दीक्षा दी और उनका नाम ‘श्वेतवैकुंठानंद स्वामी’ रखा। वे जीवनभर श्रीहरि के पावन संत-मंडल के तेजस्वी परमहंस बनकर रहे।

Shwetvaikunthanand Swami and the Salvation of His Father
In Jodhpur, Marwar, there lived a prosperous and devout farming family. The elderly father held immense affection and attachment towards his youthful son. At the time of his passing, due to intense attachment to his son, he was unable to attain liberation and became a wandering ghost (pret). Every night, the father appeared before the son in ghostly form. The son made countless efforts and performed various rites for his father’s salvation, yet his soul found no release.
The young son reflected, “It is my foremost filial duty to liberate my father.” With this noble resolve, he tied a pouch containing five hundred rupees around his waist, donned saffron robes in the guise of an ascetic to avoid being robbed on the way, mounted a horse, and set out on a sacred pilgrimage. He visited holy shrines such as Gokul, Mathura, Haridwar, and Rishikesh, performing tarpan and shraddha ceremonies. For his father’s liberation, he journeyed to Jagannath Puri and Dwarka, where he received sacred markings (chhap) at Gomti Ghat, yet all his efforts proved in vain. Traveling onward, he visited Prabhas Patan and Somnath, and then arrived at Junagadh, where he performed tarpan rituals in the sacred Damodar Kund. Despite visiting so many holy tirthas and offering libations, his father was not liberated, continuing to haunt him every night in ghostly form.
Deeply frustrated and disheartened, the youth thought of ending his own life. At that very time, one night in Junagadh at the foothills of Mount Girnar, Lord Ranchhodrayji appeared to him in a divine vision and said: “I am immensely pleased with your dedicated pilgrimage and earnest efforts for your father’s salvation. Proceed at once to Gadhada! The manifest Supreme Lord Swaminarayan Himself is residing there. Go and have His divine darshan; all your afflictions and despair will be dispelled, and your father will attain ultimate liberation.”
The Marwadi youth mounted his horse without delay and rode toward Gadhpur. The moment he entered the boundary of Gadhpur, a profound serenity enveloped his soul, and all anxiety vanished. Entering the Darbargarh, he found the loving mother of Satsang, Sadguru Muktanand Swami, delivering a spiritual discourse in his deeply soothing and solemn voice. Dismounting his horse, the young man ran and fell at Swami’s lotus feet, weeping profusely. Swami gently helped him up, comforted him, and inquired, “Who are you?” The youth replied, “I hail from Jodhpur in Marwar. My father passed away with worldly attachment and became a ghost. For his deliverance, I have traveled to numerous tirthas and performed tarpan, yet he still appears to me every night. Please liberate my father! I wore these saffron clothes solely to prevent bandits from robbing me along the road; in reality, I am the son of a householder. Kindly bless me with the darshan of Bhagwan Swaminarayan so that my father may attain moksha and my journey may find fulfillment.”
Sadguru Muktanand Swami assured him, “Bhagwan Swaminarayan is currently in the village of Kariyani, but He will return to Gadhpur today around four o’clock in the afternoon. You will certainly have His divine darshan.”
In the afternoon, upon receiving word of Maharaj’s arrival, the devotees went out in a joyous procession (samaiyu) and welcomed Him into Darbargarh amidst festive musical celebration. The youth rushed forward, held onto the sacred footwear (mojadi) of Shri Hari riding upon His mare Manki, clung to the stirrup, and drenched Maharaj’s footwear with his flowing tears. Sadguru Muktanand Swami consoled him and narrated his entire plight to Shriji Maharaj.
Shriji Maharaj proceeded to the Akshar Ordi, partook of the evening thaal, and presided over the divine assembly. The young man sat in the gathering alongside Muktanand Swami. Shriji Maharaj remarked, “O Swami! His father harbored intense love and attachment towards him. Remembering him at the time of death, he had fallen into the realm of ghosts. However, We have now bathed his soul in the sacred Ghela River and sent him to Badrikashram. He has now attained ultimate liberation.” Shri Hari then called Mulji Brahmachari, had him bring the sanctified prasadi of the thaal, and lovingly fed the youth.
From that day forth, his father ceased appearing at night. The following day, Shri Hari asked the youth whether he wished to stay here. Upon his eager consent, Maharaj bestowed Parshad diksha upon him and placed him in seva at Laxmivadi under Sadguru Sachchidanand Swami. Remaining as a Parshad, he diligently served the fruit orchards and flower gardens at Laxmivadi for five years, bringing immense joy to Shri Hari, the sadhus, and devotees.
One day, he came to Darbargarh, had darshan of Shri Hari, and prayed, “O Maharaj! Please now initiate me as a sadhu!” Omniscient Shri Hari asked, “Bhagat, is there any difficulty in remaining as a Parshad?” The Parshad replied, “O Maharaj! Serving in the orchard brings immense bliss, but while there, I miss the divine darshan of Your holy person, this sacred sabha, and the nectar of these spiritual discourses. That is my only yearning!”
Shri Hari lovingly initiated him into the sadhu fold, bestowing upon him the name ‘Shwetvaikunthanand Swami.’ Throughout his life, he remained an illustrious Paramhansa in Shri Hari’s sacred fellowship of sadhus.
